파이프형 원심펌프의 성능특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Performance Characteristic of a Pipe Type Centrifugal Pump)

  • The positive displacement pump and the regenerative pump are widely used in the range of low specific speed, $n_s{\leq}100$[rpm, m3/min, m]. The positive displacement pump is not suitable for miniaturization and operation in high rotational speed. The regenerative pump has a problem with large leakage flow and low efficiency. While the centrifugal pump has advantages of high efficiency, miniaturization and high rotational speed, efficiency drops sharply with decrease in specific speed. Therefore the purpose of this study is to design a new type of centrifugal pump that has advantages of centrifugal pumps in operation in low specific speed. The name of this new type of pump was called 'Pipe type centrifugal pump', since the flow path through the impeller is simple circular pipe. Due to the simple shape of impeller, the manufacturing process is simple and cost is low. There is strong jet flow at the outlet of the impeller. This jet induces flow path loss, meridional dynamic pressure loss and mixing loss. Large disk friction makes the efficiency be limitted in the range of low specific speed. Even though the loss and the low efficiency, 'Pipe type centrifugal pump' represents stable performance, affordable pressure ratio and efficiency better than that of other low specific speed pumps.

저손실 자심재료를 이용한 평면변압기 제조 및 동작특성 (Manufacture and Characteristics of the Planar Transformer using low power loss magnetic materials)

  • The resonant planar transformer, which had power capacity of 300 W, input voltage of 220 V, output voltage of 15 V, and switching frequency of 500 kHz, was designed and manufactured by using the planar core with large effective area and the flat copper lead frames for miniaturization and high efficiency of the switching mode power supply (SMPS). As well as, a resonant converter equipped with the above mentioned planar transformer was manufactured and electromagnetic characteristics were investigated. The numerical value of turns for 1st and 2nd winding were 12 and 2 respectively. The self inductance of 1st winding was 33.2 ${\mu}H$, very low leakage inductance of 1.27 ${\mu}H$, and the coupling factor of 0.98 were obtained at switching frequency of 300 kHz. The high efficiency of 88.21 % for the SMPS equipped with planar transformer was obtained at power capacity of 300 W.

  • In this paper, a study was conducted on the miniaturization of an e-Mobility battery charger module using GaN-FET. GaN-FET is one of the types of WBG devices, and it is a device that exceeds the performance of existing Si power semiconductors. In particular, GaN-FET has the advantage of small packaging size and high switching frequency operation, which is advantageous for miniaturization of power converters. Therefore, a bidirectional DC/DC converter module for e-mobility charging using GaN-FET was developed. To apply to the converter to be developed, analysis is performed on the characteristics of GaN-FET, and after manufacturing a prototype of a bidirectional DC/DC converter module, the efficiency and temperature data of the power converter are analyzed to verify its feasibility.

  • Many efforts have focused on the improvement of power density and efficiency by downsizing the motor and inverter. Recently, Toyota, Honda, and GM realized that the compact-sized motor uses the hairpin structure with increased space factor. Reducing the maximum torque from high-speed technique also makes it possible to design the high-power density model. Toyota and Honda used the newly developed power semiconductor IGBT to decrease conduction loss for high-efficiency inverter. In particular, Toyota used the boost converter to increase the DC link voltage for high efficiency in low-torque high-speed region. Toyota and GM also used the double-sided cooling structure for miniaturization of inverter for high-power density.

300 W급 평면 변압기의 설계 및 분석 (Design and Analysis of the 300 W Planar Transformer)

  • The forward planar transformer, which had power capacity of 300 W, input voltage of 220 V, output voltage of 15 V, and switching frequency of 300 KHz, was designed and manufactured by using the planar core with large effective area and the flat copper leadframes for miniaturization and high efficiency of the switching mode power supply (SMPS). As well as, a forward converter equipped with the above mentioned planar transformer was manufactured and electromagnetic characteristics were investigated. The numerical value of turns for 1st and 2nd winding were 15 and 2 respectively The self inductance of 1st winding was 1.592 mH, very low leakage inductance of 2.7 $\mu$H, and the coupling factor of 0.928 were obtained at switching frequency of 300 KHz. The high efficiency of 88.62 % for the SMPS equipped with planar transformer was obtained at power capacity of 300 W.

