이 연구는 DSpace를 기반으로 구축한 기관 리포지토리 메타데이터 요소의 활용 현황을 살펴보고 향후 DSpace를 사용하여 기관 리포지토리를 구축하고자 하는 기관을 위한 메타데이터의 구축 방향과 활용 전략을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 삼았다. 이를 위해, 이 연구에서는 (1) DSpace의 개발 배경과 특징, 메타데이터 요소와 활용 방법에 대해 살펴본 후, (2) DSpace를 기반으로 한 국내 기관 리포지토리 중 사례 기관을 선정하여 모든 기관에서 공통적으로 활용되는 메타데이터 요소는 무엇이며, 개별 기관에서 추가 또는 확장하여 사용하는 요소는 무엇인지를 구분하여 분석하였다. 이에 더해, (3) 입력된 메타데이터가 검색에 어떻게 활용되고 있는지 검색 방식, 검색 요소 및 디스플레이 요소 등으로 나누어 검토한 후, 마지막으로, (4) 연구결과를 토대로 기관 리포지토리에서 메타데이터 구축시 기관이 고려해야 할 과제와 추진전략에 대해 논의하였다 이러한 논의를 수행함에 있어 필요한 데이터는 문헌연구와 사례분석을 통해 수집하였다.

In this study, data repository information registered in re3data (re3data.org), a research data registry, was collected. Based on collected data, the current status was analyzed for 354 repositories (approximately 14% of total repositories) in the field using keywords in the ecological field suggested by two experts. Major metadata formats used to describe data in ecological research data repositories include Federal Geographic Data Committee Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (FGDC/CSDGM), Dublin Core, ISO 19115, Ecological Metadata Language (EML), Directory Interchange Format (DIF), Darwin Core, Data Documentation Initiative (DDI), and DataCite Metadata Schema. The number of ecological repositories according to country is 102 in the US, 34 in Germany, 31 in Canada, and one in Korea. A total of 771 non-profit organizations and 12 for-profit organizations are involved in the construction of the ecological field research data repository. Data version control ratio of the ecological field research data repositories registered in re3data was analyzed to be somewhat higher (86.6%) than the total ratio (83.9%). Results of this study can be used to establish policies to build and operate a research data repository in the ecological field.

메타데이터는 데이터에 관한 데이터로 데이터를 관리하기 위하여 사용된다. 데이터베이스를 기반으로 하는 응용프로그램이 증가하면서 메타데이터를 관리하기 위해 XML(eXtensible Markup Language)형식의 메타데이터 모델 및 메타데이터 교환모델이 제안되고 있지만 XML형식의 메타데이터를 관계형 데이터베이스에 저장하는 것이 일반적이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 관계형 데이터베이스의 메타데이터를 객체지향 데이터베이스에 저장하기 위해 메타데이터 모델과 메타데이터 교환모델을 설계하여 메타데이터를 관리하는 새로운 리파지토리 시스템 구현을 목적으로 한다. 관계형 데이터베이스의 메타데이터를 XML문서로 변형 후 객체지향 데이터베이스의 XML 데이터 서버인 eXcelon에 저장하여 XQL (XML Query Language)에 의해 질의함으로써 관계형 데이터베이스 시스템들의 메타데이터의 검색, 편집을 가능하도록 하고 XSL(extensible StyleSheets Language)의 적용을 통하여 다양한 양식으로 웹 브라우져 상에 메타데이터를 출력함으로써 메타데이터의 속성을 면밀히 파악할 수 있다.

국내 대표적인 기관 레포지터리인 dCollection에서 다양한 유형의 학술자원을 기술할 수 있도록 SOMS 메타데이터의 확장안을 제시하였다. 이를 위해 국내외 기관 레포지터리의 동향을 메타데이터와 관련된 측면에서 조사하였으며, DSpace를 개발 운영하고 있는 MIT와 MIT 메타데이터를 확장해 사용하는 브뤽셀 대학의 DISpace 메타데이터를 분석하고 SOMS에서 확장이 필요한 요소를 도출하였다. 제안된 SOMS는 다양한 유형의 자원을 기술하고, 기관 내 연구업적정보시스템과 연계하여 수집된 데이터를 보다 더 상세하게 기술할 수 있을 것이다.

OAK(Open Access Korea)는 오픈 액세스 지식정보의 공동 활용 및 통합서비스 체제 구축을 위해 국가적 차원에서 추진하고 있는 기관 리포지터리 사업이다. 그러나 메타데이터의 구축과 공유에 있어 다양한 문제를 내재하고 있어 OAK 메타데이터 요소에 대한 개선이 시급한 상황이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 OAK 참여기관에서 사용하는 메타데이터 요소를 세밀하게 분석하고, OAK와 유사한 성격의 국내외 리포지터리 사례를 참조해 가면서, OAK 메타데이터 수정(안)을 제안하였다. 구체적으로, OAK 참여기관의 메타데이터 현황을 조사하기 위해 17개 기관의 사례를 입수하여 분석하였으며, 참여기관에서 사용하는 메타데이터 요소의 용도가 명확하지 않은 경우 기관 리포지터리 담당자와의 인터뷰를 통해 보완하였다. 더불어, DSpace, EPrints, BEPress, ETD-db, dCollection 리포지터리의 메타데이터 사례를 분석한 다음, OAK 참여기관 실무자들과의 대면 회의 및 이메일 교환을 통해 최종적인 OAK 수정(안)을 도출하였다.

