  • CIGS is one of thin film solar cell and has been studied so much, because of the possibility of low price and high efficiency. Until now, co-evaporation and sputtering were typical method to prepare CIGS absorption layer, and a few company commercialized solar cell by these method. However, non-vacuum process which has been studied for long time has not been progressed, though the merit of low price. Especially, aerosol deposition method has not been reported, because it is difficult to prepare a large quantity of various CIGS powder. In this study, CIGS powder was synthesized by mechanochemical method and CIGS absorption layer was deposited by aerosol deposition method. The thickness of the CIGS layer was controlled by the number of deposition and the surface roughness of it was affected by the amount of flow gas. And, also, I-V curve of it appeared metallic property in the case of 'as deposition'. After heat treatment in Se-rich atmosphere, the electrical property of it changed to a semiconductor. CdS and transparent conduction layer were formed by a typical method on it for solar cell. The efficiency of cell was appeared 0.19%. Though the efficiency was low because of the disharmony in the after-process, it was conformed that CIGS solar cell could be prepared by aerosol deposition.

  • In the present study, nanocrystalline mixed metal oxide, $CuMnO_3$ catalyst have been synthesized by mechanochemical method with green chemistry approach. The synthesized catalyst was characterized by analytical techniques including FTIR, XRD, SEM, TEM and BET surface area. The synthesized catalyst shows high surface area is $121.06m^2/g$ with particle size 18 nm. The one pot four component synthesis of substituted 2-phenyl-4(3H) quinazolinone from the reaction of anthranilic acid, benzoyl chloride, hydrazine hydrate and substituted benzaldehyde in presence of $CuMnO_3$ nanocatalyst has been carried out. It affords the corresponding products with high yield (76-95%) in very short reaction time. All the obtained products were characterized with $^1HNMR$, $^{13}CNMR$, FTIR and EIMS.

  • Titanium carbides are widely used for cutting tools and grinding wheels, because of their superior physical properties such as high melting temperature, high hardness, high wear resistance, good thermal conductivity and excellent thermal shock resistance. The common synthesizing method for the titanium carbide powders is carbo-thermal reduction from the mixtures of titanium oxide($TiO_2$) and carbon black. The purpose of the present research is to fabricate nano TiC powders using titanium salt and titanium hydride by the mechanochemical process(MCP). The initial elements used in this experiment are liquid $TiCl_4$(99.9%), $TiH_2$(99.9%) and active carbon(<$32{\mu}m$, 99.9%). Mg powders were added to the $TiCl_4$ solution in order to induce the reaction with Cl-. The weight ratios of the carbon and Mg powders were theoretically calculated. The TiC and $MgCl_2$ powders were milled in the planetary milling jar for 10 hours. The 40 nm TiC powders were fabricated by wet milling for 4 hours from the $TiCl_4$+C+Mg solution, and 300 nm TiC particles were obtained by using titanium hydride.

  • The carbon nanomaterials were prepared using the thermal chemical vapor deposition with ${C_2}{H_2}$ on the Ni-graphite mixture as a supported catalyst. The samples were identified by SEM, TEM, Raman spectroscopy, and the hydrogen storage measurement by electrochemical method was also carried out. The purity of carbon nanotube prepared using ground mixture was higher than that of unground one. Also, the amount of hydrogen storage of purified carbon nanomaterials was more than that of unpurified one.

  • SiOx was prepared from a mixture of Si and SiO2 via high-energy ball milling as a negative electrode material for Li-ion batteries. The molar ratio of Si to SiO2 as precursors and the milling time were varied to identify the synthetic condition that could exhibit desirable anode performances. With an appropriate milling time, the material showed a unique microstructure in which amorphous Si nanoparticles were intimately embedded within the SiO2 matrix. The interface between the Si and SiO2 was composed of silicon suboxides with Si oxidation states from 0 to +4 as proven by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electrochemical analysis. With the addition of a conductive carbon (Super P carbon black) as a coating material, the SiOx/C manifested superior specific capacity to a commercial SiOx/C composite without compromising its cycle-life performance. The simple mechanochemical method described in this study will shed light on cost-effective synthesis of high-capacity silicon oxides as promising anode materials.

  • $Y_2O_3-H_3BO_3:Eu^{3+}$ powders are synthesized using a mechanical alloying method, and their photoluminescence (PL) properties are investigated through luminescence spectrophotometry. For samples milled for 300 min, some $Y_2O_3$ peaks ([222], [440], and [622]) and amorphous formations are observed. The 300-min-milled mixture annealed at $800^{\circ}C$ for 1 h with Eu = 8 mol% has the strongest PL intensity at every temperature increase of $100^{\circ}C$ (increasing from 700 to $1200^{\circ}C$ in $100^{\circ}C$ increments). PL peaks of the powder mixture, as excited by a xenon discharge lamp (20 kW) at 240 nm, are detected at approximately 592 nm (orange light, $^5D_o{\rightarrow}^7F_1$), 613 nm, 628 nm (red light, $^5D_o{\rightarrow}^7F_2$), and 650 nm. The PL intensity of powder mixtures milled for 120 min is generally lower than that of powder mixtures milled for 300 min under the same conditions. PL peaks due to $YBO_3$ and $Y_2O_3$ are observed for 300-min-milled $Y_2O_3-H_3BO_3$ with Eu = 8 mol% after annealing at $800^{\circ}C$ for 1 h.

  • Ferronickel slag, which is an industrial byproduct, is activated by mechanochemical reaction as a nonferrous metal and can be used as an admixture. Therefore, ferronickel slag is used as a substitute resource of admixture. In this study, to evaluate the effect of mixed of ferronickel slag powder and admixture, a mortar using a mixture of ferronickel slag powder, quicklime, gypsum and calcium chloride was fabricated by vibrated and rolled manufacturing method. Strength were evaluated by flexural and compressive strength tests, and durability was evaluated by performing chlorine ion penetration resistance and chemical resistance test. When the substitution ratio of ferronickel slag powder is constant, it is considered that the mixed use of quicklime, gypsum and calcium chloride as admixtures increases the performance.
