Metal matrix composites have a great interest in recent years because high specific strength, high specific stiffness characteristics, and application ranges of the composites are extend to variety industry. In this paper, an investigation was performed on the plane strain fracture toughness and slinding wear properties of AC4CH alloy(Al-Si-Mg line) reinforced with 20wt% aluminum borate whisker expect one, which contained a inorganic binder($TiO_2$). the binder led to the formation of strengthen the whisker each other. The test of fracture toughness was using CT(half size) specimen of thickness 12.5mm, width 25mm. and test of slinding wear of using tribo a pin-on-disk machine and lubricant is used without paraffine 8.2CST at room temperature. As results, Fracture toughness $K_{IC}$ is $8.7MPa-m^{05}$ for ABOw/AC4CH, $9.28MPa-m^{05}$ for ABOw/AC4CH added $TiO_2$. but AC4CH alloy was violated the critical stipulated by ASTM standard for valid measurement of $K_{IC}$. In case of, it was performed $J_{IC}$ test instead of $K_{IC}$ based on ASTM E 1820.

Mg hydride has a high hydrogen capacity (7.6%), at high temperature, and is a lightweight and low cost material, thus it a promising hydrogen storage material. However, its high operation temperature and very slow reaction kinetics are obstacles to practical application. In order to overcome these disadvantages of Mg hydride, graphene powder was added to it. The addition of graphene has been shown to reduce the operating temperature of dehydrogenation. Moreover, in this report the environmental aspects of $MgH_x$-Graphene composites are investigated by means of the environmental life cycle assessment (LCA) method. $MgH_x$-Graphene mixture was prepared by hydrogen induced mechanical alloy (HIMA). The synthesized powder was characterized by XRD(X-ray Diffraction). The hydrogenation behaviors were evaluated by using a Sievert's type automatic PCT apparatus. Such evaluation of Materials also conducted in the LCA. From the result of P-C-T(Pressure-Composition-Temperature) curves, the $MgH_x$-3wt.% graphene composite was evaluated as having a 5.86wt.% maximum hydrogen storage capacity, at 523K. From absorption kinetic testing, the $MgH_x$-7wt.% graphene composite was evaluated as having a maximum 6.94wt.%/ms hydrogen absorption rate, at 573K. Environment evaluation results for the $MgH_x$-graphene composites and other materials indicated environmental impact from the electric power used and from the materials themselves.
Lighting system of road is an essential structure used for the safety of pedestrians and vehicles. Most of the lighting pole is made with steel which is vulnerable under corrosive environment. To overcome such corrosion problems, stainless steel and iron steel are used, but they are usually manufactured by hand which is not efficient. Due to their high strength and stiffness, when there is car collision with the lighting pole structure the safety of driver may not be ensured. Hence, the development of new-type lighting pole system which is easy to adjust the right on the road, lengthen the service life, and reduce the maintenance, is necessary. Lighting pole made with aluminum alloy is high in strength per unit weight, is strong against corrosive environment, and is easy to construct due to flexibility and right weight. But, because the strength and stiffness of the material is lower than that of steel, the structural safety and serviceability of the system can be a problem. To mitigate the structural problem associated with conventional lighting pole system, experimental investigation is conducted on the conventional lighting pole and rib reinforced aluminum alloy lighting pole, respectively. By comparison of results, it was found that the rib reinforced Mg-Si aluminum alloy lighting pole is efficiently applicable to the lighting pole system of road.
Mg-9wt.%Al and Mg-9wt.%-1.6wt%Zn/SiCp(particle size $40{\mu}m$) metal-matrix-composite specimens were manufactured by rheo-compocasting method, known for its effect of improving the wettability. The ceramic reinforcement particles(SiCp) were dispersed in the semi-solid magnesium alloy matrix slurry being vigorously stirred in a high frequency induction furnace under inert atmosphere. A microstructural study of the dispersed particles in the specimens, prepared under different conditions as regards the time(10min, 20min, 30min) and temperature of the stirring, was made with the aid of optical microscope and SEM. The effect of superheating was also observed. It is revealed that 30 minutes' stirring time of the semi-solid at 40% solid fraction temperature(Mg-9wt.%Al : $590^{\circ}C$, AZ91 : $576^{\circ}C$), as determined by the lever rule, gives a satisfactorily uniform distribution of the particles. The superheating is observed to enhance further the uniformity.

