In concrete slab track, the signal current using wayside transmitter of ATP (Automatic Train Protection) system is influenced by reinforcing bars. The magnetic coupling between reinforcing bars and wayside transmitter of ATP system as a filter makes an input current distorted. So, it makes an alternating current signal with a desirable size not transmit to on-board system of a train. Way to decrease the distortion of an input current signal frequency is to avoid maximum induction current frequency. And the induction phenomenon between reinforcing bars insulated and wayside transmitter of ATP system does not occur. In this paper, we represent the model about wayside transmitter of ATP system and reinforcing bars on the concrete slab tracks, and calculated the parameters demanded for the model. Also, we demonstrated it through the Maxwell program. Furthermore, we calculated impedance on wayside transmitter used in KVB system and ERTMS/ETCS system which are a kind of ATP system, frequency response of induction current, using Matlab, and demonstrated the validity of it, using PSpice program.

This paper related with the performance comparison of mSE-MMA and mDSE-MMA adaptive equalization algorithm which is possible to reduce the intersymbol interference that occurs in the nonlinear communication channel transmitting 16-QAM signal. This two algorithm is possible to reduce the computational load compared to the current MMA algorithm, it has the degraded equalization performance due to simplified arithmetic in order to applying the mobile communication terminal. In order to improve the performance degradation, they controls the step size according to the existence of arbitrary radius circle of equalizer output compared to transmitted symbol point. The variation of step size according to this principle is applied to the SE-MMA and DSE-MMA, namely mSE-MMA and mDSE-MMA algorithm, the algorithm's performance were compared in the same channel and noise environment by computer simulation. As a result of simulation, the mSE-MMA has more superior to the mDSE-MMA in residual value of every performance index and SER performance, and the vice versa result in convergence speed.

In this paper, we investigate the impact of hardware impairments (HWIs) on the performance of a downlink massive MIMO system. We consider a single-cell system with maximum ratio transmission (MRT) as precoding scheme, and with all the HWIs characteristics such as phase noise, distortion noise, and amplified thermal noise. Based on the system model, we derive closed-form expressions for a typical user data rate under two scenarios: when a common local oscillator (CLO) is used at the base station and when separated oscillators (SLOs) are used. We also derive closed-form expressions for the downlink transmit power required for some desired per-user data rate under each scenario. Compared to the conventional system with ideal transceiver hardware, our results show that impairments of hardware make a finite upper limit on the user's downlink channel capacity; and as the number of base station antennas grows large, it is only the hardware impairments at the users that mainly limit the capacity. Our results also show that SLOs configuration provides higher data rate than CLO at the price of higher power consumption. An approach to minimize the effect of the hardware impairments on the system performance is also proposed in the paper. In our approach, we show that by reducing the cell size, the effect of accumulated phase noise during channel estimation time is minimized and hence the user capacity is increased, and the downlink transmit power is decreased.

This paper compare the performance of CM-MMA (Constellation Matching-MMA) and RMMA (Region-based MMA) blind equalization algorithm for improve the QoS by minimizing the intersymbol interference that is occurred in nonlinear communication channel when transmitting the QAM signal. In the tap coefficient update for adaptive, CM-MMA use the error of nonconstant modulus signal adding the current MMA cost fuction and constellation matching error terms of sinusoidal power function, and the RMMA use the error by transfoms the nonconstant modulus signal of equalizer output constellation to 4-QAM constant modulus signal. They has different equalization performance by these error signal, it were compared in this paper by simulation, and performance index such as output signal constellation of equalizer, residual isi, maximum distortion, SER curves are applied for this. As a result of computer simulation, the RMMA has more better performance in the every performance index, convergence speed, residual value, noise robustness compared to CM-MMA.

This paper evaluates the QE-MMA (Quantized Error-MMA) adaptive equalization algorithm by the number of quantizer in order to compensates the intersymbol interference due to channel in the transmission of high spectral efficient nonconstant modulus signal. In the adaptive equalizer, the error signal is needed for the updating the tap coefficient, the QE-MMA uses the polarity of error signal and correlation multiplier that condered nonlinear finite bit power-of-two quantizing component in order to convinience of H/W implementation. The different adaptive equalization performance were obtained by the number of quantizer, these performance were evaluated by the computer simulation. For this, the equalizer output signal constellation, residual isi, maximum distortion, MSE, SER were applied as a performance index. As a result of computer simulation, it improved equalization performance and reduced equalization noise were obtained in the steady state by using large quantizer bit numbers, but gives slow in convergence speed for reaching steady state.

As technologies related to image processing such as autonomous driving and CCTV develop, fog removal algorithms using a single image are being studied to improve the problem of image distortion. As a method of predicting fog density, there is a method of estimating the depth of an image by generating a depth map, and various fog features may be used as training data of the depth map. In addition, it is essential to implement a hardware capable of processing high-definition images in real time in order to apply the fog removal algorithm to actual technologies. In this paper, we implement NLCV (Normalize Local Coefficient of Variation), a feature of fog based on coefficient of variation, in hardware. The proposed hardware is an FPGA implementation of Xilinx's xczu7ev-2ffvc1156 as a target device. As a result of synthesis through the Vivado program, it has a maximum operating frequency of 479.616MHz and shows that real-time processing is possible in 4K UHD environment.

