Accurate calculation of the mean drift forces and moments is necessary when studying the higher order excitations on the floater in waves. When taking the time average of the second order forces and moments, the second order potential and motion diminish with only the first order terms remained. However, in the results of the first order forces or motions, the irregular frequency effects are often observed in higher frequencies, which will affect the accuracy of the calculation of the second order forces and moments. Therefore, we need to pay close attention to the irregular frequency effects in the mean drift forces. This paper will discuss about the irregular frequency effects in the calculations of the mean drift forces and validate our in-house program MDL Multi DYN using some examples which are known to have irregular frequency effects. Finally, we prove that it is necessary to remove the effects and demonstrate that the effectiveness of the formula and methods adopted in the development of our program.
Similar to Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM), a Single Carrier with Frequency Domain Equalization (SC-FDE) system is computationally efficient since equalization is performed on a block of data in the frequency domain. In coherent QAM schemes, the mean phase rotation error caused by the residual carrier frequency offset may lead to serious degradation. When the frequency equalizer is combined with the mean phase error tracking algorithm, its performance can be enhanced noticeably.
The purpose of this study was to assess the fatigue in lumbar and abdominal muscles in patients with chronic low back pain compared with normal subjects using spectral analysis with mean power frequency and median power frequency. The experimental group consisted of twenty subjects who had experienced chronic low back pain for over one year after the onset day. A control group consisted of twenty normal subjects with no history of low back pain. All subjects stood in an apparatus to perform sustained contraction in the lumbar and abdominal muscles for 30 seconds with 60% maximal voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC). The resulting electromyographic (EMG) recorded time serial data were transformed into frequency serial data by Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT). The results were as follows: 1) lumbar muscles measured, the frequency change ratio of both median power frequency and mean power frequency was significantly greater for experimental group compared with control group group (p<0.05). In measured two abdominal muscles (inferior rectus abdominis, obliquus externus abdominis) except superior rectus abdominis, the frequency change ratio of both median power frequency and mean power frequency was significantly greater for experimental group compared with control group (p<0.05). 2) In all three (longissimus thoracis, iliocostalis lumborum, multifidus) lumbar muscles measured, the initial frequency value of both median power frequency and mean power frequency was significantly lower for the experimental group compared with the control group (p<0.05). In the two (inferior rectus abdominis, obliquus externus abdominis) abdominal muscles measured (superior rectus abdominis not included), the initial frequency value of both median power frequency and mean power frequency was significantly lower for the experimental group compared with the control group (p<0.05). These results suggest that in patients with chronic low back pain there is a trend for more fatigue to occur in both lumbar and abdominal muscles than in the normal control group. This would seem to suggest that in treatment programs for patients with chronic low back pain, improvement of endurance in all trunk muscles should be considered.

The purpose of this study was to compare the electromyography signal's power spectrum mean and median tendencies appearing in the lower extremity during walking while wearing roller shoes. 9 male subjects volunteered who have no experience riding inline-skate or roller-skate, and have no record of musculoskeletal disorder. Subjects walked on treadmill twice for an hour (Once a week, one trial with the roller on and the other without roller, Walking velocity = 1.39 m/s). Electromyography was measured every 15 minute (0, 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes). Surface electrode sticked muscle at rectus femoris(R.F.), vastus lateralis(V.L.), vastus medialis(V.M.), biceps femoris(B.F.), tibialis anterior(T.A.), gastrocnemius lateralis(G.L.), gastrocnemius medialis(G.M.). At Rectus femoris, Vastus Lateralis, Vastus medialis, and Biceps femoris showed no statistically significant decrease of median frequency or mean edge frequency as time passes. Also, between two treatments (wearing the roller shoes vs not wearing the roller shoes), no statistically significant difference. After 60 minutes, mean edge frequency showed statistically significant decrease at tibalis anterior and after 45 minutes, mean edge frequency showed statistically significant decrease compared to wearing roller shoes without the wheels at gastrocnemius lateralis. At gastrocnemius medialis after 30 minutes, median frequency showed statistically significant decrease, and showed statistically significant difference compared to the control group. Wearing the roller shoes with wheels for a long time resulted in statistically significant decrease of mean edge frequency and median frequency in lower extremity, especially in shank muscles. Increase of wearing time of roller shoes and walking on a bumpy road wearing roller shoes with wheels result fatigue and thus, danger of injury.

