Spot-GTA 용접자세에 따른 304 스테인리스강 용융지 표면 및 용접부 형상 거동 (Behavior of Weld Pool Shape and Weld Surface Deformation as a Function of Spot-GTA Welding Position for 304 Stainless Steel)

  • Effects of gravitational orientation on gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) for 304 stainless steel were studied to determine the critical factors for weld pool formation, such as weld surface deformation and weld pool shape. This study was accomplished through an analytical study of weld pool stability as a function of primary welding parameters (arc current and arc holding time), material properties (surface tension and density), and melting efficiency (cross-sectional area). The stability of weld pool shape and weld surface deformation was confirmed experimentally by changing the welding position. The arc current and translational velocity were the major factors in determining the weld pool stability as a function of the gravitational orientation. A 200A spot GTAW showed a significant variation of the weld pool formation as the arc held longer than 3 seconds, however the weld pool shape and surface morphology for a 165A spot GTAW were 'stable', i.e., constant regardless of the gravitational orientation. The cross-sectional area of the weld (CSA) was one of the critical factors in determining the weld pool stability. The measured CSA ($13.5mm^2$) for the 200A spot GTAW showed a good agreement with the calculated CSA ($14.9mm^2$).

혼합용매에 대한 니페디핀의 용해도와 반용매 결정화 (Solubility of Nifedipine in Mixed Solvents and Antisolvent Crystallization)

  • 본 연구에서는 제약성분인 니페디핀이 세 종류의 혼합용매에 녹는 용해도를 측정하였다. 또한 용매(아세톤, DMF, 메틸렌클로라이드)에 녹아 있는 니페디핀을 반용매(물, 헥산, 이산화탄소)를 사용하여 결정화하였고, 생성된 결정입자의 외형, 크기, 용융점 등을 측정하였다. 혼합용매로는 아세톤+물, DMF+물, 메틸렌클로라이드+헥산 혼합물이 사용되었으며, 세 혼합용매에서 모두 반용매의 비율이 증가할수록 니페디핀의 용해도가 감소하였다. 아세톤+물의 경우에는 이 혼합물의 밀도 비이상성 현상에 기인한 용해도 최대값을 나타낸 반면, 나머지 두 혼합용매에서는 이 현상이 나타나지 않았다. 반용매 결정화에 의해 생성된 니페디핀 결정의 외형은 용매와 반용매의 종류에 따라 칼날형, 입자형, 프리즘형 등으로 변화하였으며, 입자의 크기는 원재료에 비해 매우 감소하였다. 니페디핀 원재료 입자의 평균크기는 33 ㎛였으며, 결정화된 입자의 평균크기는 11.6~69.8 ㎛의 범위에 있었다. 결정화된 모든 니페디핀 입자는 동일한 열분석 결과를 보여주었으며, 이 결과는 용매와 반용매의 변화에 의해 영향 받지 않았다.

석탄바닥재로 제조된 결정화 유리의 물리적 특성에 미치는 Li2O 첨가 영향 (Influence of Li2O Addition on Physical Properties of Glass-Ceramics Fabricated Using a Coal Bottom Ash)

  • Glass-ceramics were fabricated by heat-treatment of glass obtained by melting a coal bottom ash with $Li_2O$ addition. The main crystal grown in the glass-ceramics, containing 10 wt% $Li_2O$, was $\beta$-spodumene solid solution, while in $Li_2O$ 20 wt% specimen was mullite, identified using XRD. The activation energy and Avrami constant for crystallization were calculated and showed that bulk crystallization behavior will be predominant, and this expectation agreed with the microstructural observations. The crystal phase grown in $Li_2O$ 10 wt% glass-ceramics had a dendrite-like shaped whereas the shape was flake-like in the 20 wt% case. The thermal expansion coefficient of the $Li_2O$ 10 wt% glass-ceramics was lower than that of the glass having the same composition, owing to the formation of a $\beta$-spodumene phase. For example, the thermal expansion coefficient of $Li_2O$ 10 wt% glass-ceramics was $20\times10^{-7}$, which is enough for application in various heat-resistance fields. But above 20 wt% $Li_2O$, the thermal coefficient expansion of glass-ceramics, on the contrary, was higher than that of the same composition glass, due to formation of mullite.

