In this paper, we analyze mathematically the performance of the gated service scheduling in the Interleaved Polling with Adaptive Cycle Time(IPACT) was proposed to control upstream traffic for Gigabit Ethernet-PONs. In the analysis, we model EPON MAC protocol as a polling system and use mean value analysis. We divide arrival rate λ into three regions and analyze each region accordingly In the first region in which λ value is very small, there are very few ONUs' data to be transmitted. In the second region in which λ has reasonably large value, ONUs have enough data for continuous transmission. In the third region, ONUs' buffers are always saturated with data since λ value is very large. We obtain average packet delay, average Queue size, average cycle time of the gated service. We compare analysis results with simulation to verify the accuracy of the mathematical analysis. Simulation requires much time and effort to evaluate the performance of EPONs. On the other hand, mathematical analysis can be widely used in the design of EPON systems because system designers can obtain various performance results rapidly. We can design appropriate EPON systems for varioustraffic property by adjusting control parameters.
This study was conducted to examine community residents' knowledge level and related factor on electronic wave in order to provide basic data for development of education and publicity program. 2,000 people, who lived in five big cities and five small and medium cities, were selected ad subjects of this study. The data were collected from May 1, 200 I to August 31, 2001. The results of this study are as follows. According to the average knowledge level of harmful affect of electronic wave on health in general characteristics, female was higher(37.40 ± 5.24 points) than male; ‘forties’ was highest(37.77 ± 5.69 points); ‘married spouse’ was high(36.84 ± 5.59 points); ‘living in small-ta-medium city’ was high(36.84 ± 5.32 points). ‘university graduate’ was highest(37.41 ± 5.32 points) in education level, ‘middle class’ was high(36.61 ± 4.96 points) in economic status, ‘professional technician’ was higher(36.68 ± 6.55 points) than other occupations in occupational type. According to the knowledge level of harmful affect of electronic wave on health in health condition by self-judgment, ‘good health condition’ was highest(36.77 ± 4.99 points). In the case of the knowledge level of those who visited medical institutions for last one year, ‘never visited’ was highest(37.19 ± 5.02 points). In the kind of medical institutions, ‘those who visited general hospital’ was highest(36.58 ± 5.63 points). In the way of knowledge obtainments of electronic wave through education and publicity media, ‘school education’ was highest(37.55 ± 5.19 points). According to the score of awareness level of disease incidence related to electronic wave, allergy and erethism was highest(57.8 points on the basis of 100 points). It appeared in order of leukemia, skin disease or skin cancer, dementia, various cancers, cataract, and brain tumor. The variables which significantly influenced knowledge level of harm of electronic wave were knowledge obtainments of electronic wave, age, economic status, daily TV watching period, sex, period of daily cellular phone use, period of working with computer, and daily VTR watching period. The knowledge of community residents concerning harmful affect of electronic wave on health is needed because people's opportunity of exposing to electronic wave is increasing. Especially, it is the demands of the times to provide information on knowledge of each equipment which generate electronic wave. The government, the product manufacturing companies, related social organizations, and education institutions must make efforts to develop the education program which is needed to make people have right knowledge and attitude.
Modern high technology has developed from a printing type-oriented culture to sight and hearing-oriented one. Such changes helped raise users' interests and desires on being seen and heard, encouraging research for various usages and types. In particular, with the common use of high speed Internet and firmer standing of Internet as advertising media, Internet banner advertisement has been growing twice as much as the previous year, every year. With this accelerated development of multimedia Kinetic Typography has been used for a variety of forms. During this series of process, the most important one is the expression of the movement of Kinetic Typography. Information able to obtain from the existing way of reading became transferred to the process of multi-dimensional process of obtaining such as seeing and hearing. Accordingly, more effective expression with interesting factors considered together with more activeness for users' obtaining information through Internet, can expect more positive effects. Towards this goal, more various new tries should be made for Internet banner advertisement. In particular, with the larger role in Kinetic Typography to play the role of users' reading for information obtainment, the principles & factors of expression for Internet banner advertisement would be studied, and expression types and structure would be considered, and data from them would be collected and analyzed, to suggest the direction of development.
