Lasing characteristics of an Er-doped fiber laser have been investigated at various conditions of resonator reflectivities and pump powers. Variation of the laser wavelength with various mirror reflectivities has been compared with the theoretical analysis based on absorption, gain spectra, and resonator parameters. The maximum slope efficiency of 38% was obtained with the resonator's mirror reflectivities of 100% and 4% on both sides, and the threshold powers were varied from 7.8 mW to 5.6 mW, and lasing wavelengths were varied $1.532\mum to 1.563\mum and 1.558 \mum to 1.570 \mum$ for 6 and 15.8 mlong Er-doped fiber, respectively, as the resonator reflectivities were changed from 0.0016 to 0.9.to 0.9.
A single-mode erbium-doped fiber laser is constructed by using a intracore fiber Bragg grating and a unidirectional fiber loop mirror. The laser cavity is designed in such a way that the laser beam forms a travelling wave in the gain medium by placing the erbium-doped fiber inside the unidirectional loop and that the wavelength-selective feedback is made from the outside of the loop by a fiber grating with 0.2 nm reflection linewidth. An additional fiber ring resonator is constructed and used as an optical spectrum analyzer to observe the variation of the laser mode spectra. As the result, relatively stable single mode, single polarization output is observed for the most of the time except some mode hoppings in minute scale due to enviommental temperature variations. tions.
A Rapid Thermal Processing (RTP) system operated below $500^{\circ}C$ has been designed and constructed. It uses an optical pyrometer for measuring wafer temperature, the sensing range of pyrometer is from $2.0{\mu}m$ to $2.4{\mu}m$. To remove the interference effect by IR emitted from lamps an IR filter is adapted which uses water. The best condition for Al alloy using the RTP system is $425^{\circ}C$ for ten seconds. The RTP system uses many lamps for supplying enough power in processing wafer because the absorption wavelength range of IF filter is from $1.3{\mu}m$ to $4.0{\mu}m$. However, reproducibility and uniformity is reduced due to the difference of lamp characteristics. Therefore, for improving the reproducibility and uniformity new RTP system using one lamp is designed. The new RTP system uses a focusing mirror and it focuses the light of lamp. The curverture of the focusing mirror is controlled to supply uniform power in processing wafer. The result of computer simulation shows the possibility of new RTP system using one lamp.

In this paper, when a refractive index grating and a gain grating were simultaneously present in a DFB laser having a wavelength of 1.55 ㎛, a dielectric film coating was applied so that reflection did not occur on the right mirror surface, so that 𝜌r=0. In case of δL > 0, the threshold gain and the beam distribution in the longitudinal direction and the radiated power ratio Pl/Pr of the oscillation mode were compared for the cases of the phase of 𝜌l=π and π/2. If the phase of 𝜌l=π, in order to obtain a low threshold current and high frequency stability, κL should be greater than 8. In the case of the phase of 𝜌l= π/2, when κL is larger than 4.0, the oscillation gain starts to be lower than when the phase of 𝜌l=π. In order to lower the threshold current of a oscillation mode and enhance the frequency stability, κL should be greater than 8.

In this paper, a 5.08 GHz Ring Voltage Controlled Oscillator(Ring VCO) was implemented using $0.18{\mu}m$ standard CMOS technology. The proposal Ring VCO is 3-stage structure. This research confirmed that the each stage's different transistor size ratio influence the current change and alter power consumption consequentially. This circuit is formed to control the current thereby adding the Current Mirror and to tune the frequency by supplying control voltage. It has an 65.5 %(1.88~5.45 GHz) tuning range. The measured output power is -0.30 dBm. The phase noise is -87.50 dBc/Hz @1 MHz offset with operating frequency of 5.08 GHz fundamental frequency. The total power consumption of Ring VCO is 31.2 mW with 2.4 V supply voltage.

We have designed and assembled a saturated absorption-spectroscopy system of $^{127}I_2$ for the frequency stabilization of the 543 nm He-Ne laser. The frequency of a internal-mirror 543 nm He-Ne laser was swept by utilizing the temperature and PZT change of the laser cavity length. Frequency modulation was applied to the output laser mirror with a PZT modulator for the third harmonic signal. A portion of the hyperfine spectrum originated from the R(12)26-0 and R(106)28-0 transitions of the B-X system of $^{127}I_2$ was observed as the third-derivative signal using a saturated absorption spectroscopy. The signal-to-noise ratio of a typical hyperfine spectrum signal was estimated to be 30:1.