The time domain adaptive noise canceller (time domain ANC) with the adaptive compensator and its algorithm, so called compensated least mean squares(CLMS) algorithm, had been introduced to improve the performance of ANC[1]. In this paper the time domain ANC with the adaptive compensator is transformed into the frequency domain ANC with the adaptive ocmpensator. An compensated frequency-domain least mean squares(CFLMS) algorithm that can adapt the proposed frequency domain ANC is presented.
The contact characteristics of the current collection system are investigated by analyzing data collected during a test run of the Korean high speed rail vehicle. For the analysis, the signals from accelerometers and load cells attached to the various parts of the pantograph are analyzed in both the time and frequency domains. In the frequency domain, the pantograph response consists of low frequency components related to the rigid-body motion of the panhead assembly and high frequency components due to the structural vibration modes of the pantograph. The analysis shows that the inclusion of the high frequency structural vibration modes of the pantograph in the contact force calculation has a negligible effect on the predicted mean value of the contact force but significantly affects the magnitude of its fluctuations. This finding implies that numerical simulations using lumped element models of the pantograph may accurately predict the mean contact force but is limited in its capacity for predicting the fluctuation about the mean. Since the ratio of the fluctuation to the mean in the contact force increases with increased train speed, the limitation of the predictions based on numerical simulation results becomes more pronounced at higher train speed.
We analyze the effect of second-order sampling on estimating the mean frequency of the Doppler signal. In order to reduce the sampling frequency of analogue-to-digital converter, it is possible to obtain the Doppler signal by sampling the radio frequency echo signal with the low frequence of $4f_0$/5 or $4f_0$/9 instead of $4f_0$, where $f_0$ is the center frequency of the transmitted signal. The computer simulation and experiments show that if the narrowband signal is transmitted as is usual in the Doppler system, the error of the mean frequency estimates due to the low sampling frequency is negligible.
The recorded thunderstorm winds at a point contain tri-directional components. The probabilistic characteristics of such recorded winds in terms of instantaneous mean wind speed and direction, and the probability distribution and the time-frequency dependent crossed and non-crossed power spectral density functions for the high-frequency fluctuating wind components are unclear. In the present study, we analyze the recorded tri-directional thunderstorm wind components by separating the recorded winds in terms of low-frequency time-varying mean wind speed and high-frequency fluctuating wind components in the alongwind direction and two orthogonal crosswind directions. We determine the time-varying mean wind speed and direction defined by azimuth and elevation angles, and analyze the spectra of high-frequency wind components in three orthogonal directions using continuous wavelet transforms. Additionally, we evaluate the coherence between each pair of fluctuating winds. Based on the analysis results, we develop empirical spectral models and lagged coherence models for the tri-directional fluctuating wind components, and we indicate that the fluctuating wind components can be treated as Gaussian. We show how they can be used to generate time histories of the tri-directional thunderstorm winds.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to examine the position changes with tilt table on autonomic nervous system using heart rate variability analysis. METHODS: Fourty healthy adult males volunteered in this study. The low frequency, high frequency and low frequency/high frequency ratio and mean heart rate, standard deviation of all normal R-R intervals, root mean square of successive differences, heart rate variability index were measured at the tilt table angle of $0^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$ with pulsoximeter. Data were analyzed one-way ANOVA and LSD post hoc test. RESULTS: The mean heart rate, low frequency and low frequency/high frequency ratio increased significantly at higher angle of tilt table(p<.05). The root mean square of successive differences, heart rate variability index decreased significantly at lower angle of tilt table(p<.05). The standard deviation of all normal R-R intervals, high frequency decreased at higher angle of tilt table did not show significant difference. CONCLUSION: The symphathetic activity increased significantly at higher angle of tilt table. The parasymphathetic activity decreased at higher angle of tilt table, but the difference were not significant. The autonomic adaptation, balance and heart rate variability decreased significantly at higher angle of tilt table. Based on these results, in the treatment of patients with a change in posture precedence should be carefully treated. Further studies are necessary to determine the most safety and effective methods.
