In this paper, we have proposed piezoelectric energy harvester employing the pillar structure with the diameter size of 500 um. So we have selected the Su-8 photo-resist and modified lithography process to manufacture the pillar structure with height above the $500{\mu}m$. Simultaneously, we tried to make a comparative study to use ceramic bulk - polymer structure In this paper, we will report the process and properties of micro pillar structure based on the PMN-PZT ($Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbZrTiO_3$) materials. Finally, We will propose a method for generating electrical energy with a piezoelectric element using vibration, an energy source can be obtained from the "clean" energy.
In order to design nano structured materials with enhanced thermoelectric properties, the alloys in the pseudo-binary $Bi_2Te_3$-PbTe system are investigated for their micro structure properties. For this synthesis, the liquid alloys are cooled by the water quenching method. Micro structure images are obtained by using an electron probe micro analyzer(EPMA). Dendritic and lamellar structures are clearly observed with the variation in the composition ratio between $Bi_2Te_3$ and PbTe. The increase in the $Bi_2Te_3$ composition ratio causes to change of the structure from dendritic to lamellar. The Seebeck coefficient of sample 5, in which the mixture rate of $Bi_2Te_3$ is 83%, is measured as the highest value. In contrast, the others decrease with the increase of the $Bi_2Te_3$ composition ratio. Meanwhile, p-type characteristics are observed in sample 6, at 91%-$Bi_2Te_3$ mixture rate. The power factors of the all samples are calculated with the Seebeck coefficient and resistivity.
Sandwich structures, which are composed of a thick core between two faces, are commonly used in many engineering applications because they combine high stiffness and strength with low weight. Accordingly, the usage of sandwich structure is very widely applied to the aircraft, the automobile and marine industry, etc., because of these advantages. In this paper, we have investigated the buckling protection of an inner structure plate and the useful corrugated configuration for contact, and the fabrication method of the inner structure plate for large area using the continuous molding process. Also, we have guaranteed the accuracy of the molding process through the micro corrugated mold fabrication and secured the accuracy and analyzed aspect properties of the inner structure plate fabricated for a large area using the partial mold process. We have compared molding simulation according to the aspect thickness of the corrugated configuration with the molding experiment results.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for utilization in environment-friendly and economically outstanding CSG construction method by physical and mechanical properties of CSG materials including characteristics of uniaxial compressive strength, microscopic structure and freezing and thawing resistance in accordance with the cement content and curing time of the cement, and size of specimen. In this study, specimens with cement content of 4, 6, 8 and 10% of the total weight were, and, in order to examine the characteristics of the sizes of specimen, specimens with ${\Phi}50{\times}100mm$, ${\Phi}100{\times}200mm$ and ${\Phi}150{\times}300mm$ were manufactured to assess the features including compressive strength, microscopic structure, freezing and thawing, and degree of wet-dry. As results, it was found that with greater size specimen or contents of cement in the specimen, compressive strength, freezing and thawing resistance, and wet-dry resistance increase. Moreover, reactive products for each size of specimen were examined and it was possible to verify that some typical needle structured ettringite was generated due to blending of cement through microscopic structure analysis such as SEM and EDS analysis.
Recently reduction of industrial products in size and weight has been increased by application of micro-drills in gadgets of high precision and a great interest of a micro-drilling has been raised. Due to the lack of tool stiffness and the chip packing, the micro-drilling requires not only the robust tool structure which has not affected by vibration but also effective drilling methods designed to prevent tool fracture from cutting troubles. This paper presents an optimum design shape of a 0.15 mm micro-drill associated with a new manufacturing process to improve the production rate and to lengthen the tool life and suggestions on the micro-drilling characteristic properties associated with the tool life and workpiece quality.

Trabecular bone can be accurately represented using image-based finite element modeling and analysis of these bone models is widely used to predict their mechanical properties. However, the choice of thresholding technique, a necessary step in converting grayscale images to finite element models which can thus significantly influence the structure of the resulting finite element model, is often overlooked. Therefore, we investigated the effects of thresholding techniques on micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) based finite element models of trabecular bone. Three types of thresholding techniques were applied to micro-CT images of trabecular bone which resulted in three unique finite element models for each specimen. Bone volume fractions and apparent moduli were predicted for each model and compared to experimental results. Our findings suggest that predictions of apparent properties agree well with experimental measurements regardless of the choice of thresholding technique in micro CT images of trabecular bone.
The Quenching and Self Tempering (QST) rolling is treated in terms of an advance process on Controlled Rolling and Cooling Technology (CRCT). In the analysis, the effect of this process is governed by both quenching and finishing conditions in the related with temperature. The objective of the QST model is to simulate the temperature gradient of the stock being rolled in the rolling mill. A comparison of computer simulated and manufactured micro structure as well as mechanical properties shows a good consistency. The micro structure of this high-strength round bar consists of tempered martensite and ferrite + pearlite phases.
Photocurable hydrogels are widely used as 3D printing materials in tissue engineering (e.g., scaffold fabrication) as well as optical fibers (or optical sensors) materials. Photocurable hydrogels can control optical and mechanical properties such as chemical or fabrication conditions. In previous research, we introduced a new 3D printing method to fabricate a freestanding overhanging hydrogel structure without supporting structure. This study was measured and analyzed the difference of the mechanical properties of the photocurable hydrogel according to the light intensity using a micro tensile tester. In practically, it was difficult to perform a direct tensile test on a micro (less than 1 mm) size fiber. In this study, the tensile test of the hydrogel fibers could be measured simply and repeatedly using a paper carrier.
Aluminum Oxide($Al_2O_3$) ceramics are excellent candidates for such applications due to their outstanding mechanical, thermal, and tribological properties. However, they are difficult to machine using conventional mechanical methods. Carbon fillers, such as carbon nanotubes(CNT) and graphene nanoplatelets(GNP)can be dispersed in a ceramic matrix to improve the mechanical and electrical properties. In this study, CNT and Graphene reinforced hybrid ceramic composites were fabricated using the spark plasma sintering method at a temperature of $1,500^{\circ}C$, pressure of 40 MPa, and soaking time of 10min. Besides this, the material properties such as microstructure, crystal structure, hardness, and electrical conductivity were analyzed using FE-SEM, XRD, Vickers, and the 4-point probe method. A micro machining test was carried out to compare the effects of the material properties and the machining performance for CNT and Graphene reinforced ceramic composites.
