It depends on the joint configuration, dimensions and constraints of the joint whether the residual stress at the root of single-sided butt weld is tensile or not. Therefore, recommendation is generally made that high R ratio should be used in the fatigue test of welded joint in order to prevent excessively long life caused by compressive residual stress. In this research, the residual stress profile in butt weld joint was obtained through compliance method, using successive extension of a slot and measurement of the variation of strain during the slot extension. The residual stress profile was firstly assumed to be the linear summation of Legendre polynomials up to 9th order excluding 0th and 1st order. Strain variation on the surface was measured while the slot was being extended by cutting to find out the 8 unknown coefficients of each polynomial term. The cut was made by the electric discharge machine. It was concluded that the residual stress near the surface is positive valued, however, it turned into the negative value as soon as it passed through 2 or 3 mm of the depth.

Purpose: This study was conducted to test the effect of a scenario based hand hygiene education program on hand hygiene knowledge, hand hygiene perception, hand hygiene compliance and hand hygiene method in nursing students. Methods: A non-equivalent control group, non-synchronized quasi-experimental design was used. Forty five nursing students participated in the study with 22 in the experimental group and 23 in the control group. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2-test$, t-test, and repeated measures of ANOVA. Results: There were significant increases in hand hygiene knowledge (t=-4.28, p<.001) and accuracy of the hand hygiene method by week (F=7.33, p<.001). However, hand hygiene perception (t=-1.67, p=.102) and hand hygiene compliance rate (F=7.33, p=.405) were not significantly changed. Conclusion: The effects of the scenario based hand hygiene education program provided in this study were excellent, compared to the other hand hygiene education programs. Moreover, as a result of investigating the education effects through direct observation for 4 weeks, appropriate feedback was offered in the third week, and it was found that maintaining the effect was necessary. However, the current status of hand hygiene compliance and accuracy of methods for ensuring hand hygiene need to be studied further.
Purpose: This study was done to determine the effect of nursing interventions on the knowledge of cervical cancer, and health beliefs, self efficacy and rate of rescreening compliance. Method: This was a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects were 93 women who had experienced cervical cancer screening in S city and were randomly assigned to the experimental or control group. Intervention tools were a screening record pocket book, phone-coach. and watching a video(17mins). The data was collected from April to December, 2003 and analyzed using an $X^2-test$. t-test and ANCOVA. Results: The 1st hypothesis, "The Posttest know ledge score of the experimental group will be significantly higher than that of the control group" was supported(F=11.16, p= .001). The 2nd hypothesis, "The Posttest health belief score of the experimental group will be significantly higher than that of the control group" was not supported(F=3.38, p= .069). The 3rd hypothesis, "The Posttest self efficacy score of the experimental group will be significantly higher than that of the control group" was supported(F=4.36, p= .040). The 4th hypothesis, "The Rescreening compliance rate of the experimental group after the nursing intervention will be significantly higher than that of the control group" was supported($X^2=3.45$, p= .050). Conclusion: This nursing intervention was effective in increasing the knowledge of cervical cancer, and self efficacy percentage of rescreening compliance. Therefore I think this intervention can be used for promoting the rescreening compliance of women.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine factors influencing for the compliance of guidelines of preventing bloodborne infection for operating room nurses. Method: Data was collected through questionnaires from March 16 to April 12, 2005. The subjects of this study were consisted of 208 operating room nurses, who had been working at 4 university hospitals and 10 general hospitals in Busan. The Instrument for the compliance of guidelines for preventing bloodborne infection was 24-item questionnaire. It was revised based on the Standard Precaution of CDC and Bloodborne Pathogen Standards of OSHA. In addition, to find out the knowledge level of AIDS, hepatitis B and hepatitis C, 15-item questionnaire was used, which had been made by researcher based on Kim(1999) et, al. Results: The affecting factors of compliance for preventing bloodborne infection were work skill(${\beta}=.27$), operating room education on infection prevention(${\beta}=.25$), knowledge on infection(${\beta}=.19$), readiness of using personal protective equipment(${\beta}=.18$), and posting a notice of infected surgery patients(${\beta}=.16$). Theses 5 factors account for 28.5% on the compliance of guidelines for preventing bloodborne infection for operating room nurses. Conclusion: According to the results, to increase the compliance level of operating room nurses, personal efforts should be made to improve work skills and infection knowledge. In addition to organizational efforts on practical education and management of environment were required.
Objectives: The nutritional status of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy is closely related to the compliance of nutrition education. However, as chemotherapy is conducted repeatedly, compliance with nutrition management is lowered, leading to malnutrition. Malnutrition is related directly to the quality of life after surgery in cancer patients. Therefore, this study examined the factors related to compliance with nutrition management during chemotherapy. Methods: In this study, five subjects with colorectal cancer undergoing adjuvant chemotherapy were interviewed in-depth using the Giorgi study method. The contents of the nutrition education visits and in-depth interviews were transcribed in the language of the subject after recording, and the appropriateness of the data was improved by reflecting the subject's actions and facial expressions. Results: After conducting the in-depth interviews for each subject, the experience of the subject's diet and adjuvant chemotherapy was drawn into two domains, six elements, and 26 sub-elements. In the cognitive domain, the patients experienced physical and psychological changes, and the need for nutrition management was recognized by analyzing the dietary causes of the diseases. In the domain of practice, a knowing-doing gap was formed, unlike the patient's will. Factors that inhibited compliance with nutritional management included digestive problems, sensory changes, loss of appetite, and social interaction stress. Conclusions: Dietary management is very important for patients receiving periodic anticancer therapy, and step-by-step training and personal monitoring based on the chemotherapy order is necessary to maintain the patient's will and social and environmental support.