INTERACTION STUDIES OF CERAMIC VACUUM PLASMA SPRAYING FOR THE MELTING CRUCIBLE MATERIALS

  • Candidate coating materials for re-usable metallic nuclear fuel crucibles, TaC, TiC, ZrC, $ZrO_2$, and $Y_2O_3$, were plasmasprayed onto a niobium substrate. The microstructure of the plasma-sprayed coatings and thermal cycling behavior were characterized, and U-Zr melt interaction studies were carried out. The TaC and $Y_2O_3$ coating layers had a uniform thickness, and high density with only a few small closed pores showing good consolidation, while the ZrC, TiC, and $ZrO_2$ coatings were not well consolidated with a considerable amount of porosity. Thermal cycling tests showed that the adhesion of the TiC, ZrC, and $ZrO_2$ coating layers with niobium was relatively weak compared to the TaC and $Y_2O_3$ coatings. The TaC and $Y_2O_3$ coatings had better cycling characteristics with no interconnected cracks. In the interaction studies, ZrC and $ZrO_2$ coated rods showed significant degradations after exposure to U-10 wt.% Zr melt at $1600^{\circ}C$ for 15 min., but TaC, TiC, and $Y_2O_3$ coatings showed good compatibility with U-Zr melt.

  • 주사슬에 방향족 고리와 펜타메틸렌 그룹을 포함하고 있는 반유연성 폴리에스터가 direct polycondensation 에 의하여 합성되었다. 합성된 중합체의 구조는 $^1H$-NMR과 FT-IR에 의해, 상전이거동에 대해서는 DSC, TGA 및 직교된 편광현미경에 의하여 관찰되었다. 합성된 중합체의 고유점성도 ($\eta_{inh}$)는 0.46에서 1.30 dL/g 사이의 값으로 측정되었고, 분자사슬 중 강직사슬그룹의 선형성이 클수록 용융전이온도 ($T_m$)는 높았으며, 용해도 조사에 사용된 유기용매에 대한 용해도는 감소되었다. 그리고, 중합체들 중 P-H, P-mH, P-4H는 넓은 비등방성 영역에서 열방성 네마틱 액정상을 나타내었으나 P-R, P-C, P-2B는 액정상을 나타내지 않았다.

Zr-0.2Sn-0.8Nb 합금의 부식특성에 대한 Si, Mo 및 Mn 원소의 첨가영향 (Effect of Si, Mo, and Mn on the Corrosion Characteristics of Zr-0.2Sn-0.8Nb Alloy)

  • The Zr-0.2Sn-0.8Nb-X(X = 0~200ppm Si, 0~0.4wt.% Mo and Mn respectively) ingots for test specimens were manufactured by a vacuum arc re-melting method to find out the effect of Si, Mo, and Mn on the corrosion characteristics of the Zr-0.2Sn-0.8Nb alloy. After being heat-treated and rolled repeatedly out to be flat materials, they were finally heat-treated at 51$0^{\circ}C$ for three hours and used as the specimens for corrosion tests. The corrosion behavior of the specimens was studied in both 40$0^{\circ}C$ steam for 200 days and in aqueous 70 ppm LiOH solution at 36$0^{\circ}C$ for 90 days. From the study it was found that Si from 80 to 200 ppm contributed to increasing the corrosion resistance of Zr-0.2Sn-0.8Nb alloy in both steam and LiOH solution. This study also showed that Mn from 0.1 to 0.4% caused to go up the corrosion resistance, whereas Mo played a apart in improving the corrosion resistance only between 0.05 and 0.2 wt.%.

나노구조 카본블랙/HDPE 복합재료의 전기적 특성: 전자선 조사에 의한 PTC 특성변화 (Electrical Properties of Nanostructured Carbon Black-filled HDPE Composites: Effect of Electron Beam Irradiation on PTC Characteristics)

  • 본 연구에서는 나노구조를 갖는 카본블랙이 충전된 CB/HDPE 복합재료를 용융 혼합법으로 제조한 후 온도변화에 따른 전기적 특성을 고찰하였다. 복합재료의 전기적 재현성 향상과 negative temperature coefficient (NTC) 현상의 제거를 위하여 전자선을 30-150 kGy로 조사하였으며, 조사된 복합재료의 가교함량 분석은 용매 추출법을 이용하였다. 실험결과, CB/HDPE 복합재료의 PTC 세기는 카본블랙의 함량과 입자크기에 크게 영향을 받으며. 가교함량의 급격한 증가에 따른 NTC 현상의 제거는 전자선 흡수선량이 60 kGy일 때였다. 또한 전자선 조사를 통하여 전기적 재현성이 향상되었는데, 이는 복합재료의 가교도 증가에 따른 수지의 용융온도 근처에서의 카본블랙 유동성의 감소 때문이라 사료된다.