Nanostructured high strength metastable Al-, Mg- and Ti-based alloys containing different amorphous, quasicrystalline and nanocrystalline phases are synthesized by non-equilibrium processing techniques. Such alloys can be prepared by quenching from the melt or by powder metallurgy techniques. This paper focuses on one hand on mechanically alloyed and ball milled powders containing different volume fractions of amorphous or nano-(quasi)crystalline phases, consolidated bulk specimens and, on the other hand. on cast specimens containing different constituent phases with different length-scale. As one example. $Mg_{55}Y_{15}Cu_{30}$- based metallic glass matrix composites are produced by mechanical alloying of elemental powder mixtures containing up to 30 vol.% $Y_2O_3$ particles. The comparison with the particle-free metallic glass reveals that the nanosized second phase oxide particles do not significantly affect the glass-forming ability upon mechanical alloying despite some limited particle dissolution. A supercooled liquid region with an extension of about 50 K can be maintained in the presence of the oxides. The distinct viscosity decrease in the supercooled liquid regime allows to consolidate the powders into bulk samples by uniaxial hot pressing. The $Y_2O_3$ additions increase the mechanical strength of the composites compared to the $Mg_{55}Y_{15}Cu_{30}$ metallic glass. The second example deals with Al-Mn-Ce and Al-Cu-Fe composites with quasicrystalline particles as reinforcements, which are prepared by quenching from the melt and by powder metallurgy. $Al_{98-x}Mn_xCe_2$ (x =5,6,7) melt-spun ribbons containing a major quasicrystalline phase coexisting with an Al-matrix on a nanometer scale are pulverized by ball milling. The powders are consolidated by hot extrusion. Grain growth during consolidation causes the formation of a micrometer-scale microstructure. Mechanical alloying of $Al_{63}Cu_{25}Fe_{12}$ leads to single-phase quasicrystalline powders. which are blended with different volume fractions of pure Al-powder and hot extruded forming $Al_{100-x}$$(Al_{0.63}Cu_{0.25}Fe_{0.12})_x$ (x = 40,50,60,80) micrometer-scale composites. Compression test data reveal a high yield strength of ${\sigma}_y{\geq}$700 MPa and a ductility of ${\varepsilon}_{pl}{\geq}$5% for than the Al-Mn-Ce bulk samples. The strength level of the Al-Cu-Fe alloys is ${\sigma}_y{\leq}$550 MPa significantly lower. By the addition of different amounts of aluminum, the mechanical properties can be tuned to a wide range. Finally, a bulk metallic glass-forming Ti-Cu-Ni-Sn alloy with in situ formed composite microstructure prepared by both centrifugal and injection casting presents more than 6% plastic strain under compressive stress at room temperature. The in situ formed composite contains dendritic hcp Ti solid solution precipitates and a few $Ti_3Sn,\;{\beta}$-(Cu, Sn) grains dispersed in a glassy matrix. The composite micro- structure can avoid the development of the highly localized shear bands typical for the room temperature defor-mation of monolithic glasses. Instead, widely developed shear bands with evident protuberance are observed. resulting in significant yielding and homogeneous plastic deformation over the entire sample.

Hydrogen energy applications have recognized clean materials and high energy carrier. Accordingly, Hydrogen energy applies for fuel cell by Mg and Mg-based materials. Mg and Mg-based materials are lightweight and low cost materials with high hydrogen storage capacity. However, commercial applications of the Mg hydride are currently hinder by its high absorption/desorption temperature, and very slow reaction kinetics. Therefore one of the most methods to improve kinetics focused on addition transition metal oxide. Addition to transition metal oxide in $MgH_x$ powder produce $MgH_x$-metal oxide composition by mechanical alloy and it analyze XRD, EDS, TG/DSC, SEM, and PCT. This report considers kinetics by transition metal oxide rate and Hydrogen pressure. In this research, we can see behavior of hydriding/dehydriding profiles by addition catalyst (transition metal oxide). Results of PCI make a excellent showing $MgH_x$-5wt.% Sc2O3 at 623K, $MgH_x$-10wt.% $Sc_2O_3$ at 573K.