We are currently investigating the feasibility of a 1.6 m telescope with a laser-guide star adaptive optics (AO) system. The telescope, if successfully commissioned, would be the first dedicated adaptive optics observatory in South Korea. The 1.6 m telescope is an f/13.6 Cassegrain telescope with a focal length of 21.7 m. This paper first reviews atmospheric seeing conditions measured over a year in 2014~2015 at the Bohyun Observatory, South Korea, which corresponds to an area from 11.6 to 21.6 cm within 95% probability with regard to the Fried parameter of 880 nm at a telescope pupil plane. We then derive principal seeing conditions such as the Fried parameter and Greenwood frequency for eight astronomical spectral bands (V/R/I/J/H/K/L/M centered at 0.55, 0.64, 0.79, 1.22, 1.65, 2.20, 3.55, and $4.77{\mu}m$). Then we propose an AO system with a laser guide star for the 1.6 m telescope based on the seeing conditions. The proposed AO system consists of a fast tip/tilt secondary mirror, a $17{\times}17$ deformable mirror, a $16{\times}16$ Shack-Hartmann sensor, and a sodium laser guide star (589.2 nm). The high order AO system is close-looped with 2 KHz sampling frequency while the tip/tilt mirror is independently close-looped with 63 Hz sampling frequency. The AO system has three operational concepts: 1) bright target observation with its own wavefront sensing, 2) less bright star observation with wavefront sensing from another bright natural guide star (NGS), and 3) faint target observation with tip/tilt sensing from a bright natural guide star and wavefront sensing from a laser guide star. We name these three concepts 'None', 'NGS only', and 'LGS + NGS', respectively. Following a thorough investigation into the error sources of the AO system, we predict the root mean square (RMS) wavefront error of the system and its corresponding Strehl ratio over nine analysis cases over the worst ($2{\sigma}$) seeing conditions. From the analysis, we expect Strehl ratio >0.3 in most seeing conditions with guide stars.
Objectives Rehmanniae Radix Preparata was prepared in the traditional Rehmanniae Radix Preparata preparation method set forth in the 『Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine(Donguibogam)』 with a view to measuring the contents of 5-Hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde(5-HMF) at individual stages of steaming and sundrying and identifying new chemical components. Methods Based on the traditional Rehmanniae Radix Preparata preparation method set forth in the 『Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine』, Rehmanniae Radix Preparata steamed and sundried once through nine times was prepared. Thereafter, 5-HMF contents were analyzed and new chemical components were identified in the Rehmanniae Radix Preparata using Waters HPLC e2695, 2640 detectors, a Waters Acquity UPLC system, and a Micromass Q-TOF Premier mass spectrometer. Results The Rehmanniae Radix Preparata preparation method set forth in the 『Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine』 is a unique preparation method in Republic of Korea different from that in China. In the first stage of the method, fresh Rehmanniae Radix Crudus was divided into high quality, medium quality, and low quality ones named Rehmanniae Radix Crudus (Caelum)(天黃), Rehmanniae Radix Crudus (Homo)(人黃), and Rehmanniae Radix Crudus (Terra)(地黃) respectively to use Rehmanniae Radix Crudus (Caelum) and Rehmanniae Radix Crudus (Homo) for preparation of juice while using Rehmanniae Radix Crudus (Terra) to make Rehmanniae Radix Preparata. In the second stage, Rehmanniae Radix Crudus (Caelum) and Rehmanniae Radix Crudus (Terra) were made into juice and Rehmanniae Radix Crudus (Terra) was soaked in the juice. In the third stage, among auxiliary materials, rice wine named Purum Vinum Oryzae(淸酒) brewed from sticky rice was sprinkled on Rehmanniae Radix Crudus (Terra) to the extent that Rehmanniae Radix Crudus (Terra) became wet. In the fourth stage, Rehmanniae Radix Preparata steamed in earthenware steamer was dried under natural sunlight. The contents of 5-HMF in Rehmanniae Radix Preparata steamed and sundried once through nine times were shown to be below 0.1% in all cases. Pomolic acid was identified as a new chemical component. Conclusions In conclusion, the Rehmanniae Radix Preparata preparation method set forth in the 『Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine』 is thought to be a unique preparation method in South Korea in which Rehmanniae Radix Preparata is completed through the first stage in which fresh Rehmanniae Radix Crudus collected from fields is divided into high, medium, and low quality ones and fresh Rehmanniae Radix Crudus juice is made, the second stage in which the high quality fresh Rehmanniae Radix Crudus is soaked in the fresh Rehmanniae Radix Crudus juice, the third stage in which the fresh Rehmanniae Radix Crudus is steamed, and the fourth stage in which the steamed Rehmanniae Radix Crudus is dried.

A new method for design of two-channel finite-impulse response(FIR) quadrature mirror-image filter(QMF) banks with low reconstruction delay using weighting function is proposed. The weighting function used in this paper is calculated from the previous updated filter coefficients vector which is adjusted from iteration to iteration in the design of QMF banks. In this paper, passband and stopband edge frequency are used in design of QMF banks with low delay characteristic in time domain instead of specific frequency interval where the artifacts occur in conventional design method. The investigation of specific frequency interval where artifacts occur can not be required by using passband and stopband edge frequency. Some comparisons of performance are made with other existing design method to demonstrate the proposed method for QMF bank design. and it was observed that the proposed method using the weighted function and passband and stopband edge frequency improves the peak reconstruction error by 0.001 [dB], the peak-to-peak passband ripple by 0.003[dB], SNR with a white noise by 7[dB] and SNR with a step input by 32[dB], but with a reduction of the computational efficiency because of updating the weighting function over the conventional method in Ref [11].
