  • This paper proposes an XML based Multimedia Annotation and Retrieval System, which can represent and retrieve video data efficiently using XML. The system provides a graphical user interface for annotating, searching, and browsing multimedia data. It is Implemented based on the hierarchical metadata model to represent multimedia information. The metadata about video is organized based on multimedia description schema using XML Schema that basically conforms to the MPEG-7 standard. Also, for the effective indexing and retrieval of multimedia data, video segments are annotated and categorized using the closed caption.

  • The change in information technology demands drastic change in digital library service. This study defines what a social semantic digital library should consist of and proposes a new architecture that incorporates core functions needed in designing a SSDL. The SSDL supports semantic information processing based on metadata and ontology and is an innovation system that allows SSDL users to participate in generating new knowledge by interacting with existing metadata and ontology structures. This study designed a SSDL model that consists of five horizontal and two vertical structures.

  • North Korea launched an ICBM and declared Moratorium for the September 19 military talks. The Armed Forces must protect military security for national defense and security. The Ministry of National Defense, which received a hacking attack from North Korea, must protect its military security even more. Recently, the leakage of military data through smartphones is occurring through smartphones. Officers and non-commissioned officers can use smartphones while working. Therefore, smartphone forensics is required to check information leakage of military data from smartphones. In this study, forensic leaks of military data from the Galaxy S20 model of S company. Research integrity verification for securing smartphone forensic evidence, securing metadata, and adopting evidence. This study will contribute to the development of military security and forensic technology.

  • In order to solve the problems of the digital library's Interoperability and integrated management, we analyzed core technologies for interoperability in digital library in terms of information creation, organization, service. And then we proposed information technology reference model that is composed of 7 scopes. The proposed scope included 1)Metadata Management, 2)Library Services, 3)Service Integration 4)Service Management, 5)Open Interface, 6)Network, 7)Architecture. Those results can be used as a framework for developing interoperable digital library system.

  • Festival records are valuable social records, not only historically but also culturally. Even though festival records are worthy of preservation, many of them are not managed appropriately. In particular, photographs taken by the public are dispersed in various SNS services such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. This study collected festival photographs, taken by the public, from these SNS services and built a participatory archive for Daegu. As such, this study identified and suggested a metadata set through the process of archiving festival photographs. In addition, this study proposed a model of the participatory archive for festival photographs. This model illustrated the institute's collection of festival photographs in the SNS services and the creation of the participatory archive.

  • The number of CCTV units is rapidly increasing annually, and the demand for intelligent video-analytics system is also increasing continuously for the effective monitoring of them. The existing analytics engines, however, require considerable computing resources and cannot provide a sufficient detection accuracy. For this paper, a light analytics engine was employed to analyze video and we collected metadata, such as an object's location and size, and the dwell time from the engine. A further data analysis was then performed to filter out the target of interest; as a result, it was possible to verify that a light engine and the heavy data analytics of the metadata from that engine can reject an enormous amount of environmental noise to extract the target of interest effectively. The result of this research is expected to contribute to the development of active intelligent-monitoring systems for the future.

  • This paper proposes a new personalized mobile advertising service using a smartphone connected with a digital signage which is increasingly common for out-of-home advertising. The advertising contents can be transferred with their metadata to a digital signage. Then, the signage delivers only metadata to smartphones in close proximity of it. Based on the user's preference, an application on a smartphone stores advertising metadata and publishes a personalized advertising e-catalog automatically. A smartphone user can browse, edit and share it with friends. In the view of extension of the reach of the advertising contents of various N-Screen devices including a digital signage and a smart TV to a smartphone and supplying personalized advertising data, this advertising model will be very beneficial and commercialized in the near future.

  • CDISC (Clinical Data Interchanging Standards Consortium) standards are to support the acquisition, exchange, submission and archival of clinical trial and research data. SDTM (Study Data Tabulation Model) for Case Report Forms (CRFs) was recommended for U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory submissions since 2004. Although the SDTM Implementation Guide gives a standardized and predefined collection of submission metadata 'domains' containing extensive variable collections, transforming CRFs to SDTM files for FDA submission is still a very hard and time-consuming task. For addressing this issue, we developed metadata based SDTM mapping rules. Using these mapping rules, we also developed a semi-automatic tool, named CDISC Transformer, for transforming clinical trial data to CDISC standard compliant data. The performance of CDISC Transformer with or without MDR support was evaluated using CDISC blank CRF as the 'gold standard'. Both MDR and user inquiry-supported transformation substantially improved the accuracy of our transformation rules. CDISC Transformer will greatly reduce the workloads and enhance standardized data entry and integration for clinical trial and research in various healthcare domains.

  • Intrusion detection systems that learn metadata of network packets have been proposed recently. However these approaches require time to analyze packets to generate metadata for model learning, and time to pre-process metadata before learning. In addition, models that have learned specific metadata cannot detect intrusion by using original packets flowing into the network as they are. To address the problem, this paper propose a natural language processing-based intrusion detection system that detects intrusions by learning the packet payload as a single sentence without an additional conversion process. To verify the performance of our approach, we utilized the UNSW-NB15 and Transformer models. First, the PCAP files of the dataset were labeled, and then two Transformer (BERT, DistilBERT) models were trained directly in the form of sentences to analyze the detection performance. The experimental results showed that the binary classification accuracy was 99.03% and 99.05%, respectively, which is similar or superior to the detection performance of the techniques proposed in previous studies. Multi-class classification showed better performance with 86.63% and 86.36%, respectively.

  • As there are diverse delivery media and forms of information resources, their management schemes are diverse as well. In library community, cataloguing. rules for describing information resources such as AACR and KCR have been developed. The efforts to automate management of information resources based on these rules resulted in the development of MARC. However, MARC records are restricted in describing the information resources and MARC has various and distinct characteristics of the structural rigidity, which does not support the representation of extended semantic structures that exist among bibliographic entities. Therefore, since the data model for MARC is single-layer data model, it is not appropriate for describing information resources represented by multi-layer data model which can be used to set up the relationships among various objects in digital libraries. In this paper, we propose an a metadata model for digital libraries based on the IFLA FRBR basic model which supports multi-layer data model and a representation scheme based on XML Schema to manage the metadata about old books, old documents, resource related to music, conferences and seminars.
