A Novel Equivalent Wiener-Hopf Equation with TDL coefficient in Lattice Structure

  • In this paper, we propose an equivalent Wiener-Hopf equation. The proposed algorithm can obtain the weight vector of a TDL(tapped-delay-line) filter and the error simultaneously if the inputs are orthogonal to each other. The equivalent Wiener-Hopf equation was analyzed theoretically based on the MMSE(minimum mean square error) method. The results present that the proposed algorithm is equivalent to original Wiener-Hopf equation. The new algorithm was applied into the identification of an unknown system for evaluating the performance of the proposed method. We compared the Wiener-Hopf solution with the equivalent Wiener-Hopf solution. The simulation results were similar to those obtained in the theoretical analysis. In conclusion, our method can find the coefficient of the TDL (tapped-delay-line) filter where a lattice filter is used, and also when the process of Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization is used. Furthermore, a new cost function is suggested which may facilitate research in the adaptive signal processing area.

Segment Training Based Individual Channel Estimation for Multi-pair Two-Way Relay Network with Power Allocation

  • In this paper, we design a segment training based individual channel estimation (STICE) scheme for the classical two-way relay network (TWRN) with multi-pair sources (MPS) and amplify-and-forward (AF). We adopt the linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) channel estimator to minimize the mean square error (MSE) without channel estimation error, where the optimal power allocation strategy from the relay for different sources is obtained. Then the MSE gains are given with different source pairs among the proposed power allocation scheme and the existing power allocation schemes. Numerical results show that the proposed method outperforms the existing ones.

  • 본 논문은 평균 자승 측면에서 직교 입력 신호에 대하여 TDL 필터의 계수를 구할 수 있는 등가의 Wiener-Hopf 방정식을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 등가의 Wiener-Hopf 방정식을 이용하면 직교 입력 신호에 대하여 역 직교화 과정을 거치지 않고 직접적으로 TDL 필터의 계수와 오차를 표현할 수 있다. 본 논문에는 MMSE(minimum mean square error)에 대한 이론적 해석을 포함하였으며 수학적 예제에서 Wiener-Hopf 해와 제안한 등가의 Wiener-Hopf 해를 동시에 나타내었다.

개선된 터보 등화기의 설계와 성능 평가 (Design and Performance Evaluation of Improved Turbo Equalizer)

  • 본 논문에서는 단일 반송파 시스템에서 LDPC(low density parity check) 부호와 LMS(least mean square) 알고리즘을 이용한 적응 등화기를 사용한 시스템에서 간단한 계산을 통한 궤환 신호를 생성하여 성능을 향상 시키는 개선된 터보 등화기를 제안한다. LDPC부호는 오류를 정정하는데 있어서 매우 좋은 성능을 보인다. 그러나 LDPC 부호는 열악한 환경에서 좋은 성능을 내기 위하여 긴 패리티 검사행렬을 사용하고 LDPC 부호의 반복을 증가시켜 계산량이 크게 늘어난다. 추가로 성능을 더욱 향상시키기 위해 LDPC 부호 기반의 터보 등화 방법을 사용한다. 이 시스템의 경우 반복횟수의 증가로 계산량이 매우 크게 증가하는 단점이 있다. 이러한 계산량의 증가를 보완하기 위하여 LDPC 부호와 연판정 이후의 신호를 이용하여 적응 등화기를 조절한다. 시뮬레이션 결과 더 적은 계산량으로 LDPC 부호를 사용하고 SISO-MMSE(soft input soft output minimum mean square error)알고리즘 기반인 터보 등화기에 근접하는 성능을 내는 것을 확인하였다.

