A micro-sensor network is comprised of a large number of small sensors with limited memory capacity. Current key-establishment schemes for symmetric encryption require too much memory for micro-sensor networks on a large scale. In this paper, we propose a memory-efficient hypercube key establishment scheme that only requires logarithmic memory overhead.

For highly scalable NAND flash memory applications, a compact ($4F^2/cell$) nonvolatile memory architecture is proposed and investigated via three-dimensional device simulations. The back-channel program/erase is conducted independently from the front-channel read operation as information is stored in the form of charge at the backside of the channel, and hence, read disturbance is avoided. The memory cell structure is essentially equivalent to that of the fully-depleted transistor, which allows a high cell read current and a steep subthreshold slope, to enable lower voltage operation in comparison with conventional NAND flash devices. To minimize memory cell disturbance during programming, a charge depletion method using appropriate biasing of a buried back-gate line that runs parallel to the bit line is introduced. This design is a new candidate for scaling NAND flash memory to sub-20 nm lateral dimensions.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify factors associated with subjective memory impairment in patients with diabetes mellitus in a metropolitan city. Methods: The subjects of this study were 351 patients with diabetes mellitus aged 50 and over from five districts of Gwangju who participated in the 2018 Community Health Survey. We analyzed general characteristics, health-related behaviors and health related conditions and subjective experience of memory impairment. To find factors associated with subjective memory impairment, the chi-square test and multiple logistic regression analysis were used. Results: Of all subjects, 31.3% was reported subjective experience of memory impairment. The odds ratios (ORs; 95% confidence interval (CI)) for subjective memory impairment according to age were statistically significant at 1.9 (0.9-4.3) in patients in 60s and 2.2 (1.1-4.7) in patients in beyond 70s compared to those in 50s. The OR (95% CI) of ex-smoker compared to the non-smoker was 0.3 (0.8-0.9). The OR (95% CI) of depressive symptom compared to no depressive symptoms was 4.9 (95% CI: 1.8-13.7). Conclusion: In this study, subjective memory impairment in patients with diabets mellitus was associated with age, smoking, and depressive symptoms. Based on the results of this study, subjective memory impairment should be detected early through periodic cognitive function evaluation for elderly patients with diabetes mellitus, and a program for healthy cognitive function should be included in diabetes management program.
This study evaluated the interest of parents of elementary school children on the examination with their memory of results, their consistency and their compliance with results sheets to improve effects of School dental health management project. This study recruited 1,334 second-, third-, fifth- and sixth-grade students at two elementary schools located in Daegu metropolitan city performing School Dental Examination Project in 2008 and investigated whether the students visited dental hospitals following results of the examination, how the parents remembered the results and how their memory was same with real results based on results of the examination, the parents' memory of results. The parents of second- and third-grade students showed good memory of malocclusion and number of Caries and higher consistency for dental caries. The parents of fifth- and sixth-grade students showed good memory of dental caries. Visiting rates of dental hospitals accordance with grade were 75.7% due to dental caries in second- and third-grade students and 60.5% due to malocclusion in fifth- and sixth-grade students. Among students with abnormal results of the examination, 77.1% of the children with dental caries of parents having same memory with real results visited the hospitals while 52.7% of those of parents having different memory with them did.
Since the communication networks like the Internet collapses at disaster and calamity sites, a maintenance system that can be operated offline is required for the maintenance of various facilities. In this paper, we propose a system that memory tags attached on the facilities may transmit the emergency manual to a smart-phone, and the smart phone displays it off-line. The main issue is to design low energy mode memory tags. This study presents two kinds of methods and analyzes each's energy consumption mode. The first one is to develop memory tags by using one chip, and the next one is to design memory tags by forming multi-modules. Both ways show proper application fields under the low energy mode. This research selects the off-line maintenance system by using one chip design, and proposes the direction of contents for enhancing the effectiveness of the system. And we expect that this memory tags will be valuable for disaster scenes as well as battle fields.
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in healthy individuals is usually asymptomatic and results in latent infection. CMV reactivation occasionally occurs in healthy individuals according to their immune status over time. T cell responses to CMV are restricted to a limited number of immunodominant epitopes, as compared to responses to other chronic or persistent viruses. This response results in progressive, prolonged expansion of CMV-specific $CD8^+$ T cells, termed 'memory inflation'. The expanded CMV-specific $CD8^+$ T cell population is extraordinarily large and is more prominent in the elderly. CMV-specific $CD8^+$ T cells possess rather similar phenotypic and functional features to those of replicative senescent T cells. In this review, we discuss the general features of CMV-specific inflationary memory T cells and the factors involved in memory inflation.

Although there are many efficient techniques to minimize the speed gap between processor and the memory, it remains a bottleneck for various commercial implementations. Since secondary memory technologies are much slower than main memory, it is challenging to match memory speed to the processor. Usually, hard disk drives include semiconductor caches to improve their performance. A hit in the disk cache eliminates the mechanical seek time and rotational latency. To further improve performance a divided disk cache, subdivided between metadata and data, has been proposed previously. We propose a new algorithm to apply the SSD that is flash memory-based solid state drive by applying FTL. First, this paper evaluates the performance of such a disk cache via simulations using DiskSim. Then, we perform an experiment to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm.
This study investigated how family capital was associated with the working memory of young school-aged children from immigrant families in the United States using the New Immigrant Survey. Family capital was identified as economic, human, cultural, and social capital, and children's working memory was measured by the Digit Span scores. Poisson regression analysis was used for examining the sample of 428 children from the New Immigrant Survey. Results indicated that cultural capital within the home was positively associated with the working memory of young school-aged children whereas economic, human, and social capital was not. Implications and limitations of the study are also discussed.

The demand for flexible devices including solar cells, memories and batteries has increased rapidly over the past decades. In most flexible devices, polymer-based materials are used to enable the mechanical deformations such as bending or folding. Shape Memory Polymers (SMPs) is a high molecular compound polymer with flexibility and shape recovery characteristics. In this work, flexible shape memory device was fabricated by simply coating the conducting material, carbon nano-tube (CNT), on a shape memory polymer. Furthermore, durability of the device under various type of mechanical deformations was assessed. It is believed that the result of this work will aid in realization of a stretchable and wearable electronic device for practical applications.

The composite used in this paper was prepared by hot-pressing ball-milled Mg alloy powders, in which NiTi shape memory alloy fibers in a row were sandwiched. The microstructure and property were examined. It is shown that the composite consisted of a homogenous matrix with uniformly distributed NiTi shape memory alloy fibers, recrystallization took place in the Mg alloy matrix which was subjected to plastic deformation an adequate bonding formed between the matrix and fibers; the density and tensile strength of the composite increased after the hot-forging; the hot-forging process is capable of improving properties of the composite.
