본 논문에서는 5G NR 시스템을 위한 동기 신호를 이용한 cell ID 검출 방법에 대한 성능을 비교하였다. 5G NR(fifth-generation new radio) 시스템의 송신기는 SS/PBCH (synchronization signal/physical broadcast channel) 블록을 송신하며, 수신기는 수신된 SS/PBCH 블록을 이용하여 주파수 및 타이밍 오프셋 (frequency and timing offset)을 추정 할 수 있으며, cell ID (cell identity)는 PSS (primary synchronization signal)와 SSS (secondary synchronization signal)를 통해 검출할 수 있다.

3GPP LTE-Advanced systems adopt multiple antennas for high speed data transmission. In general, the receiver complexity of a spatially mutiplexed (SM) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system grows in proportion to the number of candidate vectors. A large number of candidate vectors increases the reliability of the soft output values. The maximum likelihood (ML) signal detection with a large number of candidate vectors achieves high performance. On the other hand, low complexity receiver techniques with a small number of candidate vectors provide soft output values, such as low reliability. This paper addresses the improving reliability of the soft output obtained from a small number of candidate vectors. The improved performance of the proposed technique with the aid of computer simulations is reported.

In this paper, a new receiver is proposed for the detection of the OFDM(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) signals in the time-selective multipath fading channel. For the optimal detection, we estimate the transmitted symbols from OFDM demultiplexing signal using the LMLE(linear masimum likelihold estimation) algorithm. Also, in this paper, the lowerbound for BER(bit error rate) using Taylor series approximation is provided. If the matched filter is used for the OFDM receiver in the time-selectivemultipath fading channel, it is known that the SER(symbol error rate) is always greater than $10^{-1}$, due to the cross-talk between adjacent channels. But, the proposed receiver provides of SER with 15dB SNR. Also, it is found that for the receiver implemented using the LMLE algorithm, the performance is shown to be not affected by the increase of th enumber of subchannel and channel path.

This paper proposes a novel detection scheme using a radial basis function (RBF) network in a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) environment. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed MIMO-RBF receiver, simulations are performed over the rich-scattering fading channel. Simulation results confirm that the proposed scheme shows the similar bit-error rate (BER) performance of a maximum likelihood detection (MLD) and outperforms Vertical-Bell Laboratories Layered Space-Time using minimum-mean-square-error nulling (VBLAST-MMSE) as well as VBLAST using zero-forcing nulling (VBLAST-ZF). Moreover, we investigate the effect on the performance of the number of RBF center with two modulation formats (BPSK and QPSK) and different number of transmit and receive antennas. The performance of the proposed detector is verified with respect to an initialization-rate of RBF centers.

This paper suggests the detecting method in which it uses the candidate symbol obtained through PI-SDR, the little computational complexity is required. By using the candidate symbol matrices obtained through PI-SDR, ZF and MMSE method was applied and the received signal was detected. The linear detecting method using PI-SDR candidate symbol is out of the performance than ML detecting method but the complexity is low. Because of using the symbol come close to the solution of ML, the proposed method's performance is better than the existing ZF and MMSE method.

We propose an adaptive threshold detector algorithm for multi-level holographic data storage based on the expectation-maximization (EM) method. In this paper, the signal intensities that are passed through the four-level holographic channel are modeled as a four Gaussian mixture with unknown DC offsets and the threshold levels are estimated based on the maximum likelihood criterion. We compare the bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed algorithm with the non-adaptive threshold detection algorithm for various levels of DC offset and misalignments. Our proposed algorithm shows consistently acceptable performance when the DC offset variance is fixed or the misalignments are lower than 20%. When the DC offset varies with each page, the BER of the proposed method is acceptable when the misalignments are lower than 10% and DC offset variance is 0.001.

Recently, multiuser detection has been investigated as an interesting topic because of its capability of eliminating multiuser interference and resistance to the near-far problem. In this paper, we consider a quasi maximum likelihood detector in the reverse link system which used antenna arrays in quasi-synchronous channels. It is also shown that the proposed system can suppress the interuser interference without using the side information of the other users. It is also shown that the performance of the proposed system is superior to that of the conventional matched filter system.
We developed a compact gamma camera based on a modified uniformly redundant array coded aperture to investigate the position of a $UO_2$ pellet emitting characteristic X-rays (98.4 keV) and ${\gamma}-rays$ (185.7 keV). Experiments using an only-mask method and an antimask subtractive method were conducted, and the maximum-likelihood expectation maximization algorithm was used for image reconstruction. The images obtained via the antimask subtractive method were compared with those obtained using the only-mask method with regard to the signal-to-noise ratio. The reconstructed images of the antimask subtractive method were superior. The reconstructed images of the characteristic X-rays and the ${\gamma}-rays$ were combined with the obtained image using the optical camera. The combined images showed the precise position of the $UO_2$ pellet. According to the self-absorption ratios of the nuclear material and the minimum number of effective events for image reconstruction, we estimated the minimum detection time depending on the amount of nuclear material.
In this study, a space-time transmission scheme is proposed to tackle the limitations of channel estimation with orthogonal pilot information in colocated multiple-input multiple-output systems with several transmitting and receiving antennas. Channel information is obtained using orthogonal pilots. Channel estimation introduces pilot heads required to estimate a channel. This leads to bandwidth insufficiency. As a result, trade-offs exist between the number of pilots required to estimate a channel versus spectral efficiency. The detection of data symbols is performed using the maximum likelihood decoding method as it provides a consistent approach to parameter estimation problems. The moment-generating function of the instantaneous signal-to-noise ratio is used to drive an approximate expression of the symbol error rate for the proposed scheme. Furthermore, the order of diversity is less by one than the number of receiver antennas used in the proposed scheme. The effect of the length of a pilot sequence on the proposed scheme's performance is also investigated.
Purpose: Positron emisson tomography (PET) is a crucial medical imaging scanner for the detection of cancer lesions. In order to maintain the improved image quality, it is crucial to apply detectors of superior performance. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare PET image quality using Monte Carlo simulation based on the detector materials of BGO, LSO, and LuAP. Materials and Methods: The Geant4 Application for Tomographic Emission (GATE) was used to design the PET detector. Scintillations with BGO, LSO and LuAP were modelled, with a size of 3.95 × 5.3 mm2 (width × height) and 25.0 mm (thickness). The PET detector consisted of 34 blocks per ring and a total of 4 rings. A line source of 1 MBq was modelled and acquired with a radius of 1 mm and length of 20 mm for 20 seconds. The acquired image was reconstructed maximum likelihood expectation maximization with 2 iteration and 10 subsets. The count comparison was carried out. Results and Discussion: The highest true, random, and scatter counts were obtained from the BGO scintillation detector compared to LSO and LuAP. Conclusion: The BGO scintillation detector material indicated excellent performance in terms of detection of gamma rays from emitted PET phantom.
