  • Korean traditional markets have been struggling of late as big-sized superstores and SSM(Super Supermarkets) are thriving in the market. They have therefore upgraded their facilities and undertaken management modernization actively to overcome the threat to traditional markets and ensure their competitiveness; however, the effect does not appear to be verifiable. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of the organizational characteristics of the traditional market merchant association on social capital and organizational performance. In other words, this paper investigates a merchant association's organizational characteristics in terms of the modernization of business activities of the traditional markets and the influence on their social capital and organizational performance. This study analyzes the traditional market by evaluating the impact of these factors. This study consists of four hypotheses: The first hypothesis relates to the causal relationship between the characteristics of a merchant association and social capital. The second and third hypotheses, respectively, relate to the causal relationships between the social capital of a merchant association and the merchant's satisfaction and that between the social capital of a merchant association and organizational commitment. The last hypothesis relates to the relationship between the organizational commitment of a merchant association and the merchant's satisfaction. This study conducts a reliability and validity analysis of the above factors and analyzes the causal relationships between them by using the PLS(Partial Least Squares) path model as one of the structural equation models. The results of the empirical analysis are summarized as follows: First, the organizational characteristics of the traditional market merchant association have a significant influence on social capital. However, only two sub-hypotheses are not significant; these insignificant hypotheses relate to the relationship between a merchant's entrepreneurship and structural capital and that between a merchant's entrepreneurship and cognitive capital. Second, the social capital of a merchant association influences organizational commitment significantly. Third, the relationship between the social capital of a merchant association and the merchant's satisfaction is mostly significant. However, one of the sub-hypotheses, that is, the relationship between relational capital and a merchant's satisfaction is not exceptionally significant. Lastly, the organizational commitment of a merchant association affect the merchant's satisfaction significantly. Through our extensive study, this paper found that a merchant association's organizational characteristics of the traditional market significantly affect social capital, organizational commitment, and satisfaction through the mediation of social capital. Therefore, in order to activate the key traditional market, an understanding of organizational characteristics and social capital is primarily required. Systematic management and investment pertaining to these two factors will be the first consideration for revitalizing traditional markets.

  • The research aims to help merchant acquiring institutions gain a better insight on what merchant establishments in the Singapore market perceive of the costs they incur due to credit card acceptance. The research attempts to study the Singapore market and establish if increased credit card usage does increase costs for the merchant establishments that accept credit cards, this will help to acquire institutions in Singapore have a better understanding of merchant perceptions and what drives or deters credit card acceptance in the Singapore market. The survey was based on an interview of merchant establishments and the views of the merchants and was not based on their financial data. As a first step, the variables used in the survey were tested for interdependence using Chi-square tests; subsequently data reduction using factor analysis was performed and finally linear regression to establish a relation between dependent and independent variables. Merchant establishment believe accepting credit cards and increasing volume is costlier compared to another form of payment, but have mixed awareness about interchange fee. It also indicated that interchange fee and cardholder benefits are independent of the merchant establishments. The study only broadly attempts to gauge merchants view if increased credit card usage has increased costs for them.

  • Fingerprinting schemes are techniques applied to protect the copyright on digital goods. These enable the merchants to identify the source of illegal redistribution. Let us assume the following situations connectedly happen: As a beginning, buyer who bought digital goods illegally distributed it, next the merchant who found it revealed identity of the buyer/traitor, then the goods is illegally distributed again. After this, we describe it as“The second illegal redistribution”. In most of anonymous fingerprinting, upon finding a redistributed copy, a merchant extracts the buyer's secret information from the copy and identifies a traitor using it. Thus the merchant can know the traitor's secret information (digital fingerprints) after identification step. The problem of the second illegal distribution is that there is a possibility of the merchant's fraud and the buyer's abuse: that is a dishonest employee of the merchant might just as well have redistributed the copy as by the buyer, or the merchant as such may want to gain money by wrongly claiming that the buyer illegally distributed it once more. The buyer also can illegally redistribute the copy again. Thus if the copy turns up, one cannot really assign responsibility to one of them. In this paper, we suggest solution of this problem using two-level fingerprinting. As a result, our scheme protects the buyer and the merchant under any conditions in sense that (1) the merchant can obtain means to prove to a third party that the buyer redistributed the copy. (2) the buyer cannot worry about being branded with infamy as a traitor again later if he never distribute it.

