The purpose of this study was to investigate critically the existing educational contents and methods on knowledge uncombined with our lives and to explore directions for the integration of educational contents and methods on practical knowledge. For this, firstly, this study selected and analyzed Traditionalism and Progressivism as exclusively opposite approach to education, in particular, the aspect of contents and methods. Next, it explored to define Dewey's activity-based inquiry process. Finally, it showed that the educational contents and methods could not be separated in Dewey's activity-based inquiry process. As a result, educational contents and methods in educational practice were experiences as things integrated. Therefore, knowledge for education has been emphasized as meaningful results that learners have experienced. Once the learners recognize the value and meaning of knowledge, they will be able to internalize the genuine knowledge, moreover they will be self-directed learners. In other words, if learners could discovered their own meaning and value of knowledge in the inquiry process, they have sustainable needs, trying to be involved in the new process based on the knowledge they earned.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how Pritzker Architecture Prize as a social act has maintained an organic relationship with the architecture, the urban society through the speakings and writings of the laureates of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. The composition of this research is to grasp the background of the establishment of Pritzker Architecture Prize and the examination process, to examine its social meaning, and to identify the main flow of words from writings about the laureates through the literature survey and text frequency analysis. And is to interpret the meaning of urban society change and words about the laureates. As a result of the analysis of the flow, it is a tendency to move from ideology and style to newness and innovation, and now to publicity and sociality. Especially in recent years, a wide range of values are floated as much as the complicated issues of urban society and the natural environment. The various architectural activities that make up the urban life became more important than the building units existing like an icon. It is considered possible because the Pritzker Architecture Prize has been awarded for a sustainable common social act. In addition, through literature surveys, have also seen changes in the value of individual laureates, the mixing of styles, and the eclectic aspect. Therefore, the task of reading change should not be a process of finding a new style for a new age, but a task of acknowledging heterogeneity of each architect and recognizing diversity through pluralization.
This study investigated the empty set which is one of the mathematical objects. We inquired some misconceptions about empty set and the background of imposing empty set. Also we studied historical background of the introduction of empty set and the axiomatic system of Set theory. We investigated the nature of mathematical object through studying empty set, pure conceptual entity. In this study we study about the existence of empty set by investigating Alian Badiou's ontology known as based on the axiomatic set theory. we attempted to explain the relation between simultaneous equations and sets. Thus we pondered the meaning of the existence of empty set. Finally we commented about the thoughts of sets from a different standpoint and presented the meaning of axiomatic and philosophical aspect of mathematics.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the job characteristics of the PR practitioner on flourishing and to identify the mediating effect of the meaning of work and job engagement. This study used a survey of 353 PR practitioners from PR firms and the hypothesis was verified by gathering the data of the job characteristics, the meaning of work, the job engagement and the flourishing by conducting hierarchical regression analysis and SPSS Process Macro bootstrapping analysis. The results showed that the job characteristics of the PR practitioner were found to influence the flourishing with the double-mediation effect, the meaning of the work and job engagement. The more PR practitioners regard their work affects their surroundings, the higher the degree of autonomy is, and the more they get feedbacks they engaged more, as they valued their job more thereby experience flourish more. Moreover, when PR practitioners valued their job more, they more engaged in their work and experience flourish. The meaning of work revealed to be the important factor to affect flourish regardless of the job characteristics and the job engagement so that gained the results that PR firms' effort to elevate the meaning of work of PR practitioners has is important. The study findings suggest that PR practitioners' flourishing is manageable in the organization by paying attention to oneself in the aspect of the organization, not leaving in individual areas. Limitaions and implications for future studies were discussed.
