  • The driving methods of car are front wheel drive, rear wheel drive and four wheel drive. At driving methods, constant velocity joint is the most important part at carrying out two functions for converting to the direction which the driver wants and transferring the power to wheels. At driving on the road, the impact can be applied to the parts transmitting power according to the state of road surface. In this study, each models of three constant velocity joints whose shaft length are different respectively were modelled with CATIA and the structural and fatigue analyses were carried out by using ANSYS. This study result is thought to be the useful material at designing the constant velocity joint with the durability against impact. And it is possible to be grafted onto the convergence technique at the design of constant velocity joint and show the esthetic sense.

  • In this research we present a method to reconstruct the casting flow simulation result as a 3D model and visualize it on a VR display. First, numerical analysis of heat flow is performed using an existing commercial CAE simulation software. In this process the shape of the original design model is approximated to a regular rectangular grid. The filling ratio and temperature of each voxel are recorded iteratively by predefined number of steps starting from pouring the melted metal into a mold until it is entirely filled. Next we reconstruct the casting by voxels using the simulation result as an input. The color of voxel is determined by mapping the colors to temperature and filling ratio at each step as the flow proceeds. The reconstructed model is visualized on the Projection Table which is one of horizontal-type VR display. It provides active stereoscopic images.

  • There has been a great interest in the use of titanium for fixed and removable prostheses in recent because of its excellent biocompatibility. However the high melting temperature and chemical reactivity of titanium necessitates casting systems different from those used in conventional casting. The current titanium casting systems are based on an electric-arc design for melting the metal in an argon atmosphere and its exclusive investment. Despite the new developments in Ti casting systems, inadequate mold filling and internal porosity are frequently observed casting defects. Therefore, the study on the fabrication technique including sprue design to solve these casting defects is still necessary. In this study to evaluate the effect of sprue design on the castability of simulated cast titanium crowns, 10 cylindrical cast crowns for each group with four different sprue design(Single group. Double group, Runner bar group. Reservoir group) were fabricated. An impression of the entire casting margin was made and cut at $90^{\circ}$ intervals, and the sections were photographed in a microscope at $100{\times}$ magnification to record marginal discrepancy. The internal porosities of the cast crowns were disclosed by radiographs. Within the limits of this study. the following conclusions were drawn. 1. The overall mean marginal discrepancies for each group were as follows: Double group, $43.65{\mu}m$; Reservoir group, $50.27{\mu}m$; Single group, $54.17{\mu}m$; Runner bar group, $58.90{\mu}m$ (p<0.05). 2. The mean of marginal discrepancies for wax patterns was $10.65{\mu}m$. 3 The numbers of internal porosity showed the most in Runner bar group followed by Single group, Reservoir group, and Double group.

  • Due to the need for advanced technologies in the automotive industry, the demand for lighter and safer vehicles has increased. Even though various nonferrous metals, like Aluminum, Magnesium and also Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP), have been implemented in the automotive industry, a lot of technical research and development is still focused on ferrous metals. In particular, the market volume of High Strength Steel (HSS) parts and Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS) by hot press forming parts has expanded significantly in all countries' automotive industries. A new tool steel, High Thermal-Conductivity Tool Steel (HTCS), for stamping punches and dies has been developed and introduced by Rovalma Company (Spain), and it is able to support better productivity and quality during hot press forming. The HTCS punches and dies could help to reduce cycle time due to their high thermal conductivity, one of the major factors in hot press forming operation. In this study, test dies were manufactured in order to verify the high thermal conductivity of HTCS material compared to SKD6. In addition, thermal deformation was inspected after the heating and cooling process of hot press forming. After heating and cooling, the test dies were measured by a 3D scanner and compared with the original geometry. The results showed that the thermal deformation and distortion were very small even though the cooling time was reduced by 2 seconds.

