Micro cell stimulation device is interested in many researchers because it has several advantages such as saving time and reagents. We introduce new micro-bioreactor using micro bead and conduct cell stimulation experiments to verify effective time because cell have operated by cell-cycle (G1, S, G2, and M phase). Micro-bioreactor was made by soft lithography and CAPE (calf pulmonary artery endothelial cell) was cultured in PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) micro device for 12 hour and cell starvation process was performed for 24 hours. Micro glass beads were rolled only by slating device every hour during 15 hour because of minimizing other stimulation force like flow and pressure. The result represents that cells under exposed under micro bead stimulation show higher growth rate than normal condition and earlier and later stimulation time are more effective.
Recently, biological technology industry shows great development. Instruments and systems related biological technology have been developed actively. In this paper, we developed a new micro end-effector for biological cell manipulation. The existing micro end-effector for biological cell manipulation has not any force sensing mechanism. Usually, excessive contact force occurring when the end-effector and a cell collide might make a damage on the cell. However, unfortunately, user can not notice the condition in case of using the existing end-effector. In order to overcome we proposed the improved micro end-effector having a force sensing mechanism. This paper presents the design concepts of the new micro end-effector. We carried out calibration of the force sensor and tested the performance of the proposed micro end-effector. Through a series of experiments the new micro end-effector shows the possibility of application for precision biological cell manipulation such as DNA operation
The influences of various parameters such as inclusions, surface roughness, exposed areas and chloride ion concentrations on the initiation of pitting of Fe-17Cr alloy were investigated, using micro-droplet cell technique. Micro-droplet cell allows one to align the micro-electrode to the desired spot of the working electrode and measure directly local currents with the potentiodynamic polarization. Micro electrochemical tests were carried out at the inclusions after EDX analysis of inclusion. EDX analysis identified inclusions as Cr-oxides. It was found that some active inclusions among Cr-oxide inclusions acted as initiation sites for pitting corrosion. In addition, the rougher surface and the denser chloride ion concentration offered easier pit initiation sites, causing the more susceptible to pitting corrosion.
The demands for mobile communication service are growing rapidly. In heavily populated areas, cell split is unavoidable to increase the capacity of the cellular system. Cell splitting makes a cellular system to have mixed cell sizes. For cell planning, it is necessary to analyze the reverse link capacity of a CDMA cellular system with mixed cell sizes. In this paper, we propose a method to calculate the reverse link capacity of a CDMA cellular system with mixed cell sizes. When a macro cell is split into three micro cells, as an example, we calculate the reverse link capacities for the three micro cells and the neighboring macro cells. The results show that as the radius of a micro cell decreases, the reverse link capacity of the micro cell increases, while those of the neighboring macro cells decrease.
This paper describes a single transistor type ferroelectric field effect transistor (1Tr FeFET) memory cell scheme, which select one unit memory cell and program/read it. The well voltage can be controlled by isolating the common row well lines. Through applying bias voltage to Gate and Well, respectively, we implement If FeFET memory cell scheme in which interference problem is not generated and the selection of each memory cell is possible. The results of HSPICE simulations showed the successful operations of the proposed cell scheme.

Recently, high throughput screening for microorganisms with desired characteristics from a large heterogeneous population has become possible. Single cell separation has taken on increasing significance in recent years, and several different methods have been proposed so far. In this paper, we introduce several cell manipulation methods aiming at single cell separation and investigation. At first, methods for the separation of microorganisms are classified. Then, we introduce two different approaches, that is, (1) indirect manipulation using laser trapped microtools and (2) thermal gelation.
In this paper, a laser scattering mechanism are designed to detect micro defects such as dent, scratch, pinhole, etc. Its influential parameters are experimentally selected and scattering patterns of micro defects have been analyzed for silicon wafer in solar cell. As a result of experiments, scattered lights are rather increased in wafer surface with micro defects, in comparison to no micro ones. Scattering parameters are optimally selected for obtaining robust and high quality laser scattering images of micro defects. It is shown that scattered light components are linearly increased according to the increase of micro defect sizes, and the depth of micro-defects give a large influence on optical deflection.
The behavior of ozone micro bubble cleaning system was investigated to evaluate the solution as a new method of solar cell wafer cleaning in comparison with former conventional RCA cleaning. We have developed the ozone dissolution system in the ozonated water for more efficient cleaning conditions. The optimized cleaning conditions for solar cell wafer process were 10 ppm of ozone concentration and 12 minutes in cleaning periods, respectively. We have confirmed the cleaning reliability and cell efficiencies after ozone micro bubble cleaning. Using this new cleaning technology, it was possible to obtain higher efficiency, higher productivity, and fast tact time for applying cleaning in the fields on bare ingot wafer, LED wafers as well as the solar cell wafer.
The influences of sensitization on localized corrosion resistance of 304 stainless steel, were investigated, using micro-dropletcell techniques. Micro-droplet cell allows one to align the micro-electrode to the desired spot of the working electrode and measure directly local current with the potentiodynamic polarization, linear polarization and a.c. impedance. Micro-electrochemical tests were carried out inside of the grain and on grain boundaries separately. It was found that sensitization decreased the pitting potential, increasing corrosion current density around grain boundaries. Galvanic current density was also measured between grain and grain boundaries.
microRNAs (miRNAs) are key regulators of cell state transition and retention during stem cell proliferation and differentiation by post-transcriptionally downregulating hundreds of conserved target genes via seed-pairing in their 3' untranslated region. In embryonic and adult stem cells, dozens of miRNAs that elaborately control stem cell processes by modulating the transcriptomic context therein have been identified. Some miRNAs accelerate the change of cell state into progenitor cell lineages—such as myoblast, myeloid or lymphoid progenitors, and neuro precursor stem cells—and other miRNAs decelerate the change but induce proliferative activity, resulting in cell state retention. This cell state choice can be controlled by endogenously or exogenously changing miRNA levels or by including or excluding target sites. This control of miRNA-mediated gene regulation could improve our understanding of stem cell biology and facilitate their development as therapeutic tools. [BMB Reports 2016; 49(1): 3-10]
