유아의 우유군의 섭취가 식이의 다양성과 영양소 섭취의 적정도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Milk Group Intake to Dietary Diversity Score and Nutrient Adequacy Ratio among Toddler)

  • This research was conduced to 1) examine the influence of milk group intake on the dietary, considering dietary diversity and nutrient adequacy, 2) identify which foods truly contribute to the intake of specific nutrients 3) point out the dietary problems of this age group. The subjects were 664(male 357, female 307) healthy toddlers of the ages of 12-36 months, who had neither been taking any medicine-type supplements nor had any diseases that affect the dietary intakes, chosen among the outpatients of university and private hospitals in Seoul and Kyonggi province during Mach-August, 1999. The 24 hour recall method and CAN Pro(food analysis program) were used to analyze the amount of nutrient intake. The grouping of the subjects for the analysis by monthly age was based on the 98 Korean Child growth standard. The results that the milk group intake showed significant negative correlations with the grain group(r=-0.194, p<0.01), the vegetable group(r=-0.115, p<0.01) and the fruit group(r=-0.125, p<0.01). It also showed that the more the milk group intake, the lower the Dietary Diversity Score(r=-0.131, p<0.01), and the more the intake of raw milk, the more dificient the intake of iron(r=-0.211, p<0.01), vitamin A(r=-0.169,p<0.01), vitamin B$_1$(r=-0.078, p<0.05) and vitamin C(r=-0.187, p<0.01). Foods contributory to nutrient intake for of 12-14 months of were mostly infant formula, and the contribution ratio was high. In the age of 15-17 months, the subjects obtained most of the nutrients from raw milk., liquid-type yoghurt, soybean milk, cooked rice, etc. As for iron intake, the age of 21-23 month obtained the most from ionic drinks, and 24-29 months from raw milk, chocolate cakes, ionic drinks, etc. Though the NAR(Nutrient Adequacy Ratio) and MAR(Mean Adequacy Ratio) generally tended to increase accordingly with the DDs, as for nutrients Ca, vitamin A, vitamin B$_1$, and vitamin C the NAR marked the highest when the DDS marked the lowest(due to infant formula). And for iron, even when the DDS was 5 the NAR value was low. Im conclusion, the more the milk group intake, the lower was the dietary diversity. High dependency on infant formula and others from milk group over the age of 12 months proved to result in a decrease of nutritious solid food intake, iron deficiency and a low dietary diversity score, which can lead to an unbalanced diet. Therefore, nutrition education towards mothers/caretakers of toddler is of urgent need, in order to reduce the fluid milk group intake of low nutritional density and to provide various solid foods the children. 모유의 철분,아연 및 구리 함량과 모유 영양아의 모유와 미량원소 섭취량에 관한 연구 (A Study on Iron, Zinc and Copper Contents in Human Milk and Trace Element Intakes of Breast-fed Infants)

  • 한국인 수유부 21명 의 모유에 함유된 철분, 아연, 및 구리의 함량을 경시적으로 초유부터 12주의 성숙유에 이르기까지 일정한 간격으로 세분하여 비교 검토하고, 생후 6~7주 된 14명의 모유영양아에 대한 1일 모유 및 미량원소 섭취량을 조사하였다. 모유에 함유된 이 세가지 미량원소들의 함량은 수유기간에 따라 유의적으로 감소 하였으며 모유의 평균 철분 함량은 초유에서 0.33$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$, 이행유에서 0.31$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ 그리고 성숙유에서 0.2$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$이었고, 아연 농도는 각각 4.15$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$, 3.51$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$과 2.8$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$이었으며 초유와 이행유 그리고 성숙유의 평균 구리 농도는 각각 0.21$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$, 0.34$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ 및 0.26$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$로 측정 되었다. 모유영양아의 평균 1일 모유 섭취량은 768g이었으며 모유를 통한 미량원소의 1일 평균 섭취량은 철분 0.19mg, 아연 2.10mg, 그리고 구리는 0.15mg 이었다. 앞으로 수유기간에 따른 모유내 미량원소 함량의 감소가 영아의 성장 발달 및 급식과 어떻게 관련되는가에 관한 연구와, 모유 영양아와 인공 영양아의 체내 미량윈소 영양 상태 비교가 이루 어져야 하겠으며 한국인 영아를 위한 영양 권장량은 성장이 양호한 모유 영양아의 영양소 섭취량을 기준하여 책정하는 것이 바람직 하다고 본다.