  • The purpose of this study was to observe characteristic properties of amalgam through the polarization curves and SEM images from 4 type amalgams (Amalcap, Shofu spherical. Dispersalloy and Tytin) with 3 different surface finish procedures (polishing, burnishing and carving) by using the potentiostats (EG & GPARC) and SEM (Jeol JSM-35). After each amalgam alloy and Hg was triturated as the direction of the manufacturer by means of mechanical amalgamator (Samki), the triturated mass was inserted into the cylndrical metal mold which was 12 mm in diameter and 10 mm in height and was pressed with $100kg/cm^2$. 4 specimens of each type amalgam were burnished with egg burnisher and another 4 specimens of each type amalgam were carved with Hollenback carver. Above 8 specimens and remaining untreated 4 specimens were stored at room temperature for about 7 days. Untreated 4 specimens of each type amalgam were polished with abrasive papers (Deer) from #400 to #1200 and finally on the polishing cloth with $0.5{\mu}m$ and $0.06{\mu}m$ $Al_2O_3 $ powder suspended water. Anodic polarization measurements was employed to compare the corrosion behaviours of the amalgams in 0.9% saline solution at $37^{\circ}C$. The open circuit potential was determined after 30 minutes immersion of specimen in electrolyte. The scan rate was 1 mV/sec and the surface area of amalgam exposed to the solution was $0.64cm^2$ for each specimen. All the potentials reported are with respect to a saturated calomel electrode (SCE). SEM images of each specimen were taken after + 800 mV (SCE) polarization. The results were as follows: 1. The corrosion potential of high copper amalgam was more anodic than that of low copper amalgam. 2. The polished amalgam were more resistant to corrosion than any other burnished and carved amalgam. 3. In the case of polishing, current density of high copper amalgam was lower than that of low copper amalgam.

  • In this study, the flow analyses around according to the existence or non- existence of the trailer's deflector and the shapes were carried out. In the absence of a deflector, the kinetic energy of the turbulence behind the container also generates higher kinetic energy in a wider area than in the presence of a deflector, which adversely affects the vehicle's driving performance. As a trailer's wind deflector-free model has unstable flow rates around the trailer and high kinetic energy of turbulence than a model with a deflector, it can be thought that the increase of fuel economy can be expected by installing a deflector in the trailer. By applying the study result on flow analysis near trailer due to shape of wind deflector, this study is seen to be suitable for the aesthetic convergence.

  • In this study, the thermal and stress analyses were performed by applying a temperature condition of 100℃ at CPU cooler model. The value of heat flux value is shown to be the most at the lower rod area. The upper part becomes, the smaller the heat flow rate. The highest temperature is shown at the bottom of the CPU cooler model. Overall, the upper part becomes, the smaller the temperature becomes. Based on the temperature analysis, the thermal deformation caused by expansion, the deformation becomes smaller as the upper part of the overlapping plates. The great deformation happens at the bent area of the small rod as the lower part of model and the least deformation is shown at the lowest floor of model. In addition, the maximum thermal stress of 570.63 MPa happens at the floor below model. The stress is shown to decrease as the upper part of the overlapping plates becomes. But the stress is shown to increase somewhat at the middle part of model. By applying the study result on the thermal and stress analyses of CPU cooler, this study is seen to be suitable for the aesthetic convergence.

  • The flow analyses in this study were executed on the three washing machine models with the rotors like real shapes. On the pressures and speeds for the left, right and bottom planes of rotors, model C was generally found to have the greatest pressure on the flow, more than twice as much as model A, and in order of model B and model A. At the streamline velocities of flow on the side of the rotating blades of models A, B and C, model C had the greatest rate of flow overall, which was 1.7 times higher than model A, followed by model B and model A. In case of model C, the number of blades is smaller than model A or model B, but the thickness of lower rotor becomes thicker. It can be seen that model C improves the washing performance due to the high flow pressure and high flow rate. Also, it is seen that this study is adequate at the efficient design with durability of the washing machine rotor practically and the aesthetic convergence of the rotor.

  • In this study, the deformation and stress on each model was analyzed and the strength was compared with each other when the impacts on a total of four smart phone models was given. Models B and D with cases can be seen to have less deformation and stress than models A and C without cases. The models including the case have higher masses than the models without the case. So, the deformation and stress can be reduced by absorbing the impact force. In addition, the masses of models C and D are smaller than models A and B, but the stresses and deformations are seen to be smaller. If a case specialized for edge protection is chosen and designed when manufacturing a smart-phone in order to absorb the shock while weighing less, it is thought to improve the strength of the smart-phone and increase the durability. And it is seen that this study is adequate at the efficient design with durability of smart phone case practically and the aesthetic convergence of smart phone.
