Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the viscoelastic properties related to handling characteristics of composite resins, Methods: A custom designed vertical oscillation rheometer (VOR) was used for rheological measurements of composites. The VOR consists of three parts: (1) a measuring unit, (2) a deformation induction unit and (3) a force detecting unit, Two medium viscous composites, Z100 and Z250 and two packable composites, P60 and SureFil were tested. The viscoelastic material function, including complex modulus $E^{*}$ and phase angle ${\delta}$, were measured. A dynamic oscillatory test was used to evaluate the storage modulus (E'), loss modulus (E") and loss tangent ($tan{\delta}$) of the composites as a function of frequency ($\omega$) from 0.1 to 20 Hz at $23^{\circ}C$. Results: The E' and E" increased with increasing frequency and showed differences in magnitude between brands. The $E^{*}s$ of composites at ${\omega}{\;}={\;}2{\;}Hz$, normalized to that of Z100, were 2.16 (Z250), 4,80 (P60) and 25.21 (SureFil). The magnitudes and patterns of the change of $tan{\delta}$ of composites with increasing frequency were significantly different between brands. The relationships between the complex modulus $E^{*}$, the phase angle ${\delta}$ and the frequency \omega were represented by frequency domain phasor form, $E^{*}{\;}(\omega){\;}={\;}E^{*}e^{i{\delta}}{\;}={\;}E^{*}{\angle}{\delta}$. Conclusions: The viscoelasticity of composites that influences handling characteristics is significant different between brands, The VOR is a relatively simple device for dynamic, mechanical analysis of high viscous dental composites. The locus of frequency domain phasor plots in a complex plane is a valuable method of representing the viscoelastic properties of composites.
The physical properties of polymer are greatly influenced by the extent to which a resin cures. The presence of un reacted monomer can, have a plasticizing effect on the polymer, thereby altering the physical and mechanical properties of dentin bonding agent (DBA). If the DBA does not polymerize sufficiently, it will leave a weak bonding layer and lead to lower bond strength. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strengths(SBS) and the degree of conversion (DC) of 4 commercialy avilable dentin bonding systems which are composed of 2 multi-bottle systems [Scotchbond Multi-Purpose (SMP), AeliteBond(AB)] and 2 onebottle systems [SingleBond(SB), One-Step(OS)]. For shear bond strength measurement, labial surfaces of freshly extracted bovine incisors were ground with # 600 grit SiC paper to expose dentin. Four different groups of samples were formed, with 10 samples. being made for each of the 4 commercial DBA in each group according to the curing sequences of DBA and overlayer thickness of composites: Group I (standard cure and 1mm thick composites) : The DBA was light cured and the composites of 1mm thickness was applied ; Group II (standard cure and 2mm thick composites) : The DBA was light cured and the composites of 2mm thickness was applied; Group III (simultaneous cure and 1mm thick composites) : The DBA was not light-cured and simultaneously cured with composites of 1mm thickness; Group N (simultaneous cure and 2mm thick composites) : The DBA was. not light-cured and simultaneously cured with composites of 2mm thickness. The SBS was measured immediately after the composites was bonded to the bovine dentin using an Instron machine. The DC of the DBA was examined in a thin film under simulated conditions of the experimental groups according to the curing sequences and overlayer thickness of composites in the SBS test. using a Fourier transform Infrared(FTIR) spectrometer. The following results were obtained from SBS tests and DC measurements 1. In SBS tests, the multi-bottle DBA(SMP, AB) had a generally higher bond strength values than the one bottle DBA(SB, OS). In DC measurements, the one bottle DBA(SB, OS) had a significantly higher DC than the multi-bottle DBA(SMP, AB). 2. In all DBAs except OS, there was no significant difference between the bond strength of group I (standard cure and 1mm thick composites) and that of group III (simultaneous cure and 1mm thick composites). SMP, SB in Group I had a significantly higher DC than those in group III, but AB, OS in group I had a significantly lower DC than those in group III 3. All DBAs in Goup II (standard cure and 2mm thick composites) had significantly higher bond strength and DC than those in Group N (simultaneous cure and 2mm thick composites). 4. In all DBAs, there was no significantly different SBS and DC between Group I and Group II, but all DBAs in Group III had significantly higher SBS and DC than those in Group IV.

