  • We are developing the methods for the objective and systematic diagnosis, but in actuality the relativity between a diagnosis of Korean medical doctor to a symptom of patients and the conformity to the expression of the Korean medical diagnostic mechanism is short of the statistical data. so, the questionnaire of Cold-Heat & Deficiency-Excess and a diagnosis of Korean medical doctor and a result of the Korean medical diagnostic mechanism, through the relationship of those, we have offered the objective data for diagnostic validity. The study group was 750 volunteers who diagnosed by Cold-Heat & Deficiency-Excess, out of 1475 volunteers who participated in Korean-Western medical examination. We compared the results of the questionnaires for Cold-Heat & Deficiency-Excess patternization through the questionnaire with a diagnosis of Korean medical doctor. we also studied the diagnostic validity for the item of the questionnaire by statistics analysis. It is proper that 9 questions of 16 questions for the Cold, 6 questions of 14 questions for the Heat, 13 questions of 14 questions for the Deficiency, 6 questions of 9 questions for the Excess, and there is close correlation between the questionnaire to the diagnosis. The difference between the questionnaire score is meaningful(p=0.000), this conforms to the diagnosis of the Korean medical doctor, so the questionnaire have the validity. The result of the questionnaire of Cold-Heat & Deficiency-Excess conform to a diagnosis of Korean medical doctor, it carries an important meaning by the measure of diagnosis, and it is necessary for further study for the significance of the medical diagnostic mechanism.

  • Recently, there has been a trend designing a consistent and uniform regional identity in South Korean provinces as demonstrated by efforts in Chungcheongnam buk-Do. The motivating goals have been to establish an identity for local residents, provide voluntary services, achieve higher value-added business, introduce new management strategies, and establish a local brand through the exportation of local specialties. The by-products of these goals when accomplished include: maintaining a consistent policy, securing governmental economic efficiency of the province, characterizing local culture and improving quality of life. In this study, I tried to find out whether a local logo which is associated with a city plays a core role in the city's identity by comparing each symbol's shape, color and other components which are ways of expressing its meaning. In this respect, I analyzed the type of the Chungcheongnam buk-Do's symbol marks (30) and tried to suggest the desirable direction in developing symbol marks.

  • 1. Objectives The Sasang Constitution has been studied in many parts and one of the most common inquiries is the self-reporting questionnaire. But the established investigation has the problem that the respondents are not fully aware of the questionnaires and answer them. To settle this problem, it's been made new questionnaires through two steps. 2. Methods At first step, the testers ate classified into Yangin(陽人) and Eumin(陰人). And then, Taeyangin is distinguished from Soyangin likewise Taeumin is told from Soeumin. It's called 'The Two Step Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Diagnosis(TS-QSCD)'. This new method is tested by 160 testers and Woosuk university students whose constitution ate confirmed to make clear clinical uses 3. Results and Conclusions Questionnaire Sasang Constitution corresponds with The Real Sasang Constitution at the rate of 71.87%. Only 5.63% has shown an error at the first step. Every experimenters by constitutions, the 56 objects of 74 Taeumin are confirmed the same as it is. It has 84.85% accuracy. The 27 objects of 32 Soeumin come to the same thing and it has 69.23% accuracy. Similarly, the 32 objects of 42 Soyangin come to the same conclusion and 72.73% accuracy high As the result, in comparison to the Real Constitution with the Constitution by questionnaires, the accord comes out Kappa Indices 0.6427866. This result is comparatively high. Chi-square Test can be shown statistical meaning as well.