  • In the recommendation system of the credit card company, it is necessary to understand the customer patterns to predict a customer's next merchant based on their histories. The data we want to model is much more complex and there are various patterns that customers choose. In such a situation, it is necessary to use an effective model that not only shows the relevance of the merchants, but also the relevance of the customers relative to these merchants. The proposed model aims to predict the next merchant for the customer. To improve prediction performance, we propose a novel model, called Customer-based Recommendation Model (CRM), to produce a more efficient representation of customers. For the next merchant recommendation system, we use a synthetic credit card usage dataset, BC'17. To demonstrate the applicability of the proposed model, we also apply it to the next item recommendation with another real-world transaction dataset, IJCAI'16.

  • This study aimed to found out the effect of patellofemoral overlap distance by changing femur thickness and center X-ray angles in Merchant method images. Based on the femur thickness, it suggested tube angle minimizes overlap. It was conducted by Merchant method, a knee tangential view, and the image was obtained by changing the thigh thickness from 14 to 20 cm and the center ray angle from 60°, 57°, 55°. The images were measured by five researchers using a method of measuring the overlap, which was designed by them. The results showed at 60°, 57°, 55° angle, the patellofemoral overlap distance resulted in 0.47±0.66 to 20.89±0.65 cm, 2.26±0.28 to 15.73±0.62 cm, 1.39 ± 0.83 to 12.49 ± 0.37 cm. However, for 57° and 55°, no overlap in thickness under 14.5 and 14 to 15.5 didn't appear. it showed high correlation between femur thickness and overlap. The difference in the mean value of overlap in each group showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.01), all were classified as independent groups in the post-hoc test. In all images, the patellofemoral overlap distance increased as the thickness increased, and at the average thickness of Korean men and women, overlap decreased when reducing center ray. When conducting Merchant tests on Koreans, it was suggested it would be useful to use 57° angle because it minimize the effects of overlap and intrusions of tibia.

  • The six fabliaux of the Canterbury Tales are a notable artistic achievement. Of all of them, however, the Merchant's Tale is the most notable to show Chaucer's development of the scope of this genre. We will look briefly at the characters of the fabliau narrators who are crucial to Chaucer's drama of relationships in the course of the Canterbury pilgrimage framework. To distinguish the accomplishment of the Merchant's Tale, we will consider the relative merits of each of the other five fabliaux in the Canterbury Tales. The least flawed of the fabliau narrators, the Merchant will tell a powerful tale about an old man's lust turned into a hasty marriage gone wrong that aims its satire at the noble ruling class of the land, not the usual targets of Chaucer's or most other writers' fabliaux. Further, unlike the light-hearted and dismissable endings of the other Chaucerian fabliaux, the Merchant's Tale has what we will call an Act 6 of continued deception at all corners of the love triangle represented by the senex amans January, his young wife May, perhaps now pregnant after her tryst with Damyan in the pear tree, and the still present young lover Damyan. This triangle of mutual deception will continue into the unknown future under the male and female forces at odds as personified in the king and queen of fairies, Pluto and Proserpina.

  • The representative study of Patellofemoral Joint Merchant method can show the view for inspection of the sulcus angle, congruence angle and diagnose whether there are the vertical fractures and recognize the degree of dislocation and patella subluxation. However, anatomical correlation about the degree of knee joint curvature changes during position adjustment and distortion of the image reduces reproducibility. In order to resolve these problems, Merchant method needs to use assisting device which reduces the occurrence of repeat projection and effectively to increase unification of examination and the consistency of the image. However, there are disadvantages for patients who take other examinations. For example, they have to change the position for every examination and it might cause the patient's discomfort and increase of examination time. In this study, we newly devised commercial assisting device which improves the reproducibility of the images and reduces inconvenience of patients movement. Further research should be taken to obtain a image without patient's movement and to reduce the time of the examination than existing method.
