A novel cell count method, which can improve the count efficiency and reduce contamination problem, was presented using micro lattice engraved on culture dish. The micro lattice has feature of $50{\mu}m{\times}50{\mu}m$ rectangular shape, $2{\mu}m$ line width, and $2{\mu}m$ depth in $3mm{\times}3mm$ area. In this paper, nickel mold was fabricated with thickness of 3mm and diameter of 80 mm, and transcription of the micro lattice on a polystyrene cell culture dish was performed by hot embossing at $200\;^{\circ}C$. The tedious and error-prone harvest/load processes of conventional cell counts with a hemocytometer could be omitted, and these advantages became magnified during periodical counts involving long-term cultures. SupT1 cells and HeLa cells were cultivated with the dish for 7 days in $CO_2$ incubator and counted as $371.84/mm^2$ and $123.36/mm^2$, respectively, during the cultivation without harmful effects on the cells.

We present a miniature Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (micro-DMFC) using platinum sputtered microcolumn electrodes with a limited amount of fuel. We use the microcolumn electrode in order to improve the power density of the micro-DMFC that consists of two electrodes and polymer electrolyte. We also design the built-in fuel chamber in the anode for the portable electronics applications. We design and fabricate both microcolumn and planar electrodes, having an identical projective area of 5mm${\times}$5mm. The diffusion current density of the microcolumn electrode is 1.73 times higher than that of the planar electrode at electrode potential of 1.1V in the half-cell test. The micro-DMFC based on the microcolumn electrodes shows the maximum power of 10.8$\pm$7.54㎼(43.23$\pm$0.16㎼/$\textrm{cm}^2$) at the projective area of 5mm${\times}$5mm, while the planar electrode micro-DMFC shows the maximum power of 0.81$\pm$0.42㎼(3.24$\pm$1.68㎼/$\textrm{cm}^2$) at the same projective area. The micro-DMFC based on the microcolumn electrodes shows 13 times higher power density that the micro-DMFC based on the planar electrodes does.

In this paper, the performance of HCS (hierarchical cell structure), which consists of macro-cell and micro-cell, has been analyzed by assuming that the cells in HAPS (high altitude plat(on station) are tessellated to provide wide coverage, control the co-channel interference and give the higher spectrum efficiency. Since the outside-cell interference factor is well blown to analyze the effects of interference between cells, the effects of interference from the micro-cells into the macro-cells has been estimated using the factor as a performance estimation of HCS in HAPS. HCS served by HAPS can be realized by permitting the suitable power control and the proper number of users in micro-cell because the interference from the micro-cell into the macro-cell is not a function of the distance between cells but a function of the power control and the number of users.
Background: MicroRNAs are noncoding RNA molecules that posttranscriptionally regulate gene expression. The aim of this study was to determine the role of microRNA-21 in cholangiocarcinomas and its relationship to cholangiocarcinoma RBE cell capacity for invasion and metastasis. Methods: MicroRNA-21 expression was investigated in 41 cases of cholangiocarcinoma samples by in situ hybridization and real-time PCR. Influence on cholangiocarcinoma cell line invasion and metastasis was analyzed with microRNA-21 transfected cells. In addition, regulation of reversion-inducing-cysteine-rich protein with kazal motifs (RECK) by microRNA-21 was elucidated to identify mechanisms. Results: In situ hybridization and real-time quantitative PCR results for patients with lymph node metastasis or perineural invasion showed significantly high expression of microRNA-21 (P<0.05). There was a dramatic decrease in cholangiocarcinoma cell line invasion and metastasis ability after microRNA-21 knockdown (P<0.05). However, overexpression significantly increased invasion and metastasis (P<0.05). Real-time PCR and Western-blot analysis showed that microRNA-21 could potentially inhibit RECK expression in RBE cells. Survival analysis showed that patients with higher expression levels of microRNA-21 more often had a poor prognosis (P<0.05). Conclusions: MicroRNA-21 may play an important role in cholangiocarcinoma invasion and metastasis, suggesting that MicroRNA-21 should be further evaluated as a biomarker for predicting cholangiocarcinoma prognosis.
This paper supposes the perfect power control at micro-cell and macro-cell. Under this supposition, we calculate SIR and decide the call admission by SIR. When we calculate SIR, we use the ratio of the power received the base station of micro-cell and the power received the base station of macro-cell. We analysis the performance of the system by the computer simulation while changing the ratio of power.
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of noncoding RNAs that negatively regulate target messenger RNAs. In multicellular eukaryotes, numerous miRNAs perform basic cellular functions, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and death. Abnormal expression of miRNAs weakens or modifies various apoptosis pathways, leading to the development of human cancer. Cell death occurs in an active manner that maintains tissue homeostasis and eliminates potentially harmful cells through regulated cell death processes, including apoptosis, autophagic cell death, and necroptosis. In this review, we discuss the involvement of miRNAs in regulating cell death pathways in cancers and the potential therapeutic functions of miRNAs in cancer treatment.
The platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) signaling pathway is essential for inducing a dedifferentiated state of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Activation of PDGF inhibits smooth muscle cell (SMC)-specific gene expression and increases the rate of proliferation and migration, leading to dedifferentiation of VSMCs. Recently, microRNAs have been shown to play a critical role in the modulation of the VSMC phenotype in response to extracellular signals. However, little is known about microRNAs regulated by PDGF in VSMCs. Herein, we identify microRNA- 15b (miR-15b) as a mediator of VSMC phenotype regulation upon PDGF signaling. We demonstrate that miR-15b is induced by PDGF in pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells and is critical for PDGF-mediated repression of SMC-specific genes. In addition, we show that miR-15b promotes cell proliferation. These results indicate that PDGF signaling regulates SMC-specific gene expression and cell proliferation by modulating the expression of miR-15b to induce a dedifferentiated state in the VSMCs.

The micro grid considered in this paper consists of a diesel generator, a photovoltaic array, a wind turbine, a fuel cell, and a energy storage system. This paper explains and simulates the micro grid components in terms of accuracy and efficiency of having a system model based on the costs of fuel as well as operation and maintenance. For operational efficiency, the objective function in a diesel generator consists of the fuel cost function similar to the cost functions used for the conventional fossil-fuel generating plants. The wind turbine generator is modeled by the characteristics of variable output. The optimization is aimed at minimizing the cost function of the system while constraining it to meet the customer demand and safety of micro grid. The operating cost in fuel-cell system includes the fuel costs and the efficiency for fuel to generate electric power. To develop the overall system model gives a possibility to minimize of the total cost of micro grid. The application of optimal operation can save the interruption costs as well as the operating costs, and improve reliability index in micro grid.
If the Photovoltaic(PV) Module should get physical load, the PV module will be warped according to elongation of the front glass and then micro-crack will be occurred in the heat sealed Solar Cell. This micro-crack drops output of the short circuit current and the open circuit voltage of the PV Module. This is because of increase of resistance component by micro-crack. Micro-crack at specific Solar Cell in the module reduces the durability of PV Module such as less output, Hot-Spot in the PV module caused by Solar Cell output mismatch, heat generating as resistance component caused by micro-crack. In this study, among some factors which effect to the output of crystalline PV Module, we will see how the micro-crack caused by mechanical stress effects to the electrical output of PV Module.