  • This study compares shamans' costumes of Korea with those of Siberia and Central Asia. It also investigates the meaning of shamanism and shamans, the relationship of Korean shamanism to shamanism, and the genealogy of Korean shamanism. For collecting and analyzing data of the research, literature reviews, field studies, and the investigation of historical relics are mostly used. The following are the major findings of the research: Through the comparison of shamans' costumes of Korea with those of Siberia and Central Asia, this research finds out some similarities and differences in the costumes. Both Korean shamans and Siberian and Central Asian shamans wore shaman's costumes and used utensils like bells or mirrors when they perform a religious service. On their costumes, they both used an element which stands for birds. However, they were different in terms of the materials or styles of the costumes, of the function of the costumes, and of the decorating with ornaments. The differences in the materials or styles of the costumes, different functions of the costumes, and using ornaments or not can be viewed as a general phenomenon, which is resulted from different environments. The soul's departing the body or the possession or a mixed method can be considered as mere variations due to regional or cultural differences. In conclusion, based on the comparison of the costumes of shamans of Korea with those of Siberia and Central Asia, the shamans of Korea and Siberia and Central Asia share the same origin. And the genealogy of Korean shamans can be said to be originated from the northern shamanism.

  • This study was to examine elementary male and female students' spatial abilities, science process skills, and graph construction and interpretation abilities in order to understand the effect that their spatial abilities and science process skills would have on their graph abilities. To conduct this study, total 12 classes of 435 pupils, 6 classes each from grades 5 and 6 in elementary schools were selected for subjects. The number of male student was 207 and that of female one was 228 of them. And previous test papers of spatial abilities, of science process abilities, and of graph abilities were retouched and updated for reuse in new tests. The results of this study are briefed as follows: Firstly, when spatial abilities for male and female group were compared, female group showed a little higher rate of correct answering than male, but not providing statistically significant gap. Secondly, the science process skill tests revealed basic process skills of both groups were more excellent than their integrated process skills, while female group was found to have more correct answers than male, all of which were proving statistical distinction. Thirdly, of graphing skills for two groups, the graph interpretation skills turned out to be better than the graph construction skills, with female group scoring higher than male and with meaningful difference. Fourthly, both between spatial abilities and graph abilities, and between science process skills and graph abilities, static correlations existed with statistical meaning. In other words, those with higher spatial abilities or science process skills were to do better in constructing and interpreting graphs.

  • A geoid has great meaning as a vertical reference plane, and at this point when GPS measurement is vitalized, it is an important factor that makes level measurements with GPS possible. This study carried out GPS and leveling of newly created complex control points targeting Daejeon. The geoid for the precise area was built by calculating the plane location, elevation and the geoid of each reference point using GPS/Leveling. In addition, this study evaluated the potential of GPS leveling throughout the site calibration. The geoid for the precise area intervals of approximately 1.5km throughout the study was determined. The results highlight the possibility of leveling by estimating direct leveling performance and mean altitude deviation by less than 2cm. Based on the results, if a geoid model for the precise and wide area can be developed throughout ongoing research, survey tasks that require elevation can be streamlined and the efficiency maximized.

  • The $M_{BH}-{\sigma}$ relation for galaxies is a stand-out illustration of the co-evolution of galaxies and their central supermassive black holes (SMBHs); however, how this co-evolution occurs and whether this relation holds for SMBHs of the early universe is still a matter of debate. In order to study this at higher redshifts, quasi-stellar objects (QSOs) are the best targets, due to their large sample size and effective $M_{BH}$ estimation. Nevertheless, it is difficult to examine properties of their host galaxies, simply due to the sheer brightness of the QSO itself. Here, we discuss a distinctive method in studying these QSO host galaxies, via gravitational lensing (GL). GL offers a unique approach in determining the mass of the lens object, in this case the host galaxy. QSOs from the SDSS quasar catalog were searched in the Hubble Space Telescope archives, and GL features around them were visually inspected. One such candidate is SDSS J1114-00; to increase its robustness as a GL system candidate, it was observed with the Inamori-Magellan Areal Camera & Spectrograph (IMACS) on the Magellan Baade Telescope at Las Campanas Observatory, to check whether the GL features have identical colors, meaning they are likely to originate from the same source. After confirmation of such GL systems, a sufficiently large sample will enable us to examine the $M_{BH}-{\sigma}$ relation at various redshifts, and in turn, investigate the co-evolution of SMBHs and their host galaxies.

