귀추전략 과학수업이 초등학생의 과학적 개념 이해와 초인지에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Science Classes Using Abductive Strategies Applied to Elementary School Students on Scientific Concept Understanding and Meta-cognition)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of science classes using abductive strategies on the scientific concept understanding and meta-cognition. The subjects included two classes of sixth graders from K Elementary School in B Metropolitan City and they divided into two groups. Research group was composed of 21 students(10 boys, 11 girls) and comparative group was composed of 21 students(11 boys, 10 girls). In order to achieve aims of this study, proper contents to apply abductive strategies were selected from the first semester science curriculum for sixth graders. Also five-steps study papers were designed to elicit abductive reasoning. While the research group received 20 times of reframed science lessons using abductive strategies, the comparative group received common science lessons according to the teachers' manual. The results of this study are as follows. First, science classes using abductive strategies were effective for the scientific concept understanding. Also there were statistically significant differences between the research group and the comparative group in overall science sub-domain. In the process of hypothesis formulating, students tried to find out scientific causes thoroughly to present the optimal explanation and they concentrated on the analysis of each scientific concept. It is thought that this process contributed to better understanding in scientific concepts. Second, science classes using abductive strategies were effective for improving meta-cognition. There were statistically significant differences between the two groups and especially in monitoring that is one of sub-factors of meta-cognition. It indicates that hypothesis formulating process gave positive effect on meta-cognition by stimulating critical thinking and manifesting elaboration.

Reliability of microarray analysis for studying periodontitis: low consistency in 2 periodontitis cohort data sets from different platforms and an integrative meta-analysis

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the characteristic expression patterns of advanced periodontitis in 2 cohort data sets analyzed using different microarray platforms, and to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) through a meta-analysis of both data sets. Methods: Twenty-two patients for cohort 1 and 40 patients for cohort 2 were recruited with the same inclusion criteria. The 2 cohort groups were analyzed using different platforms: Illumina and Agilent. A meta-analysis was performed to increase reliability by removing statistical differences between platforms. An integrative meta-analysis based on an empirical Bayesian methodology (ComBat) was conducted. DEGs for the integrated data sets were identified using the limma package to adjust for age, sex, and platform and compared with the results for cohorts 1 and 2. Clustering and pathway analyses were also performed. Results: This study detected 557 and 246 DEGs in cohorts 1 and 2, respectively, with 146 and 42 significantly enriched gene ontology (GO) terms. Overlapping between cohorts 1 and 2 was present in 59 DEGs and 18 GO terms. However, only 6 genes from the top 30 enriched DEGs overlapped, and there were no overlapping GO terms in the top 30 enriched pathways. The integrative meta-analysis detected 34 DEGs, of which 10 overlapped in all the integrated data sets of cohorts 1 and 2. Conclusions: The characteristic expression pattern differed between periodontitis and the healthy periodontium, but the consistency between the data sets from different cohorts and metadata was too low to suggest specific biomarkers for identifying periodontitis.

알루미노실리케이트계 지오폴리머의 압축강도에 미치는 물유리의 영향 (Influence of Water Glass Content on the Compressive Strength of Aluminosilicate-Based Geopolymer)

  • Geopolymer is a term covering a class of synthetic aluminosilicate materials with potential use in a number of areas, but mainly as a replacement for Portland cement. In this study, geopolymers with fly ash and meta kaolin were prepared using KOH as an alkali activator and water glass. The effect of water glass on the microstructures and the compressive strength of the geopolymer was investigated. As the amount of water glass increased, the dissolved inorganic binder particles in the geopolymers increased due to polymerization, resulting in a dense microstructure. The meta kaolin-based geopolymer showed a better extent of polymerization and densification than that of the fly ash-based geopolymer. XRD data also suggested that polymerization in meta kaolin-based geopolymers should be active resulting in the formation of an amorphous phase with an increasing amount of water glass. The compressive strength of the geopolymer was also dependent on the amount of water glass. The compressive strength of the geopolymers from both fly ash and meta kaolin increased with an increasing amount of water glass because water glass improved the extent of polymerization of the inorganic binder and resulted in a dense microstructure. However, the addition of water glass to the geopolymer did not seem to be effective for the improvement of compressive strength because the meta kaolin-based geopolymer mainly consisted of a clay component. For this reason, the fly ash-based geopolymer showed a higher value of compressive strength than the meta-kaolin geopolymer.

