With recent rapid development of computer capabilities, various technologies that can facilitate the interaction between humans and computers are being studied. The paradigm tends to change to NUI using the body such as 3D motion, haptics, and multi-touch with GUI using traditional input devices. Various studies have been conducted on transferring human movements to computers using sensors. In addition to the development of optical sensors that can acquire 3D objects, the range of applications in the industrial, medical, and user interface fields has been expanded. In this paper, I provide a model that can execute other programs through gestures instead of the mouse, which is the default input device, and control Windows based on the lip motion. To propose a model which converges with an Android application and can be controlled by various media and voice instruction functions using voice recognition and buttons through connection with a main client. It is expected that Internet media such as video and music can be controlled not only by a client computer but also by an application at a long distance and that convenient media viewing can be performed through the proposal model.
Purpose: Sequence control is widely used by being applied to manufacturing, distribution, construction, and automation in the medical industry. With the development of the fourth industry, artificial intelligence convergence technology in the control field is becoming an important factor in the industry. In particular, it is required to evaluate the safety and innovation of facilities where microprocessors and artificial intelligence are fused to existing systems and develop reliable equipment, so it is intended to develop equipment for educational purposes and drive the development of the field. Method: The self-developed all-in-one artificial intelligence controller module is a device that combines artificial intelligence capabilities with existing sequence and PLC control circuits. As the performance evaluation items of this equipment, the recognition ability of motion, voice, text, color, etc. and the stability and reliability of the circuit were evaluated. Conclusion: After designing the sequence and PLC circuit, the performance evaluation items of the integrated integrated artificial intelligence controller module were all satisfied, and there was no problem in the safety and reliability of the circuit.
The bio-Sensors, which are sensing the vital signs of human bodies, are largely used by the medical equipment. Recently, the sensor network technology, which composes of the sensor interface for small-seize hardware, processor, the wireless communication module and battery in small sized hardware, has been extended to the area of bio-senor network systems due to the advances of the MEMS technology. In this paper we have suggested a design and implementation of a health care information system(called u-EMS) using a bio-sensor network technology that is a combination of the bio-sensor and the sensor network technology. In proposed system, we have used the following vital body sensors such as EKG sensor, the blood pressure sensor, the heart rate sensor, the pulse oximeter sensor and the glucose sensor. We have collected various vital sign data through the sensor network module and processed the data to implement a health care measurement system. Such measured data can be displayed by the wireless terminal(PDA, Cell phone) and the digital-frame display device. Finally, we have conducted a series of tests which considered both patient's vital sign and context-awared information in order to improve the effectiveness of the u-EMS.
As a microimaging device detecting gamma rays emitted from small lesions or tumors during operation, the intraoperative surgical probe has been proposed and is now under development. We have designed a multipurpose portable gamma prove system and evaluated the performance both for the absolute counting purpose of residual radioactivities and for the localizing capability of gamma events using the NaI(Tl) crystal and two types of photomultiplier tubes(PMTs). Counting efficiencies in the range of routine clinical use of radiation dose were measured using the assembly of single channel PMTs and 0.5 inch thick NaI(Tl) crystal of 1 inch diameter. The positioning of gamma events for imaging purpose requires the multiple channel PMTs with appropriate positioning electronics. We have designed a simple and reliable positioning circuit based on the concept of modified Anger. In preliminary experiments using the multiple channel PMT of 3 inch diameter and the dim lighth source, we were able to trace and localize the correct position with reduced positioning error by the use of two multiplier/divider chipset and simplified peripherals. The energy resolutions for the counting gamma probe measured as full width at half maximum(FWHM) for Cs-137, F-18, Tc-99m were 12%, 13%, and 36%, respectively. The spatial resolution for the imaging gamma probe measured as FWHM for green LED was 2.9 mm. The results indicate that the currently developing probe is very promising and could be very useful for many applications in nuclear medicine. Future studies will include developing collimators, improving interface hardwares, and evaluating the system with clinical data.
Advances in brain science have made it possible to stimulate the brain to treat brain disorder or to connect directly between the neuron activity and an external devices. Non-invasive neurotechnologies already exist, but invasive neurotechnologies can provide more precise stimulation or measure brainwaves more precisely. Nowadays deep brain stimulation (DBS) is recognized as an accepted treatment for Parkinson's disease and essential tremor. In addition DBS has shown a certain positive effect in patients with Alzheimer's disease and depression. Brain-computer interfaces (BCI) are in the clinical stage but help patients in vegetative state can communicate or support rehabilitation for nerve-damaged people. The issue is that the people who need these invasive neurotechnologies are those whose capacity to consent is impaired or who are unable to communicate due to disease or nerve damage, while DBS and BCI operations are highly invasive and require informed consent of patients. Especially in areas where neurotechnology is still in clinical trials, the risks are greater and the benefits are uncertain, so more explanation should be provided to let patients make an informed decision. If the patient is under guardianship, the guardian is able to substitute for the patient's consent, if necessary with the authorization of court. If the patient is not under guardianship and the patient's capacity to consent is impaired or he is unable to express the consent, korean healthcare institution tend to rely on the patient's near relative guardian(de facto guardian) to give consent. But the concept of a de facto guardian is not provided by our civil law system. In the long run, it would be more appropriate to provide that a patient's spouse or next of kin may be authorized to give consent for the patient, if he or she is neither under guardianship nor appointed enduring power of attorney. If the patient was not properly informed of the risks involved in the neurosurgery, he or she may be entitled to compensation of intangible damages. If there is a causal relation between the malpractice and the side effects, the patient may also be able to recover damages for those side effects. In addition, both BCI and DBS involve the implantation of electrodes or microchips in the brain, which are controlled by an external devices. Since implantable medical devices are subject to product liability laws, the patient may be able to sue the manufacturer for damages if the defect caused the adverse effects. Recently, Korea's medical device regulation mandated liability insurance system for implantable medical devices to strengthen consumer protection.
We propose a new training system for the improvement of equilibrium sense using unstable platform. This system consists of unstable platform, computer interface and various softwares. The unstable platform was a simple structure of elliptical-type which included tilt sensor and wireless RF module. To evaluate the effort of balance training, we measured the parameters such as the moving time to the target and duration to maintain cursor in the target of screen. Balance training was carried out for two weeks and we classified the subjects into two groups by the training program. As a result, the moving time was reduced and duration time was lengthened through the repeating training of equilibrium sense using training program of sine curve trace(SCT) and Block game. Especially, there was remarkable improvement at direction which was too difficult for the subjects to balance their body. It was showed that this system had an effort on improving equilibrium sense and might be applied to clinical use as an effective balance training system.
The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure.
