Analysis of direct medical control conducted to 119 emergency medical technicians in an emergency medical information center (119구급대원에게 시행한 일개 응급의료정보센터의 직접의료지도에 관한 분석)

  • Purpose : The goal of the present study is to provide the basic information to medical control which is the most important improving factor of pre-hospital medical treatment. Method : A total of 749 records of direct medical control were collected from 119 EMTs in emergency medical information center of Daejeon, Chungcheongnam-do and Chungcheongbuk-do from March 1, 2010 to February 28, 2011. Results : The 119 EMTs should record the level of qualification of EMT and general patient history taking precisely when they receive direct medical controls. The doctors should take medical controls within the task range of qualification of EMTs. Conclusion : It is necessary to establish the guideline of medical direction and protocol of prehospital emergency care. The quality improvement of pre-hospital emergency services will be possible by the guideline and protocol.

The Review on the Traditional Medicine Concepts in the UMLS (UMLS내 전통의학 용어에 대한 고찰)

  • Objective This is a previous study for including traditional Korean medical terms into the UMLS(The Unified Medical Language System) and achieving the interoperability between various medical systems. Method First, the traditional medical terms were divided into 4 categories : basic theory, acupuncture, herb and formulae. And then, searching these terms through metathesaurus in UMLSKS(UMLS Knowledge Source Server), terminology information was investigated and analyzed. Results In the case of TM title, traditional Korean medicine was categorized as different semantic type from Traditional medicine, Traditional Chinese medicine and Kampo medicine. Acupuncture points were described only as abbreviation and herbs were conceptualized inconsistently, as some belonged to scientific name and some belonged to Chinese pronunciation. Formulaes are described as Chinese, Japanese and Korean pronunciations. Conclusions More research is needed on diagnosis/disease terms and semantic types for the unique concepts in traditional Korean medicine in order to including the international standard.

  • PACS is one of the most used medical information system and share information from other hospitals through the PACS. Data integrity means zero defects data and this is a prerequisite of information system performance. but I wonder if I can trust these informations that Incorrect information from radiotechnologist's mistakes, anonymous in emergency department, Newborn baby department, modified informations at later. And Modified informations causes defect in integrity of the data. When we import, we use DICOM header not DB data. so error occurs that DB data is deferent with DICOM Header information. This paper discusses to resolve as above problem using DICOM object such as DICOM PR, SR. And propose quality management system that can guarantee the patient information and can manage exam history.

  • 최근 코로나 19에 대한 세계적인 팬데믹 선언에 의해 의료서비스의 변화가 오고 있다. 특히, 국내 법제도적으로 묶여 있던 원격 서비스에 대한 재검토가 되고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 커넥티드 라디올로지 케어 시스템은 모바일 의료영상진단기기를 기반으로 의료사각지대에 있는 환자들의 영상촬영과 이에 대한 판독 서비스를 제공하기 위한 시스템이다. 제안한 시스템은 의료환경에 적용하기 위해 환자의 개인정보 보호를 위한 방법과 절차가 반드시 포함되어야 한다. 이를 위해 전체 시스템 구조와 익명화 처리과정을 보인다. 그리고 끝으로 구축된 시스템의 수행과정을 보인다.

Analysis of Abdominal Trauma Patients Using National Emergency Department Information System

  • Purpose: To develop an inclusive and sustainable trauma system as the assessment of burden of injuries is very much important. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the estimates and characteristics of abdominal traumatic injuries. Methods: The data were extracted from the National Emergency Department Information System. Based on Korean Standard Classification for Disease 6th version, which is the Korean version of International Classification of Disease 10th revision, abdominal injuries were identified and abdominal surgeries were evaluated with electronic data interchange codes. Demographic factors, numbers of surgeries and clinical outcomes were also investigated. Results: From 2011 to 2014, about 24,696 patients with abdominal trauma were admitted to the hospitals annually in South Korea. The number of patients who were admitted to regional and local emergency medical centers was 8,622 (34.91%) and 15,564(63.02%), respectively. Based on National Emergency Department Information System, liver was identified as the most commonly injured abdominal solid organ (39.50%, 9,754/24,696, followed by spleen (17.57%, 4,338/24,696) and kidney (12.94%, 3,195/24,696). Conclusion: This study shows that the demand for abdominal trauma care is considerable in South Korea and most of the patients with abdominal trauma were admitted to regional or local emergency centers. The results of this study can be used as good source of information for staffs to ensure proper delivery of abdominal trauma care in trauma centers nationally.

  • A controlled medical vocabulary is a vital component of medical information management because it enables computers to use information meaningfully and different institutions to share the medical data. There are currently many standard medical vocabularies - SNOMED-CT, ICD-10, UMLS, GALEN, MED, etc, but none is universally accepted as an optimal controlled medical vocabulary for application to medical information system. Moreover, it is difficult to settle the well-designed local data dictionary consisting of controlled medical vocabularies for the individual hospital information system (HIS). One of the major reasons is the local terminology with poor contents have been used in the hospital. Thus, as a trial, the local controlled vocabulary referencing system has being constructed in a limited medical field - nuclear medicine. We selected practical nuclear medicine terms from interpretation reports and electronic medical records, and removed ambiguity and redundancy, mapping the selected terms to standard medical vocabularies. Relationship and hierarchy structure between terms have being made, referring to standard medical vocabularies. Further studies may be warranted.

  • 본 논문에서는 원광대학교병원 의료정보시스템의 임상데이터를 OHDSI 가 제안하는 공통데이터 모델로 변환하여 표준화 시스템 구축에 대해서 기술한다. 또한, 검색속도 향상을 위해 인덱싱 기법을 적용한 성능평가 결과를 보인다. 구축된 표준화 시스템은 다양한 임상연구에 활용될 것을 기대하고 있다.

  • This study examines portable Gas Chromatography (GC) for the quantitative analysis of oxygen and impurities, focusing on the development and validation of a method to determine oxygen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrogen in medical compressed oxygen gas. The goal is to ensure the quality of medicalgrade oxygen. The method's validation assessed its metrological characteristics, demonstrating specificity through clear chromatographic separation of the target gases and the absence of these peaks in the carrier gas chromatogram. It exhibited linearity within the designated concentration ranges, while precision met permissible standards, with the relative standard deviation for intermediate precision being less than 4% for carbon monoxide (0.00025 - 0.00099 %), less than 3 % for methane (0.0005 - 0.00246%) and carbon dioxide (0.0050 - 0.0150 %), less than 2% for nitrogen (0.1 - 0.7 %), and less than 0.01% for oxygen (99.27 - 99.98%). Overall, the validation results confirm the suitability of this analytical method for the quantitative determination of the aforementioned gases in medical compressed oxygen using portable GC with microchromatographic columns and detectors.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect on satisfaction after education of cardiovascular pulmonary resuscitation(CPR) in Daejon Emergency Medical information Center in Korea. The major instruments of this study were Korean Self-Analysis Student Opinionnaire. Questionnaire contains 12 items which measure student's satisfaction or attitude factor. To take the analysis of data, the total of 308 students were investigated in Medical Information Center in Dae-jon Metropolitan City from 2004. 2. September to 2004. 16. September. The data were analyzed by the path analysis SPSS program. The result are as follows: 1. After education of CPR, there was significant satisfaction of CPR knowledge P=0.0011). 2. After education of CPR, there was significant satisfaction of CPR skill(P=0.00001).