Our study is focused on a multiple-agent system to provide efficient collaborative work by automating the conference calling process with the help of intelligent agents. Automating the meeting scheduling requires a careful consideration of the individual official schedule as well as the privacy and personal preferences. Therefore, the automation of conference calling needs the distributed processing task where a separate calendar management process is associated for increasing the reliability and inherent parallelism. This paper describes in detail the design and implementation issues of a multiple-agent system for conference calling that allows the convener and participants to minimize their efforts in creating a meeting. Our system is based on the client-sewer model. In the sewer side, a scheduling agent, a negotiating agent, a personal information managing agent, a group information managing agent, a session managing agent, and a coordinating agent are operating. In the client side, an interface agent, a media agent, and a collaborating agent are operating. Agents use a standardized knowledge manipulation language to communicate amongst themselves. Communicating through a standardized knowledge manipulation language allows the system to overcome heterogeneity which is one of the most important problems in communication among agents for distributed collaborative computing. The agents of our system propose the dates on which as many participants as possible are available to attend the conference using the forward chaining algorithm and the back propagation network algorithm.
The World-Wide Web is the largest distributed Information space and has grown to encompass diverse information resources. However, although Web is growing exponentially, the individual's capacity to read and digest contents is essentially fixed. From the view point of Web users, they can be confused by explosion of Web information, by constantly changing Web environments, and by lack of understanding needs of Web users. In these Web environments, mining traversal patterns is an important problem in Web mining with a host of application domains including system design and Information services. Conventional traversal pattern mining systems use the inter-pages association in sessions with only a very restricted mechanism (based on vector or matrix) for generating frequent k-Pagesets. We develop a family of novel algorithms (termed WebPR - Web Page Recommend) for mining frequent traversal patterns and then pageset to recommend. Our algorithms provide Web users with new page views, which Include pagesets to recommend, so that users can effectively traverse its Web site. The main distinguishing factors are both a point consistently spanning schemes applying inter-pages association for mining frequent traversal patterns and a point proposing the most efficient tree model. Our experimentation with two real data sets, including Lady Asiana and KBS media server site, clearly validates that our method outperforms conventional methods.

Background: Chronic pain affects approximately 22% of the world's population. Opioids can be useful in chronic pain management. However, some patients have negative perception of opioids. The purpose of this research was to evaluate patients' perception about opioids and investigate problems associated with prescribing and taking opioids in South Korea. Methods: Patients who visited a pain clinic in 14 university hospitals of South Korea from September through October 2018 were asked to complete anonymous questionnaires about taking opioids. Results: Of the 368 patients that were surveyed (female 53.3%, male 46.7%), 56.8% were prescribed opioids. In the opioid group, 92.8% patients had heard of opioids from their doctor and 72.6% of them had a positive perception about opioids. The side effects associated with opioid use were constipation (35.4%), dizziness (24.6%), nausea and vomiting (17.4%), dysuria (6.2%), and addiction (2.0%). In the no opioid group, the primary sources of information about opioids were doctors (49.2%), mass media (30.8%), and the internet (16.2%). The main reasons why 39.0% patients did not take opioids were fear of addiction (57.7%) and side effects (38.5%). There were 71.5% and 60.9% patients in the opioid and no opioid group, respectively, who wished to take opioids when their numeric rating scale pain score was ≥ 7. Conclusions: Perception of opioids among patients who take them was either neutral or positive. However, 39.0% patients who have not been prescribed opioids did not want an opioid prescription, citing fear of addiction and side effects as the primary reasons.

