A Design of Programmable Dual Slope A/D Converter by Single Chip Microprocessor (싱글칩 마이크로프로세서에 의한 프로그래머블 2중 적분형 A/D 변환기의 개발)

  • Offset voltage and drift characteristics of operational amplifier are critical factor to precision AID conversion System. In this study, a method is suggested to design the programmable A/D conversion system which has high resolution and low drift characteristics. First, hardware was designed to reduce the offset voltage of integrator and comparator, and analog switches are connected to reduce the drift characteristics of operational amplifier. And then, a calibration software technique was performed to obtain the stable data from A/D converter. The main advantage of our method is high precision A/D converter can be constructed with low cost and high confidence. Therefore proposed method is expected to be used in the industrial field where a high precision measurement is required.

  • This paper addresses the design and the gait control of quadruped walking robot. First, we concern the mechanical and electronical(control system) hardware of walking robot, and the second is the results of experiments. The walking robot is the most suitable form to substitute fot human being. So walking robot is worthy of research. The quadruped walking robot and control system is the simplest type of walking robot, therefore we designed a small seale robot for realization of static gait. The robot is designed commpactly and its legs are constructed parallel link type and able to move freely in space. Control system consists of one upper level controller and four lower level controllers. The upper level controller plans the walking path and commands the low level controllers to follow the planned path. The main function of low level cotrollers is control of motors. Total number of motors is twealve and they operate four legs. And robot is ordered to walk and realize static wave gait.

  • This paper describes the design of a remote control device that can control the ON/OFF state of multiple air compressors using wireless communication. The main remote controller and air compressor remote controller were designed using a microprocessor (ATmega128), and the circuit diagram was configured to wirelessly communicate using A Zigbee module between the two remote controllers. The result of the measurement of wireless communication distance between the two remote controllers was more than 1.1 km.

  • This paper deals with the design scheme of the custom control circuit for optimizing the interface of peripheral devices to general-purpose controllers for the high speed digital system. When the various peripheral devices such as memory, I/O devices and buffers which operate at low speed are interfaced to the microprocessor which operates at high speed, inserting the proper wait state to the processor is required. The proposed scheme designed with random logic may be applied to the high performance graphic system like the X-terminal. This circuit provides the flexibility and system independancy for the optimum digital system design.

  • The PLD design of new scheme LCD driver circuit is described in this paper. A new scheme LCD driver circuit doesn't used microprocessor for the convenience of users. A new scheme LCD driver circuit consists of 4 main parts, that is, a serial/parallel communication control block part, a LCD controller part, a LCD driver part and a RAM/ROM control block part. The validity and efficiency of the proposed LCD driver circuit have been verified by simulation and by ALTERA EPM7192SQC160-15 PLD implementation in VHDL. After comparing this LCD driver circuit to specify it was verified that the developed LCD driver circuit showed has good performances, such as low cost, convenience of users.

  • This paper presents the method of giving hysteresis characteristics to the digital input port of microprocessors or micro-controllers and it's design procedures. And this paper shows the example of circuit design and the effect of this method by experiments. Presented method has advantages : By the additional one port and two resistors, input port can have hysteresis characteristics and hysteresis band is larger than TTL, CMOS schmitt trigger gates.

  • We developed the protection program for the generator fault protection system and each module of the digital protective relay H/W for loading the protection program. The protective algorithm for the generator is 51, 51G/N, 46P/N, 47P/N, 50G/N, and 32, and we developed each fault protection program. And we must design high efficiency microprocessor, CT, and PT for realtime measuring, relaying and high accuracy of measurement, also. From now on digital protective relay must be operated with integrated management systems. For this point, we must load various industrial protocol on the digital protective relay. In this research, we developed each protective relay H/W module according to above conditions. And we designed real-time operating system in order that each protective algorithm is operated with realtime processing on the H/W system.

  • Insulation aging diagnosis system provides early warning in regard to electrical equipment defects. Early warning is very important in that it can avoid great losses resulting from unexpected shutdown of the production line. For solving this problem, many researchers proposed a method that diagnose power plant by using partial discharge. In this paper, we design the intelligent sensor to diagnose insulation degradation state that uses a Microprocessor and Al. Proposed sensor has MCU that is used to diagnose insulation degradation and communicate with main IDD system. And we use a fuzzy model to diagnose insulation degradation.

  • In the proposed spectrum analyzer, open-loop VCO is replaced with PLL synthesizer incorporating digital frequency synthesizer using modulofunction for measuring precise frequencys. Three different frequency bands and channel spacings are realized by single loop synthesizer through the effective design of the system. The newly designed system with square detection has a good linearity of input range from 10mV to 8.5V, as a result the input sensitivity has been improved up to 500uV. The storage function enables us to analyze not only periodic but also nonperiodic wave-form and zoom-in function expands frequency resolution eight times for the dense spectra.
