Improving Motor Protection Using Thermal Model (열 모델을 이용한 전동기 보호성능 개선)

  • Thermal relays are sometimes used instead of long time overcurrent relays for motor protection. But, it is difficult for any relay design engineer to adequately approximate motor heating curves which represent the average of a difficult-to-define thermal zone. Thermal relays frequently may not provide sufficient protection on heavy overloads. Digital multifunction relays are microprocessor-based devices. These relays offer highly reliable and advanced protection of motors. If a situation can be mathematically described, the microprocessor in a digital relay can be programmed to tackle that problem. Today's motor protection is accomplished with digital protective relays. Digital relays offer additional, highly important features to complement protection. The best way to prevent short in motor is to not overheat and degrade the insulation.

  • If used to drive the minicar, the BLDC Motor has advantages of weightless, efficient, small-size and credibleness. In this paper at first the position detecting method for BLDC was introduced, secondly the simulation of control algorithm was done and at last the prototype controller based one chip processor MEGA48 was fabricated. The controller proposed has characteristic of cheap cost, reliable performance and totally meeting demands of minicar control.

  • In This paper describes on the development of detecting power using Microprocessor. The detecting power system is composed of main controller system and analyzing software. Re system detected voltage, current, temperature, leakage current md its saved in ROM. This system applies the 'AT89C52' to CPU and 'AM29F040B' used a memory to sue the data.

  • Recently, the outboard engine system of internal combustion engine is widely used in the field of small ship propulsion. However, the internal combustion engine has serious problems of energy depletion and environmental problems, so electric propulsion methods are being studied. In this paper, we have developed important motors and controllers of electric propulsion system for small marine outboard motors. The motor design was performed through the motor characteristics analysis method, and the 30Kw system was developed through the BEMF processing circuit and the power conversion circuit by the embedded microprocessor. This study was carried out through government supported projects and achieved quantitative targets through accredited institutions.

  • The performance improvement in the high speed region for the sensorless based synchronous machine drive is discussed in the paper. Conventional dynamic overmodulation method in the vector controlled AC driver requires some calculation of maximum amplitude of the applying voltage vector to limit its amplitude, which leads to increase the calculation time of microprocessor. For low performance microprocessor, this might be impossible to complete the control loop within limited control time. Thus, to reduce the calculation time, the constantly limited amplitude for applying voltage vector is tried in this paper to drive sensorless based synchronous motor. Certainly, there exists some errors in amplitude and phase angle between inverter voltage and calculating voltage in the sensorless algorithm. But, this errors are too small to prevent the high speed sensorless operation within overmodulation region. The validities of the proposed method is proved by the experimental results.

  • Generally, general-purpose image processing system is so expensive that not so many users easily can access the system. In this paper attemps have been made to design and describe a general and economical image processing system for real-time aplications such as image data compression, pattern recognition and target tracking. The system comprises an operator console, image data acquisition/display sistem and IBM PC/XT. The system also utilizes a high speed Fairchild 16-bit microprocessor with ALU speed of 375 nsec for system control, algrithm execution and user computation. The system also can digitize /display a 256x 256x 8 bit image in real time and store two frames of images. All image pixels are directly accessible by the microprocessor for fast and efficient computation. Some experimental and illustrative results such as target tracking are presented to show the efficient performance of the system.

  • With the development of semiconductor devices, adoption of microcontroller prevails in industrial area. But in are welding industry, there has not been much progress in adoption of microcontroller technology. Therefore, this paper shows the application of digital control technology to welding machine. This paper presents the design of microcontroller that is appropriate for three phase $CO_2$ gas metal are welding machine. By using microcontroller in $CO_2$ gas metal are welding machine, the overall cost can be reduced compared to analog comtroller. Also TMS370C850 microprocessor is used as overall microcontroller for the are welding machine.

  • Bikers can be subjected to injuries from unexpected accidents even if they wear basic helmets. A properly designed airbag can efficiently protect the critical areas of the human body. This study introduces a wearable smart airbag system using machine learning techniques to protect human neck and shoulders. When a bicycle accident happens, a microprocessor analyzes the biker's motion data to recognize if it is a critical accident by comparing with accident classification models. These models are trained by a variety of possible accidents through machine learning techniques, like k-means and SVM methods. When the microprocessor decides it is a critical accident, it issues an actuation signal for the gas inflater to inflate the airbag. A protype of the wearable smart airbag with the machine learning techniques is developed and its performance is tested using a human dummy mounted on a moving cart.

  • We introduce the concept of a remote distributed embedded system to integrated fieldbus based control systems in internet/Intranet. As a result, fieldbus systems are opened up for remote monitoring, remote maintenance, and remote control applications using state of the art Web-technology. This paper addresses the design of a remote distributed embedded system using Internet and CAN for multi-induction motor of Building and Industrial field. The fieldbus used the CAN based networked intelligent multi-motor control system using DSP2812 microprocessor. To build a remote distributed embedded system, the TCP/IP-CAN Gateway which converts a CAN protocol to TCP/IP protocol and vice verse, was designed. A experimental simulation system consists of a TCP/IP-CAN gateway in remote place and a command PC to be connected to Ethernet.

  • This paper suggests methods to drive motor and dsPIC30F2010 microprocessor software design for the Wheel Hub Motor that is incorporated into a hub of the wheel and drives it directly. The minimum function of dsPIC30F2010, system clock, PWM, I/O, communication, applicable to hub motor control are explained and tested. The algorithm including PI control method was implemented to the system by using dsPIC30F2010 microprocessor functions.