This study is to analyze the effects of geography class using taboo games on developing student's ability to think. After playing taboo games in which students explain keyword without using presented taboo words, worksheets of participants were analyzed with interviews to demonstrate what kind of thinking skills are working. The results of the analyses are as follows. First, while divergent thinking is applied to students who explain keyword in taboo games, convergent thinking is applied to students who listen to and guess them. Second, as groups play a role as explainer or answerer in turn, they can learn divergent and convergent thinking together. Third, students seem to improve high-order thinking ability like decision-making, critical thinking, metacogniton through taboo games. Fourth, students have a tendency to use a variety of direct and/or indirect experiences (especially, from media) as well as cross curricular knowledge in order to explain keyword without using taboo words.
Anther and/or tissue culture of cross pollinated crops would be very important because it can result in the direct use of haploids or doubled haploids for developing superior hybrids or varieties. The objective of the study was to investigate the response frequencies in anther and/or tissue-cultured hybrids of corn. pearl millet and buckwheat to identify agronomically acceptable germplasm of the crops. 27 crosses of corn inbred lines were evaluated by plating their anthers on N6. MS and Yu-Pei media. Two genotypes of FR1l41/FR16 hybrid cultured on N6 medium and Fla 2BT73/S6013 hybrid cultured on N6 medium responded with one anther producing calli when plated after 5$^{\circ}C$ low temperature treatment for one week. Immature embryos of corn hybrid Suwon 19 responded producing calli that were regenerated to plants at a 8.6 percent success rate. Of the 20 corn hybrids. immature tessels of FR1l41/FR16. B68/A1l6N//KS15. KS16/KS17. GA209/DB578 and SDB126/GA209 crosses responded at a relatively higher success rate producing calli that were regenerated to plants. In tissue culture of elongating culms of pearl millet x Napier grass interspecific hybrid. 2.5-4.0mm long pieces of the culm were good for callus induction resulting in higher success rate. The epicotyl of buckwheat was very good for tissue culture. and the node produced the plants regenerated directly without callus induction on the B5 medium containing I ppm BA and 0.05 ppm IBA. There were great differences in response to anther and/or tissue culture of corn, pearl millet and buckwheat due to genotype x medium and environment interactions.
The communication environment made by digital technologies has made it possible to exchange information and deliver messages fast and easily among people of various classes in virtual space beyond time and space. Net-generation, who is accustomed to this virtual space, couldn't be satisfied with the linear text-oriented language any more, and began to make signs by use of computers in order to differentiate itself from others and to express its desires. Among the signs, emoticon created by joint of popular culture and digital communication centering around young generation is a new visual sign and emotional sign that can deliver a sender's feelings contained in a message. This paper has studied social phenomena, their relationships with emoticon and background of its creation through documentary review of media development, changes in the communication environment and popular culture. Furthermore, it has analyzed the meaningful action and roles of emoticon as a sign in terms of semiotics and also, studied a possibility of using emoticon as a new emotional sign. The study results say that emoticon can play the roles of a non-linguistic sign just like general signs that make mutual exchange through meaningful action, and also that it can be used to effectively deliver messages not only in virtual space, but also in advertising, posters, magazines and CI. However, emoticon is better at emotional expressions yet than other textual signs or visual signs, but in order to position itself as a universal and popular sign, emotional expressions should be clear, any difference in understanding messages should be removed, and message delivery should be more efficient.
As Scalable Video Coding (SVC) is a video compression standard extended from H.264/AVC, it is a way to provide scalability in terms of temporal, spatial and quality. Although the compression efficiency of SVC is increased due to the scalability in many aspect, it is essential to reduce the complexity in order to efficiently use because the complexity is relatively increased. To reduce the complexity of SVC in the paper, we propose fast mode decision algorithm to reduce the complexity of encoding process using direction information of B-picture by efficiently performing inter-layer prediction. The proposed algorithm is a fast mode decision algorithm that makes different from detection mode number of forward and backward, bi-direction in the way using best mode of base-layer up-sampled after simply SKIP mode detection using the direction information of best mode of base-layer up-sampled. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm approach can achieve the maximum computational time saving about 53% with almost no loss of rate distortion (RD) performance in the enhancement layer.
