  • As a basic study on the conversion of molten converter slag to the ordinary portland cement, the effects of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ addition on the interface reaction between solid CaO and molten converter slag has been studied. Alumina added converter slag whose basicity was controlled to 1 and 2 was melted and hold for 30 minutes in MgO crucible at $1500^{\circ}C$. Then sintered CaO pellet heated at the same temperature was dipped into the molten slag and held for 30minutes. After the reaction, the crucible was cooled in air and the specimen was cut off to the horizontal direction of the crucible. The dissolution rate of CaO pellet with the addition of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ was measured by the change of the radius or sintered CaO pellet and the interface layer was observed by SEM/EDX. As a result. At the basicity 2 slag, thickness of created $C_{3}S$ layer increased 3.5 times and quantity of $C_{6}AF_{2}\;or\;C_{4}AF$ phase increase 2 times than baisicy 1 slag.

  • The Zhenzigou Pb-Zn deposit, one of the largest Pb-Zn deposit in the northeast of China, is located at the Qingchengzi mineral field in Jiao Liao Ji belt. The geology of this deposit consists of Archean granulite, Paleoproterozoinc migmatitic granite, Paleo-Mesoproterozoic sodic granite, Paleoproterozoic Liaohe group, Mesozoic diorite and monzoritic granite. The Zhenzigou deposit which is a strata bound SEDEX or SEDEX type deposit occurs as layer ore and vein ore in Langzishan formation and Dashiqiao formation of the Paleoproterozoic Liaohe group. Based on mineral petrography and paragenesis, dolomites from this deposit are classified three type (1. dolomite (D0) as hostrock, 2. dolomite (D1) in layer ore associated with white mica, quartz, K-feldspar, sphalerite, galena, pyrite, arsenopyrite from greenschist facies, 3. dolomite (D2) in vein ore associated with quartz, apatite and pyrite from quartz vein). The structural formulars of dolomites are determined to be Ca1.00-1.03Mg0.94-0.98Fe0.00-0.06As0.00-0.01(CO3)2(D0), Ca0.97-1.16Mg0.32-0.83Fe0.10-0.50Mn0.01-0.12Zn0.00-0.01Pb0.00-0.03As0.00-0.01(CO3)2(D1), Ca1.00-1.01Mg0.85-0.92Fe0.06-0.11 Mn0.01-0.03As0.01(CO3)2(D2), respectively. It means that dolomites from the Zhenzigou deposit have higher content of trace elements compared to the theoretical composition of dolomite. Feo and MnO contents of these dolomites (D0, D1 and D2) contain 0.05-2.06 wt.%, 0.00-0.08 wt.% (D0), 3.53-17.22 wt.%, 0.49-3.71 wt.% (D1) and 2.32-3.91 wt.%, 0.43-0.95 wt.% (D2), respectively. The dolomite (D1) from layer ore has higher content of these trace elements (FeO, MnO, ZnO and PbO) than dolomite (D0) from hostrock and dolomite (D2) from quartz vein. Dolomites correspond to Ferroan dolomite (D0 and D2), and ankerite and Ferroan dolomite (D1), respectively. Therefore, 1) dolomite (D0) from hostrock is a Ferroan dolomite formed by marine evaporative lagoon environment in Paleoproterozoic Jiao Liao Ji basin. 2) Dolomite (D1) from layer ore is a ankerite and Ferroan dolomite formed by hydrothermal metasomatism origined metamorphism (greenschist facies) associated with Paleoproterozoic intrusion. 3) Dolomte (D2) from quartz vein is a Ferroan dolomite formed by hydrothermal fluid origined Mesozoic intrusion.

  • The effect of the MG on the electrochemical charge-discharge properties of $CaNi_5$ hydrogen storage alloys was investigated under Ar and $H_2$ atmosphere. $CaNi_5$ alloy was partially decomposed to CaO and Ni phase during the MG process. The decomposition of $CaNi_5$ alloy was enhanced by the MG process which leads to crash and reformation of oxide layer on the alloy surface. As the MG process time increased, initial discharge capacity of the electrode was reduced, but the decay rate of the capacity compared to $CaNi_5$ alloys was slower. It may be described that the degradation of $MG-CaNi_5$ electrode was caused by the reduction of the reversible hydrogen reaction sites and increasing polarization resistance of hydrogen adsorption resulted from phase decomposition and disorder during the MG process, and/or by hydroxide formation during the electrochemical charge-discharge cycles.