The purpose of this dissertation is to exam-ine the hippie look which is one of the most popular fashion trends in the early 90s, in re-lation to the hippie style in 60s and cultural restoration. in order to investigate the re-lationship this dissertation studies the trans-feral phenomenon of anti-fashion into mother fashion in the basis of social and clutural theories. hippie culture is the anti-culture which appeared in America in the late 60s, it tried to create a new culture by subverting the ruling class culture with their combative life style and peculiar appearance which are distinguished from mother culture. First of all to examine the inner symbolic meaning and outer shape of the hippie style I divided the characteristics of the hippies into ideology social value and attitude on sex. in the aspect of ideology the hippie show strong subjectivity while mother culture shows ob-jectivity. in social value the hippie has the resisting chaacteristics while mother culture has the conformative characteristics. In the aspect of sex the hippie tries to break the fixed idea of mother culture. Hippie culture as anti-culture is symbolically expressed in hippie style fashion which is dif-ferent from mother fashion in shape. There-fore the inner meaning and the outer shape of the hippie style shows strong characteristics of anti-fashion. Hippie style as anti-fashion has an effect on high fashion in the late 60s and the early 70s and on hippie look which is restored in 90s. however hippie-look in 90s is a mother-fashion in which all symbolic mean-ings of the hippie style are weakened and the only outer shape of hippie style is presented and suggested. It doesn't show any cultural backgrounds ideology social value and new attitude on sex of the hippies. The transferal phenomenon of anti-fashion into mother-fashion is summarized as follows. First in the process of tranference to highfashion in 60s and 70s and hippie-look in 90s the resistance of the hippie style is weakened and only suggested through the outer look. Second the hippie style which reappeared in the high fashion and mother fashion in 90s are layered look military uniform mode flower print grunge look romantic look peasant look ethnic look gypsy style handicraft ornaments working suit style handicraft ornaments working suit style and the use of the see-through cloth. Third the fact that the popular and high fashion were influenced by anti fashion in 60s proves filter-up theory in fashion adaption theory. As I examined before the ideology of the hippies are faded in high fashion in 60s-70s and hippie-look in 90s. The symbolic meaning of the hippie style is also weakened and only presented as a fashion trend.
The pursuit of freedom by the individual--desire to be liberated from all forms of restrictions-- is one of the defining character-istic of the modern society. As costume is, in part, a product of the spirit of the times, it was only natural that this desire for freedom would find its expression in modern costume as well. Among various forms of restrictions, differentiaton by sex has placed one of the most significant binding influences on individual behavior. From early times, the dichotomous division by sex was incorporated into the disign of costume, and the traditional differestriction of costume by sex imposed a significant restriction on the background,“the modern androhynous look”was born as a by-product of the sexual liberation movement in the second half of the 20th century, based on the concept of the individual as a complete human being rather than as a member exclusively of either the male or the female sex. This paper seeks to examine the androgynous look within a coherent theoretical frame-work, and explore new design possibilities by analyzing and understanding the visual characteristics of the androgynous look. In addition, this paper seeks to define the functional aspects of the androgynous look based on the premise that costume is an embodiment of the spirit of the times. As for research methodology, both theoretical and historical methods are employed. Through a theoretical examination of historical documents, the meaning of the androgynous look is explored from various angles, and order to examine its place in modern fashion, an-drogynous styles are categorized and system atically analyzed. The main findings of the paper can be summarized as follows : 1. Androgyny is a compound word consisting of“andro-”(meaning man) and“gyn-”(meaning woman). In modern times, this word has been associated with the socio-cultural aspect of gender rather than the physical or physiological aspect with the pshchological characteristics of the male and female sexes. Androgynous styles also appear in fashion and general arts such as drama, film, dance, and music. In fashion, the androgynous look, represented by the visual superimposition of “masculine”and “faminine”elements, has emerged as a major element of the 20th-century costume, and has gained broad acceptance among those free spirits wishing to be liberated from the conventional conceptions of male clothing, and the unisex look. 3. The androgynous look in modern fashion reflects the spirit of the 20th century society and culture, and performs various functions as follows : expression of fun, change in gender roles, expression of the inner consciousness, and pursuit of the ideal human type.

