유산균 발효유 종류에 따른 치아부식 위험도 평가 (Assessment of dental erosion potential by the type of fermented milk)

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of dental erosion by three different types of commercial fermented milk on the enamel surface of bovine teeth. Methods: Forty bovine teeth (four groups of 10) were immersed in fermented milk (experimental groups: liquid type, condense-stirred type and condense-drink type) or mineral water (control group) for 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. Enamel surface microhardness was measured before and after treatment with a microhardness tester, and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) was used to assess the enamel surface morphology. Results:Changes in enamel surface microhardness (before-after treatment; ${\Delta}VHN$) were significantly different among the four groups (p<0.05). ${\Delta}VHN$ was highest in the liquid type group, followed by the condense-stirred type, condense-drink type, and control groups. The ${\Delta}VHNs$ of three types of fermented milk groups were higher than that of the control group (p<0.05). The liquid type group showed higher ${\Delta}VHN$ than the other two types of condense fermented milk groups (p<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in ${\Delta}VHN$ between the two types of condense fermented milk (p>0.05). The results of SEM observation have shown the most severe surface damage in bovine teeth immersed in the liquid type of fermented milk. Conclusions: In this study, it appears that liquid type fermented milk causes greater development of dental erosion. The physical properties and pH of fermented milk types must be considered for prevention of dental erosion associated with ingestion of fermented milk.

탈락 유치 내 치수 세포의 보관 용액과 기간에 따른 생존 (Effect of Storage Media and Duration on Pulpal Cell Viability in Exfoliated Deciduous Teeth)

  • 가정에서 유치가 탈락하였을 경우 쉽게 구할 수 있는 저장 용액에 보관한 후, 보관되었던 유치에서 세포를 배양할 수 있다면 지금보다 더 많은 유치로부터 줄기 세포를 추출할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 유치의 치수 세포가 다양한 보관 용액의 종류와 기간에 영향을 받는지 확인해 보고자 하였다. 330개의 탈락 유치를 신선군, 건조군, 세포배양액 2, 4, 7일 보관군, 우유 2, 4, 7일 보관군, 생리식염수 2, 4, 7일 보관군으로 각각 30개씩 무작위로 나누었다. 각 군 간의 유치 치수 조직 세포의 일차 배양을 시행하여 성공한 개수와 실패한 개수를 계산하여 생존 성공률을 비교하였다. 일차 배양 결과 보관 기간이 늘어날수록 일차 배양 시 세포의 생존 성공률이 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 2일 보관군과 4일 보관군까지 세포배양액, 우유, 생리식염수 간의 보관 용액에 따른 성공률의 유의할 만한 차이는 없었다. 그러나 7일 보관군에서는 세포배양액에 비해 우유와 생리식염수에 보관한 유치에서 성공률이 유의하게 떨어지는 것으로 나타났다. 유치 발거 후 우유나 생리식염수 등의 보관용액에 일정 기간 보관 후 그 치수 조직을 세포 배양에 사용하는 것이 가능하지만 보관 기간이 길어질수록 세포 획득 가능성이 줄어든다.

수종의 저장용액에서의 치은섬유모세포 생존율의 비교연구 (Comparative study on survival rate of human gingival fibroblasts stored in different storage media)

  • Objectives : To Compare the degree of survival rate of gingival fibroblasts, which is concerned with teeth adherence based on the type of avulsed tooth's storage solution. Methods : Different media gingival fibroblasts were stored in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium(DMEM), Hank's balanced salt solution(HBSS), milk, saline, and green tea in for 1, 2, 3 hours. And, MTT assay was conducted to compare survival rate of human gingival fibroblasts. Results : 1. The survival rate of gingival fibroblasts in DMEM and HBSS was higher than thoes in other storage media( Milk> Saline> Green tea). 2. The survival rate of gingival fibroblasts in milk, saline and green tea decreased as time passed. 3. Because of low osmotic pressure, green tea showed decrease of survival rate of gingival fibroblasts. Conclusion : DMEM and HBSS were the most effective storage media for gingival fibroblast. Among milk, saline, green tea, milk is most effective storage media for keeping gingival fibroblasts. Milk is recommended for storage media of avulsed tooth for keeping viability of cells.

