  • The aim of this research is to obtain a numerical material model for an amorphous glassy polymer, polycarbonate (PC), which can be used in finite element analysis (FEA) of the micro thermal imprint process near the glass transition temperature. An understanding of the deformation behavior of the PC specimens was acquired by performing tensile stress relaxation tests. The viscoelastic material model based on generalized Maxwell model was introduced for the material near Tg to establish the FE model based on the commercial FEA code ABAQUS/Standard with a suitable set of parameters obtained for this material model from the test data. Further validation of the model and parameters was performed by comparing the analysis of FE model results to the experimental data.

  • In this study we adapt discrete weibull regression model for clustered count data. Discrete weibull regression model has an attractive feature that it can handle both under and over dispersion data. We analyzed the eighth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES VIII) from 2019 to assess the factors influencing the 1 month outpatient stay in 17 different regions. We compared the results using clustered discrete Weibull regression model with those of Poisson, negative binomial, generalized Poisson and Conway-maxwell Poisson regression models, which are widely used in count data analyses. The results show that the clustered discrete Weibull regression model using random intercept model gives the best fit. Simulation study is also held to investigate the performance of the clustered discrete weibull model under various dispersion setting and zero inflated probabilities. In this paper it is shown that using a random effect with discrete Weibull regression can flexibly model count data with various dispersion without the risk of making wrong assumptions about the data dispersion.

  • Based on classical Berotti discrete iron loss calculation model, the iron loss analysis mathematical model of alternator was proposed in this paper. Considering characteristics of high speed and changing frequency of the alternator, Maxwell 3-D model was built to analyze iron loss corresponding to each running speed in alternator. Based on iron loss model of alternator at rated speed, the rotor claw pole size was made an optimization design. The optimization results showed that alternator's output performance had been improved. A new idea was explored in size optimization design of claw pole alternator.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to derive a theoretical model of the hysteretic resistance of the visco-elastic damper based on test results of harmonic excitation and to investigate of the basis of theory and experiment the effect of vibration control and response characteristics of portal frames degree vibration systems provided with the damper. The behaviour of a visco-elastic degree under dynamic loading is idealized by a model of the theory of visco-elasticity, i.e. a four-parameter model formed as a parallel combination of Maxwell fluid and Kelvin-Voigh models and its constitutive equation is derived. The model parameters are determined for a tested damper from the datas of harmonic excitation tests. The theoretical model of the damper is incorporated in equation fo motion of single degree of freedom. A computer program for solving the equation is written using Runge-kuttas's numerical integration scheme. Using this analysis program test cases of the earthquake excitation are simulated and the results of the simulation are the results of the simulation are the results of the simulation are compared with the test results.

  • Direct-acting solenoid valves are used in the automotive industry due to their simple structure and quick response in controlling the flow of fluid. We performed an optimization study of response time in order to improve the dynamic performance of a direct-acting solenoid valve. For the optimal design process, we used the commercial optimization software PIAnO, which provides various tools for efficient optimization including design of experiments (DOE), approximation techniques, and a design optimization algorithm. 35 sampling points of computational experiments are performed to find the optimum values of the design variables. In all cases, ANSYS Maxwell electromagnetic analysis software was used to model the electromagnetic dynamics. An approximate model generated from the electromagnetic analysis was estimated and used for the optimization. The best optimization model was selected using the verified approximation model called the Kriging model, and an optimization algorithm called the progressive quadratic response surface method (PQRSM).

  • Hysteretic behavior model of soft magnetic material usually used in electrical machines and electronic devices is necessary for numerical solution of Maxwell equation. In this study, a new dynamic hysteresis model is presented, based on the nonlinear dynamic system identification from measured data capabilities of fuzzy clustering algorithm. The developed model is based on a Gustafson-Kessel (GK) fuzzy approach used on a normalized gathered data from measured dynamic cycles on a C core transformer made of 0.33mm laminations of cold rolled SiFe. The number of fuzzy rules is optimized by some cluster validity measures like 'partition coefficient' and 'classification entropy'. The clustering results from the GK approach show that it is not only very accurate but also provides its effectiveness and potential for dynamic magnetic hysteresis modeling.

  • MRE(magneto-rheological elastomers) is a material which shows reversible and various modulus in magnetic field. Comparing to conventional rubber vibration isolator, MREs are able to absorb vibration of broader frequency range. These characteristic phenomena result from the orientation of magnetic particles named carbonyl iron powder(CIP) in rubber matrix. In this paper, simulation on variation rate of shear modulus for anisotropic MRE due to volume fraction of CIP and an effective permeability model was applied to predict the field-induced shear modulus of MREs. Also, the variation rate of shear modulus for anisotropic MRE was derived using magneto-mechanical theory. Based on Maxwell-Garnett mixing rule, the increment of shear modulus was calculated to evaluate the shear modulus of MREs with column structure of CIP due to induced current. The simulation results on variation rate of shear modulus can be applied to the variable mechanical system of MRE such as tunable vibration absorber, stiffness variable bush and mount.

  • Rheological properties of rehydrated freeze dried instant rice were investigated in comparison with that of cooked rice. The time changes in reciprocal hardness of instant rice grains at various rehydration temperatures$(60{\sim}90^{\circ}C)$ could be expressed by the first order reaction rate equation regardless of rehydration temperature and reaction rate constant increased as the rehydration temperature increased. Activation energy for rehydrating instant rice was 6.1 kcal/g-mol. Analysis of compressive stress relaxation test showed that the viscoelastic properties of both rehydrated instant rice and cooked rice grains could be expressed by 6-elements generalized Maxwell model. Rehydrated instant rice revealed higher relaxation decay than that of cooked rice and showed the elastic property increased by increasing the rehydration temperature.

  • In this paper, we developed a numerical analysis model by using ADI-FDTD method to analyze three-dimensional interconnect structure. We discretized maxwell's curl equation by using ADI-FDTD. Using ADI-FDTD method, a sampler circuit designed from 3.3 V CMOS technology is simplified to 3-metal line structure. Using this simplified structure, the time delay and signal distortion of complex interconnects are investigated. As results of simulation, 5∼10 ps of delay time and 0.1∼0.2 V of signal distortion are measured. As demonstrated in this paper, the full-wave analysis using ADI-FDTD exhibits a promise for accurate modeling of electromagnetic phenomena in high-speed VLSI interconnect.

  • Monolayers of lipids on a water surface have attracted much interest as models of biological membranes, but also as precursors of multilayer systems promising many technical applications. Until now, many methodologies have been developed in order to gain a better understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the monolayers. Maxwell displacement current (MDC) measurement has been employed to study the dielectric property of Langmuirfilms. MDC flowing across monolayers is analyzed using a rod-like molecular model. A linear relationship between the monolayer compression speed a and the molecular area Am. Compression speed a was about 30, 40, and 50 mm/min. Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) layers of Arachidic acid deposited by LB method were deposited onto slide glass as Y-type film. The structure of manufactured device is Aul Arachidic acid! AI, the number of accumulated layers are $9{\sim}21$. Also, we then examined of the Metal-Insulator-Metal(MIM) device by means of I-V. The I-V characteristics of the device are measured from -3 to+3 V. The insulation property of a thin film is better as the distance between electrodes is larger.
