This study demonstrates the coating effect of carbon nanotubes on metal meshes, which have been made with various line-spaces and line-width, for touch screen panels. The CNTs have been deposited on metal meshes via electrophoretic deposition (EPD). The sheet resistances, visible transmittances, visible reflectances have been measured before and after electrophoretic deposition. The experimental results confirm that CNT coating metal meshes with various line-spaces and line width can satisfy the requirements that are required for transparent electrodes of touch screen panels.
This research was done for possible treatment of impermeable surfaces rainwater runoff containing heavy metal ions by manganese oxide coated on polypropylene support. Manganese oxide was coated by Birnessite Coating Methods(BCM)and the coating analyzed by SEM and FT-IR techniques. The efficiency of heavy metal ions adsorption was also assessed via both batch and column tests. Adsorption efficiencies of Cd, Zn, Cu, and Pb were 99.4%, 98.9%, 96.7%, and over 95.7%, respectively. The adsorption progress pattern reveals quite fast adsorption at initial periods of treatment and change to slower rates at later times.

Disproportionation reaction is very important and interesting reaction to be applied to such surface treatment as metal, alloy, compound coating, a surface etching and so on. In gaseous system, the reaction of Al chloride is applied to Al and Al alloy coating, and the similar reaction of Ti chloride is also used for Ti, Ti alloy and Ti compound coating. As for aqueous system, this reaction is utilized to such metal coat as Sn etc. and metal etching such as Cu, Fe and so on. Also in molten salts system, this reaction has many application for surface treatment like metal, alloy and compound coatings for corrosion, wear, heat resistance and so forth. For instance, carbide film, nitride film, boride film, alloy film, quite new different film from the components of substrate material are coated in single and multiple component film system by the disproportionation reaction.
Hydroxylammonium nitrate (HAN)-based liquid propellants are attracting attention as environmentally friendly propellants because they are not carcinogens and the combustion gases have little toxicity. The catalyst used to decompose the HAN-based liquid propellant in a thruster must have both low temperature activity and high heat resistance. The objective of this study is to prepare an Ru/alumina/metal foam catalyst by supporting alumina slurry on the surface of NiCrAl metal foam using a washing coating method and then to support a ruthenium precursor thereon. The decomposition activity of a HAN aqueous solution of the Ru/alumina/metal foam catalyst was evaluated. The effect of the number of repetitive coatings of alumina slurry on the physical properties of the alumina/metal foam was analyzed. As the number of alumina wash coatings increased, mesopores with a diameter of about 7 nm were well-developed, thereby increasing the surface area and pore volume. It was optimal to repeat the wash coating alumina on the metal foam 12 times to maximize the surface area and pore volume of the alumina/metal foam. Mesopores were also well developed on the surface of the Ru/alumina/metal foam catalyst. It was found that the metal form itself without the active metal and alumina can promote the decomposition reaction of the HAN aqueous solution. In the case of the Ru/alumina/metal foam-550 catalyst, the decomposition onset temperature was significantly lowered compared with that of the thermal decomposition reaction, and ${\Delta}P$ could be greatly increased in the decomposition of the HAN aqueous solution. However, when the catalyst was calcined at $1,200^{\circ}C$, the catalytic activity was lowered inevitably because the surface area and pore volume of the catalyst were drastically reduced and Ru was sintered. Further research is needed to improve the heat resistance of Ru/alumina/metal foam catalysts.

Metal coating on ceramic powder has long been attracting interest for various applications such as superconductor where the brittle nature of high temperature ceramic superconductor was complemented by silver coating and metalloceramics where mechanical property improvement was achieved via electroless plating. More recently it has become of great interest in embedded passive device applications since metal coating on ceramic particles may result in the enhancement of the dielectric properties of ceramic-polymer composite capacitors. In our study, nickel ion-containing solution was used for coating commercial capacitor-grade $BaTiO_3$ powder. After filtering process, the powder was dried and heat-treated in 5% forming gas at $900^{\circ}C$. XRD and TEM were utilized for the observation of crystallization behavior and morphology of the particles. It was found that the nickel coating characteristics were strongly dependent on the several parameters and processing variables, such as starting $BaTiO_3$ particle size, nickel source, solution chemistry, coating temperature and time. In this paper, the effects of these variables on the coating characteristics will be presented in some detail.
The purpose of this study investigated the effect of Au coating on adhesion between porcelain matrix and metal substructure interface. Titanium, Ni-Cr alloy and Co-Cr alloy are well known as proper metal for the dental restorations. The success of a porcelain fused to metal (PFM) restoration depends upon the quality of the porcelain-metal bond. However, adhesion between dental alloys and porcelain is related to diffusion of oxygen during ceramic firing. The excessive oxidized layers make hard adhesion between dental alloy and ceramic. Ni-Cr and Co-Cr specimens were divided into test and a control group and Titanium specimens were divided into three test groups and a control group. Each group had 20 specimens. The adhesion characteristics of porcelain and metal with Au coating layer and without Au coating layer were observed with scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The adhesion was evaluated by a biaxial flexure test and volume fraction of adherent porcelain was determined by SEM/EDS analysis. Result of this study suggest that Au coating layer is effective barrier to diffuse oxide layer completely protect non-precious alloys from oxidation during the porcelain firing. The SEM photomicrographs of cross-section specimens showed a smooth interface between Au coating layer and metals and porcelain which suggested proper chemical bonding, and no gap, porosity were observed. The mode of failure was mainly adhesive for Ti tested specimens, but mixed failures with adhesive and cohesive were observed in Ni-Cr and Co-Cr specimens. The adhesion between non-precious metals and porcelain would not be improved by Au coating agent. However, It is suggested that the continuous study is required further investigation and development.