As the conference result of MEPC in IMO, development of ballast water management system corresponding to newly established ballast water management standard (D2 regulation) of shipping is being made an active progress over the whole world. The ballast water management system should treat particular material of more than $10{\mu}m$ in high capacity of more than 500t per hour in the event of filtration process. Also, it is very difficult to develop a practical management system since a limited element which a narrow space of the ship should be designed in the minimal volume is assumed. Therefore, the study promoted a study on the next generation auto back wash media filter to overcome such a limited element. Also, the study performed pressure and flux measurement test followed by thickness of each filter medium for filtration by each size to grasp a relation between absorption and pressure at the time of vacuum filtration and mechanical analysis and turbidity change observation of filtered water after vacuum filtration.
Reinforced concrete structures have found wide usage in land and maritime applications. However, the corrosion of reinforced concrete has been recognized as a serious problem from economic and safety standpoints. In previous studies, the corrosion behavior of the inner steel bar embedded in mortar (W/C: 0.4, 0.5) was investigated using electrochemical methods. In this study, multiple mortar test specimens (W/C: 0.6) with six different cover thicknesses were prepared and immersed in flowing seawater for five years. Subsequently, equations related to the cover thickness, period of immersion, and corrosion characteristics of the embedded steel bar were evaluated using electrochemical methods. Prior to immersion, the corrosion potentials indicated an increase with increasing cover thickness, and after five years, all corrosion potentials demonstrated a trend in the positive direction irrespective of the cover thickness. However, the relationships between the corrosion potential and cover thickness were not in complete agreement. Furthermore, after five years, all of the corrosion potentials indicated values that were nobler compared to those obtained prior to immersion, and their corrosion current densities also decreased compared to their values obtained prior to immersion. It was considered that the embedded steel bar was easily corroded because of the aggression of water, dissolved oxygen, and chloride ions; a higher W/C ratio also assisted the corrosion process. The corrosive products deposited on the surface of the steel bar for five years cast a resistance polarizing effect shifting the corrosion potential in the nobler direction. Consequently, it was considered that the W/C ratio of 0.6 showed nearly same results as those of W/C of 0.4 and 0.5. Therefore, the corrosion potential as well as various parameters such as the cover thickness, period of immersion, and W/C ratio must be considered at once for a more accurate evaluation of the corrosion property of reinforced steel exposed to marine environment for a long period.

Large cast iron structures are used in casings and pipes in shipsand chemical plants. Broken parts in the casings and pipescan result in failures even when stresses are below the yield strength of the part's materials. Fatigue failure of a large cast iron structure is inevitable due to the design constraints and low reliability of the material strength. A small structure can be repaired by welding, but a large structure cannot because it cannot be preheated slowly and uniformly. This study shows that a large structure can be repaired by a cold joint method using a crack repair screw. Large cast iron structures were manufactured by GC 300, and their design stress is below 3.5 MPa. The tensile strength on notched specimens repaired by crack repair screws was 8.2 MPa. Therefore, the safety factors of structures repaired by crack repair screws have a value above 2.3 and are considered to be high values.

Instead of hydraulic actuation systems, an electromechanical actuation system is more efficient in terms of weight, cost, and test evaluation in the thrust vector control of the 7-ton gimbal engine used in the Korea Space Launch Vehicle-II(KSLV-II) $3^{rd}$ stage. The electromechanical actuator is a kind of servo actuator with position feedback and uses a BLDC motor that can operate at high vacuum. In the case of the gimballed rocket engine, a synthetic resonance phenomenon may occur due to a combination of a vibration mode of the actuator itself, a bending mode of the launcher structure, and an inertial load of the gimbals engine. When the synthetic resonance occurs, the control of the rocket attitude becomes unstable. Therefore, the requirements for the stiffness have been applied in consideration of the gimbal engine characteristics, the support structure, and the actuating system. For the 7-ton gimbal engine of the KSLV-II $3^{rd}$ stage, the stiffness requirement of the actuation system is $3.94{\times}10^7N/m$, and the direct drive type electromechanical actuator is designed to satisfy this requirement. In this paper, an equivalent stiffness analysis model of a direct drive electromechanical actuator designed based on the stiffness requirements is proposed and verified by experimental results.