The purpose of this study is to find out how those taking early childhood preservice teachers experience their learning through learner-centered education and the meaning given by such experiences to grasp their values. Especially, to look into experiences of learning the project approach theory studied and directly experienced, which is one of the early childhood educational approach methods, data on participatory observation, personal interviews, personal reflective journals, activity reports and ect. were collected and analyzed by the current writer, who fully participated in the class. The meaning of early childhood preservice teacher'experiences in the project approach was analyzed from the two aspects of 'my' learning activities and 'teacher's teaching activities. In the aspect of 'my' learning activities, they got indulged through purposeful practices in the process of tackling problems that originated from personal interest and wanted to share the joy of learning they'd had with others. Aware of themselves as doers of behavior and thinking, they were found to be able to focus an 'my' own learning activities based on these learning experiences of theirs. In the aspect of 'teacher's teaching activities, project theories and practices done at the same time helped them internalize the project and they learned possible changes ign the project by experiencing actual cases. To sum up, the project approach has its meaning in that it not only helps teachers learn theoretical knowledge but also have reflective thinking through their experiences as doers of learning and form practical knowledge. Accordingly, it indicates th need for intensive discussion on the project approach as a way to educate pre-teachers or current ones.

The purpose of this paper is to deeply understand the transitional concept of gender expressed in the later 20th century fashion through analyzing of various literature. Gender is constructed in the context of social and culture different than sex which is inherent difference between man and women. Thus the concept of gender can be changed according to change of social and culture. There are imposing changes in gender since 60's owing to various factors; namely, feminism, subculture, deconstruction, development of technology, market economy, changing sex roles, etc. Especially in the 60's to 70's, as radical changes were took place, gender became vague more and more. Finally these days there is no fixed gender. In terms of meaning, there may be a number of genders-since there are as many meanings of sex as there are people who have thought about it. That is, sex is, gender means. Sex exists in itself, and is sublimely indifferent to what humans think of it, However gender is all the meanings we assign to sex. In accordance with this phenomena, people don't mind their sexes with appearance. There is only different disposition and taste.
Vernacular houses in Southeast Asia are basically post and beam structures raised on pillars, with gabled roofs. They were designed and built by the people themselves to meet specific needs, accommodating the values, economies and ways of life of cultures that produce them. Their forms and housing cultures are very various according to the country and the region. But based on the common history and culture, the vernacular houses in Southeast definitely have commonality. The purpose of this study is to analyse the commonality and diversity of the vernacular houses in Southeast Asia in the aspect of two different perspectives. One is the climate perspective, for which the analysis was made on the primary characteristics such as the climate, material, structure of the vernacular houses. The other one is the social-cultural perspective which try to find the religion, belief, life style and social and family relationship which controlled the forms of the housing under the surface. As a result, this study summarise and find the outstanding and unique meaning and definition of the vernacular houses in Southeast Asia.
As the standard for the value of modern people's life increases, hotels make efforts for the users' qualitative and mental satisfaction. As an approach to hotel space design differentiated for new experiences for travelers, a design that reflects the placeness is needed so that people can experience the local culture and historical meaning of the place. Thus, this study divides the components of placeness into physical factors, socio-cultural factors, and semantic factors. As for methods for the design expression of placeness formation, physical factors are classified as the connection to surrounding environments, center, passage, and area. Socio-cultural factors are classified as cultural experiences in the place. Semantic factors are classified as symbolism and historicity. For a case analysis in this study, overseas four-star hotels or higher, where placeness stood out are analyzed, based on the above-extracted components of placeness. As a result of the analysis, the hotels in the cases showed an aspect of expression that emphasized semantic factors despite there were differences in the detailed expression method, depending on the designers. The expression of the place that reflected locality and temporality showed the connection of time, connecting the past with the present. In the future, only the design expression based on the historical and symbolic meanings of the place will be the experience that remains in the users' memories, very precisely.
