오염물질 확산방지를 위한 운영중 군 사격장 환경관리방안에 대한 고찰 (An Environmental Management Protocol for the Mitigation of Contaminants Migration from Military Operational Ranges)

  • Pollutants such as heavy metals and explosives originating from the military operational ranges can be migrated to adjacent surface water body or offsite soil, and can affect to local residents and aquatic ecosystem. Therefore, Korea Ministry of the National Defense has established various guidelines for environmental management including the installation of pollutant migration prevention facilities (PMPFs) and monitoring methodologies for heavy metals in the operational range soil and effluent and sediment of PMPFs. However, current guidelines neither address the explosive compounds such as 2, 4, 6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) and hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX) nor suggest detailed environmental investigation protocol. This paper introduces the new “Environmental Management Manual for Military Firing Ranges”, which includes the environmental criteria for explosives as well as the detailed investigation protocol for the affected environmental media including soil, effluent and sediment of PMPFs.

Operational Risk Assessment for Airworthiness Certification of Military Unmanned Aircraft Systems using the SORA Method

  • Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) are rapidly emerging not only as a key military power, such as surveillance and reconnaissance for military purposes but also as a new air transportation means in the form of Urban Air Mobility (UAM). Currently, airworthiness certification is carried out focused on the verification of technical standards for flight safety suitability of aircraft design in accordance with the Military Aircraft Flight Safety Certification Act and does not employ the model for operational risk assessment for mission areas and airspace. In this study, in order to evaluate the risk of the mission area from the perspective of the UAS operator, a risk assessment simulation has been conducted by applying the Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) model to the operating environment of the Korean military UAS. Also, the validity of the SORA model has been verified through the analysis of simulation results, and a new application plan for airworthiness certification of the military unmanned aerial system has been presented.

  • In this paper, development procedures of an Underwater Vehicle HILS/MILS System in SE(Synthetic Environment) are described. As this System is developed, we can obtain the more powerful tool which can be used to test and verify operational logics and algorithms of an Underwater Vehicle as well as its hardware in various tactical situations.

  • 대한민국의 정보화 기술의 발전속도는 빠르게 성장하고 있고 IT기술은 세계최고의 수준으로 발전하였다. 특히, IT기술을 군사분야의 전쟁지휘체계에 접목하여 네트워크 중심의 작전환경을 구축하였다. 그러나 병무행정과 병영정보화는 많은 부분이 미흡한바 병영의무자와 부모에게 편익을 제공하고 군 복무간에 장병들이 온라인 체계를 이용한 학습여건 보장 등 IT시대에 부합된 병무행정과 병영정보화 기반체계를 발전시키고자 개선방안을 제시하였다.

  • 무선 통신에 대한 요구는 민간 분야에서 뿐만 아니라 군 에서도 계속해서 증가하고 있다. 그러므로 무선 통신 기술의 개선이 사용자 요구에 부응할 필요가 있다. 무선 통신 기술의 활용에 있어서 주요 단점 중 하나는 할당된 주파수 대역의 많은 부분이 미 사용되는 스펙트럼의 비 효율적인 사용이라고 할 수 있다. 군 통신에 있어서 스펙트럼 부족문제는 다국적 연합 작전과 같은 상황에서 성공적인 작전을 수행하는데 제한사항이 될 수도 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결할 수 있는 방안으로 인지무선 네트워크는 실시간 사용 가능한 스펙트럼을 찾아서 사용할 수 있도록 해주는 중요한 기술이다. 또한 인지무선 네트워크 기술은 간섭을 피하고 시스템 전체의 스펙트럼 효율성을 개선하며 다양한 환경에서 유연성을 제공하는 등 스펙트럼 관련 문제들을 해결할 수 있다. 본 논문은 인지무선 네트워크의 군 작전환경에서의 활용 방안을 구체적으로 분석하여 제시하였으며 실제 작전 상황별로 적용 가능한 최적의 방안을 제시하였다.

