This study emphasized on the facts of the preparation for monk military with the confucian Jungbong Joheon against the invasion of Japanese military in the time of Japanese invasion of Korea and the martyrdom in the combat of Cheongju fortress and the 1st, the 2nd combats of Geumsan fortress. Especially, tens of thousands of Monk soldiers under the reverend general Yeonggyu at the very first time uprisen in the Buddhist world and let the rebellion continue nationwide as relying on his teacher Cheongheo Hyujeong and his co-monks. The record related to such monk military was found in 'Jinsanmirukchohongi (珍山彌勒寺招魂記)': the reverend general Yeonggyu and monk military officers (義兵將 判官僧 1 person, 義兵將僧 8 persons, 從事官僧 2 persons, 軍官僧 1 person), but in the record of the Jongyong monastery, it is said, 'the reverend Yeonggyu and his soldiers'. The soldiers of the reverend Yeong'gyu are right the monk troop, the existence of about 20 persons is confirmed in the chronicles and other sorts of literary collections. However, other information was hardly found in those sources, so I look forward to having further researches on the details of other monk solders with their dharma names and conducts which they did with patriotism.

So far, anti-piercing depths for concrete slabs have been determined using Conventional Weapon's Effects Program(CONWEP) that was developed by the U. S. Army's Corps of Engineering. However, it has been suggested by a number of field officers that the values computed by CONWEP tend to be too high for protective facilities used in small military units and that indiscriminate application of these values to such facilities would lead to uneconomical penetration-proof designs. In this study, gunshots onto RC slabs were carried out using KM80 bullets in order to measure the piercing depths. The observed depths and the depths offered by the CONWEP system differed greatly from each other by up to 119 centimeters. Based on the depth values obtained through this experiment, we have proposed a new equation to calculate effective anti-piercing depths for RC slabs against small caliber bullets.

ROTC is the system that selects the best students in university and implements the military training of two years and uses them as beginning commander of the army by commissioning as officers. ROTC makes up a very large portion of the army and society in Korea in terms of the size and role. Therefore, it is very important to enhance intangible combat power of the Korean army by improving leadership of primary grade officer from ROTC. The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether or not ROTC candidate training program is providing the right training, so as to improve ROTC's leadership and present improvement plan. First, we divide ROTC candidate training program into three areas and take the 1st and 2nd survey. Then we compare and analyze the actual condition and recognition of investigation using statistical analysis methods such as chi-square test, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. Also, we analyze the element affecting the army leader's three qualities formation which are basic elements of ROTC cadet's leadership using multiple regression analysis.
The purpose of this study is to reveal the process of enactment and revision, the contents of the police uniform system by the Government-General of Joseon, and to examine the relationship between the uniform system and the ruling policies of Imperialist Japan. The research methodology involved document research of official gazettes that published legislation on the police uniform system. Political background was referenced from various preceding studies. The research results are as follows. The Japanese invasion of Korea, in regards to the police, appeared as infiltrations through the three routes of consular police, temporary military police, and inside the Korean police. Each organization had different uniform systems, and after the installation of the Japanese police in 1907, the uniform system of high level officers of the Korea police was changed to the Japanese-style. After the installation of the Government-General of Joseon in 1910, a police uniform system was not enacted until 1918, with the exception being made for police officers due to the military police system. The 'Police Officer Uniform System of the Government-General of Joseon' enacted in 1918 stood out for its golden insignia on solidly colored fabric, which effectively indicated rank, as well as the Japanese flag pattern and the cherry blossom pattern, which symbolized imperialist Japan, on the cap badge and insignia. The 1918 uniform system had many differences from the Japanese system of the time in terms of design, perhaps due to the political autonomy of the governor-general. The 1918 uniform system was completely revised in 1932. This uniform system was modified in various ways. The system was almost identical to the Japanese system at that time. This is the result of Japan's intent to dominate Korea, which involved assimilating Korea into Japan with the purpose of conducting a full-fledged invasion of the continent after the Manchurian Incident.

The purpose of this study is to study internal and external factors affecting entrepreneurial intention of korean professional soldiers who are supposed to retire less than one year. Another main focus of this study is to find out whether there is mediating effect of entrepreneurial support programs for entrepreneurial intentions. In this research, data were collected from 361 officers and non-commission officers who are scheduled to retire from the military within 5 months to one year after at least 10 years of military service. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS using the regression analysis method. In this study, we found that internal factors did not positively affect entrepreneurial intentions, however, external factors positively affected entrepreneurial intentions. It was also found that entrepreneurial support programs played important role as moderating variables between social perceptions toward entrepreneurs and their entrepreneurial intentions. Based on these findings, implications of research implications are discussed, and recommendations for future research were provided.