In this paper, we design a perceptually invisible dot pattern layout and its recognition scheme, and we apply the recognition scheme into a smart self learning aid for interactive learning aid. To increase maximum information capacity and also increase robustness to the noises, we design a ECC (error correcting code) based dot pattern with directional vector indicator. To make a smart self-learning aid, we embed the micro dot pattern (20 information bit + 15 ECC bits + 9 layout information bit) using K ink (CMYK) and extract the dot pattern using IR (infrared) LED and IR filter based camera, which is embedded in the smart pen. The reason we use K ink is that K ink is a carbon based ink in nature, and carbon is easily recognized with IR even without light. After acquiring IR camera images for the dot patterns, we perform layout adjustment using the 9 layout information bit, and extract 20 information bits from 35 data bits which is composed of 20 information bits and 15 ECC bits. To embed and extract information bits, we use topology based dot pattern recognition scheme which is robust to geometric distortion which is very usual in camera based recognition scheme. Topology based pattern recognition traces next information bit symbols using topological distance measurement from the pivot information bit. We implemented and experimented with sample patterns, and it shows that we can achieve almost 99% recognition for our embedding patterns.

Transmission lines systems are important components of the electrical power infrastructure. However, these systems are vulnerable to damage from high wind events such as hurricanes. This study presents the results from a 1:50 scale aeroelastic model of a multi-span transmission lines system subjected to simulated hurricane winds. The transmission lines system considered in this study consists of three lattice towers, four spans of conductors and two end-frames. The aeroelastic tests were conducted at the NSF NHERI Wall of Wind Experimental Facility (WOW EF) at the Florida International University (FIU). A horizontal distortion scaling technique was used in order to fit the entire model on the WOW turntable. The system was tested at various wind speeds ranging from 35 m/s to 78 m/s (equivalent full-scale speeds) for varying wind directions. A system identification (SID) technique was used to evaluate experimental-based along-wind aerodynamic damping coefficients and compare with their theoretical counterparts. Comparisons were done for two aeroelastic models: (i) a self-supported lattice tower, and (ii) a multi-span transmission lines system. A buffeting analysis was conducted to estimate the response of the conductors and compare it to measured experimental values. The responses of the single lattice tower and the multi-span transmission lines system were compared. The coupling effects seem to drastically change the aerodynamic damping of the system, compared to the single lattice tower case. The estimation of the drag forces on the conductors are in good agreement with their experimental counterparts. The incorporation of the change in turbulence intensity along the height of the towers appears to better estimate the response of the transmission tower, in comparison with previous methods which assumed constant turbulence intensity. Dynamic amplification factors and gust effect factors were computed, and comparisons were made with code specific values. The resonance contribution is shown to reach a maximum of 18% and 30% of the peak response of the stand-alone tower and entire system, respectively.
Optical phase conjugation is one of techniques capable of compensating for distortion due to chromatic dispersion and nonlinearity, which are essential for long-distance transmission of wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) signal. We proposed and analyzed a way to solve the limitations of this technology through dispersion map with periodic dispersion profile. In the proposed system, optical phase conjugator (OPC) is placed at the position of 1:2 or 2:1 of the entire link, and the dispersion profile of dispersion map has periodic shape in the form of a sine wave or an inverse-sine wave. It was confirmed that the effective compensation of the distorted 960 Gb/s WDM signal was further improved through the proposed periodic dispersion map when the OPC was located at the 1:2 point instead of the 2:1 point of the entire link. In addition, it was found that the maximum RDPS allocated to fiber span should be 1,800 ps/nm or more in order to increase the design flexibility of dispersion-managed link with the proposed periodic dispersion map.
Upon setting up a dedicated plastic greenhouse for tomato cultivation developed by the Rural Development Administration on the Gyehwa reclaimed land, this study was aimed at analyzing the problems can be occurred in the installation of plastic greenhouse on reclaimed lands as well as finding out solutions for improvement. A relatively cheaper wooden pile was used in the installation in order to supplement the soft ground conditions. Based on the results of ground investigation of the installation site, both the allowable bearing capacity and pulling resistance of the wooden pile with a diameter of 150 mm and a length of 10 m were computed and came out to be 30.645 kN. It was determined that the values were enough to withstand the maximum compressive force (17.206 kN) and the pullout force (20.435 kN) that are generally applied to the greenhouse footing. There are three problems aroused in the process of greenhouse installation, and the corresponding countermeasures are as follow. First, due to the slightly bent shape of the wooden pile, there were phenomenon such as deviation, torsion, and fracture when driving the pile. This could be prevented by the use of the backhoe (0.2) rotating tongs, which are holding the pile, to drive the pile while pushing to the direction of the driving and fixing it until 5 m below ground and applying a soft vibrating pressure until the first 2 m. Second, there exists a concrete independent footing between the column of the greenhouse and the wooden pile driven to the underground water level. Since it is difficult to accurately drive the pile on this independent footing, the problem of footing baseplate used to fix the column being off the independent footing was occurred. In order to handle with this matter, the diameter of the independent footing was changed from 200 mm to 300 mm. Last, after films were covered in the condition that the reinforcing frame and bracing are not installed, there was a phenomenon of columns being pushed away by the strong wind to the maximum of $11m{\cdot}s^{-1}$. It is encouraged to avoid constructions in winter, and the film covering jobs always to be done after the frame construction is completely over. The height of the independent footing was measured for 9 months after the completion of the greenhouse installation, and it was found to be within the margin of error meaning that there was no subsidence. The extent to the framework distortion and the value of inclinometers as well showed not much alteration. In other words, the wooden pile was designed to have a sufficient bearing capacity.