미취학 아동의 체중신장지수(WLI)와 혈액성분이 치아우식증에 미치는 영향 (The effect of weight length index and blood components on dental caries of preschool children)

  • Dental caries taking place with milk teeth affects eruption of permanent teeth adversely, and thus, it is very important to prevent dental caries from taking place with a child in maintaining his/her physical, mental and emotional health. In this study as conducted to obtain basic data to be required for development of a program for letting preschool children form a habitual life for oral health and right dietary life, a total 172 children aged 5 years and 6 years were selected from children who lived in Hwasung-si, Kyunggi-do and attended preschools (childrens houses) located there with the consent of their guardians. Then, the weight length index (WLI) and blood components of each child were analyzed, and each relation between the weight length index (WLI) and dental caries of milk teeth and between blood components and dental caries of milk teeth was comparatively examined, and thereby, the following results were obtained. When the dmf rate of each group according to the obesity was examined, it was found to be 87.50% in the under-weight group, 71.20% in the normal weight group and 83.87% in the overweight group. And when the dmft rate of each group was examined, it was found to be 48.43% in the under-weight group, 37.10% in the normal weight group and 47.17% in the overweight group. Also, when the dmft index of each group was examined, it was found to be 3.9 in the under-weight group, 3.0 in the normal weight group and 3.8 in the overweight group. That is to say, the under-weight group and the overweight group having an abnormal weight were found to be higher in all of the dmf rate, the dmft rate and the dmft index than the normal weight group. It could be, therefore, known that normal weight should be maintained in order to prevent dental caries of milk teeth. And, it is thought that a right dietary life habit ensuring intake of balanced nutrients should be formed for maintenance of a normal weight. As a result of examining the relation between nutrient components in blood and dental caries of milk teeth, in the case of children with no dental caries, inorganic nutrient components of blood had a tendency to be a little higher, but no statistical significance was observed therein. Meanwhile, it was found that there was a relation between blood type and the dmft index.

영유아기의 수유형태와 식행동이 치아우식증에 미치는 영향 -경기도 일부 지역 유아를 중심으로- (The Effects of Preschool Children′s Food Habits and Past Lactation Types on Dental Health Status -with Special Reference to the Preschool Children in a Section of Kyungki Province -)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of pre-school children's past lactation types and food habits on dental health status. This study was carried out by analyzing the information obtained from oral inspection of 163 preschool children and questionnaires answered by their mothers. The results are as follows: 1. 80.4% of the preschool children have decayed and filled teeth. 2. The older they are, the more decayed and filled teeth they have 3. The earlier they started to have weaning foods, the more decayed and filled teeth they have. Preschool children who started weaning foods after 12 months of their birth have significantly more decayed and filled teeth. 4. Preschool children who had weaning foods by using milk-bottles have significantly more decayed and filled teeth than others. 5. Preschool children who had weaning foods regularly have significantly less decayed and filled teeth. 6. Preschool children who have frequently skipped breakfast have the least decayed and filled teeth. 7. Preschool children who would like to have sweet things have significantly more decayed and filled teeth than others.

수유 요인에 따른 유치열의 치면별 우식패턴 (TOOTH SURFACE CARIES PATTERNS IN THE PRIMARY DENTITION ACCORDING TO BREAST OR BOTTLE FEEDING)