The objective of this study is to investigate the ballistic properties of Zr-based amorphous alloy surface composites fabricated by high-energy electron-beam irradiation. The mixture of Zr-based amorphous powders and $LiF+MgF_2$ flux powders was deposited on a pure Ti substrate, and then an electron beam irradiated this powder mixture to fabricate a one-layer surface composite. A four-layer surface composite, in which the composite layer thickness was larger than 3 mm, was also fabricated by irradiating the deposited powder mixture by an electron beam three times on the one-layer surface composite. The microstructural analysis results indicated that a small amount of fine crystalline particles were homogeneously distributed in the amorphous matrix of the surface composite layer. According to the ballistic impact test results, the surface composite layers effectively blocked a fast traveling projectile, while many cracks were formed at the composite layers, and thus the surface composite plates were not perforated. The surface composite layer containing ductile ${\beta}$ dendritic phases showed a better ballistic performance than the one without dendrites because dendritic phases hindered the propagation of shear bands or cracks.
6061Al-SiCP metal matrix composite materials(MMCs) were fabricated by injecting SiCP particles directly into the atomized spray. The main attraction of this technique is the rapid fabrication of semi-finished, composite products in a combined atomization, particulate injection(10 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 40 $\mu\textrm{m}$, SiCP) and deposition operation. Conclusions obtained are as follows; The microstructure of the unreinforced spray formed 6061Al alloy consisted of relatively fine(50 $\mu\textrm{m}$) equiaxed grains. By comparision, the microstructure of the I/M materials was segregated and consisted of relatively coarse(150 $\mu\textrm{m}$) grains. The probability of clustering of SiCP particles in co-sprayed metal matrix composites increased it ceramic particle size(SiCP) was reduced and the volume fraction was held constant. Analysis of overspray powders collected from the spray atomization and deposition experiments indicated that morphology of powders were nearly spherical and degree of powders sphercity was deviated due to composite with SiCp particles. Interfacial bonding between matrix and ceramics was improved by heat treatment and addition of alloying elements(Mg). Maximum hardness values [Hv: 165 kg/mm2 for Al-10 $\mu\textrm{m}$ SiCp Hv--159 kg/mm2 for Al-40 $\mu\textrm{m}$SiCp] were obtained through the solution heat treatment at $530^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs and aging at $178^{\circ}C$, and there by the resistance were improved.

Mg and Mg-based alloys are promising hydrogen storage alloys for renewable clean energy applications. It is a lightweight and low cost material with high hydrogen storage capacity. However, commercial applications of the Mg hydride are currently hindered by its high absorption/desorption temperature, and very slow reaction kinetics. In this work, we aim to study the absorption properties of the $Mg_2Ni$-5mass% Nb composite prepared by mechanical alloying under hydrogen. The absorption capacity of the sample is found to be about 3.0 wt.% at T=573 K and P=1.0 MPa. The absorption characteristics observed have been compared with those of the prepared $Mg_2Ni$.
Al-2%Si-2%Mg alloy containing SiC particle in 20, $70{\mu}m$ were prepared by mean of squeeze casting with various pressure 50, 100, 150 and 220MPa respectively. The specimens were made by casting into $50{\Phi}{\times}100{\ell}$ mold under various squeeze conditions(pressures, pressurizing temperature, particle sizes). Mechanical properties(hardness, tensile strength, elongation and wear characteristics) were evaluated at room temperature with those various fabrication factors. It became feasible to make favorable Al-SiCp composite free from casting defects by the injection of Ar gas during melting and 100MPa pressure squeeze casting. However, pressure of 50MPa was not sufficient to avoid completely porosity formation as a result of precessing and shrinkage during solidification. As the particle size is smaller and the squeeze pressure is higher, the hardness and tensile strength at room temperature are higher. Cell size became smaller gradually with increase of squeeze pressure. With increase of squeeze pressure(MPa), wear behaviors of those composites were changed from adhesive into abrasive wear, and the tendency of above behavior became outstanding with increasing sliding speed. The chemical reaction(4Al+3SiC${\rightarrow}$$Al_4C_3+3Si$) is more accelerated at interface between SiCp and matrix with increase of squeeze pressure. Therefore $Al_4C_3$ intercompound and Si peak intensity is increased at interface.
