  • In this paper, a three-key triple data encryption algorithm (TDEA) of a digital cryptosystem based on phase-shifting interferometry is proposed. The encryption for plaintext and the decryption for the ciphertext of a complex digital hologram are performed by three independent keys called a wavelength key k1(λ), a reference distance key k2(dr) and a holographic encryption key k3(x, y), which are represented in the reference beam path of phase-shifting interferometry. The results of numerical simulations show that the minimum wavelength spacing between the neighboring independent wavelength keys is about δλ = 0.007 nm, and the minimum distance between the neighboring reference distance keys is about δdr = 50 nm. For the proposed three-key TDEA, choosing the deviation of the key k1(λ) as δλ = 0.4 nm and the deviation of the key k2(dr) as δdr = 500 nm allows the number of independent keys k1(λ) and k2(dr) to be calculated as N(k1) = 80 for a range of 1,530-1,562 nm and N(dr) = 20,000 for a range of 35-45 mm, respectively. The proposed method provides the feasibility of independent keys with many degrees of freedom, and then these flexible independent keys can provide the cryptosystem with very high security.

  • This paper decribes multi-phase BLDC motor with a minimum torque pulsation among BLDC motor used for electric propulsion system. Multi-phase BLDC motor has characteristic that phase of stator has more than 3-phase. This paper is modeling two type of BLDC motor, one has 3-phase and the other has 7-phase, and it shows simulation of them comparing its characteristics. As a result of simulation, the 7-phase BLDC motor shows better performance in terms of torque pulsation. It is also found that the torque pulsation is reduced further by increasing the number of phase.

  • In this paper, a new signal processing technique is proposed for calibrating gain, phase, delay offsets in array antenna based anti-jamming minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) global-positioning-system (GPS) receivers. The proposed technique estimates gain, phase and delay offsets across the antennas, and compensates for the offsets based on the estimates. A pilot signal with good correlation characteristics is used for accurate estimation of the gain, phase and delay offsets. Based on the cross-correlation, the delay offset is first estimated and then gain/phase offsets are estimated. For fine delay offset estimation and compensation, an interpolation technique is used, and specifically, the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) is employed for the interpolation technique to reduce the computational complexity. The proposed technique is verified through computer simulation using MATLAB. According to the simulation results, the proposed technique can reduce the gain, phaes and delay offset to 0.01 dB, 0.05 degree, and 0.5 ns, respectively.

  • The optimum convolutional error correction codes for recently standardized Feher-patented quadrature phase-shift keying (FQPSK-B) modulation are proposed. We utilize the continuous phase modulation characteristics of FQPSK-B signals for calculating the minimum Euclidean distance of convolutional coded FQPSK-B signal. It is shown that the Euclidean distance between two FQPSK-B signals is proportional to the Hamming distance between two binary data sequence. Utilizing this characteristic, we show that the convolutional codes with optimum free Hamming distance is the optimum convolutional codes for FQPSK-B signals.

  • In this paper, we consider methods of robust stabilization of the interval plant with a PID controller. Suppose that we know apriori a sign of the coefficients of the numerator of the PID controller. Under this condition, it sufficies to make eight polynomials stable for robust stabilization of the interval plant with a minimum phase PID controller. In addition, with a nonminimum phase PID controller, it suffices to make different eight polynomials stable. Especially, with the nonminimum phase PID controller it is shown that stabilization of eight plants is necessary and sufficient for robust stabilization of the interval plants.

  • In this paper, a model reference adaptive control algorithm is applied to the design of the normal acceleration controller for missiles with nonminimum-phase characteristics. The method used in this paper is due to Ohkubo. In this scheme, a feedforward compensator is designed first so that the extended system becomes minimum-phase and after that an adaptive control algorithms is designed for the extended system. The feedforwrd compensator is obtained by solving the robust stabilization problem. It is shown that the performance of the designed controller is satisfied via computer simulation.

  • LCL filters are widely used in three-phase PWM converter for its advantages of small volume, low cost and inhibition of high frequency current harmonic. However, it is difficult to optimize its design because its parameters are mutually influenced while the value of each parameter for LCL filter has impacts on the converter's cost and size. In this paper, the target of optimization is to minimize the parameter values of LCL filter, and an optimization method for parameters of LCL filter of three-phase PWM converter based on least square method is proposed. With this method, a quantitative calculation of the harmonic component of the converter’s side phase voltage is performed first, and then the quantitative relationship between phase voltage harmonics and grid phase current harmonics is analyzed. After that, the attenuation requirement of each harmonic is obtained by taking into account the requirements for each harmonic component of grid current. Then according to the optimization objective, the objective function with minimum harmonic attenuation deviation is established, and least squares method is adopted for three-dimensional global searching of parameters for LCL filter. Thus, the designed harmonic attenuation curve approximates the minimum attenuation requirements, and the optimized LCL filter parameters are obtained. Finally, the effectiveness of the method is verified by the experiments.

  • An alternative inverse feedback structure for adaptive active control of periodic noise is introduced for systems with nonminimum phase cancellation path. To obtain the inverse model of the nonminimum phase cancellation path, the cancellation path model can be factorized into a minimum phase term and a maximum phase term. The maximum phase term containing unstable zeros makes the inverse model unstable. To avoid the instability, we alter the inverse model of the maximum phase system into an anti-causal FIR one. An LMS predictor estimates the future samples of the noise, which are necessary for causality of both anti-causal FIR approximation for the stable inverse of the maximum phase system and time-delay existing in the cancellation path. The proposed method has a faster convergence behavior and a better transient response than the conventional FX-LMS algorithms with the same internal model control structure since a filtered reference signal is not required. We compare the proposed methods with the conventional methods through simulation studies.

  • The purpose of this paper is to improve the existing phase split algorithm considering the minimum green time in COSMOS. In the case of a signalized intersection where two wide and narrow streets intersect each other, the time required for the pedestrian crossing is frequently longer than the time alloted to the through traffic on a minor street. In order to meet the minimum green time requirement for the pedestrian less time in alloted automatically to the left-turn traffic, creating heavy congestion on the left-turn approach. To solve this problem, this study suggests a new algorithm which shares the barrier using minimum green time and shares the burden with signal phases alloted to the crossing street traffic on the basis of the equal ratio of the degree of saturation, while maintaining the minimum green time requirement. The new algorithm was compared with the existing algorithm by using a microscopic simulation model for COSMOS evaluation developed at Ajou University. The simulation results show that the new algorithm produces better performance than the existing one.

  • In this paper, a new 'impedance sensing' method is described. This method overcomes the shortcomings of the impedance sensing method. According to the new method, sensing voltage pulse is applied to the idle phase in the minimum inductance region and the beginning of the increasing inductance region to detect rotor position. The negative torque produced by the sensing voltage pulse can be neglected in the minimum inductance region and the efficiency of SRM is improved. In the minimum inductance region the back electromotive force (EMF) can be neglected. And in the increasing inductance region the EMF opposes the rise of current in the phase, so the position estimation scheme is reliable. Therefore the new 'impedance sensing' method is sufficiently precise even under the high back EMF effect. The adjustment of turn-on angle and turn-off angle is also easy to be realized. The technique is very useful in applications where cost or size is primary concerns, such as electric bicycle drives. Experimental results are presented to verify the proposed method.
