In the case of multiple commerce contracts in commerce, as well as multiple contracts related to it, a solution for the merging of arbitration proceedings is necessary in order to ensure uniformity of dispute resolution. Since the arbitration proceedings are based on the parties' agreement, no merging of two or more arbitration proceedings may transpire unless all parties agree. Claims of merging in arbitration proceedings lead to problems such as lack of party autonomy, resulting from lack of consent of the parties to merging, and how to appoint an arbitrator in a multilateral arbitration proceeding. Many of the major arbitration bodies have recognized the significant benefits of the terms of consolidation, and have recently revised the Arbitration Rules to include or extend existing clauses to reflect the needs of the parties. This study introduces the merging provisions of several selected major arbitration rules, such as the ICC, Switzerland, SCC, LCIA, SIAC, HKIAC, ACICA, and UNCITRAL rules, and looks at the main similarities and differences among the rules.
This paper presents a control method for the experimental mobile vehicle. By merging the advantages of neural network, adaptive and fuzzy control, neural network-based adaptive fuzzy control is proposed. It can deal with a large amount of training data by neural network, from these data producing more accurate fuzzy rules by adaptive control, and then controlling the object by fuzzy control. This is not the simple combination of the three methods, but merging them into one control system Experiments and some future considerations are given.
This paper proposes a fuzzy classifier system (FCS) using hyper-cone membership functions (HCMFs) and rule reduction techniques. The FCS can generate excellent rules which have the best number of rules and the best location and shape of membership functions. The HCMF is expressed by a kind of radial basis function, and its fuzzy rule can be flexibly located in input and output spaces. The rule reduction technique adopts a decreasing method by merging the two appropriate rules. We applay the FCS to a tubby rule generation for the inverted pendulum control.
For an automated transportation system like PRT(Personal Rapid Transit) system or IVHS, an efficient vehicle-merging algorithm is required for smooth operation of the network. For management of merging, collision avoidance between vehicles, ride comfort, and the effect on traffic should be considered. This paper proposes an unmanned vehicle-merging algorithm that consists of two procedures. First, a longitudinal control algorithm is designed to keep a safe headway between vehicles in a single lane. Secondly, 'vacant slot and ghost vehicle' concept is introduced and a decision algorithm is designed to determine the sequence of vehicles entering a converging section considering energy consumption, ride comfort, and total traffic flow. The sequencing algorithm is based on fuzzy rules and the membership functions are determined first by an intuitive method and then trained by a learning method using a neural network. The vehicle-merging algorithm is shown to be effective through simulations based on a PRT model.
This paper presents the use of an evert system to automate process planning of block assembly, a task that is usually completed manually. In order to determine the sequence of assembly operation, a search method guided by rules, such as merging of related operations, grouping of similar operations, and precedence rules based on know-hows and geometrical reasoning, is used. In this paper, the expert system developed is explained in detail regarding a global database, control strategies, and rule bases. For verification purposes, the evert system has been applied to simple examples. Since the rule bases are isolated from the inference engine in the developed system, it is easy to add more rules in the future.
Abstract - In this paper, a segmentation method for brain Magnetic Resonance(MR) image using region clustering technique with statistical distribution of gradient image and fuzzy rules is described. The brain MRI consists of gray matter and white matter, cerebrospinal fluid. But due to noise, overlap, vagueness, and various parameters, segmentation of MR image is a very difficult task. We use gradient information rather than intensity directly from the MR images and find appropriate thresholds for region classification using gradient approximation, rayleigh distribution function, region clustering, and merging techniques. And then, we propose the adaptive fuzzy rules in order to extract anatomical structures and diseases from brain MR image data. The experimental results shows that the proposed segmentation algorithm given better performance than traditional segmentation techniques.
The merit of the stroke extraction algorithm is the ease of the feature abstraction from the skeleton of a character, But, extracting strokes from Korean characters has two major problems that must be dealt with. One is extracting primitive strokes and the other is merging or splitting the strokes using dynamic information of the strokes. In this paper, a method is proposed to extract strokes from an off-line handwritten Korean character. We have developed some stroke segmentation rules based on splitting, merging and directional analysis. Using these techniques, we can extract and trace the strokes in an off-line handwritten Korean character accurately and efficiently.
Selecting locally optimum thresholds, based on optimizing a criterion composed of the area variation rate and the compactness of the segmented shape, is presented. The method is shown to have the shape-resolving property in the subtraction image, so that overlapped objects may be resolved into bright and dark evidences characterizing each object. As an application a vehicle detection algorithm robust to the operating conditions could be realized by applying simple merging rules to the geometrically correlated bright and dark evidences obtained by this local thresholding.
