VLIM(Very Long Instruction Word)의 구조를 가지고 있어 동시에 8개의 명령어 수행이 가능한 TI사의 TMS320C6201 DSP를 이용하여 3D 초음파 영상의 쉬어-웝 볼륨 렌더링을 구현하였다.

  • Demand of fluid flow visualization has increased in industrial processes, because medical imaging technology is highly developed. As a part of the industrial process imaging technology, industrial single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) system was developed to measure the cross-sectional distribution of the process fluid. The SPECT consists of 36 NaI (Tl) detectors with the hexagonal configuration. Reconstructed images were acquired for various positions of radioactive source to estimate SPECT device performance. To evaluate the reliability of the experimental results, the Monte Carlo simulation results are compared with experimental results. In general, the experimental and simulation results were consistent. However, as the source position was getting far from the center of the reactor, the accuracy of reconstructed images was compromised. It seems to be due to the inconsistent spatial resolution of the collimators according to the source position.

  • Machine learning has been applied to medical imaging and has shown an excellent recognition rate. Recently, there has been much interest in preventive medicine. If data are accessible, machine learning packages can be used easily in digital healthcare fields. However, it is necessary to prepare the data in advance, and model evaluation and tuning are required to construct a reliable model. On average, these processes take more than 80% of the total effort required. In this study, we describe the basic concepts of machine learning, pre-processing and visualization of datasets, feature engineering for reliable models, model evaluation and tuning, and the latest trends in popular machine learning frameworks. Finally, we survey a explainable machine learning analysis tool and will discuss the future direction of machine learning.

  • Although significant progress has been made in synthesizing visually realistic face images by Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), there still lacks effective approaches to provide fine-grained control over the generation process for semantic facial attribute editing. In this work, we propose a novel cross channel self-attention based generative adversarial network (CCA-GAN), which weights the importance of multiple channels of features and archives pixel-level feature alignment and conversion, to reduce the impact on irrelevant attributes while editing the target attributes. Evaluation results show that CCA-GAN outperforms state-of-the-art models on the CelebA dataset, reducing Fréchet Inception Distance (FID) and Kernel Inception Distance (KID) by 15~28% and 25~100%, respectively. Furthermore, visualization of generated samples confirms the effect of disentanglement of the proposed model.

  • With the wide spread of smart farms and the advancements in IoT technology, it is easy to obtain additional data in addition to crop images. Consequently, deep learning-based crop disease diagnosis research utilizing multimodal data has become important. This study proposes a crop disease diagnosis method using multimodal supervised contrastive learning by expanding upon the multimodal self-supervised learning. RandAugment method was used to augment crop image and time series of environment data. These augmented data passed through encoder and projection head for each modality, yielding low-dimensional features. Subsequently, the proposed multimodal supervised contrastive loss helped features from the same class get closer while pushing apart those from different classes. Following this, the pretrained model was fine-tuned for crop disease diagnosis. The visualization of t-SNE result and comparative assessments of crop disease diagnosis performance substantiate that the proposed method has superior performance than multimodal self-supervised learning.

  • Microvascular ultrasound (US) techniques are advanced Doppler techniques that provide high sensitivity and spatial resolution for detailed visualization of low-flow vessels. Microvascular US imaging can be applied to breast lesion evaluation with or without US contrast agents. Microvascular US imaging without a contrast agent uses a sophisticated wall filtering system to selectively obtain low-flow Doppler signals from overlapped artifacts. Microvascular US imaging with second-generation contrast agents amplifies flow signals and makes them last longer, which facilitates hemodynamic evaluation of breast lesions. In this review article, we will introduce various microvascular US techniques, explain their clinical applications in breast cancer diagnosis and radiologic-histopathologic correlation, and provide a summary of a recent radiogenomic study using microvascular US.

  • Purpose : Repair of the posterior capsule tear at the time of the operation for the chronic postero-lateral or postero-medial rotary instability has not been reported. We describe the arthroscopic repair of the posterior capsule tear using the posterior trans-septal portal. Method : After conducting basic arthroscopic examination of the knee, postero-medial and postero-lateral portals are secure to make the posterior trans-septal portal, through which the postero-medial and postero-lateral capsule tears are repaired using the suture hook under the arthroscopic guidance. Conclusion : When arthroscopic reconstruction of PCL insufficiency or postero-lateral rotaty instability that accompanies postero-medial or postero-lateral capsular tears. rising the posterior traits-septal portal could ensure better visualization of the capsule and a subsequent more accurate repair of the capsule. Since it significantly lessened instability, it could contribute to an achievement of successful clinical results.

  • It is very useful to perform the surgery simulation before implanting TAH(Total Artificial Heart} in a patient. The space of chest and the shape of vessels are different from patient to patient. So, It is desirable to customize a TAH design to the anatomy structure of a patient. Several studies are performed to visualize and explain the 3D structure of heart. These studies are performed using 2-dimensional ref or mated images and simple measurement. Anatomy structure of a human heart is not so simple. It is 4dimensional structure ; 3-dimensional plus time, heart beating. 3-dimensional reconstruction schemes of medical images developed for about 10 years are usually categorized into two types of rendering technique ; surface rendering and volume rendering. Volume rendering is preferable in medical image processing field because this technique can be applied without considering the complexity of geometry and change of field of interest. The usable space in the chest of patient can be measured by 3D volume matching of patient trunk and TAH model. This space changes with time. In this research we have developed the 4-dimensional volume match program of patient and TAH model. 3-dimensional rendered set of volumes along time were used to simulate TAH fitting trial. The quantitative measurement from this simulation could be applied to customize TAH design.

  • Purpose Surgery for separating craniopagus twins involves many critical issues owing to complex anatomical features. We demonstrate a 3D printed model and virtual reality (VR) technologies that could provide valuable benefits for surgical planning and simulation, which would improve the visualization and perception during craniopagus surgery. Material & Methods We printed a 3D model extracted from CT images of craniopagus patients using segmentation software developed in-house. Then, we imported the 3D model to create the VR environment using 3D simulation software (Unity, Unity Technologies, CA). We utilized the HTC Vive (HTC & Valve Corp) head-mount-display for the VR simulation. Results We obtained the 3D printed model of craniopagus patients and imported the model to a VR environment. Manipulating the model in VR was possible, and the 3D model in the VR environment enhanced the application of user-friendly 3D modeling in surgery for craniopagus twins. Conclusion The use of the 3D printed model and VR has helped understand complicated anatomical structures of craniopagus patients and has made communicating with other medical surgeons in the field much easier. Further, interacting with the 3D model is possible in VR, which enhances the understanding of the craniopagus surgery as well as the success rate of separation surgery while providing useful information on diagnosing and surgery planning.
