This study investigates the spalling properties of high strength concrete designed with various types of mineral admixture and diverse content ratios of polypropylene (PP) fiber. Experimental factors considered in series I are four pozzolan types of mineral admixture and series II consists of three shrinkage reducing types of mineral admixture. PP fiber was added 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15vol. % in each mixture of series I and series II, so that totally 27 specimens including control concretes in each series were prepared. Test results showed that the increase of fiber content decreased the slump flow of fresh concrete and increased or decreased the air content depending on the declining ratio of slump flow. For the properties of compressive strength, all specimens were indicated at around 50 MPa, which is high strength range; especially all specimens in series II were 60 MPa. Fire test was conducted in standard heating curve of ISO 834 with ${\phi}100{\times}200\;mm$ size of cylinder moulds for 1 hour. The specimens incorporating silica fume exhibited severe spalling and most specimens without the silica fume could be protected from the spalling occurrence in only 0.05vol % of PP fiber content. This fire test results demonstrated that the spalling occurrence in high strength concrete was not only affected by concrete strength related to the porosity of microstructure but also, even more influenced by micro pore structure induced by the mineral admixtures.

The aim of this study is to decide the optimum replacement method when mineral Admistures as SILCA FUME and FLY ASH are used, as a part of practical use of ultra High-Strength Concrete. For this purpose, Four types of replacement methods are examined and the relationship between replacement methods and concrete properties is studied. As a result, workability and gain of strength are dependent on the replacement method of mineral Admixtures. The methods of using volumn ratio of cement in FIY ASH, weight ratio of cement in SILCA FUME are shown better workability and strength of concrete than any other replacement method.

Production of high strength concrete requires a low water-cement ratio and this leads to the high cement content. Mineral admixture like fly ash(FA) is often cheaper than ordinary portland cement(OPC) and this factor in combination with possible improvement in workability and moderation of the heat evolution of the cement-rich mixes tends to encourage its use. The other mineral admixture that its use has been widly advocated is silica fume that increases compressive strength due to its pozzolanic reaction. The objective of this study is to assess the contribution of mineral admixtures(FA, SF) to the workability and the strength of concrete with low water-binder ratios. In this experimental study that investigates and analyzes the properties of fresh concrete, it is presented that using admixtures like flysh and silica fume as binding material increases properties of high strength flowing concrete having very low water cementitious ratios of 0.25 and 0.30.

A chloride is an important deteriorating factor which governs the durability of the reinforced-concrete structures under marine environments. Also, the main penetration mechanism of chloride ion into concrete is a diffusion phenomenon. In this study, It is evaluated the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion in non-steady state by Fick's second law. Submergence method in salt water carried out in this experiment. Two types of cement which is different in mineral composition were used. In addition, the effect of mineral admixtures of blast-furnace slag and meta-kaolin was studied. In conclusion, the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion is much affected according to cement type and mineral admixtures, also, it is proved that meta-kaolin as well as blast-furnace slag is effective in preventing penetration of chloride ion.

The corrosion of reinforcement induced by chloride ingress is the main deterioration cause of coastal reinforced concrete structures. In this paper, an experimental study was executed to investigate the effect of the kinds and replacement ratios of mineral admixtures (fly-ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slag silica fume and meta-kaolin), W/B and curing time on chloride diffusion of concrete by long-time immersion test in chloride solution. According to the result, the use of mineral admixtures was effective in improving the resistant to chloride ingress. The chloride penetration depth and diffusion coefficient were decreased as replacement ratios of mineral admixture were increased. The kind and replacement ratio of the mineral admixture are more important than the W/B in reducing the chloride diffusion of concrete. Chloride binding capacity of mineral admixture, which was sequenced in the order of MK

This study is about the rheological properties of cement slurry using admixtures. The variables are the type of cement(Type I, II, IV, V) and the substitution ratio of admixtures such as fly ash and slag. As a result of measuring the fluidity of various types of cement slurry at the early stage, type 2, type 4 and type 5 showed the similar property. The fluidity of type 1 and ternary blended cement was low. it is thought that it is because of the high $C_3$A content. The cement slurries containing mineral admixtures were superior in the property of fluidity retention.
It has been well known that concrete structures exposed to acid and sulfate environments such as sewer, sewage and wastewater, soil, groundwater, and seawater etc. show significant decrease in their durability due to chemical attack. Such deleterious acid and sulfate attacks lead to expansion and cracking in concrete, and thus, eventually result in damage to concrete matrix by forming expansive hydration products due to the reaction between portland cement hydration products and acid and sulfate ions. Objectives of this experimental research are to investigate the effect of mineral admixtures on the resistance to acid and sulfate attack in concrete and to suggest high-resistance concrete mix against acid and sulfate attack. For this purpose, concretes specimens with three types of cement (ordinary portland cement (OPC), binary blended cement (BBC), and ternary blended cement (TBC) composed of different types and proportions of admixtures) were prepared at water-biner ratios of 32% and 43%. The concrete specimens were immersed in fresh water, 5% sulfuric acid, 10% sodium sulfate, and 10% magnesium sulfate solutions for 28, 56, 91, 182, and 365 days, respectively. To evaluate the resistance to acid and sulfate for concrete specimens, visual appearance changes were observed and compressive strength ratios and mass change ratios were measured. It was observed from the test results that the resistance against sulfuric acid and sodium sulfate solutions of the concretes containing mineral admixtures were much better than that of OPC concrete, but in the case of magnesium sulfate solution the concretes containing mineral admixtures was less resistant than OPC concrete due to formation of magnesium silicate hydrate (M-S-H) which is non-cementitious.
High performance concrete mixes are selected and corresponding test specimens are made for the study of chloride diffusion coefficient at reference time. The concrete mixes were same designs as those used in construction of bridges located in a marine environment. Mix design variables included binder type, water-to-binder ratio, mineral admixtures to total binder weight substitution ratio, fine aggregate source, chemical water reducer admixture type for high strength and high flowability, and target slump or slump flow. The test results showed that the diffusion coefficients at reference time varied significantly according to the type of mineral admixtures and their substitution ratios. A model for diffusion coefficient at reference time considering the type of mineral admixture and the substitution ratio was developed. Diffusion coefficients from the developed model were compared with those from literature review, a previous model, and additional test results. All of the comparisons verified that the developed model can reasonably predict diffusion coefficients and the application of the model to the durability design against chloride penetration is appropriate.

The method of concrete mix design used in this study aims to achieve the identical specified design strength, applying different types and replacement ratio of mineral admixtures and afterwards, fire tests were conducted using the standard time-temperature curve specified in the ASTM E119 to identify the influences of the types of mineral admixtures on the fire resistance performance of high strength concrete(HSC). The least spalling was observed in the test specimen containing blast furnace slag as a partial replacement of cement, while the most significant spalling phenomena were observed in the blast furnace slag test specimen that silica-fume was added in. In particular, the reasonable volume of spalling was observed when solely replaced by silica fume. However, the influence of the cement replacement by silica fume and blast furnace slag on the increases of spalling can be explained through blocked pores by the fine particles of silica fume, leading to decreases in permeability.