This paper presents an investigation into Cheollik based on 288 records about it at the homepage of The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty on the Internet. Cheollik was called in diverse names and worn by various social classes from kings to common people, but it was solidified as clothes for military officers toward the latter half of Joseon. Not only did it serve the purpose of clothes, but it also was used for a royal grant, diplomacy, shrouding a corpse, and royal coffin. It served the diplomatic purposes a lot especially during the reign of King Sejo and King Seongjong. Cheollik was usually made of cotton, hemp, silk, and mixed fabric with silk used most. Its major colors include white, green, red, blue, black, purple, grey, and yellow with white used most. The fabrics and colors of Cheollik became simplified toward the latter half of Joseon. Silk was most used in Cheollik for a royal grant, shrouding a corpse, and royal coffin. White was most used in Cheollik for kings' visit to royal tombs or their participation in ancestral rites. There were limitations with the selection of materials according to the social status and situations. It was stipulated that only Sa and Ju were used to make Cheollik for Dangsangguan and Danghaguan. Cheollik made of silk was banned for country residents and merchants. The color of Cheollik for Danghaguan was changed to blue and then red. Of military officers, only those who had a Gonsu title or higher were allowed to wear Cheollik made of silk in various colors. In the end, Cheollik was abolished for its low convenience and efficiency during the rule of King Gojong.
Korea's ROTC system was introduced from the United States in 1961 to recruit competent primary grade officers and secure reserve forces in peacetime. However, entering the 2000s, it was faced with a serious crisis, which was a decrease of the application rate due to the change in the acquisition environment including the decrease in school-age population and military service resources due to the low fertility, and the shortened period of military service. Therefore, this study tried to suggest a ROTC system improvement plan focusing on the organizational structure and operation system by analyzing the change in the acquisition environment and the cause of decrease in the application rate. As a research method, a comparative method between the cases of the ROTC systems in the US and Korea was applied through domestic and foreign literature studies. In terms of theory, Strategic Human Resource Management, which is applied to corporate management to achieve organizational performance and secure comparative competitive advantage in a knowledge-based society, was used as a theoretical criterion.
This paper analyzes which of the military sub-fields has an effect on a soldier's evaluation of South and North Korean military power. There are three objectives of this paper. First, it is to analyze whether the South is superior to the North in the overall military power and military sub -fields, without the presence of the US armed forces in South Korea. Second, it is to assess which of the military sub-fields influences the overall evaluation of military power through a regression analysis. Finally, it is to look at whether the professional soldiers have a motivational bias, due to an argument that the military personnel tend to exaggerate the inferiority of their own military power to get more budget for defense construction. Research in 2002 and 2003 tell us that South Korean military power is slightly inferior to North Korea's. However, research in 2005 shows that military power of South and North Korea is almost equal. The sub-fields in which South Korea is superior are in the order of War Sustainability, Information Warfare, Air Force, and Navy. North Korea is regarded to be superior in the fields of Atomic Biological Chemical Warfare Capability, Special Force, Reserve Mobilization, and Army. The higher ranked soldiers tend to evaluate that the North is superior to the South.

Purpose: To date, studies of firearm and explosive injuries in the Korean military have been limited compared to its importance. To overcome this, this study examined the characteristics of musculoskeletal damages in soldiers who have suffered firearm and explosive injuries over the past four years. Materials and Methods: From January 2015 to July 2019, military forces who had suffered musculoskeletal injuries from firearms or explosive substances were included. The medical records and radiographs were reviewed retrospectively, and telephone surveys about Short Musculoskeletal Functional Assessment (SMFA) for this group were conducted. To compare the functional outcomes, statistical analysis was performed using a t-test for the types of weapons, and ANOVA for others. Results: Of the 61 patients treated for firearms and explosives injuries, 30 patients (49.2%) were included after undergoing orthopedic treatment due to musculoskeletal injury. The average age at injury was 26.4 years old (21-52 years old). The number of officers and soldiers was similar. Eleven were injured by gunshot and 19 by an explosive device. Sixteen were treated in the Armed Forces Capital Hospital and 10 at private hospitals. More than half of the 16 patients (53.3%) with a fracture had multiple fractures. The most common injury site was the hand (33.3%), followed by the lower leg (30.0%). There were 14 patients (46.7%) with Gustilo-Anderson classification 3B or higher who required a soft tissue reconstruction. Fifteen patients agreed to join the SMFA survey for the functional outcomes. Between officers and soldiers, officers had better scores in the Bother Index compared to soldiers (p=0.0045). Patients treated in the Armed Forces Capital Hospital had better scores in both the Dysfunction and Bother Index compared to private hospitals (p=0.0008, p=0.0149). Conclusion: This is the first study to analyze of weapons injuries in the Korean military. As a result of the study, the orthopedic burden was high in the treating patients with military weapon injuries. In addition, it is necessary to build a military trauma registry, including firearm and explosive injuries, for trauma treatment evaluation and development of military trauma system.
This study investigated the factors influencing the perceptions that military officers can harbor regarding persons who stutter in terms of how well they can adapt to the army. In total, 89 participants were randomly assigned to each of the three different conditions ("fluent speech"=23, "mildly stuttered speech"=34, and "severely stuttered speech"=32). Subsequently, the participants were asked to listen and rate each sample in terms of "the speaker's communicative functioning (i.e., speech fluency, intelligibility, naturalness, speech rate), personal traits (i.e., likeability, anxiety level, intellectual level, and sociability), and the perceived degree of the adaptability to the army." The results showed that significant differences were found between "fluent speech" and "severely stuttered speech" in the perceived communicative functionings and the perceived adaptability to the army. Moreover, there were significant differences in the same variables between "mildly stuttered speech" and "severely stuttered speech." However, there were no significant differences between "mildly stuttered speech" and "fluent speech." Following the conducting of the Pearson correlation test, strong correlations were also found between the perceived communicative functionings, in particular "speech fluency," and the perceived adaptability to the army. Those results can be employed to argue that the communicative functionings can serve as factors which influence the perceptions of persons who stutter in terms of how well they can adapt to the army. Further discussion has taken place regarding the relationship between the perceived communicative functionings and the perceived adaptability to the army.
