  • Although many studies have been carried out on the pattern of behavior of drivers which result from the provision of traffic information, there have been few detailed studies on the composition of message, method for message expression, timing of provision, point of provision, media for provision, changes by traffic condition, etc. This study was intended to provide an insight into the changes in the characteristics related to the provision of information by analyzing how the patterns of information utilization change depending on the traffic condition and reclassifying such patterns according to the characteristics of media. Unlike the existing studies, this study adopted the traffic condition, using rate of information media, and the correlation coefficient label as the basis for information media classification, and categorized them into passive utilization media, active utilization media, and past experience in order to ensure the statistical reasonability. The categorized using rate of information media and traffic condition was found to have a positive(+) correlation with the travel speed in the case of passive utilization media during both consecutive holidays(Korea's traditional Thanksgiving day) and weekends, but had a negative(-) correlation with the positive utilization media and past experience. The rate of decision to take a detour based on the past experience was high at the condition of congestion or slow during both consecutive holidays and weekends, but the rate of decision to take a detour through passive utilization media was high in a smooth traffic. In other words, if the traffic condition worsens, using rate of passive utilization media would be low while the diversion rate would be high which uses the active utilization media and past experience. Therefore, it should be established to suit the traffic condition and media characteristics for strategies of traffic distribution through drivers' diversion behavior on weekends and consecutive holidays.

  • The distribution ratio of hydrogen cupferrate in $H_2O-CHCl_3$ system was considered as a function of pH ($HClO_4$), ionic strength ($NaClO_4$), and cupferron concentration in perchloric acid media, respectively. The values were independent upon pH (1.50∼3.00 range) and ionic strength (0.1∼2.00 range), but they increased as increasing the cupferron concentration in the acidic media. At the infinite dilution, the thermodynamic distribution ratio between chloroform and aqueous phase was 120. 0. The activity coefficients of hydrogen cupferrate in chloroform solution were determined by the distribution ratio. This activity coefficient may be calculated by using the empirical equation, $-log\;f_{CHCl3}=0.1285C_{CHCl3}+{7.775C^2}_{CHCl3}$ which represents the experimental data quite well for the solution in 0.1 mole/l order of hydrogen cupferrate concentration.

  • When continuous media are transmitted over the communication networks, asynchrony which can not maintain temporal relationships among packets my occur due to a random transit delay. There exist two types of synchronization schemes ; for guaranteed or non-guaranteed resource networks. The former which applies a resource reservation technique maintains delay characteristics however, the latter supply a best-effort service. In this paper, I propose a intra-media synchronization scheme to transmit continuous media on general networks not guaranteeing a bounded delay time. The scheme controls transmission times of the packets by estimating next delay time with the delay distribution So, the arriving packets my be maintained within a limited delay boundary, and playout will be performed after buffering to smoothen small delay variations. To prevent network congestion and maintain minimum quality of service the transmitter performs media scaling-down by dropping the current packet when informed excessive delay from the receiver.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore the pattern of user response and it's duration time through social media content response analysis. We also analyze the characteristics of content quality factors which are associate with the user response pattern. The analysis results will provide some implications to develop strategies and schematic plans for the operator of regional marketing on the SNS. Design/methodology/approach This study used mixed methods to verify the effects and responses of social media contents on the users who have concerns about regional events such as local festival, cultural events, and city tours etc. Big data analysis was conducted with the quantitative data from regional government SNSs. The data was collected through web crawling in order to analyze the social media contents. We especially analyzed the contents duration time and peak level time. This study also analyzed the characteristics of contents quality factors using expert evaluation data on the social media contents. Finally, we verify the relationship between the contents quality factors and user response types by cross correlation analysis. Findings According to the big data analysis, we could find some content life cycle which can be explained through empirical distribution with peak time pattern and left skewed long tail. The user response patterns are dependent on time and contents quality. In addition, this study confirms that the level of quality of social media content is closely relate to user interaction and response pattern. As a result of the contents response pattern analysis, it is necessary to develop high quality contents design strategy and content posting and propagation tactics. The SNS operators need to develop high quality contents using rich-media technology and active response contents that induce opinion leader on the SNS.

