갈색날개매미충(Ricania sp.)에 대한 양강근 유래 Methylcinnamate의 살충 및 기피 효과 (Insecticidal Activity and Repellent Effects of Methylcinnamate Separated from Alpinia galangal on Ricania sp.)

  • Ricania sp. is a pest to many crops in Korea. This pest prefers fruit crops especially, blueberry and apple trees. We tested the possibility of Ricania sp. control using of methylcinnamate. In the laboratory bioassay, the mortality of methylcinnamate against Ricania sp. adult with 100 and 250 time diluted solution was 36.6% and 13.3% respectively. While repellent that the use of methylcinnamate resulted rate of 43.3% with 100 time diluted solution and 40.0% in 250 time diluted solution. Insecticidal and repellent effect in semifield bioassay were higher than those in laboratory bioassay. From this result, methylcinnamate might have synergic effect for Ricania sp. management. The result of this study showed a possibility of Ricania. sp. control using methylcinnamate.

  • 농작물 문제 해충인 미국선녀벌레에 대하여 수증기 증류법에 의하여 추출된 양강근 정유성분 및 양강근 주요성분인 Methylcinnamate를 가지고 제형화한 유제를 이용하여 미국선녀 벌레에 대한 살충 활성 및 기피 활성 검정을 통해 방제 가능성을 검토하였다. 양강근의 수증기증류추출정유와 Methylcinnamate 제형화 유제의 살충 및 기피 활성 실험 결과, 살충 활성 자체는 매우 높다고 볼 순 없으나 기피 효과와의 상승효과를 기대할 수 있었다. 특히 Methylcinnamate유제 100배가 살충 및 기피 효과의 결합으로 인한 방제 효율이 높다고 여겨진다. 이러한 연구결과는 차후 양강근 유래 Methylcinnamate는 미국선녀 벌레에 대한 방제에 적용할 수 있는 바이오 소재로서 적용 가능성이 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Angelica속 생약의 정유성분에 관한 연구(IV) -강활의 정유성분- (Studies on Essential Oils of Plants of Angelica Genus in Korea (IV) -Essential Oils of Angelicae koreanae Radix-)

  • Essential oil of the root of Angelica koreana Max. (Umbelliferae) was investigated. Essential oil was obtained from the dried roots by steam distillation and fractionated by column chromatography. Each isolate or fraction was identified by GC, GC-MS and spectral analysis. It was found to contain nine monoterpenes such as ${\alpha}-pinene$(7.0%), camphene, ${\beta}-pinene$, myrcene, ${\alpha}-phellandrene$, ${\Delta}-3-carene$, p-cymene, limonene(2.8%), terpinolene and also found to contain m-cresol(11.6%), citronellol, citral b, methylcinnamate, eudesmol and osthol. 2-Hydroxy-5-methylacetophenone and twelve compounds were tentatively identified.

Enhancement of In Vitro Regeneration of Several Ocimum Species and Varieties

  • Tissue culture systems to optimize regeneration plant species of Ocimum spp were evaluated as a method to micropropagate individual plants and to better study their biology in vitro. Ocimum species were also evaluated for the production of natural plant products during and following the regeneration process. The primary goal of this project was to enhance the regeneration efficiency of basil. Several factors were examined using different Ocimum species and commercial varieties. The effect of cytokinin combination, activated charcoal, gelling agents, and different carbon sources were investigated. Anthocyanin callus spots were produced only in four varieties among six tested. 'Sweet Dani' showed the best results on anthocyanin accumulation, while 'African beauty', 'Tree basil' and 'Methylcinnamate' produced only a few spots. Shoot regeneration was only achieved from 'Sweet Dani' explants. As the activated charcoal concentration increased, callus formation rate decreased respectively compare to the controls for all varieties. There was a decrease in callus growth with increasing concentration of agar and phytagel.
