One of the major issues in inertial and magnetic measurement unit (IMMU)-based 3D orientation estimation is compensation for magnetic disturbances in magnetometer signals, as the magnetic disturbance is a major cause of inaccurate yaw estimation. In the proposed approach, a kinematic constraint is used to provide a measurement equation in addition to the accelerometer and magnetometer signals to mitigate the disturbance effect on the orientation estimation. Although a Kalman filter (KF) is the most popular framework for IMMU-based orientation estimation, a complementary filter (CF) has its own advantages over KF in terms of mathematical simplicity and ease of implementation. Accordingly, this paper introduces a quaternion-based CF with a constraint-combined correction equation. Furthermore, the weight of the constraint relative to the magnetometer signal is adjusted to adapt to magnetic environments to optimally deal with the magnetic disturbance. In the results of our validation experiments, the average and maximum of yaw errors were $1.17^{\circ}$ and $1.65^{\circ}$ from the proposed CF, respectively, and $8.88^{\circ}$ and $14.73^{\circ}$ from the conventional CF, respectively, showing the superiority of the proposed approach.
Object detection has always been to pursue objects with particular properties or representations and to predict details on objects including the positions, sizes and angle of rotation in the current picture. This was a very important subject of computer vision science. While vision-based object tracking strategies for the analysis of competitive videos have been developed, it is still difficult to accurately identify and position a speedy small ball. In this study, deep learning (DP) network was developed to face these obstacles in the study of tennis motion tracking from a complex perspective to understand the performance of athletes. This research has used CNN-VGG 16 to tracking the tennis ball from broadcasting videos while their images are distorted, thin and often invisible not only to identify the image of the ball from a single frame, but also to learn patterns from consecutive frames, then VGG 16 takes images with 640 to 360 sizes to locate the ball and obtain high accuracy in public videos. VGG 16 tests 99.6%, 96.63%, and 99.5%, respectively, of accuracy. In order to avoid overfitting, 9 additional videos and a subset of the previous dataset are partly labelled for the 10-fold cross-validation. The results show that CNN-VGG 16 outperforms the standard approach by a wide margin and provides excellent ball tracking performance.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the level of agreement between smartphone apps and self-reported physical activity questionnaires. Methods: Quantitative methods were used to assess the correlation and agreement between the number of steps counted by a smartphone app and the amount of walking reported in a survey. A total of 29 adults who used smartphones were recruited from a university, and their step counts from their smartphone pedometers and responses to the international physical activity questionnaire (IPAQ) were collected over a 10-week period. Results: An analysis of 170 data pairs with Spearman's rho correlation and a Bland-Altman plot revealed a positive correlation between step counts from the smartphone app and walking activity from the IPAQ. The Bland-Altman plot also demonstrated the agreement to be improved among female participants. Conclusion: In assessing walking activity, smartphone pedometer apps showed good correlation with the IPAQ and improved agreement with the IPAQ among women. Therefore, it is suggested that the participants' gender and activity intensity, as well as the accuracy of measurement tools, should be considered in an evaluation of the delivery of physical activity promotion programs through smartphone apps.

Background: Previous studies have investigated technology-aided needling training systems for acupuncture on phantom models using various measurement techniques. In this study, we developed and validated a vision-based needling training system (noncontact measurement) and compared its training effectiveness with that of the traditional training method. Methods: Needle displacements during manipulation were analyzed using OpenCV to derive three parameters, i.e., needle insertion speed, needle insertion angle (needle tip direction), and needle insertion length. The system was validated in a laboratory setting and a needling training course. The performances of the novices (students) before and after training were compared with the experts. The technology-aided training method was also compared with the traditional training method. Results: Before the training, a significant difference in needle insertion speed was found between experts and novices. After the training, the novices approached the speed of the experts. Both training methods could improve the insertion speed of the novices after 10 training sessions. However, the technology-aided training group already showed improvement after five training sessions. Students and teachers showed positive attitudes toward the system. Conclusion: The results suggest that the technology-aided method using computer vision has similar training effectiveness to the traditional one and can potentially be used to speed up needling training.

Multichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW) method has exhibited broad application prospects in the nondestructive detection of interfacial debonding in steel-concrete composite structures (SCCS). However, due to the structural diversity of SCCS and the high stealthiness of interfacial debonding defects, the feasibility of MASW method needs to be investigated in depth. In this study, synthetic parametric study on MASW nondestructive debonding detection for SCCSs is performed. The aim is to quantitatively analyze influential factors with respect to structural composition of SCCS and MASW measurement mode. First, stress wave composition and propagation process in SCCS are studied utilizing 2D numerical simulation. For structural composition in SCCS, the thickness variation of steel plate, concrete core, and debonding defects are discussed. To determine the most appropriate sensor arrangement for MASW measurement, the effects of spacing and number of observation points, along with distances between excitation points, nearest boundary, as well as the first observation point, are analyzed individually. The influence of signal type and frequency of transient excitation on dispersion figures from forwarding analysis is studied to determine the most suitable excitation signal. The findings from this study can provide important theoretical guidance for MASW-based interfacial debonding detection for SCCS. Furthermore, they can be instrumental in optimizing both the sensor layout design and signal choice for experimental validation.
Floating LiDAR systems provide significant savings in cost and time compared to the fixed meteorological mast measurement type, and have the advantage of being able to be deployed in various locations due to less restriction on the depth of the installation site. However, to use the wind data collected by a floating LiDAR system commercially, verification procedure is required to ensure that the collected data have sufficient availability. The Carbon Trust OWA roadmap presents guidelines in three stages for the reliability of the wind data collected using a floating LiDAR system. Companies developing wind farms are requesting at least Stage 2 (pre-commercial stage) presented by OWA, and many overseas companies are leading the domestic and overseas markets. In this paper, we introduce the case of OWA Stage 2 certification for the commercial operation of floating LiDAR systems.
Axial fan without static blades requires the duct as a guidance for unskewed inflows. This work examined the geometric effects of a duct guided the in and out flows through an impeller. The present methodologies are computational predictions with parallel work by experimental validation. Several different positions of a rotor in a duct are proposed for plausible models of a rotor inside a duct. The optimum axial position of an impeller in a duct is found at the #4 model where the impeller lies on the inlet edge of a circular duct. The model shows a wider inlet area. The result of computational prediction is in good agreement with experiment measurement.
In order to present that the electromagnetic compatibility standards following the frequency goes up which is based automotive electronics, in this paper, a hybrid/electric vehicle battery which reflects the frequency of the equivalent circuit model is introduced. By using this circuit modeling, the impedance characteristics can be analysed and an analyze of battery one cell is finished. Using this model, each different from the discharging situation, the discharge characteristic curve could be led. Basic theoretical approaches and measuring results through MATLAB and experimental validation of the EIS measurement equipment was used.