  • 연구목적은 모유 또는 분유 섭취 시 나타나는 유치열의 치면별 우식패턴에 차이가 없으며 수유기간에 따른 차이도 없다는 가설을 검증하는 것이었다. 익산시, 청주시, 울산광역시의 36-71개월 어린이 815명을 대상으로 구강검사로 치면별 우식경험도를 조사하고, 보호자들을 대상으로 설문지 조사법으로 모유와 분유 중에서 생후 1년간 주로 수유한 것과 수유 기간을 조사하였다. 모유군과 분유군 간 우식경험유치면수(dmf)의 차이는 유의하지 않았다. 모유군에서 분유군보다 우식경험도가 더 높았던 유치군은 상악 유전치이었고, 유치면군은 상악 유전치 협설면과 인접면이었으며, 유치는 상악 유절치와 상하악 제2유구치이었고, 유치면은 상악 유중절치의 협면과 원심면, 상악 유측절치의 협설면, 인접면, 상악 제2유구치의 설면, 인접면, 교합면, 하악 제2유구치의 협면, 원심면이었다. 모유군에서 수유기간이 증가함에 따라 우식경험유치면수가 증가한 유치군은 상악 유전치와 상악 유구치이었고, 유치면군은 상악 유전치의 인접면, 상악 유구치의 협설면, 인접면, 교합면, 하악 유구치의 인접면이었으며, 유치는 상악 유전치, 상악 유구치, 하악 제2유구치이었고, 유치면에서는 상악 유전치의 인접면, 상악 제1유구치의 협설면, 인접면, 교합면, 상악 제2유구치의 협면, 하악 제2유구치의 근심면이었다. 분유군에서는 수유기간 3년 이상에서 우식경험유치면수가 증가하였으나 차이가 유의하지 않았다. 수유와 관련되어 발생하는 상악 유절치의 중증 유아기 우식증은 분유를 수유하는 경우보다 모유를 수유하는 경우에 더 많이 발생하였다. 모유 수유를 2년 이상 하는 경우에는 상악 유절치의 우식 예방을 위한 조치가 필요하다.

타액, 모유, 분유에서의 Streptococcus mutans 활성도 차이 (Effect of Streptococcus mutans colinization activing in saliva, breast milk, formula milk)

  • Objectives : This study was performed to provide the basic data for oral health of infants, through the comparison of Streptococcus mutans activities(the representative bacteria of initial dental caries), in main nutritional foods for infants: breast milk, milk powder, and soya milk. Methods : The study targeted 30 infants and the saliva was sampled after the oral examination. The pH of sampled saliva was measured; and the sample of 'the saliva', 'the saliva and breast milk', and 'the saliva and formula milk' by researcher were produced; and the measurement was repeated 7 times. Results : As a result of examining the change of colony number of Streptococcus mutans by hour, the bacterial activity took in the source of nutrition took place in the first place; and in the group with dental caries, breast-feeding at night occurreds most frequently. Due to the combined activities, such as the increase in the contact time, the existence rate of dental caries appeared high. However, as the improvement of breast-feeding is closely related to the nutrition supply to babies, rather than the improvement of breast-feeding, the 12 hours after the culture in which Streptococcus mutans activities started was considered. Conclusions : In case of breast-feeding at night, it is necessary to remove the dental plaque in the mouth, before 12 hours has passed. Especially, using toothbrush and toothpaste to decrease the occurrence of dental caries, after the eruption of teeth, is recommended for oral administration.

창원지역 초등학생의 양치습관, 간식섭취빈도 및 충치실태 (Study on Toothbrushing Habits, Snack Intake Frequency, and Dental Caries in Primary School Students in Changwon City)

  • This study was conducted to provide basic information on toothbrushing habits, snack intake frequency, and current dental caries in elementary school students. A total of 188 students (105 boys and 83 girls) in Changwon city participated in this study. Dental examination was conducted by two dental hygienists in July, 2010. The results were as follows. Exactly 86.2% of students were shown to have dental caries, which includes a sealant and removed teeth due to decay. The average number of teeth with dental caries per student was 3.8. Exactly 60.6% of students were shown to maintain correct toothbrushing habits to prevent dental caries, but only 12.8% brushed their teeth immediately after a meal or snack. Exactly 82.4% percent of participants received toothbrushing education, 47.1% of them received it from an expert, 43.9% received from their parents, and 28.2% used tooth paste with fluorine. Regarding snack intake frequency, ice cream was the most consumed cariogenic food and white milk was the most consumed protective food. The >=7 teeth with dental caries group consumed higher frequency of carbonated beverages intake than the 'no dental caries' group (P<0.05), and the '5~6 teeth with dental caries' group consumed higher frequency of chocolate intake than 'no dental caries' group (P<0.05).