모유영양아의 인공영양아의 두발내 철분, 아연 및 구리의 함량비교 (Comparison of Hair Iron , Zinc and Copper Concentrations of Breast Fed and Formula Fed Infants)

  • The objectives of this study were to examine the growth pattern and hair trace element contents of healthy infants who were fed breast milk(BF infant) and formula (FF infant) during the first 6 months and its relationship to intake of trace elements. Bimonthyl anthropometric measurements were obtained on 32 infants through 6 months of age. Mean calculated energy, iron, zinc and copper intake from breast milk at 2 months of age were 432.4kcal/d, 0.19mg/d, 1.18mg/d and 0.22mg/d. The values obtained from formular were543.7kcal/d, 6.68mg/d , 2.82mg/d and 0.33mg/d , respectively. In spite of the significantly lower intake of energy and trace elements in BF infants than in FF infants, BF infants showed growth above the average Kroean infant standard growth rate and showed no significant growth rate difference or hair trace element content. Hair iron content in the BF infants at 6 mo. of age was positively related to birth weight and iron intake at 2 mo. of age. In contrast, hair zinc and copper content in the FF infants at 6 mo. of age as negatively related to height increment and weight increment during 6 months, respectively. These results support the suggesting that BF infant's higher iron, zinc and copper intake is attributed to the superior bioabailability of these trace elements from breast milk.

Longitudinal Study of Iron Concentration in Korean Preterm Human Milk

  • 목적: 미숙아에게 필요한 영양성분을 알기 위해서는 그들의 모유 성분을 분석하는 것이 도움이 된다. 저자들은 미숙아 모유의 장기적인 철분함량의 변화를 관찰하고 만삭아 모유와 비교하였으며, 이를 토대로 모유수유만 하는 미숙아에서 철분 보충의 필요성과 지침에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 재태연령 34주 미만이거나 출생체중 1,800 g 미만의 미숙아를 출산한 산모 103명으로부터 생후 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12주의 모유를 수집하였고, 만삭아의 모유는 24명의 산모로부터 생후 1주째에 수집하여 철분함량을 분석하였다. 결과: 생후 2주에서 8주 사이의 미숙아 모유내의 철분함량은 유의한 차이가 없었으며(36.3${\pm}$23.1~45.8${\pm}$26.0 $\mu$g/dL), 이는 생후 1주째의 미숙아모유 (23.1${\pm}$14.6 $\mu$g/dL)나 만삭아 모유(25.2${\pm}$7.55 $\mu$g/dL)의 철분함량보다는 유의하게 높았다. 교정나이로 만삭이 된 미숙아의 모유(42.2${\pm}$19.4 $\mu$g/dL)는 만삭아의 모유보다 유의하게 높은 철분함량을 나타내었다. 결론: 미숙아 모유의 철분함량은 생후 3개월까지 큰 차이가 없었으며, 이는 필요량보다 적어 모유수유만 할 경우 AAPCON(2004)에서 권유하는 대로 2 mg/kg/day의 철분을 보충하는 것이 좋겠다.

The Effect of Milk Supplementation on Bone Density and Iron Status of Elderly

  • This study was performed to investigate how milk supplementation can benefit the elderly by increasing bone density but possibly harming the iron status concomitantly. Forty one elderly subjects over 65 years of age(male : 9, female : 32) participated. All subjects were apparently healthy, home staying and attending meal service for lunch at the welfare center. They were from low income area of Puchon city. One cup of milk per day was served for 10 months. The mean intake of calcium was significantly increased for females after milk supplementation. Males showed significantly increased means of triceps skinfold thickness, suprailiac skinfold thickness and waist circumference. Females showed significantly increased measurements fo three kinds of skinfold thickness, waist circumference, and hip circumference. There were no significant change in the mean bone density of lumbar spine$(L_2~L_4)$, femoral neck, ward's triangle and torchanter, but the proportion of osteopenia estimated by the T score of lumbar spine bone density was lowered from 50.0% to 34.6% for females. The mean Hb level was significantly for males. The proportion of anemia estimated by Hb(<12g/dl), Hct(<36%) and serum ferritin(<15mg/ml) were increased from 17.2% to 51.7%, from 20.7% to 44.8% and from 10.3% to 17.2%, respectively for females. It looks like milk supplementation can effect the intakes of several nutrients considered to be commonly deficient in the Korean diet fo elderly people, increase some anthropometric measurements, and decrease the proportion of osteopenia. However it can have adverse effects on iron status of females.

유아보충식 제공이 유아의 철분영양상태 및 발달에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Supplementary Diet on Iron Status and Development in Infants)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of supplementary diet in infants. Influence of appropriate dietary habits on infants was also examined by being applicable to diets fortified chewiness as a means of intervention. The iron supplementary diet was supported to the healthy infants twice a day for three months. Measures of hemoglobin, hematocrit, RBC count, serum iron, TIBC, ferritin, development examination, and dietary intake patterns of experimental group (n = 25) and control group (n = 20) were performed before and after the intervention. The amount of iron intake from the supplementary diet in the experimental group was $1.77{\pm}0.80 {\cal}mg/day$. After the intervention period, the experimental group not only had increased intakes of grains also decreased intakes of milk. Outcomes observed in infants receiving iron intervention showed that the improved trend of excessive milk intakes and the possibility as a regular diet by serving the iron supplementary diet which can apply to main dish. All measures in blood did not provide significant differences except TIBC between the experimental and the control group before the intervention. But, after the intervention, the experimental group improved most levels of measures, especially significance in hemoglobin, but serum iron. Development of two groups did not differ significantly and both groups were in the range of normal infants' development. However, the levels of MDI and PDI evaluated by BSID-II in the experimental group were slightly higher than the control. Furthermore, the development of cognitive and languistic function was associated with infant growth in the experimental group. In conclusion, this research demonstrated that the iron supplementary diet could affect the iron status and the development of infants despite low-dose supplementation of iron.