지형기후모형에 근거한 서리경보시스템 구축 (Site - Specific Frost Warning Based on Topoclimatic Estimation of Daily Minimum Temperature)

  • A spatial interpolation scheme incorporating local geographic potential for cold air accumulation (TOPSIM) was used to test the feasibility of operational frost warning in Chatancheon basin in Yeoncheon County, where the introduction of new crops including temperate zone fruits is planned. Air temperature from April to June 2003 was measured at one-minute intervals at four locations within the basin. Cold-air accumulation potentials (CAP) at 4 sites were calculated for 3 different catchment scales: a rectangular area of 65 x 55 km which covers the whole county, the KOWACO (Korea Water Corporation) hydrologic unit which includes all 4 sites, and the sub-basins delineated by a stream network analysis of the digital elevation model. Daily minimum temperatures at 4 sites were calculated by interpolating the perfect prognosis (i.e., synoptic observations at KMA Dongducheon station) based on TOPSIM with 3 different CAPs. Mean error, mean absolute error, and root mean square error were calculated for 45 days with no precipitation to test the model performance. For the 3 flat locations, little difference was detected in model performance among 3 catchment areas, but the best performance was found with the CAPs calculated for sub-basins at one site (Oksan) on complex terrain. When TOPSIM loaded with sub-basin CAPs was applied to Oksan to predict frost events during the fruit flowering period in 2004, the goodness of fit was sufficient for making an operational frost warning system for mountainous areas.

Blind Multiuser Receiving Scheme Based on Oriented Minimum Output Energy Criterion

  • Based on oriented minimum output energy (OMOE) criterion, a new blind multiuser receiving scheme of linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) detector is proposed, then an adaptive algorithm for implementing the new scheme is given by the steepest descent method, and the convergence property of the algorithm is analyzed in this paper. The numerical results demonstrate the performance of the proposed scheme.

Improvement of Minimum MSE Performance in LMS-type Adaptive Equalizers Combined with Genetic Algorithm

  • In this paper the Individual tap - Least Mean Square(IT-LMS) algorithm is applied to the adaptive multipath channel equalization using hybrid-type Genetic Algorithm(GA) for achieving lower minimum Mean Squared Error(MSE). Owing to the global search performance of GA, LMS-type equalizers combined with it have shown preferable performance in both global and local search but those still have unsatisfying minimum MSE performance. In order to lower the minimum MSE we investigated excess MSE of IT-LMS algorithm and applied it to the hybrid GA equalizer. The high convergence rate and lower minimum MSE of the proposed system give us reason to expect that it will perform well in practical multi-path channel equalization systems.

여러 사용자 양방향 통신을 위한 MMSE-기반 중계 기법 (MMSE-Based Relaying Method for Multiuser Bidirectional Communications)

  • 본 논문에서는 평균제곱오차(mean-square-error)를 최소화하며, 여러 사용자 양방향 통신(bidirectional communications)을 지원하는, 증폭-후-전달(amplify-and-forward) 중계기의 송수신 가중치 행렬을 제안한다. 또한, 시스템 전송량을 최대화하는 각 사용자 빔포밍(beamforming) 벡터를 설계한다. 모의실험을 통해 제안한 중계기 가중치로 여러 사용자간 상호채널간섭(co-channel interference)과 양방향 통신에서 발생하는 자기간섭(self-interference)을 효과적으로 줄일 수 있음을 보이고, 또한, 제안한 빔포밍 방식이 공간 다중화(spatial multiplexing) 방식에 비해 증폭-후-전달 중계기 양방향 통신에 적합함을 확인하였다.

Iterative Interstream Interference Cancellation for MIMO HSPA+ System

  • In this paper, we propose an iterative interstream interference cancellation technique for system with frequency selective multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel. Our method is inspired by the fact that the cancellation of the interstream interference can be regarded as a reduction in the magnitude of the interfering channel. We show that, as iteration goes on, the channel experienced by the equalizer gets close to the single input multiple output (SIMO) channel and, therefore, the proposed SIMO-like equalizer achieves improved equalization performance in terms of normalized mean square error. From simulations on downlink communications of $2{\times}2$ MIMO systems in high speed packet access universal mobile telecommunications system standard, we show that the proposed method provides substantial performance gain over the conventional receiver algorithms.

A Modified MMSE Algorithm for Adaptive Antennas in OFDM/CDMA Systems

  • This paper presents a semi-blind Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) beamforming adaptive algorithm used far OFDM/CDMA combined system. The proposed algorithm exploits the transmitting pilot signal in the initial period of the transmission to update the weight vector. Then it applies the blind adaptive period to update the weight vector, in which the pilot signal is no longer used. The derivation of the algorithm based on the Mean Square Error (MSE) criterion is also presented. Computer simulation is carried out to verify the performance of the proposed approach.