AMSTAR에 기반한 국내 언어치료 분야 메타분석 논문의 방법론적 질평가 (The evaluation of methodological quality of meta-analysis studies in speech language pathology using AMSTAR)

  • 재활과학분야에서 메타분석을 이용한 연구가 증가하는 추세이지만 모든 메타분석 논문의 질적 수준이 동일한 것은 아니다. 특히, 메타분석이 가장 상위의 근거수준을 가진 연구방법임에도 불구하고, 개별 연구들 간의 이질성을 고려하지 않고 단순히 대푯값만을 통합할 경우 결과를 왜곡시킬 뿐만 아니라 잘못된 대안을 도출할 가능성이 높다. 본 연구는 2010년 1월부터 2019년 6월까지 우리나라에서 출판된 언어중재를 주제로 한 메타분석 논문을 대상으로 현황을 파악하고, A Measurement Tool to Assess the Methodological Quality of Systematic Review(AMSTAR)를 이용하여 방법론적 질을 평가하였다. 검색된 논문 98편 중 최종 5편 논문의 방법론적 질을 평가한 결과 총점 11점 중에서 평균 7.4점이 산출되어 보통 이상의 수준으로 확인되었다. 향후 언어병리학 메타연구의 질적 수준을 높이기 위해서는 출판편향에 대한 검증과 이해상충에 대한 명시를 포함해야 할 것으로 사료된다.

다중 클래스 데이터셋의 메타특징이 판별 알고리즘의 성능에 미치는 영향 연구 (The Effect of Meta-Features of Multiclass Datasets on the Performance of Classification Algorithms)

  • 기업의 경쟁력 확보를 위해 판별 알고리즘을 활용한 의사결정 역량제고가 필요하다. 하지만 대부분 특정 문제영역에는 적합한 판별 알고리즘이 어떤 것인지에 대한 지식은 많지 않아 대부분 시행착오 형식으로 최적 알고리즘을 탐색한다. 즉, 데이터셋의 특성에 따라 어떠한 분류알고리즘을 채택하는 것이 적합한지를 판단하는 것은 전문성과 노력이 소요되는 과업이었다. 이는 메타특징(Meta-Feature)으로 불리는 데이터셋의 특성과 판별 알고리즘 성능과의 연관성에 대한 연구가 아직 충분히 이루어지지 않았기 때문이며, 더구나 다중 클래스(Multi-Class)의 특성을 반영하는 메타특징에 대한 연구 또한 거의 이루어진 바 없다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 다중 클래스 데이터셋의 메타특징이 판별 알고리즘의 성능에 유의한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 실증 분석을 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 다중 클래스 데이터셋의 메타특징을 데이터셋의 구조와 데이터셋의 복잡도라는 두 요인으로 분류하고, 그 안에서 총 7가지 대표 메타특징을 선택하였다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 기존 연구에서 사용하던 IR(Imbalanced Ratio) 대신 시장집중도 측정 지표인 허핀달-허쉬만 지수(Herfindahl-Hirschman Index, HHI)를 메타특징에 포함하였으며, 역ReLU 실루엣 점수(Reverse ReLU Silhouette Score)도 새롭게 제안하였다. UCI Machine Learning Repository에서 제공하는 복수의 벤치마크 데이터셋으로 다양한 변환 데이터셋을 생성한 후에 대표적인 여러 판별 알고리즘에 적용하여 성능 비교 및 가설 검증을 수행하였다. 그 결과 대부분의 메타특징과 판별 성능 사이의 유의한 관련성이 확인되었으며, 일부 예외적인 부분에 대한 고찰을 하였다. 본 연구의 실험 결과는 향후 메타특징에 따른 분류알고리즘 추천 시스템에 활용할 것이다.

A Comprehensive Theoretical Framework for a Better Understanding of Motivations of Participants in OSS Development Projects: A Meta-Research Approach

  • Participants in Open Source Software (OSS) development projects usually contribute voluntarily without expecting direct compensation for their work. One of the central puzzles raised by the success of OSS is the motivation of the participants; why top-notch programmers choose to write software that is released for no fee. In order to respond to this peculiarity employing a meta-research method, we first identify and review theoretical perspectives from diverse disciplines including economics, sociology, political science, anthropology, psychology, and management. Then, we suggest a comprehensive framework that provides a holistic understanding of the puzzle in question. Reviewing key empirical studies based on the suggested framework, we also suggest a future research agenda.

웹 기반 학습자의 메타인지수준별 학습활동분석 -간호학 대학원 학생을 중심으로- (A Study on Interaction Pattern, Learning Attitude, Task Performance by Meta-cognitive Level in Web-Based Learning)

  • Purpose: Level of meta-cognition of students has been regarded as one of the crucial factors on web-based learning. This study aimed to describe interaction type in small group discussion of the nursing graduate students and to investigate learning consequences and interaction types in group discussion on meta-cognition level. Method: Twenty six graduate nursing students attending the class on-line at the K university in Seoul were included in the study. We measured their meta-cognition level and learning attitude. We also scored their individual and group reports as well as analyzed interaction type by reviewing the dialogue of the group discussion. Results: The participants showed low frequency of exploratory interaction and high frequency of integrative interaction in the cognitive interaction category. They showed frequent modification interaction in the meta-cognitive interaction category. Interestingly, the students with lower level of meta-cognition achieved significantly greater scores in the individual assignments. High functioning group consisting of the students with high meta-cognitive level produced greater group report. Conclusion: A new strategy is needed to encourage in-depth interaction in a group discussion of nursing students. Meta-cognitive level of the students should be considered to form a small group for discussion in order to improve group activities.