영양공급형태에 따른 영아의 영양소 섭취와 보충식 실태에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Nutrient Intakes and Supplemental Food of Infants in Relation to the Method of Feeding Practics)

  • The surveys of food intakes were carried out on 49 healthy infants aged 4-9 months at the first interview and repeated 3 more times at the interval of 2 months by using food diary recorded by their mothers. Of the subjects 12 were breast-fed, 28, formula-fed, and 9, mixed type-fed. Foods introduced first as the weaning food were commercial weaning foods, fruit juices, yoghurt, egg and rice. Supplemental food was introduced at the age of 4 months in 57% of the infants, but it amounted to a significant proportion of overall food consumption from the age of 6 months. The levels of nutrients except energy, iron and niacin were similar or in excess of RDA, and breast-fed infants tended to have lower intakes of energy and protein compared to infants formula-fed or mixed type-fed. Average intakes of vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin C and calcium were above RDA, but iron intake did not meet RDA of infants of all ages. In conclusion, the average status of nutrient intakes of infants was fairly good, however, food consumption besides milk was less in breast-fed infants than in formula-fed infants, and iron status seemed to be poor, Although it is well-known that breast-milk compared to formulas is more beneficial for infants, mothers feeding breast-milk to their infants should be educated for the importance of supplemental food and its practice to support good nutrition.

  • A balance study was conducted to determine the requirements of iron, copper, cobalt and manganese in crossbred calves. Six calves were fed milk average 10 percent of their body weight and were supplemented with 15 g mineral mixture daily. A balance trial was conducted at $2\frac{1}{2}$ months of age. The primary route of excretion was through digestive tract as 99.87, 80.99, 77.27 and 99.94 percent of Fe, Cu, Co and Mn were excreted through faeces. The requirements of Fe, Cu, Co and Mn were computed using the respective mineral balance data and were found to be 169.60, 7.20, 4.48 and 8.89 mg/kg respectively.

  • Milk and milk products, especially the cow's milk and cheese, have been used since the ancient time. Because they contains almost all kinds of nutrients that are necessary for human beings except for iron, n-3 fatty acid, and vitamin C. Milk is an excellent dietary source of protein, calcium and phosphorus. The biological value of milk protein is as high as those of red meat and eggs. So cheese, a food processed from concentrated milk protein, is highly recommended food for the patient of diabetes mellitus. Because the major form of milk lipids is n-6 fatty acid, milk and milk products may not be a good food for the patients of cardiovascular disease. But the nutritional quality of milk lipids cannot be inferior to those of margarine, fish oil, and vegetable oil. Milk has been produced commercially since 1936 in Korea. The most popular milk product is a drink milk now in Korea. But according to the change of dietary pattern the consumption of yoghurt and cheese has been enormously increased during the last 20 years. As the soy sauce, tofu, and soy been paste have been the fundamental seasoning and source of protein in Korea, milk and cheese have consisted the essential flavor of western cuisine. But the basic idea for the usage of protein, peptides, and amino acids are the same. We found that milk and milk products can be nicely added in many Korean dishes such as Juk, Mandoo, Jeon, and Bindeatuk for the diversity of traditional flavor.

폐경후 여성의 골밀도에 대한 영양소 섭취실태의 영향 (Effect of Nutrient Intake on Bone Mineral Density in Postmenopausal Women)

  • This study was designed to investigate the effect of nutrient intake on bone mineral density (BMD) of the lumbar spine(L2longrightarrowL4) in 41 postmenopausal women. The BMD of the lumbar spine was positively correlated with caiorie protein animal protein fat animal fat calcium animal calcium milk ad dairy calcium phosphorus iron animal iron vitamin A thiamin animal calcium milk and dairy calcium phosphorus iron animal iron vitamin A thiamin riboflavin niacin and ascorbic acid intake. Postmenopausal wmen of BMD$\geq$100% showed enhanced calorie protein fat calcium phosphrous niacin intake compared women of BMD<100% In the group of calorie protein riboflavin intake$\geq$recommended dietary allowances(RDA) BMD was significantly higher than BMD in the group of these nutrient intakes$\geq$700 mg/d is significantly higher than BMD that of examined using stepwise multiple regression analysis. From this analysis in subjects aged 50~59 years fat intake only in subjects aged 60~69 years niacin intake Ca/P in total subjects fat riboflavin intake were signifiant independent predictors of BMD In the group of menopausal significant independent predictor of BMD This study suggests that dietary calcium is a major constituent affecting lumbar spin BMD in postmenopausal women whose menopausal period is over than 5 years.