  • In this research, water qualities of river water and bank-filtrate were compared for six months including winter season. The location studied was Galjon area, the downstream of the Nakdong river. The well for bank-filtrate was installed 40 m apart from riverside. Main analytic results of bank-filtrate and river water were summarized as followings; the average concentrations in bank-filtrate were turbidity 0.8NTU, TN 0.4mg/l, $BOD_5$, 0.1mg/l, $KMnO_4$ consumption 1.6mg/l, heterotrophic bacteria 350cfu/ml, Fe 0.5mg/l, Mn 0.99mg/l while the average concentrations in river water were turbidity 6.1NTU, TN 3.9mg/l, $BOD_5$, 3.6mg/l, $KMnO_4$ consumption 11mg/l, heterotrophic bacteria 1,640cfu/ml, Fe 0.28mg/l, Mn 0.04mg/l. Water quality of bank-filtrate was mostly shown a good results than it of river water excepting Fe and Mn. In even basic constituents such as water temperature and pH, bank-filtrate was very settled while river water was extraordinary changable and high. In case of nitrogen, especially, total nitrogen of river water was 3.9mg/l while it of bank-filtrate was 0.4mg/l and its reduction was very high. The reason is that $NH^+_4-N$ among total nitrogen in the river water is nitrified and then denitrified in soil layer when it is pumped up as bank-filtrate. But Fe and Mn caused by the characteristics of soil was very high in bank-filtrate while Mn in river water was particularly very low and settled. As the distance between riverside and well was longer, concentration of Fe and Mn may be went up while its bacteria may be reduced.

  • The secondary electron emission coefficient ${\gamma}$ of MgO single crystals according to the gas mixture ratio of Xe to Ne have been investigated by ${\gamma}-focused$ ion beam system. It is found that the MgO single crystals of (111) crystallinity has the highest ${\gamma}$ from 0.09(0.03) up to 0.16(0.04), while from 0.07(0.02) to 0.15(0.03) for (200) and from 0.06(0.01) to 0.13(0.02) for (220) crystallinity for operating Ne (Xe) ions ranging from 50eV to 200eV throughout this experiment. And it is found that the ${\gamma}$ ranged from 0.03 up to 0.06 for Ne-Xe mixtures are much smaller than those of 0.09 up to 0.16 for pure Ne ions under accelerating voltage ranged from 50V to 200V.

  • This paper describes on the fabrication and characteristics of hot-film type micro-flowsensors integrated with Pt-RTD(resistance thermometer device) and micro-heater on the SOI(Si-on-insulator) membrane and trench structures, in which MGO thin-film was used as medium layer in order to improve adhesion of Pt thin-film to SiO$_2$ layer. Output voltages increased due to increase of heat-loss from sensor to external. The output voltage was 250 nV at N$_2$ flow rate of 2000 sccm/min, heating power of 0.3 W. The response time($\tau$:63%) was about 42 msec when input flow was step-input. The results indicated that micro-flowsensors with the SOI membrane and trench structures have properties of a high-resolution and ow consume power.

  • This study examined the actual reconstruction drawing, composite mineral, particle size and property test, fine organic matters, color differences and main ingredients of the earthen mold excavated in Dongcheon-dong, Gyungju. The cross-section of the inner mold and outer mold divides into inside (1st layer) and outside (2nd layer), with organic matters mixed outside. The cross-section has been altered due to heat and form removal agent. X-ray analysis revealed that the layer was made of minerals with high transmissivity and only quartz particles were observed through a polarizing microscope. The inside of cross-section in SEM observation identified enlarged air gap, with crack developed in the center, but no changes observed on the outside. The particle size of the composites is almost the same for the inner mold and outer mold and is silt clay loam. The ratio between silt clay and silt clay loam was about 2.7:1 and 2.9:1 respectively. In the property test, the density and absorption rate of inner mold and outer mold were similar, but porosity was different, with inner mold of 27.36% and outer mold of 31.09%. The color difference of cross-section seems to have been caused by the spread of soot on the 1st layer surface for removal of form or by the covering of ink to protect the 1st layer. Composite mineral analysis revealed the same composition for the inner mold and outer mold, except for the magnetite that was detected in the inner mold alone. As for the main ingredient analysis, the average content of $SiO_2$ was 71.64% and that of $Al_2O_3$ was 14.59%. As for the sub-ingredients, $Fe_2O_3$ was 4.51%, $K_2O$ 3.06%, $Na_2O$, MgO, CaO, $TiO_2$, $P_2O_5$ and MnO was less than 2%.