  • This study investigated the contaminant loading and characteristics of particle size distributions(PSDs) in the rainfall runoff from two different sources, the pavement road and the ancillary parking lot, and then evaluated four different types of filter media(i.e., EPP, EPS, Zeolite, and Perlite) to treat runoff water. The results showed that runoff from the pavement road contains 5.6 and 20 times higher SS and Pb concentrations, respectively, than that from the parking lot. The particles smaller than $100{\mu}m$ occupied 89.8 % of runoff from the pavement road and 81.4 % of that from the parking lot by volume. The effect of the hydraulic loading, at 950 m/day filtering linar velocity and 40 cm head loss, was largest for Zeolite, followed by Perlite, EPS, and EPP. The return period of tested media calculated by the regression equation for head loss indicated that EPP has the longest life time. The average SS removal rate was similar for all media at between 84.9 % and 89 %, while the effect of various filter column heights was different, showing minimal for EPP and maximum for EPS. All filter media tested demonstrated over 95 % of SS treatment efficiency for the particles bigger than $100{\mu}m$, while for the ones smaller than $100{\mu}m$ the efficiency was in order of EPP(82.4%) > Perlite(76.1 %) > EPS(66.2 %) > Zeolite(65.2 %). The results in conclusion implies that EPP is most effective filter media for the highly contaminated fine particles from road runoff.

  • In this paper, a motor gearbox fault-detection system based on a hierarchical flow-based model is proposed. The proposed system is used for the anomaly detection of a motion sound-based actuator module. The proposed flow-based model, which is a generative model, learns by directly modeling a data distribution function. As the objective function is the maximum likelihood value of the input data, the training is stable and simple to use for anomaly detection. The operation sound of a car's side-view mirror motor is converted into a Mel-spectrogram image, consisting of a folding signal and an unfolding signal, and used as training data in this experiment. The proposed system is composed of an encoder and a decoder. The data extracted from the layer of the pretrained feature extractor are used as the decoder input data in the encoder. This information is used in the decoder by performing an interlayer cross-scale convolution operation. The experimental results indicate that the context information of various dimensions extracted from the interlayer hierarchical data improves the defect detection accuracy. This paper is notable because it uses acoustic data and a normalizing flow model to detect outliers based on the features of experimental data.

  • In this study, waste air containing ethanol and hydrogen sulfide, was treated by an integrated hybrid system composed of two alternatively-operating UV/photocatalytic reactor-process and biofilter processes of a biofilter system having two units with an improved design (R reactor) and a conventional biofilter (L reactor). Both a pressure drop (△p) per unit process of the integrated hybrid system and a microbe-population-distribution of each biofilter process were observed. The △p of the UV/photocatalytic reactor process turned out very negligible. The △p of the L reactor was observed to increase continuously to 4.0~5.0 mmH2O (i.e., 5.0~6.25 mmH2O/m). In case of R reactor, its △p showed the one below ca. 16~20% of the △p of the L reactor. Adopting such microbes-carrying biofilter media with high porosity as waste-tire crumb media, and the improved biofilter design, contributed to △p of this study, reduced by ca. 37~50% and 40~53%, respectively, from the reported △p of conventional biofilter packed with biofilter media of the mixture (50:50) of wood chip and wood bark. In addition, the △p of R reactor in this study, reduced by ca. 80% from the reported △p of conventional biofilter packed with biofilter media of the mixture (75:25) of scoria with high porosity and compost, was mainly attributed to adopting the improved biofilter design. On the other hand, in case of L reactor, the CFU counts in its lowest column was analyzed double as much as those in any other columns. However, in case of R reactor, its CFU counts were bigger by 50% than the one of L reactor and its microbes were evenly distributed at its higher and lower columns of Rdn reactor and Rup reactor. This phenomena was attributed to an even moisture distribution of 50~55% of R reactor at its higher and lower columns. Therefore, R reactor showed superb characteristics in terms of both △p and microbe-population-distribution, compared to L reactor.
