Seals in a universal joint bearing are important components reinforcing lubrication performance by holding lubricant and preventing infiltration of dust, moisture, etc.. There is a great difference in seal performance according to seal shape and bonding position. Therefore, in this study, as for both the lip type seal and the O-ring type seal, FE analysis is conducted using Mooned-Rivlin Model. The results show that O-ring type seal does not have any effect of misalignment angle compared with lib type seal, which is more profitable.
It is tragic that the Korean Airline Boing 747, KE007, wandered hundreds of miles off course into Soviet airspace and was shot down on September 1, 1983. The exact cuases are not known yet. Thus, speculation centers on human error or faulty procedure of three Litton LTN-72R inertial navigation systems(INS) with which the KAL KE007 was equipped. The inertial platform must be aligned before the INS can be used as a precision inertial navigation system. This analysis checks a possibility that the navigation errors are caused by a wrong INS alignment procedure assuming it is done at Anchorage. Possible causes for the navigational position error, such as alignment errors and gyro drift errors, are analyzed through inertial navigation system error prapagation simulations. A set of misalignment angle is estimated to determine what degree of alignment errors are required to cause the navigation error assuming that the accident is caused by the INS misalignment.

A micro end mill is one of the precise tools used in machining ultra-precision products such as microchannel and micropatterned mold. To achieve the required precision of these products, several studies investigated the cutting force, burr formation, and burr generation mechanism of micro end mills; however, there are few studies on the alignment of micro tools, which is the foundation of machining. Hence, in this investigation, relation expressions were derived to determine the relation between the misalignment parameters and the machining accuracy. At the same time, the effect of the machining parameters was analyzed using a multiple linear regression analysis and the analysis of variance. The results indicate that the tilting angle of a micro tool has more influence on the machining accuracy than other parameters.

For the poor observability of azimuth misalignment angle and east gyro drift rate of the traditional initial alignment, a bran-new SINS stationary fast self-alignment approach is proposed. By means of analyzing the characteristic of the strapdown inertial navigation system (SINS) stationary alignment seriously, the new approach takes full advantage of the specific force and angular velocity information given by inertial measurement unit (IMU) instead of the mechanization of SINS. Firstly, coarse alignment algorithm is presented. Secondly, a new fine alignment model for SINS stationary self-alignment is derived, and the observability of the model is analysed. Then, a modified Sage-Husa adaptive Kalman filter is introduced to estimate the misalignment angles. Finally, some computer simulation results illustrate the efficiency of the new approach and its advantages, such as higher alignment accuracy, shorter alignment time, more self-contained and less calculation.

This study is concerned with the numerical investigation of dynamic characteristics of 2.5MW-class wind turbine gearbox in which the misalignment improvement of plenary gear shafts by the flexible pins and the dynamic impact response are analyzed by the finite element method. The tooth contact between gears is modelled using the line element having the equivalent tooth stiffness and the contact ratio to accurately and effectively reflect the load transmission in the internal complex gear system. The equivalent tooth stiffness is calculated by utilizing the tooth deformation analysis and the impulse torque is applied to the input shaft for the dynamics response characteristic analysis. Through the numerical experiments, the equivalent tooth stiffness model was validated and the misalignment improvement of planetary gear shafts was confirmed from the comparison with the cases of fixed shafts at one and both ends.

The TMCP steel has expanded in the marine structure during manufacturing process because of its excellent weld-ability and impact toughness. In the case of merchant ships, coverage of TMCP steel has been used widely on over DH36 Classifications material. The line heating process is applied to the outer surface of the steel plate for the shipbuilding. In this study, We compared between TMCP and normalizing steel for shipbuilding by analyzing some basic data through performing the natural cooling after the line heating. The experimental results show the angular misalignment changes in line heating. Heated surface of normalizing steel material expanded to $-0.3^{\circ}$ and reduced to $+0.2^{\circ}$ after cooling. And during cooling at $194^{\circ}C$ for 1,500 seconds, Angular Misalignment began from - direction to + direction, passed the critical point to the default at 2,200 seconds and did not take place any more at $103^{\circ}C$ after the 2,700 seconds. Angular Misalignment results of TMCP steels and Normalizing steel material show same angular misalignment lasted 1,200 seconds, TMCP steel has given more expansion and contraction angle which is $0.2^{\circ}$ than that of the Normalizing steel. Length difference between expansion and contraction is about 0.3 mm.

