For the past several decades, various next-generation patterning methods have been developed to obtain well-designed nano-to-micro structures, such as imprint lithography, nanotransfer printing (nTP), directed self-assembly (DSA), E-beam lithography, and so on. Especially, nTP process has much attention due to its low processing cost, short processing time, and good compatibility with other patterning techniques in achieving the formation of high-resolution functional patterns. To transfer functional patterns onto desirable substrates, the use of soft materials is required for precise replication of master mold. Here, we introduce a simple and practical nTP method to create highly ordered structures using various polymeric replica materials. We found that polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polystyrene (PS), and polyvinylpyridine (PVP) are possible candidates for replica materials for reliable duplication of Si master mold based on systematic analysis of pattern visualization. Furthermore, we successfully obtained well-defined metal and oxide nanostructures with functionality on target substrates by using replica patterns, through deposition and transfer process. We expect that the several candidates of replica materials can be exploited for effective nanofabrication of complex electronic devices.
Soldering is the usual method used to correct an unstable fixed partial denture framework at patient's try-in; However, presoldering base metal alloys is technique-sensitve and results are unstable because it is difficult to maintain uniform heat distribution and to prevent oxidation of an alloy. A cast-joining technique has been developed by Weiss and Munyon for repair, correction and addition to base metal framework. This joining technique eliminates the problem with presoldering of non-precious frameworks. The object of this study was to 1) compare the relative flexure strength and the joining effectiveness of Ni-Cr-Be cast in two pieces and 'pre-soldered' versus in two pieces and 'cast-joined'. 2) determine the effect of increasing the number of retentive grooves on the face of the cast and 3) determine the effect of the relative matched position of groove patterns on flexure strength. The joining effectiveness can be expressed by the ratio of the mean flexure stress of soldered or cast-joined specimens to that of one-piece cast. Resin rods 3mm in diameter were used as pattern of specimens for one-piece casted, presoldered, and cast-joined groups. Cast-joined specimens had two different patterns of retentive grooves on the joined faces. Type A had cross-shaped grooves 1mm in depth. 0.6mm in width. Type B was the same except for the addition of one more retentive groove. In the experiment connecting cast-joined specimens, half of specimens with type A pattern had their patterns on the faces of paired casts matched with each other as mirror image. With the rest pairs, it was proceeded that one of paired casts turned 45 degrees so that the patterns crossed. Half of specimens with type B pattern also had the patterns matched as mirror image; However, here, one of paired casts turned 90 degrees with the other pairs. Retentive groove in this study lacked the intentional undercuts, in contrast with the suggestion of Weiss and Munyon. The specimens were subjected to four-point flexural loading in an Instron testing machine. The midspan flexural stress was calculated at the point of initial plastic strain as determined from a strip-chart recorder or at the point of failure if this occured at a lower stress level. Within the scope of this study, the following results were obtained. 1. The presoldered group showed flexural strength at least 2 times higher than the cast-joined groups. Its joining effectiveness was 82%. 2. In cast-joined groups, the flexural strength of joints with type B patterns exhibited 1.5 times that of joints with type A patterns. Joining effectivenesses were 38% for type B patterns, 25-26% for type A patterns. 3. The relative matched position of groove patterns did not have any significant effect on flexural strength of the cast-joined specimens with either type A patterns or type B patterns(p>.05).
In today's modern society, since the Industrial Revolution took place, still lots of goods have been produced in quantity. However, human's instinct has been growing bigger and bigger that he or she wants to possess the works or products of scarcity and aesthetic value of a sculpture handmade by craftsmen, not mass-produced with the same design patterns. Accordingly, it is required that an artist be concerned about the value of figuring out and pursuing an individual's lifestyle, his/her needs and inherent desires. Moreover, by means of visualization technique, an artist should provide the public with several scenarios about the future, letting them choose the one they want democratically. Therefore, with the help of Mokumegane technique, one of the traditional metal crafts techniques, which shows certain organic patterns joining different metals, this research aims for the inheritance of traditional techniques and the objective preparation for high-quality crafts market, studying the patterns expressed on the surface of metals, which are hard to find through machines.

Since one decade, the detection of HFPD (High frequency Partial Discharge) has been proposed as one of the effective method for the diagnosis of the power component under service in power grids. As a tool for HFPD detection, Metal Foil sensor based on the embedded technology has been commercialized for mainly power cable due to its advantages. Recently, for the on-site noise discrimination, several PA (Pulse analysis) methods have been reported and the related software, such as Neural Network and Fuzzy, have been proposed to separate the PD (Partial Discharge) signals from the noises since their wave shapes are completely different from each other. On the other hand, the relevant fundamental investigation has not yet clearly made while it is reported that the effectiveness of the current methods based on PA is dependant on the types of sensors. Moreover, regarding the identification of the vital defects introducible into the Power Cable, the direct identification of the nature of defects from the PD signals through Metal Foil coupler has not yet been realized. As a trial for solving above shortcomings, different types of software have been proposed and employed without any convincing probability of identification. In this regards, our novel algorithm 'PA Map' based on the pulse analysis is suggested to identify directly the defects inside the power cable from the HFPD signals which is output of the HFCT and metal foil sensors. This method enables to discriminate the noise and then to make the data analysis related to the PD signals. For the purpose, the HFPD detection and PA (Pulse Analysis) system have been developed and then the effect of noise discrimination has been investigated by use of the artificial defects using real scale mockup. Throughout these works, our system is proved to be capable of separating the small void discharges among the very large noises such as big air corona and ground floating discharges at the on-site as well as of identifying the concerned defects.
The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare the heat transfer efficiency of using copper pipe, stainless pipe and traditional PE pipe commonly used for geothermal heat exchanger, with aims at seeking improved methods. In addition, the varying efficiency of heat transfer from ground heat and groundwater heat was assessed and its applicability was discussed. Design parameters for empirical field study were derived by controlling flow rate, velocity and caliber of pipes of the heat exchanger after the thermal efficiency of the heat exchanger material was evaluated. The heat exchange efficiency and effective thermal conductivity were measured with changing pattern through field thermal efficiency and thermal response test. Experimental results show that the metal material showed higher heat transfer efficiency than the PE pipe. Although the heat transfer efficiency was not high with the increase of the pipe diameter in the flow rate, it was high with the increase of the pipe diameter in the velocity.

