Recently, various types of camera mouse are developed using the image processing. The camera mouse showed limited performance compared to the traditional optical mouse in terms of the response time and the usability. These problems are caused by the mismatch between the size of the monitor and that of the active pixel area of the CMOS Image Sensor. To overcome these limitations, we designed a new input device that uses the face recognition as well as the speech recognition simultaneously. In the proposed system, the area of the monitor is partitioned into 'n' zones. The face recognition is performed using the web-camera, so that the mouse pointer follows the movement of the face of the user in a particular zone. The user can switch the zone by speaking the name of the zone. The multimodal mouse is analyzed using the Keystroke Level Model and the initial experiments was performed to evaluate the feasibility and the performance of the proposed system.
The warpage on mobile phone camera packages occurs due to the CTE(Coefficient of Thermal Expansion) mismatch between a thin silicon die and a substrate. The warpage in the optical instruments such as camera module has an effect on the field curvature, which is one of the factors degrading the optical performance and the product yield. In this paper, we studied the effect of die bonding epoxy on the package and optical performance of mobile phone camera packages. We calculated the warpages of camera module packages by using a finite element analysis, and their shapes were in good agreement showing parabolic curvature. We also measured the warpages and through-focus MTF of camera module specimens with experiments. The warpage was improved on an epoxy with low elastic modulus at both finite element analysis and experiment results, and the MTF performance increased accordingly. The results show that die bonding epoxy affects the warpage generated on the image sensor during the packaging process, and this warpage eventually affects the optical performance associated with the field curvature.

Human retina is able to detect the edge of an object effectively. We designed a CMOS vision chip by modeling cells of the retina as hardwares involved in edge detection. There are several fluctuation factors which affect characteristics of MOSFETs during CMOS fabrication process and this effect appears as output offset of the vision chip which is composed of pixel arrays and readout circuits. The vision chip detecting edge information from input image is used for input stage of other systems. Therefore, the output offset of a vision chip determine the efficiency of the entire performance of a system. In order to eliminate the offset at the output stage, we designed a vision chip by using CDS(Correlated Double Sampling) technique. Using standard CMOS process, it is possible to integrate with other circuits. Having reliable output characteristics, this chip can be used at the input stage for many applications, like targe tracking system, fingerprint recognition system, human-friendly robot system and etc.

When a USB digital camera is used for PC video-conference applications, motion picture data need to be transferred to the PC through the USB port. Due to the mismatch between the data rates of the USB and the motion picture, data compression should be performed before the transmission from the USB. While many motion picture compression algorithms require large intermediate memory space, the JPEG algorithm does not need to store an entire frame for the compression. Instead, a relatively small buffer is required at the input of the JPEG compression engine to resolve the inconsistency between the orders of the inputted data and the consumed data. Data reordering can be easily implemented using a double buffering scheme, which still requires a considerable size of memory. In this paper, a novel memory management scheme is proposed to avoid the double buffering. The proposed memory architecture requires a small amount of memory and a simple address generation scheme, resulting in overall cost reduction.
Recently, it is entering the hyper connectivity age due to the development of sensor and communication technology. In particular, it is emerging new industries such as the IoT, bigdata, cloud by convergence with the ICT and other industries. Because these industries are high the gravity of the software, the demand for software manpower is increasing rapidly. But university curriculum don't deviate from the traditional curriculum, and lack of positive response to these changes is occurring a mismatch with the industry demand. In this paper, investigate a software curriculums of the four-year university, and will attempt to investigate the perception about the university software course of the corporate perspective. Also, we draw a on-site fitness of universities training course by analysis of importance on software training courses between universities and businesses. Finally, we propose a strategy model for software training course design appropriate for the field.

The superior properties of ZnO such as high exciton binding energy, high thermal and chemical stability, low growth temperature and possibility of wet etching process in ZnO have great interest for applications ranging from optoelectronics to chemical sensor. Particularly, vertically well-aligned ZnO nanorods on large areas with good optical and structural properties are of special interest for the fabrication of electronic and optical nanodevices. Currently, low-dimensional ZnO is synthesized by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), thermal evaporation, and sol.gel growth. Recently, our group has been reported about achievement the growth of Ga-doped ZnO nanorods using ZnO seed layer on p-type Si substrate by RF magnetron sputtering system at high rf power and high growth temperature. However, the crystallinity of nanorods deteriorates due to lattice mismatch between nanorods and Si substrate. Also, in the growth of oxide using sputtering, the oxygen flow ratio relative to argon gas flow is an important growth parameter and significantly affects the structural properties. In this study, Phosphorus (P) doped ZnO nanorods were grown on c-sapphire substrates without seed layer by radio frequency magnetron sputtering with various argon/oxygen gas ratios. The layer change films into nanorods with decreasing oxygen partial pressure. The diameter and length of vertically well-aligned on the c-sapphire substrate are in the range of 51-103 nm and about 725 nm, respectively. The photoluminescence spectra of the nanorods are dominated by intense near band-edge emission with weak deep-level emission.