Nowadays, research data repositories (RDR) have become progressively widespread all over the world. To expand repository services and build up inbound linking strategy, organizations list their repositories with so called Global Registries. Accordingly, such registries should be carefully described by the related data. In this study, I explore the metadata schema of re3data.org. I collect and analyze descriptions from the listed repositories, and come up with some suggestions concerning possible improvements to the metadata schema. To accomplish this, I develop a crawler program, which collects necessary data from the re3data.org. Based on the analysis results, I have identified two issues that required elements is missing, one issue that required element value is missing when the corresponding property is applied, five inconsistency issues with re3data controlled vocabulary, six issues with undescribed optional elements, and two inconsistency issues between the elements and their attributes which do not pair with. I believe this discussion can facilitate improvements to the existing re3data.org schema and further help researchers who analyze data repository trends.

일반적으로 객체지향 모델링으로 UML을 이용한 설계방법이 많이 사용되고 있다. 그러나 UML을 이용한 메타데이터의 생성은 서로 다른 환경에서 언어와 이에 관련된 세부적인 기능들에 대한 표현의 차이점으로 쉽지가 않다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 패턴 및 클래스에 대한 부분을 정형화, 표준화하기 위한 방법으로 XML Metadata Interchange Format(XMI)를 이용하였다. 그리고 메타모델의 설계를 위해서 XMI 메타모델 중 사용의 빈도수가 많은 4개의 엘리먼트(element)만을 선택하여 메타데이터를 생성하였다. 생성된 메타데이터를 저장하기 위해서 DB를 이용한 저장소를 설계하였으며, 패턴 및 각 클래스 구성에 대한 정보를 추가하고 질의어(query)를 이용하여 메타데이터의 재사용 및 확장이 용이하도록 하였다

대학의 학과기록은 대학기록관 부재로 인하여 또는 대학기록관이 있다 할지라도 관리영역 밖으로 인지되어 체계적인 수집 및 보존이 안 되어왔다. 본 연구는 학과기록을 보다 용이하게 수집하고 보존하며 이러한 학과기록에 개방적 접근이 가능하도록 하는 방안으로 학과기록 리포지터리 플랫폼을 구축하고자 한다. 먼저 대학에서의 학과기록 실태를 파악하기 위하여 국립대학과 사립대학 소속 70명의 학과조교와 32개 대학의 대학기록관 담당자를 대상으로 학과기록의 생산과 보유 현황, 학과기록의 기술요소, 학과기록에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 이를 바탕으로 학과기록 관리를 위한 26개 기술항목을 선정하였고 OAK 리포지터리 환경을 기반으로 데이터베이스 및 기능설계를 수행하였다. 그 결과 로그인 관리 기능, 파일등록 기능, 검색 기능, 브라우징 기능을 갖춘 학과기록 리포지터리 플랫폼인 'DRRU(Department Records Repository in the University)'를 구축하였다. 제안된 'DRRU'는 실험데이터 검증을 통하여 각 구성된 기능 및 인터페이스가 적합하게 구현된 것으로 확인되었다.

B2B registries are information systems to registrate B2B related business information such as companies' profiles, business documents, business processes, services and to provide query facilities to find information about potential business partners. In this study, we focus on the design of the repository for B2B business processes. In this paper, a metadata ontology is designed to registrate B2B business processes. In practice, there are several competitive business process definition languages such as ebXML BPSS (Business Process Specification Schema), WSBPEL (Web Service Business Process Execution Language), BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation), and so on. In order to registrate business processes based on different representation frameworks, the proposed metadata ontology consist of three layers, common metadata, language-specific metadata, and interrelationship metadata. To implement the proposed metadata ontology using ebXML registry, metadata mapping scheme to ebRIM (ebXML Registry Information Model) are also suggested.

Currently, many companies are trying to be more competitive by implementing the most appropriate software package, called ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). ERP can support the company's business process. A repository, which can store and retrieve enterprise-wide information, is a key component of such software package. This paper implements an enterprise repository for the ERP. A well-known repository standard, IRDS (Information Resource Dictionary System), is employed for the repository architecture. The proposed metadata schema can help develop database, business applications, models, and workflow. To illustrate the practical usefulness, a real-life ERP prototype is built within the framework of the proposed repository.