In this paper, we proposed a novel true time-delay (TTD) feeder for phased array antennas (PAAs) using fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) and fibers coated with Cr/Au film. This structure requires less number of FBGs than the previously proposed FBG TTD feeders since one FBG is replaced with a metal film reflector in a strand of optical delay line connected to each antenna element and also provides the flexible wavelength selection since the metal film shows wide reflectance spectrum. A TTD for 10 GHz linear PAAs capable of steering beams in three different directions at 0$^{\circ}$and $\pm$30$^{\circ}$has been built. Experimental results on time delays are in good agreement with those calculated at all the steering angles. A 10 GHz linear array antenna with eight antenna elements red from the proposed TTD has been designed and the far-field radiation pattern or this antenna has been obtained by simulation.

Objectives: This study evaluated a range of fixation methods to determine which is best for the postoperative stabilization of a mandibular osteotomy using three-dimensional finite element analysis of the stress distribution on the plate, screw and surrounding bone and displacement of the lower incisors. Materials and Methods: The model was generated using the synthetic skull scan data, and the surface model was changed to a solid model using software. Bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy was performed using the program, and 8 different types of fixation methods were evaluated. A vertical load of 10 N was applied to the occlusal surface of the first molar. Results: In the case of bicortical screws, von-Mises stress on the screws and screw hole and deflection of the lower central incisor were minimal in type 2 (inverted L pattern with 3 bicortical repositioning screws). In the case of plates, von-Mises stress was minimal in type 8 (fixation 5 mm above the inferior border of the mandible with 1 metal plate and 4 monocortical screws), and deflection of the lower central incisor was minimal in types 6 (fixation 5 mm below the superior border of the mandible with 1 metal plate and 4 monocortical screws) and 7 (fixation 12 mm below the superior border of the mandible with 1 metal plate and 4 monocortical screws). Conclusion: Types 2 and 6 fixation methods provide better stability than the others.
In this study, finite element analysis of Carbon-Steel Laminates with different layup pattern was conducted to verify similarity to the results of previous studies and to develop the effective model for low-velocity impact analysis. As in the experiment, Finite element analysis of the Fiber metal laminates (FMLs) with five different lamination patterns was carried out, and the impact resistance of the FMLs was confirmed by comparing the energy absorption ratio. The FMLs showed the higher energy absorption ratio than the mild steel having the same thickness, and it was confirmed that all the FMLs had the high energy absorption ratio over than 96%. In addition, the low-velocity impact analysis model proposed in this study can be effectively used to study composite forms and automotive structures.

The deformation and fracture behaviors of a bulk amorphous metal, Zr-based one (Zr$\_$41.2/Ti$\_$13.8/Cu$\_$12.5/Ni$\_$10/Be$\_$22.5/: Vitreloy), were investigated over a strain rate range (7x10$\^$-4/~4 s$\^$-1/). The uniaxial compression test and the indentation test using 3mm-diameter WC balls were carried out under quasi-static loading conditions. As a result, at the uniaxial compressive state, the fracture stress of the material was very high (~1,700MPa) and the elastic strain limit was about 2%. The fracture strength showed a strain rate independent behavior up to 4 s$\^$-1/. Using indentation tests, the plastic deformation behavior of the Zr-based BAM up to a large strain value of 15% could be achieved, even though it was the deformation under locally constrained condition. The Meyer hardness of the Zr-based BAM measured by static indentation tests was about 5 GPa and it revealed negligible strain hardening behavior. At indented sites, the plastic indentation occurred forming a crater and well-developed multiple shear bands were generated around it along the direction of 45 degree when the indentation load exceeded 7kN. With increasing indentation load, shear bands became dense. The fracture surface of the specimen after uniaxial compressive tests showed vein-like pattern, typical morphology of many BAMs.
The discrimination of the agricultural origin, especially locally produced of imported products such as black rices was investigated by using electronic nose. Volatile components from these products were discriminated by six metal oxide sensors without pretreatment. Pattern recognition was carried out. Principal component analysis showed the differences between imported and locally produced ones. The number of 57 from 69 species of black rices were recognized as locally produced one (83.33%) and 11 from 13 species one (imported black rices) was correctly discriminated. Unknown habitat of black rice could be identified by artificial neural network system whether the imported or not. Also commercial electronic nose (E-nose 5000) that was combined with metal oxide sensor and conducting polymer sensor showed 92.75% (locally produced black rices) and 92.31% (imported one) of discrimination.