나이론탄성체 제조와 전기방사응용 (Preparation of Nylon Elastomer and Its Application in the Electrospinning Process)

  • 음이온중합기구으로 나이론 6와 나이론공중합체를 합성하였다. 나이론탄성체는 카프록락탐과 이소시아네이트로 활성화된 폴리올을 음이온중합기구을 통해서 공중합을 하였다. 전기방사공정으로 제조된 나이론과 나이론공중합체는, FE-SEM으로 구조를 분석한 결과, 100$\sim$180 nm의 직경을 갖는 나노섬유들로 이루어진 다공성 부직포였다. DSC와 ATR FT-IR을 이용하여 결정화거동 및 구조를 분석하였다. 인장실험을 한 결과 나이론은 나이론탄성체에 비해서 인장강도는 크고, 신율은 감소된다. 결정영역인 PA블록과 무정형인 PE블록으로 된 나이론공중합체인 나이론 탄성체는 PE블록 비율이 클수록 인장강도는 낮아지고 신율은 증가된다. $O_2$$N_2$를 반응기체로 한 상압플라즈마로 전기방사된 나이론과 나이론탄성체의 부직포표면을 개질한 결과, 개질된 부직포표면은 표면개질 전보다 더 친수성을 보였으며 반면에 $CH_4$를 반응기체로 사용한 상압플라즈마로는 부직포표면을 개질하면 부직표면은 소수성을 나타내었다.

방전 플라즈마 소결에 의한 Distaloy AE-TiC 써멧의 치밀화 특성 (The Densification Properties of Distaloy AE-TiC Cermet by Spark Plasma Sintering)

  • The fabrication of Fe alloy-40 wt.%TiC composite materials using spark plasma sintering process after ball-milling was studied. Raw powders to fabricate Fe alloy-TiC composite were Fe alloy, $TiH_{2}$ and activated carbon. Fe alloy powder was Distaloy AE (4%Ni-1%Cu-0.5%Mo-0.01%C-bal.%Fe) made by Hoeganes company with better toughness and lower melting point. These powders were ball-milled in horizontal attrition ball mill at a ball-to-powder weight ratio of 30 : 1. After that, these mixture powders were sintered by using spark plasma sintering apparatus for 5 min at $1200-1275^{\circ}C$ in vacuum atmosphere under $10^{-3}$ torr. DistaloyAE-40 wt.%TiC composite was directly synthesized by dehydrogenation and carburization reaction during sintering process. The phase transformation of as-milled powders and sintered materials was confirmed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The density and harness materials was measured in order to confirm the densification behavior. In case of DistaloyAE-40 wt.%TiC composite retained for 5 min at $1275^{\circ}C$, it has the relative density of about 96% through the influence of rapid densification and fine TiC particle reinforced Fe-based composites materials.

마찰재에 함유된 금속섬유와 마찰 특성의 연관관계 (The Effect of Metal Fibers on the Tribology of Automotive Friction Materials)

  • Friction and wear properties of brake friction materials containing different metal fibers (Al, Cu or Steel fibers) were investigated. Based on a simple experimental formulation, friction materials with the same amount of metal fibers were tested using a pad-on-disk type friction tester. Two different materials (gray cast iron and aluminum metal matrix composite (MMC)) were used for disks rubbing against the friction materials. Results front ambient temperature tests revealed that the friction material containing Cu fibers sliding against gray cast iron disk showed a distinct negative $\mu$-v (friction coefficient vs. sliding velocity) relation implying possible stick-slip generation at low speeds. The negative $\mu$- v relation was not observed when the Cu-containing friction materials were rubbed against the Al-MMC counter surface. Elevated temperature tests showed that the friction level and the intensity of friction force oscillation were strongly affected by the thermal conductivity and melting temperature of metallic ingredients of the friction couple. Friction materials slid against cast iron disks exhibited higher friction coefficients than Al-MMC (metal matrix composite) disks during high temperature tests. On the other hand, high temperature test results suggested that copper fibers in the friction material improved fade resistance and that steel fibers were not compatible with Al-MMC disks showing severe material transfer and erratic friction behavior during sliding at elevated temperatures.