This study demonstrates hybrid-type transparent electrodes for touch screen panels. The hybrid-type electrodes were fabricated by coating carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on metal meshes. To form the metal-meshes, thin films of silver (Ag) were deposited on glass substrates using the sputtering method and then patterned via photolithography to obtain mesh structures whose line width was $10{\mu}m$ and line-to-line spacing was $300{\mu}m$. CNTs were coated on Ag-meshes by using two different methods, such as spray coating and electrophoretic deposition (EPD). For the samples of a Ag-meshes and CNTs-coated Ag-meshes, their surface morphologies, electrical sheet resistances, and visible-range transmittances and reflectances were characterized and compared. The experimental results indicated that the reflectance of Ag-mesh electrodes was substantially reduced by coating of CNTs. Especially, the hybrid electrodes of Ag-meshes with EPD-coated CNTs showed excellent properties such as sheet resistance lower than $20{\Omega}/{\Box}$, transmittance higher than 90 %, and reflectance lower than 8%.

Infrared stealth technology used in aircraft is applied to reduce the infrared signal by controlling surface temperature and emissivity using internal heat sink, low emissivity material or metamaterial. However, there is one part of the aircraft where the use of this technology is limited, and that is the radome. Especially, radome should have transmittance for the specific radio frequency, therefore, common stealth technology such as emissivity control surfaces cannot be applied to radome surface. In this study, we developed metal nano-coating for infrared stealth which is applicable to radome surface. We designed slot-type pattern for frequency selective transmission in X-band, and also controlled thickness of metal nano-coating for long wavelength infrared emissivity control. As a result, our infrared stealth surface for radome has 93.2 % transmittance in X-band and various infrared emissivities from 0.17 to 0.57 according to nano-coatings thickness. Also, we analyzed infrared signature of radome through numerical simulation, and finally reduced contrast radiant intensity by 97.57 % compared to polyurethane surface.
The purpose of this study was to elucidate effects of a thin (tens to hundreds of nanometers) Ni-flash coating layer on hydrogen embrittlement (HE) and liquid metal embrittlement (LME) in ultra-high-strength electrogalvanized steel with a tensile strength of more than 1 GPa. Various experimental and analytical methods, including thermal desorption spectroscopy, slow strain rate testing, resistance spot welding, X-ray diffraction, and metallographic observation, were employed. Results showed that an increase in Ni target amount for flash coating resulted in a decrease in diffusible hydrogen content during electrogalvanizing, resulting in a significant decrease in HE sensitivity. Moreover, a Ni target amount of more than 1000 mg/m2 drastically reduced the occurring frequency and average depth of LME. This reduction could be primarily attributed to formation of Zn-Ni intermetallic phases during the welding process that could inhibit liquefaction of intermetallic phases in the heat-affected zone. This study provides a desirable Ni target amount for Ni-flash coating on ultra-high-strength steels conducted in a continuous galvanizing line or a high-speed batch line to achieve high resistance to both HE and LME.
In this study, the effect of coating thickness($20{\mu}m$ and $30{\mu}m$) on microstructure and tensile properties in Yb:YAG disk laser welds of Al-Si-coated boron steel (1.2mmt) was investigated. In the case of as welds, the quantity of ferrite was found to be higher in base metal than that in HAZ (Heat Affected Zone) and fusion zone, indicating, fracture occurrs in base metal, and the fracture position is unrelated to the coating thickness. Furthermore, yield strength, tensile strength of base metal and welded specimens showed similar behavior whereas elongation was decreased. On the other hand, base metal and HAZ showed existence of martensite after heat treatment, the fusion zone indicated the presence of full ferrite or austenite and ferrite during heat treatment ($900^{\circ}C$, 5min), After water cooling, austenite was transformed to martensite, and the quantity of ferrite in fusion zone was higher as compared with in base metal, resulting in sharply decrease of yield strength, tensile strength and elongation, which leads to fracture occured at fusion zone. In particular, results showed that because the concentration of Al was higher in 30um coating layer specimen than that of 20um coating specimen, after heat treatment, producing a higher quantity of ferrite was higher after heat treatment in the fusion zone; howevers, it leads to a lower tensile property.