군 모바일 단말기를 위한 자가적응 소프트웨어 기반 MOSAIC 아키텍처 설계 및 검증 (A Design and Verification of MOSAIC Architecture Based on Self-Adaptive Software for the Military Mobile Equipment)

  • An environment in which the software is operated become more complex and changed dynamically. Such software requires the ability to adapt in accordance with operating environments, by monitoring the changes of user requirements and operating environments. Especially, the mobile device used in military operation requires more dynamical adaptation than the mobile device in normal environment. In this paper, we propose MOSAIC architecture based on Self-Adaptive Software suitable for military mobile device and verify the results. The proposed architecture consists of context manager, evaluation manager and adaptation manager. We simulate the MOSAIC architecture by modelling PRE(Position Reporting Equipment) used in the army and verify four types of operational mode and dynamical reconfiguration of user interface.

  • When a weapon system is developed, climate elements such as temperature, rainfall, and so on have an effect on development costs and a developing period. Therefore, effects of environment and climate must be examined throughly before the design of weapon systems and be applied to their developments. And so, operational and storage requirements for weapon systems are determined and are applied to related tests through analyzing not only environmental factors such as vibration, shock, and so on, but also climate factors. In this paper, the distribution and the frequency of occurrence of rainfall were analyzed and were suggested as a good guide to determine standards of tests for weapon systems when it's raining.

사이버공격 추적시스템 운용아키텍처 (Cyberattack Tracing System Operational Architecture)

  • APT cyber attacks have been a problem for over a past decade, but still remain a challenge today as attackers use more sophisticated techniques and the number of objects to be protected increases. 'Cyberattack Tracing System' allows analysts to find undetected attack codes that penetrated and hid in enterprises, and to investigate their lateral movement propagation activities. The enterprise is characterized by multiple networks and mass hosts (PCs/servers). This paper presents a data processing procedure that collects event data, generates a temporally and spatially extended provenance graph and cyberattack tracing paths. In each data process procedure phases, system design considerations are suggested. With reflecting the data processing procedure and the characteristics of enterprise environment, an operational architecture for CyberAttack Tracing System is presented. The operational architecture will be lead to the detailed design of the system.

네트워크 중심 작전 환경을 위한 정보 브로커 아키텍처 설계 및 평가 (Design and Evaluation of Information Broker Architecture for Network-Centric Operational Environment)

  • 효율적인 네트워크 운용으로 정보우위를 선점하는 것은 지휘결심의 속도를 가속화 하여 임무달성을 가능하게 하는 핵심 요소이다. 네트워크 중심전(NCW, Network-Centric Warfare) 개념의 등장 이후, 한국군은 정보공유 효과를 향상하기 위해 네트워크 중심 작전 환경(NCOE, Network-Centric Operational Environment)을 구축하여 효율적 정보공유 능력을 갖추고자 한다. 본 논문에서는 한국군 정보공유 환경의 제한을 극복하고, 미래 확장성과 정보공유 가능성을 극대화하기 위한 정보 브로커 아키텍처를 설계한다. 정보 브로커는 사용자와 정보 제공자 사이에서 중간자로 존재하며, 중재 및 관리 기능과 함께 보안의 기능을 제공한다. 또한 제시된 정보 브로커 아키텍처는 기존 아키텍처 설계관점 평가를 통해 일관성을 검증하고, 운용 아키텍처 설계 개념이 구현된 것을 확인하였다.

국방획득 과정에서 SE개념 기반의 군사력건설 설계 방법론 연구(영향요인 우선순위 결정 중심으로) (A Study on the Design Methodology of SE-Based Military Force Construction in Defense Acquisition Process (Focusing on Influencing Factor Priorities))

  • This paper focuses on the SE concept based on the weapon system design, which is the lack of systematic research at the stage of military requirements creation prior to acquisition management phase. Influence factors were derived by focusing on the core issues that were at issue in the process of requirements analysis, requirements verification, and business management in recent years. Next, the impact factor was prioritized using the AHP technique and then alternatives were suggested. As a result, through the hierarchical analysis process, 'substantiation of necessity' was found to be the most important factor in the large category, and 'satisfaction of the operating concept' was the most important factor. In addition, as a result of calculating the final weight for each nutritional factor, it was analyzed in order of 'enemy threat response ability', 'response to operational environment change', 'performance considering operational environment', and 'guaranteed power generation'. The results of this analysis suggest which factors should be focused on, firstly, based on the concept of SE by the military and JCS.