완전탈구된 치아의 보관매체에 관한 보호자, 구급대원, 응급의학과 의사의 인식도 (Awareness of Caregivers, Emergency Medical Technicians, and Emergency Medical Doctors about the Storage Media for Avulsed Teeth)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 치아의 완전탈구를 주소로 내원한 소아 청소년을 대상으로 보호자 및 구급대원과 응급의학과 의사가 보인 탈구치의 보관 방법을 조사하여 인식을 평가하고자 하였다. 최근 18년간 아주대학교 치과병원에서 영구치의 완전탈구로 진단받고 응급처치를 시행받은 만 17세 이하의 환자 183명을 대상으로 후향적 조사를 시행하였다. 조사 결과 치아의 보관매체로 부모와 보건교사 모두 우유를 가장 많이 이용하였다. 다음으로 부모는 건조 상태로, 보건교사는 생리식염수에 치아를 보관하는 비율이 높았다. 치아의 보관매체로 구급대원은 생리식염수를 가장 이용하였고 응급의학과 의사의 경우 재식 실패 시 생리식염수만을 이용하였다. 이상의 결과들을 통해 적합한 치아의 보관매체에 대한 교육이 필요할 것으로 사료되었다. 외상 현장에서 즉시 재식이 불가능할 경우, 치아의 보관매체로 우유가 권장되며 우유가 식염수보다 우수한 보관매체임에 관한 교육 역시 필요해 보였다. 보호자 및 응급처치를 행하는 구급대원과 응급의학과 의사들을 대상으로 완전탈구된 치아의 보관 방법에 대한 인식을 향상시킬 수 있는 체계적인 교육이 필요할 것으로 사료되었다.

유산균 발효유가 Streptococcus mutans의 생균수 및 biofilm 형성에 미치는 영향 (THE EFFECT OF FERMENTED MILK ON VIABLE CELL COUNT AND BIOFILM FORMATION OF STREPTOCOCCUS MUTANS)

  • 유산균이 위장관과 구강건강에 probiotics로서 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있음이 보고되고 있다. 이에 시판되는 유산균 발효유 5종과 우유를 선택하여 우식유발 원인균인 S. mutans에 대한 증식억제 및 biofilm 형성에 미치는 영향을 평가하고, 발효유의 산도, 완충능, 산생성능, 칼슘과 인의 함량을 측정하였다. 유산균 발효유에 S. mutans를 주입한 후 생균수를 측정한 결과 모든 발효유의 %가 증가함에 따라 S. mutans 수가 감소했으나 우유에서는 변화가 없었다. 10% 유산균 발효유에 S. mutans를 주입한 후 biofilm 형성 정도를 측정한 결과 액티브 GG, 불가리스는 biofilm 형성이 감소하였고, 이오는 유의한 변화가 없었으며, 투티, 에이스, 우유는 증가하였다(P<0.05). 유산균 발효유 및 우유의 산도를 측정한 결과 이오(3.48${\pm}$0.01), 투티(3.67${\pm}$0.02), 에이스(3.71${\pm}$0.02), 액티브 GG(4.04${\pm}$0.02), 불가리스(4.19${\pm}$0.02) 순으로 나타났다. 유산균 발효유의 산생성능을 평가한 결과 불가리스가 가장 높은 산생성능을 보였으며 액티브 GG, 에이스, 투티, 이오, 우유 순으로 산도 하강 경향을 나타냈다. 이상의 결과는 유산균 발효유가 초기산도 및 산생성능 측정 결과 우식유발 가능성이 있음을 나타냈다. 그러나 유산균 발효유 중에서 농후발효유가 우식유발균인 S. mutans를 억제하였고 biofilm 형성을 감소시켜 긍정적인 효과를 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