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate how a program using video-audio media will affect the knowledge level and compliance of the sick role of patients admitted for coronary angiography. Method: A non-equivalent control group non-synchronized design was used. Subjects were selected from patients admitted to the internal ward of a hospital in B city for coronary angiography between July 1 and September 31, 2010. Twenty subjects were assigned to the control and experimental group, respectively. Video-audio media developed by the authors was used as the experimental tool. The effects of the program were analyzed using a knowledge assessment tool and questionnaire for compliance of the sick role. The SPSS/WIN 14.0 program was used for data analysis. Result: The first hypothesis that the "experimental group receiving the program using video-audio media will report a higher level of knowledge compared to the control group" was supported. The second hypothesis that the "experimental group that received the program using video-audio media will report a higher level of compliance of sick role" was supported. Conclusion: The program using video-audio media was effective in enhancing patients' knowledge about the disease and compliance of the sick role. Thus, it can be an effective nursing intervention for patients with coronary artery disease.
Purpose: This study was to evaluate the effects of a physical activity reinforcement program on exercise compliance, depression, and anxiety in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis(CAPD) patients. Method: A nonequivalent control group with a pre-post test was designed. Data collection was done from December, 2002 to June, 2003 at a hoapital. The degree of depression and anxiety of the patients was assessed by the score of SCL-90-R, and exercise compliance was measured by exercise period, frequency, time and intensity. The experimental group was composed of 19 participants who were educated based on an exercise education protocol and carried out walking exercises two to four times a week after hearing verbal persuasion biweekly through the telephone or a face-to-face interview for 12 weeks, while 17 participants in control group received no intervention. Result: 1. The experimental group showed significant improvement in self-efficacy of exercise compliance (U=79.00, p=.01), exercise period ($x^2$=20.84, p=.00), exercise frequency ($x^2$=9.03, p=.0l), exercise time ($x^2$=9.03, p=.0l) and exercise intensity ($x^2$=11.09, p=.00) compared to those of the control group. 2. The experimental group showed a lower depression score (U=84.50, p=.01) than the results of the control group. 3. However, there were no changes in anxiety level compared to the control group. Conclusion: The physical activity reinforcement program was found to have an effect on exercise compliance and the depression score of CAPD patients. The results provided evidence for the importance of physical activity and verbal persuasion in CAPD patients.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relations between diabetic dietary compliance and dietary intake, physical activity and prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods: Seventy five subjects diagnosed with type 2 diabetes visiting the D hospital in Dongducheon from May 2014 to Dec 2014 were included in this study. The subjects were divided into two groups according to their diabetic dietary compliance score (median 39); low diabetic dietary compliance (LDDC) group (n=44) and high diabetic dietary compliance (HDDC) group (n=31). Survey data collection was carried out by direct interview method. The nutrient intake, food intake and KDDS (Korean's dietary diversity score), DVS (dietary variety score) and GMVDF (grain, meat, vegetable, dairy and fruit) were analyzed using data from the 24-recall method. Metabolic parameters were obtained from the hospital records. Data was analyzed using Chi-square test and general linear model adjusted for sex. Results: The prevalence of MS was 59.7% in the participating diabetic patients. The prevalence of MS of the HDDC (39.3%) was significantly lower than that of the LDDC (72.7%). The distribution of physical activity showed a significant difference between the groups (p=0.006). The intakes of seeds and nuts of the HDDC were significantly lower than those of the LDDC. Fat and vegetable fat intakes and % fat of energy in the HDDC were significantly lower than those in the LDDC. But, carbohydrate (CHO) and potassium intake and %CHO of energy in the HDDC were significantly higher than those in the LDDC. KDDS and GMVDF showed significant differences between groups (p=0.033; p=0.012). Conclusions: Continuous intervention by specialized nutritionists for long-term self-regulation is needed for diabetic patients, and the high compliance to diabetic diet and increasing physical activity may be effective in the prevention of metabolic syndrome.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the retention effects of an individualized dietary education program for hemodialysis patients on diet knowledge, diet self-care compliance, and physiological indices, thus to find the most effective time period for re-education. Method: This study utilized one-group repeated pretest-posttest design. The participants were 52 hemodialysis patients in C hospital, Gyeonggi-Do. Data were collected at 4 and 12 weeks after the education from January through April 2016. Results: There was significant increases in diet knowledge even 12 weeks after the education (p= .007). Diet self-care compliance showed a significant increase at 4 weeks (p= .001), but a decrease at 12 weeks after the education. The level of blood natrium was significantly decreased between 4 and 12 weeks after the education (p= .006). The weight was significantly decreased at 12 weeks after the education. Conclusion: It has been identified that re-education for hemodialysis patients should be implemented between 4 and 12 weeks after education in order to maintain patients' diet self-care compliance, an ultimate aim of diet education. By helping them with their self-care compliance, the patients would maintain their physical and psychological function optimally, thus contributing to a better quality of life among hemodialysis patients.
A compliance control method of redundant manipulators is presented. This method is based on the new stiffness model, which allows us to modulate accurate joint stiffness of realizing the end effector stiffness to be varied with task requirements. Control model is developed and by implementing the proposed method in a three-dof(degree of freedom) planar redundant manipulator, its effectiveness is validated.