Wireless power transfer (WPT) based on magnetic resonant coupling is a promising technology in many industrial applications. Efficiency of the WPT system usually depends on the tilt angle of the transmitter or the receiver coil. This work analyzes the effect of the tilt angle on the efficiency of the WPT system with horizontal misalignment. The mutual inductance between two coils located at arbitrary positions with tilt angles is calculated using a numerical analysis based on the Neumann formula. The efficiency of the WPT system with a tilted coil is extracted using an equivalent circuit model with extracted mutual inductance. By analyzing the results, we propose an optimal tilt angle to maximize the efficiency of the WPT system. The best angle to maximize the efficiency depends on the radii of the two coils and their relative position. The calculated efficiencies versus the tilt angle for various WPT cases, which change the radius of RX ($r_2=0.075m$, 0.1 m, 0.15 m) and the horizontal distance (y=0 m, 0.05 m, 0.1 m), are compared with the experimental results. The analytically extracted efficiencies and the extracted optimal tilt angles agree well with those of the experimental results.
One ingredient in an empirical birthrate estimate for pulsar binaries is the fraction of sky subtended by the pulsar beam: the pulsar beaming fraction. This fraction depends on both the pulsar's beam geometry defined by the pulsar's opening angle and the misalignment angle between its spin and magnetic axes. The current estimates for pulsar binary birthrates are based on an average value of beaming fractions for only two pulsars, i.e., PSRs B1913+16 and B1534+12. In this work, we revisit the observed pulsar binaries to examine the sensitivity of birthrate predictions to different assumptions regarding the pulsar beam geometry. The results show that, for those pulsars without any direct beam geometry constraints, the estimated beaming correction factor is likely to be smaller than six, a canonically adopted value when calculating birthrates of Galactic pulsar binaries. The median birthrate estimates for pulsar-white dwarf and pulsar-neutron star binaries in the Galactic disk, based on the best observational constraints, are 34 per Myr and 89 per Myr, respectively.

Boresight process is to match the misalignment between PNU(Position Navigation Unit) and the reference axis of K-MLRS cage. It is important process to ensure accuracy of K-MLRS. When PNU is removed from cage in the previous alignment procedure, there is a misalignment angle with cage of K-MLRS during reassembly process. Therefore, boresight process is always need to align reference axes between PNU and K-MLRS cage. However, this study has proposed the case alignment process that it enable to correspond to reference axes between ISA (Inertial Sensor Assembly) block and PNU case. So, improved alignment procedure enables to install PNU in the reassembly process without additional boresight process.
Galaxy clusters are the sites where the most massive galaxies are found, and so the most dramatic merger histories are embedded. Our deep (mu ~ 28 mag/arcsec^2) images of Abell 119 at z = 0.044 using the Blanco 4-m telescope at CTIO revealed post-merger signatures in ~35% of galaxies brighter than Mr < -19.5, suggesting that so many galaxies even in clusters have gone through galaxy mergers at recent epoch. We went further to understand the impact of mergers in cluster galaxies using stellar kinematics from the SAMI Integral Field Unit on the galaxies of Abell 119 in three aspects of kinematics : orientations, levels of rotation, and kinematic shapes. We found that 30% of the merger-featured galaxies show misalignment in the angle between the photometric major and the rotation axes, and most of them show complex kinematics. For comparison, only 5% of non-merger-featured galaxies show the misalignment. Moreover, our analysis using the Tully-Fisher relation shows that galaxy interactions can both enhance or reduce galaxy spin depending on the merger geometry. We present our preliminary result and discussion on the role of galaxy mergers in cluster environment from the perspective of kinematics.
