RTOS기반 LinuxCNC에서 EtherCAT 통신이 적용된 3축 CNC 제어 시스템 개발 (Development of RTOS Based LinuxCNC 3-axis Control System with EhterCAT Communication)

  • In this paper, we proposed a PC-based CNC control system using EtherCAT-based servo drive and I/O device. The default communication of LinuxCNC is a parallel port, and data processing with high bandwidth is impossible. However, it is possible to apply various bandwidth devices through the application of EtherCAT, one of the industrial Ethernet communications with high bandwidth. Therefore, the hardware control method of LinuxCNC was applied through EtherCAT communication from the existing parallel port. Finally, through HAL configuration, I/O device operation check and 3-axis motion control proved the LinuxCNC system with EtherCAT.

  • ABS(Antilock Brake System) prevents the wheels from "locking" and improve "handling" during braking. Currently, safety and environmental issues are a major concern in the automotive industry. ABS has become the vital brake system. ABS is composed of sensors for wheel speed, a pressure modulator for controlling the brake pressures in the wheel brake cylinders, and an electronic control unit(ECU) which evaluates the signals from the wheel speed sensors and converts these to commands to control the pressure of modulator. In this paper, ECU developed for commercial vehicles is described. Detection of wheel slip, control algorithms of ABS, and diagnosis method of ECU are presented.

  • Ball bearings (BB) are generally used in spindle of‘ disk drives at present, but they have been known that BB generate high frequency vibration. Fluid dynamic bearings (FDB) having high-rotational accuracy and small vibration characteristics have been developed as next generation spindles. Especially. a ferro fluid bearing (FFB) spindle has the advantage to prevent leakage and dispersion of lubricating oil using a ferro seal. In this study, we measured damping characteristics and frequency characteristics of these bearing spindles using a high-frequency vibration base. High frequency excitation was added to these bearing spindles mounted on the vibration base, and we proved that FFB and FDB spindles have effective damping.

  • A lot of conventional automotive components driven by mechanical power source are being replated with electrical ones to comply with the demands of market and customer, therefore the amount of electric energy used in a vehicle will be increased continuously. The increment of electric power demand causes interest on new higher power system such as 42V Power Net, and furthermore necessity for development of energy storage device is highlighted recently. This paper presents the design of the BLDC motor drive for Cooling Fan in 42V automotive system. Test results confirmed the feasibility of the proposed motor drive system design.

  • An embedded monitoring and control system which can be controlled and monitored with web, was implemented in this paper. The principal data which should be controlled are the present temperature and pH of a fish farm. The input signals are from temperature sensors and pH sensors. The input data are digital which are A/D converted every constant time, and the results are stored to the database. The converted data are displayed on a large electric signboard at the fish-farm. This system was designed that supervisors can control the system and watch the real situation of the fish-farm at remote places.

Traveler Guidance System based on 3D Street Modeling

  • This paper presents a traveler guidance system that offers 3D street information such as road types, signal light systems, street trees, buildings, etc. We consider 5x4 road system of Gangnam(in Seoul, Korea) as a test area and reflect the traveler's car-driving situation. A web server is constructed to serve traveler's driving path by switching 3D animation scenes automatically. To do batch processing of geometric data for the 3D graphical streets construction, we have extracted major street information from present GIS database and created new GIS file formats (SMF files), which contain data sessions for links, nodes, and facilities. With these files, we can render 3D navigation scenes. A number of vector calculations were performed for the geometrical consistence and texture-mapping method was used for the realistic scene generation. Finally, we have verified the effectiveness of the service by operating a test scenario. We have checked whether traveler's 2D path and 3D navigation are exactly reported after setting specific departure and destination. This system offers us well awareness of streets and takes useful role of traveler guidance.

  • This paper deals with the development of a deep-learning-based robot that recognizes various types of stairs and performs a mission to go up to the target floor. The overall motion sequence of the robot is performed based on the ROS robot operating system, and it is possible to detect the shape of the stairs required to implement the motion sequence through rapid object recognition through YOLOv4 and Cuda acceleration calculations. Using the ROS operating system installed in Jetson Nano, a system was built to support communication between Arduino DUE and OpenCM 9.04 with heterogeneous hardware and to control the movement of the robot by aligning the received sensors and data. In addition, the web server for robot control was manufactured as ROS web server, and flow chart and basic ROS communication were designed to enable control through computer and smartphone through message passing.

Effect of Bone Cement Volume and Stiffness on Occurrences of Adjacent Vertebral Fractures after Vertebroplasty

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to find the optimal stiffness and volume of bone cement and their biomechanical effects on the adjacent vertebrae to determine a better strategy for conducting vertebroplasty. Methods : A three-dimensional finite-element model of a functional spinal unit was developed using computed tomography scans of a normal motion segment, comprising the T11, T12 and L1 vertebrae. Volumes of bone cement, with appropriate mechanical properties, were inserted into the trabecular core of the T12 vertebra. Parametric studies were done by varying the volume and stiffness of the bone cement. Results : When the bone cement filling volume reached 30% of the volume of a vertebral body, the level of stiffness was restored to that of normal bone, and when higher bone cement exceeded 30% of the volume, the result was stiffness in excess of that of normal bone. When the bone cement volume was varied, local stress in the bony structures (cortical shell, trabecular bone and endplate) of each vertebra monotonically increased. Low-modulus bone cement has the effect of reducing strain in the augmented body, but only in cases of relatively high volumes of bone cement (>50%). Furthermore, varying the stiffness of bone cement has a negligible effect on the stress distribution of vertebral bodies. Conclusion : The volume of cement was considered to be the most important determinant in endplate fracture. Changing the stiffness of bone cement has a negligible effect on the stress distribution of vertebral bodies.

  • Design and drive characteristics of SR drive for hydraulic pump system using passive converter is presented in this paper. In oder to get the high performance, a simple passive circuit is added in the front-end of a conventional asymmetric converter, which consists of three diodes and one capacitor. This passive converter has the high demagnetization voltage, to reduce the demagnetization time. Futhermore optimal turn-off angle for the proposed passive converter is proposed. According to motor speed and current, an optimal turn-off angle can be achieved by look-up table to reduce torque ripple. The characteristic of proposed hydraulic pump system using passive converter is verified by simulation and experimental results.