Automated visual grading system of lumber needs correct input image. In order to create a correct image of domestic red pine lumber 3.6 m long feeding on a conveyer, part images were captured using area sensor and template matching algorithm was applied to merge part images. Two kinds of template matching algorithms and six kinds of template sizes were adopted in this operation. Feature extracted method appeared to have more excellent image merging performance than fixed template method. Error length was attributed to a decline of similarity related by difference of partial brightness on a part image, specific pattern and template size. The mismatch part was repetitively generated at the long grain. The best size of template for image merging was $100{\times}100$ pixels. In a further study, assignment of exact template size, preprocessing of image merging for reduction of brightness difference will be needed to improve image merging.
Real-time virtual studios which could run only on expensive workstations are now available for personal computers thanks to the recent development of graphics hardware. Nevertheless, graphics are rendered off-line in the post production stage in film or TV drama productions, because the graphics' quality is still restricted by the real-time hardware. Software-based camera tracking methods taking only the source video into account take much computation time, and often shows unstable results. To overcome this restriction, we propose a system that stores camera motion data from sensors at shooting time as common virtual studios and uses them in the post production stage, named as POVIS(post virtual imaging system). For seamless registration of graphics onto the camera video, precise zoom lens calibration must precede the post production. A practical method using only two planar patterns is used in this work. We present a method to reduce the camera sensor's error due to the mechanical mismatch, using the Kalman filter. POVIS was successfully used to track the camera in a documentary production and saved much of the processing time, while conventional methods failed due to lack of features to track.

Developments of Solid-State Gyroscopy during last decades are impressive and were based on thin-walled shell resonators like HRG or CRG made from fused quartz or leuko-sapphire. However, a number of design choices for inertial-grade gyroscopes, which can be used for high-g applications and for mass- or middle-scale production, is still very limited. So, considerations of fundamental physical effects in solids that can be used for development of a miniature, completely solid-state, and lower-cost sensor look urgent. There is a variety of different types of bulk acoustic (elastic) waves (BAW) in anisotropic solids. Shear waves with different variants of their polarization have to be studied especially carefully, because shear sounds in glasses and crystals are sensitive to a turn of the solid as a whole, and, so, they can be used for development of gyroscopic sensors. For an isotropic medium (for a glass or a fine polycrystalline body), classic Lame's theorem (so-called, a general solution of Elasticity Theory or Green-Lame's representation) has been modified for enough general case: an elastic medium rotated about an arbitrary set of axes. Travelling, standing, and mixed shear waves propagating in an infinite isotopic medium (or between a pair of parallel reflecting surfaces) have been considered too. An analogy with classic Foucault's pendulum has been underlined for the effect of a turn of a polarizational plane (i.e., an integration effect for an input angular rate) due to a medium's turn about the axis of the wave propagation. These cases demonstrate a whole-angle regime of gyroscopic operation. Single-crystals are anisotropic media, and, therefore, to reflect influence of the crystal's rotation, classic Christoffel-Green's tensors have been modified. Cases of acoustic axes corresponding to equal velocities for a pair of the pure-transverse (shear) waves have of an evident applied interest. For such a special direction in a crystal, different polarizations of waves are possible, and the gyroscopic effect of "polarizational precession" can be observed like for a glass. Naturally, formation of a wave pattern in a massive elastic body is much more complex due to reflections from its boundaries. Some of these complexities can be eliminated. However, a non-homogeneity has a fundamental nature for any amorphous medium due to its thermodynamically-unstable micro-structure, having fluctuations of the rapidly-frozen liquid. For single-crystalline structures, blockness (walls of dislocations) plays a similar role. Physical nature and kinematic particularities of several typical "drifts" in polarizational BAW gyros (P-BAW) have been considered briefly too. They include irregular precessions ("polarizational beats") due to: non-homogeneity of mass density and elastic moduli, dissymmetry of intrinsic losses, and an angular mismatch between propagation and acoustic axes.

This work describes a 12b 200KHz 0.52mA $0.47mm^2$ algorithmic ADC for sensor applications such as motor controls, 3-phase power controls, and CMOS image sensors simultaneously requiring ultra-low power and small size. The proposed ADC is based on the conventional algorithmic architecture with recycling techniques to optimize sampling rate, resolution, chip area, and power consumption. The input SHA with eight input channels for high integration employs a folded-cascode architecture to achieve a required DC gain and a sufficient phase margin. A signal insensitive 3-D fully symmetrical layout with critical signal lines shielded reduces the capacitor and device mismatch of the MDAC. The improved switched bias power-reduction techniques reduce the power consumption of analog amplifiers. Current and voltage references are integrated on the chip with optional off-chip voltage references for low glitch noise. The employed down-sampling clock signal selects the sampling rate of 200KS/s or 10KS/s with a reduced power depending on applications. The prototype ADC in a 0.18um n-well 1P6M CMOS technology demonstrates the measured DNL and INL within 0.76LSB and 2.47LSB. The ADC shows a maximum SNDR and SFDR of 55dB and 70dB at all sampling frequencies up to 200KS/s, respectively. The active die area is $0.47mm^2$ and the chip consumes 0.94mW at 200KS/s and 0.63mW at 10KS/s at a 1.8V supply.