In this study, UV curing and crosslinking process was introduced for synthesis of acrylic foam tape that can be applied to the the automotive assembly process. Polymerized adhesive are laminated to baseform and varying the thickness of specimens were prepared. To measure basic mechanical properties, stainless steel was used. And in the test peel, dynamic shear and t-block were used. The acrylform adhesive show better results compare with typical adhesive and the properties depand on external factors - thick, wetting time -. To analysis functions of acrylic foam adhesive used to automobile production, evaluate the adhesive properties on the various plastic substrate. In PP and PE are categorized low surface energy materials, their properties have not been expressed. But dynamic shear tests show that some properties could be expressed by the difference break mechanism.

A series of full-scale testing was conducted to examine the effect of stairwell pressurization on the pressure differential between the stairwell and the auxiliary room and between the auxiliary room and the residence. Also, flow velocity profiles at open doors were measured. The building tested was a condominium that had twenty floors above the ground and two floors underground. For pressurization of the stairs, a blower was used to supply air into the stairwell at one location underground. Thirteen different cases were tested, and test variables included the number of floors with open doors and the flow rate of the air supply. When the doors on the first floor were open, the pressure differential between the stairwell and the auxiliary room was distributed almost uniformly except for locations near the first floor. When the flow rate was in the range of 180~270 CMM and the doors of one floor were open, the flow velocity could satisfy the requirement of fire safety standards and the stairwell pressure was positive at all levels. However, the minimum pressure requirement (10 Pa) could not always be satisfied. When doors on two floors were open, the flow velocity requirement could be satisfied by increasing the flow rate, but it was found impractical to satisfy the minimum pressure requirement without causing excessive pressure differential in the area near the blower.

Rock grouting is important to improve the waterproof efficiency and mechanical strength of rock medium with joint for utilizing the underground rock space such as tunnel. The grouting materials typically has been used the cement materials, which represent Bingham fluid model. This model can express the relationship of viscosity and yield strength. In addition, it is dependent with elapsed time. The grouting injection performance can be deteriorated with an increase of viscosity and yield strength in the grouting process if the time dependence is ignored. Therefore, in this study, the characteristics of viscosity and yield strength were investigated according to water-cement ratio and time dependence in the laboratory test. Numerical simulation was carried out to investigate the grouting performance according to the time dependence of characteristics in terms of the viscosity model. Given the results, the grouting injected distance and cumulative grout volume were significantly decreased when the time dependence of grouting material was considered. This study, considering the characteristics according to the time dependence of viscosity and yield strength, will be meaningful to the design of grouting injection in field applications.

During EPB TBM tunnelling, an appropriate application of additives such as foam and polymer is an essential factor to secure the stability of TBM as well as tunnelling performance. From the '90s, there have been many studies on the optimal injection of additives worldwidely contrary to the domestic situation. Therefore, in this paper, the foam, which is widely adopted for soil conditioning, was selected as an additive in order to investigate the effect of foam injection on TBM performance through a series of laboratory excavation tests. The excavation experiments were carried out on artificial sandy soil specimens with consideration of the variance of FIR (Foam Injection Ratio), FER (Foam Expansion Ratio) and $C_f$ (Surfactant Concentration), which indicate the amount and quality of the foam. During the tests, torque values were measured, and the workability of conditioned soil was evaluated by comparing the slump values of muck after each experiment. In addition, a weight loss of the replaceable aluminum cutter bits installed on the blade was measured to estimate the degree of abrasion. Finally, the foam injection ratio for the optimal TBM excavation for the typical soil specimen was determined by comparing the measured torque, slump value and abrasion. Note that the foam injection conditions satisfying the appropriate level of machine load, mechanical wear and workability are essential in the EPB TBM operational design.
