  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of Korean medicine treatment, and to analyze problems and demands to provide basic data on Korean medicine in military medical services. Methods: This survey was completed by 30 volunteer Korean medicine military doctors on service via a web-based questionnaire system. The questionnaire was developed through in-depth interviews with Korean medicine military doctors and consisted of general information on the subject, overall characteristics of the medical environment, current status of Korean medicine care in each workplace, problems and needs, and related clinical evidence and education. Results: Korean medicine military doctors administered acupuncture treatment most frequently in clinical practice. The most common complaints were related to musculoskeletal diseases, which accounted for 86.5% of all diseases, including those of the respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems. Most of the problems in Korean medicine care were pointed out as being due to a lack of awareness of Korean medicine in the military. Many doctors were aware that it is necessary to establish clinical evidence for Korean medicine in the military, and were also positive about the possibility of performing clinical research in the military, but the experience of actual participation in clinical research or related education was uncommon. Conclusions: Korean medicine military treatment differs from private medical care due to the specificity of each workplace and the military medical system. In the future, it will be necessary to establish an appropriate Korean medicine treatment model in the military suitable for these characteristics and strategic plans for clinical evidence.

  • From a phenomenological perspective on military human resources to carry out the government's "Defense Vision 2050" project, this study presents the direction of revision of the military pension along with the age and continuous retirement age system under Article 8 of the Military Personnel Act and the promotion criteria under Article 33 of the Enforcement Decree of the Military Act. The Military Personnel Act and the Enforcement Decree of the Military Personnel Act, which was created 60 years ago, are contrary to the equity of the current situation in 2022, and the conflicts continue to be drawn in terms of internal and external aspects of military human resources carrying out the "Defense Vision 2050" project, which is the keynote of the government's policy. In addition, this is linked to the national financial burden of military pension finances. Therefore, this study began with the need to revise the Military Personnel Act so that excellent human resources can continue to be introduced into a military system and perform stable duties through retirement age guarantee systems rather than class retirement.

  • This research derived five success factors(the characteristics of system, knowledge, management, organization and users) for knowledge management system(KMS) and empirically analyzed the influence on the performance(usage and user satisfaction) by setting these characteristics to military KMS. This study shows that user characteristic affects most positive(+) effect to usage, and knowledge characteristic affects most positive(+) effect to user satisfaction but organization characteristic affects negative(-) effect to usage and user satisfaction. The result of this research illustrates the successful operation of military KMS and expects the early settlement of the military forces that will establish KMS by reducing initial trial and errors.

  • There has not been any scientific analysis on appropriate size of workforce and salary for civilian workers in military so far. Thus, this paper conducted analysis on propriety in employment size of military doctrine researchers using system dynamic methodology based on annual military doctrine workload. Vensim software was mainly used to measure complement of the research group based on data from job analysis. Secondly, a multiple regression analysis was performed to study an appropriate wage for researchers based on their expertise and working condition. The data from twenty public research institutions and twenty eight job positions that are performing similar duty with military doctrine researchers was obtained and utilized to create a salary-estimation regression equation in the analysis. Finally, with cost-benefit analysis method this paper studied financial effectiveness of hiring military doctrine researchers. Contingent valuation method, which has been recognized as one of the most effective methodologies in cost-benefit analysis on intangible value, was utilized to measure benefit of hiring the researchers. The methodology presented in this paper can be applied to measure and improve the efficiency of military organization not only in military doctrine research area but also in several military functional area (military training, logistics, administration, combat development, and combat support).

  • One of the problems we frequently face during the ROK and US Combined operations is the English Military abbreviations because they often causes a lot of confusion. Many military abbreviations we generated, changed, and disappeared, so it is very hard to figure out their meaning sometimes. This system is designed to make it easier to register, alter, and find out English abbreviations through hypermedia techniques, which is utilizing nonsequential and direct search system similar to human sensory organs. So this enables us to keep up with the latest abbreviations. It is also designed to overcome mutual communications barriers by audio-visual aids through the graphic and phonetic functions of the program, and to test users via a random selection of questions.