  • In this paper, investigations of thick film $La_{0.75}Sr_{0.25}Ga_{0.8}Mg_{0.16}Fe_{0.04}O_{3-{\delta}}$ (LSGMF) cells fabricated via spin coating on either NiO-YSZ anode or $La_{0.7}Sr_{0.3}Ga_{0.6}Fe_{0.4}O_3$ (LSGF) cathode substrates are presented. A La-doped $CeO_2$ (LDC) layer is inserted between NiO-YSZ and LSGMF in order to prevent reactions from occurring during co-firing. For the LSGF cathode-supported cell, no interlayer was required because the components of the cathode are the same as those of LSGMF with the exception of Mg. An LSGMF electrolyte slurry was deposited homogeneously on the porous supports via spin coating. The current-voltage characteristics of the anode and cathode supported LSGMF cells at temperatures between $700^{\circ}C$ and $850^{\circ}C$ are described. The LSGF cathode supported cell demonstrates a theoretical OCV and a power density of ~420 mW $cm^2$ at $800^{\circ}C$, whereas the NiO-YSZ anode supported cell with the LDC interlayer demonstrates a maximum power density of ~350 mW $cm^2$ at $800^{\circ}C$, which decreased more rapidly than the cathode supported cell despite the presence of the LDC interlayer. Potential causes of the degradation at temperatures over $700^{\circ}C$ are also discussed.

  • The PIN type a-SiC:H/a-Si:H heterojunction solar cells were fabricated by using the rf glow discharge decomposition of $SiH_4$ mixed with $CH_4,B_2,H_6\;and\;PH_3.$ The efficiency of the solar cell of the $SnO_2/ITO$ was higher than that of ITO transparent oxide layer by 1.5%. The P layer was prepared with the thickness of $100{\AA}$ and $CH_4/SiH_4$ ration of 5. The I layer has been deposited on the P layer and it is not pure intrinsic but near N type. So $SiH_4$ mixed with $B_2H_6$ of 0.3ppm was used to change this N type nature to intrinsic having the thickness of 5000${\AA}$. And consecutively, the N layer was deposited with t ethickness of $400{\AA}$ using $SiH_4/PH_3$ mixtures. The solar cell demonstrated 0.94V of $V_{oc'}$ 14.6mA/cm of $J_{sc}$ and 58.2% of FF, resulting the efficiency of 8.0%. To minimize loss by the reflection of light, $MgF_2$ layer was coated on the lgass and the efficiency was improved by 0.5%. Therefore, the solar cell indicated overall efficiency of 8.5%.

  • The effect of $Al_2Ca$ on the oxidation resistance and tensile property of Al-5Mg alloys was investigated. According to the TGA (Thermogravimetric analysis) result at $550^{\circ}C$ after 24hrs, the Al-5Mg alloy showed parabolic behavior with weight gain. On the other hand, there was almost no difference in the weight changes of the $Al_2Ca$ added Al-5Mg alloys during the oxidation. It was thought that the improvement of oxidation resistance in $Al_2Ca$ added Al-5Mg alloys might be due to the formation of a protective oxide layer with CaO and MgO on the surface. The microstructures of the alloys showed grain refinement with an increasing $Al_2Ca$ content. From the tensile test, the yield strength of the alloys were improved with an increasing $Al_2Ca$ content. The 0.07 mass%$Al_2Ca$ added Al-5Mg alloy showed similar elongation and increased strength, simultaneously. It was considered that the addition of $Al_2Ca$, which was superior in the oxidation resistance of Al, reduced the formation of Mg oxides and inclusions during the alloying. This, partly led to the improvement of tensile properties.