뇌졸중 환자의 동작관찰훈련이 보행에 미치는 효과에 대한 메타분석; 국내연구를 중심으로 (Meta-Analysis on the Effects of Action Observation Training on Stroke Patients' Walking; Focused on Domestic Research)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the meta-analysis on the effects of action observation training on stroke patients' walking. Methods : Domestic databases (DBpia, KISS, NDSL, and RISS) were searched for studies that conducted randomized controlled trials (RCTs) associated with action observation training in adults after stroke. The search outcomes were items associated with the walking function. The 18 studies that were included in the study were analyzed using R meta-analysis. A random-effect model was used for the analysis of the effect size because of the significant heterogeneity among the studies. Sub-group and meta-regression analysis were also used. Egger's regression test was conducted to analyze the publishing bias. Cumulative meta-analysis and sensitivity analysis were also done to analyze a data error. Results : The mean effect size was 2.77. The sub-group analysis showed a statistical difference in the number of training sessions per week. No statistically significant difference was found in the meta-regression analysis. Publishing bias was found in the data, but the results of the trim-and-fill method showed that such bias did not affect the obtained data. Also, the cumulative meta-analysis and sensitivity analysis showed no data errors. Conclusion : The meta-analysis of the studies that conducted randomized clinical trials revealed that action observation training effectively improved walking of the chronic stroke patients.

Effect of aquatic exercise on gait in persons with chronic stroke: a meta-analysis study in Korea

  • Objective: Based on the results of previous studies, it is necessary to analyze gait and discuss and present the effects of aquatic exercise for chronic stroke. The purpose of this study was to present objective data on the effect of aquatic exercise on the gait of persons with stroke by performing a meta-analysis. Design: A systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods: We performed a meta-analysis of 23 studies that investigated the effects of aquatic exercise performed between 2006 and 2017. The studies were searched on the basis of the participants, intervention, comparison, outcomes standard. The quality of the research method was assessed using a tool that can assess the risks posed by each study design. A meta-analysis software program was used to calculate the mean effect size, effect size by intervention, and effect size by outcome. We also performed a meta-regression analysis and an analysis of publication bias. Results: The mean effect size of the patients' gait was 0.65 (p<0.05). The largest effect size by outcome was observed at the 6-m walk test, followed by the 6-minutes walk test, 10-m walk test, and the walking equipment test (p<0.05). The meta-regression analysis showed that the effect size increased with increased duration, number, and length of sessions. Conclusions: Aquatic exercise appears to show a moderate effect on the gait of chronic stroke survivors. Meta-analyses on the effects of aquatic exercise in other patient populations are needed. This study suggests standard criteria establishments for the effect of aquatic exercise on the walking ability of persons with chronic stroke.

메타패션 시장 확장을 위한 메타패션과 실제패션 특성 비교와 그 방향성 예측 -Z세대 크리에이터의 제페토 스튜디오와 온라인 쇼핑몰을 중심으로- (Comparison of Characteristics of Meta-Fashion and Real Fashion to Predict the Expansion and Direction of the Meta-Fashion Market -Focused on Gen Z Creators' ZEPETO Studios and Online Shops-)

  • By analyzing the style of creator avatars in the world of Metaverse, which is emerging as a fourth-generation social media platform, this study aims to identify the meta-fashion tastes of Generation Z (Gen Z) creators (born in the late 2010s and early 2020s) and to analyze the extent to which current trends in the fashion market are influencing meta-fashion. The research method uses a case study to compare meta-fashion and current fashion trends. First, five Gen Z fashion creators on ZEPETO were selected to analyze the meta-fashion styles presented by this group. In the end, a total of 100 fashion styles were analyzed by combining 50 items each from the current meta-fashion and real fashion trends. The fashion styles were found to be hip-hop, easy-casual, punk, lovely feminine, and sexy, and the main fashion items were analyzed as jeans, hip-hop style pants, sneakers, tight crop tops, dresses, tattoos, chain accessories, and dyeing. Meta-fashion is the emergence of items similar in shape to those popular in the current fashion market, but are more exaggerated or show off the human body than actual fashion items.