전기전동차 급속충전기 고효율화를 위한 새로운 DC-DC 컨버터 토폴로지 (A New DC-DC Converter Topology For High-Efficiency Electric Vehicle Rapid Chargers)

  • LLC resonant converters or phase-shift full-bridge converters have been widely used as DC - DC converters for rapid charging of electric vehicles (EVs). However, these converters present critical disadvantages, including a large circulating current, which can hinder efficiency and miniaturization in EV battery charger applications. In this paper, a new DC - DC converter topology is proposed for EV rapid chargers. The proposed converter can operate at high frequency despite a high rated power capacity of over 20kW, and the problem of circulating current can be minimized during the entire battery charging time. Owing to these advantages, the proposed converter can achieve a high conversion efficiency of over 97% for EV rapid charger applications. The performance of the proposed converter is verified with 20kW prototypes in this study.

  • We propose a high voltage dc-dc converter for CW(continuous wave) $CO_2$ laser system using a current resonant half-bridge inverter and a Cockcroft-Walton circuit. This high voltage power supply includes a 2-stage voltage multiplier driven by a regulated half-bridge series resonant inverter. The inverter drives a step-up transformer and the transformer secondary is applied to the voltage multiplier. Thus, it has high efficiency because of the less switching losses by virtue of the current resonant half-bridge inverter, and also compact size, small parasitic capacitance in the transformer stage owing to the low number of a winding turn of the step up transformer secondary by combining with Cockroft-Walton circuit. We could be obtained the maximum laser output power of 44 W and the maximum system efficiency of over 16 %.

선박연료 가열용 250KW급 판형 IoT 전기히터의 기초연구 (Basic Study on 250KW-class IoT Electric Heater for Ship Fuel Heating)

  • 국내의 전기히터 제조업체에서는 기존 제품의 효율을 향상시키는 기술 개발에 집중하고 있다. 선박 연료용 전기히터는 그 크기가 크고 소형화/고효율화에 대한 난이도가 높아 아직까지 기술개발을 시도하는 기업은 많지 않은 실정이다. 기존의 전기히터는 선박 엔진 연료의 유동경로가 단조롭기 때문에 가열매체의 열교환 튜브와의 접촉시간이 매우 짧아 가열 효율이 낮은 구조이며, 관형으로 제작되어 있기 때문에 가열효율과 무관하게 부피가 매우 크게 제작되므로 가열장치의 설치공간을 확보해야 한다. 이로인해 해외 선진사에서 적용하고 있는 관형 전기히터 장치는 내부의 특정부분이 손상되었을때 관형 가열기를 모두 분해하여야 하고, 열교환 튜브가 손상된 경우에는 열교환 튜브를 모두 분해해야 하므로 유지와 보수에 어려움이 있다. 본 연구에서는 250kW 용량급 판형 전기히터 가열기를 통해 시간당 10ton의 선박 엔진 연료를 가열할 수 있고, 최대온도를 150℃까지 설정할 수 있는 판형 전기히터에 대한 기초연구를 수행하였다.

  • HPSL(High Pressure Sodium lamp)have attracted much attention in recent years, because they offer high luminous efficiency and very long life. Recently, AC-DC converters have been widely as power factor improvement circuits in the power conversion equipment An application of the ZVT-PWM(Zero Voltage Transition Pulse Width Modulation) boost converter, which has great advantage on miniaturization and high power density, to the power factor improvement circuit of the HPSL inverter are described to identify the power factor correction characteristics of the inverter. In this paper the series-parallel resonant inverter(electronic ballast) for driving a HPS lamp is discussed. Finally, a power factor corrector is cascaded in front of the electronic ballast. Consequently, a high power factor above 0.99 and low THD on the line current can be achieved.

Boost-Flyback topology를 이용한 1KW급 Converter (1KW converter using boost-flyback topology)

  • This paper proposed DC-DC converter for fuel cell that have high voltage and high current output characteristics. It is required step-up converter to use by general power supply, because the general rated voltage of fuel cell is low about 20$\sim$50V. The miniaturization of converter and DC link voltage can be controlled and high quality of output voltage uses mainly DC-DC converter. The boost converter and buck-boost converter do not get high boosting ratio. It is that proposed boost-flyback converter. Through simulation and an experiment, it could get high boosting ratio and efficiency more than 90%.