  • This study was undertaken to suggest an effective fisheries resources management system by using stock assessment and potential yield analyses of crucian carp population in the mid-upper system of the Seomjin River. Fieldwork was conducted seasonally from 2008 to 2009 in the mid-upper system of the Seomjin River. The stock assessment was carried out by the swept area method and the potential yield was estimated by improved fisheries resource potential estimation system based on the Allowable Biological Catch. Also, the yield-per-recruit analysis was used to review the efficient management implication of the resource, Carassius auratus. As a result, the age at first capture ($t_c$) was estimated as 1.468 year, converted body length (BL) was 10.8 cm. Meaning the current fishing intensities, the instantaneous coefficient of fishing mortality (F) was $0.067year^{-1}$, and the yield-per-recruit analysis showed that the current yield per recruit was estimated to be 15.999 g with F and $t_c$. The instantaneous rate of fishing mortality that provides for Allowable Biological Catch ($F_{ABC}$) based on the current $t_c$ and F was estimated as $0.618year^{-1}$. Therefore, the optimum fishing intensities could be achieved at the higher fishing intensity for Carassius auratus. The calculated annual stock of C. auratus was estimated as 7,608 kg, and the potential yield was estimated as 343 kg with $t_c$ and F at the fixed current level. Using yield-per-recruit analysis, if F and $t_c$ were set at $0.618year^{-1}$ and 2 year, the yield per recruit and total allowable catch would be predicted to increase to 62 g and 2,531 kg by about 3.9 times and 7.3 times, respectively.

  • This study has analyzed the meaning of observation time in the course of acquiring the information of subjects who observed the space of hall in subway stations to figure out the process of spatial information excluded and the features of intensive searching. The followings are the results from the analysis of searching process with the interpretation of the process for information acquirement through the interpretation of observation area and time. First, based on the general definition of observation time, the reason for analyzing the features of acquiring spatial information according to the subjects' observation time has been established. The feature of decreased analysis data reflected that of observation time in the process of perceiving and recognizing spatial information, which showed that the observation was focused on the enter of the space during the time spent in the process of observing the space and the spent time with considerable exclusion of bottom end (in particular, right bottom end). Second, while the subjects were observing the space of hall in subway stations, they focused on the top of the left center and the signs on the right exit the most, which was followed by the focus on the both side horizontally and the clock on the top. Third, the analysis of consecutive observation frequency enabled the comparison of the changes to the observation concentration by area. The difference of time by area produced the data with which the change to the contents of spatial searching in the process of searching space could be known. Fourth, as the observation frequency in the area of I changed [three times -> six times -> 9 times], the observation time included in the area increased, which showed the process for the change from perception to recognition of information with the concentration of attention through visual information. It makes it possible to understand that more time was spent on the information to be acquired with the exclusion of the unnecessary information around.

  • After the 1988 Seoul Olympics, a lot of Culture & Arts Centers have been built in Korea. There have been raised questions on the frequency of room use and the occupancy of seats, but there are not enough architectural data for the Culture & Arts Centers in Korea. This paper focuses on the investigation of the architectural features of the Culture & Art Centers, such as the spatial sizes, the composition ratio of the performing art hall area to the overall facility area, the sizes and proportions of seat zone to stage zone, the average area per one person at the seat zone, the wide and the height of the procenium, the height of fly loft, and the number of users per one program. We could find out some meaning results. The composition ratios of the performing art hall area to the overall area of the facilities distribute with a wide range. The floor areas of 1500 through 2000 seat performing art halls are larger than $13,000m^2$. The average area per one person for seat zone and stage zone is approximately $0.8m^2$. All facilities we investigated have the types of the procenium stage. Almost all of the facilities have high quality stage conditions and equipments, but few programs use the various stage equipments and all of the main, side, and rear stages. To resolve this problems, various programs have to be developed for encouraging more people to use the Culture & Art Centers.
