  • Today, the power utilities is setting on the slow load growth and the aging of power equipment, and then could spend the efforts on the stability of system performance. Asset management may be defined as the process of maximizing corporate profit by maximizing performance and minimizing cost over the entire life cycle of power equipment. Therefore, asset management is great way to fulfill the economic investment and the stability of system performance. This paper presents the application of effective asset managem ent from an economic perspective. A proposed method is considering the life cycle analysis using life cycle cost methodology for hydro-generator during the total life cycle. The life cycle cost methodology include a way to calculating maintenance and operating costs. The proposed method will be expected to play an important role in investment decision making considering economic evaluation.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast adaptive power allocation method for an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system that employs an adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) scheme. The proposed scheme aims to reduce the calculation complexity of greedy adaptive power allocation (APA), which is known as the optimal algorithm for maximizing the utility argument of power. Unlike greedy APA, which starts power allocation from "0", the proposed algorithm initially allocates a certain level of power determined by the water-filling scheme. We theoretically demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has almost the same capability of maximizing the utility argument as the greedy APA while reducing the number of operations by 2M, where M is the number of AMC levels.

  • This study examined the effectiveness degree of a protective apron that is taken not to be exposed to the first ray or scattered rays, for X-ray of thick subject like lateral lumbar, and the results are as follows; First, spatial dose by scattered rays is shielded by 3 mmPb protective apron, 86.8% at a distance of 50 cm, 92.7% at 100 cm, and 95.6% at 200 cm, when minimizing the field size, while 89% at a distance of 50 cm, 92.3% at 100 cm, and 95.2% at 200 cm, when maximizing the field size. Second, 1st exposure dose is shielded by 3 mmPb protective apron, 93.7% at a distance of 50 cm, 94.4% at 100 cm, and 93.6% at 200 cm, when minimizing the field size, while 93.7% at a distance of 50 cm, 93.6% at 100 cm, and 94.2% at 200 cm, when maximizing the field size.

  • Method development for complex low molecular mass (LMM) samples using reversed-phase (RP) separation conditions presents significant challenges due to the presence of many unknown analytes over wide concentration ranges. This guide aims to optimize method parameters-column length (L), temperature (T), flow rate (F), and final mobile phase conditions (Øfinal)-to maximize separation peak capacity. Validated by prior research, this protocol benefits laboratories dealing with metabolomics, natural products, and contaminant screening. This practical guide provides a structured approach to maximizing peak capacity for complex LMM separations. It complements computational optimization strategies and offers a step-by-step method development process. The Snyder-Dolan test is highlighted as essential for determining the need for gradient or isocratic elution and guiding column length decisions. The decision tree framework helps analysts prioritize variable optimization to develop effective separation methods for complex samples.

  • Korean fishery wage system has been evolved with the different titles. However, Since the law of fishing crew was enacted in 1984, the fishery wage system has been established as a rate system, which is a legal term. The present rate system in practice shows various contents and modalities, depending on fisheries and regions, but the fisheries of large trawl cooperative employ a rate system of fixed plus rate wage. However, such change did not transform basically the properties of pure rate scheme. As well known, fishing vessel owners face an awful lot of difficulty in managing and controlling effectively the production process because fishing activities are carried out in the seas remote from the land. Thus, it tend to be inevitable for vessel owners to employ a rate system to induce fishermen's positive motivation for promoting productivity and saving operating costs. However, the rate system has worked out as a driving force, which induce an increase in production more strongly under the expansion of vessel numbers and power and the keener competition of fishing activities. Even though the control mechanism of fishing instruments are well established, fishermen become naturally to have an incentive to increase their fishing effort for maximizing production since they are able to raise their shares by maximizing the quantity harvested. Thus, as far as the rate system exists, fisheries administration may have much difficulty in realizing its fishery management goals only through vessel reduction and fishing gear regulations. Also, under the rate system fishery management authority may be in face of a serious dilemma between the spontaneous rate system and vessel reduction policy. If the realistic aspect of the rate system is recognized and resource restoration and profit promotion are main policy goals, it is necessary to develop effective ways to control vessel owners' and fishermen's production-maximizing motives at an appropriate level. From this point of view, it seems reasonable to introduce TAC system by species or by fisheries into the existing fishery system. The research results suggest that if the fisheries administration could understand clearly the spontaneous fisheries wage system, it would know the norm of TAC and the basic reasons for illegal fishing activities and thus it would be able to develop and implement more realistic resource management policies.

  • Recently many local governments have carried out dong merger and abolition process to cope with rapidly changing administrative demand and environment. This administrative effort impacts substantially the locational characteristics of the existing dong offices which directly involve in the quality of local community life. In this paper, we attempt to analyze the location pattern of current dong community service centers (formerly, 'dong office') and suggest the optimal locations maximizing spatial accessibility. As an application, we examine the location pattern of the existing dong community service centers in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Moreover, we compare current spatial configurations with the optimally selected locations such as, a Median maximizing spatial efficiency, a Center maximizing spatial equity, and a Centdian exploring compromising solutions regarding the tradeoff between efficiency and equity. The analytical results present that each of dong community service centers was systematically evaluated in terms of spatial efficiency and equity and in general the community service center locations are not spatially optimized with respect to efficiency and equity, compared with the optimal locations.

  • The purpose of this paper is to devise an optimal route allocation algorithm for automated vehicle(AV) in monitoring quality of road infrastructure to support the road safety. The tasks of an AV in this paper include visiting node-links at least once during its operation and checking status of road infrastructure, and coming back to its depot.. In selecting optimal route, its priority goal is visiting the node-links with higher risks while reducing costs caused by operation. To deal with the problem, authors devised reward maximizing algorithm for AVs. To check its validity, the authors developed simple toy network that mimic node-link networks and assigned costs and rewards for each node-link. With the toy network, the reward maximizing algorithm worked well as it visited the node-link with higher risks earlier then chinese postman route algorithm (Eiselt, Gendreau, Laporte, 1995). For further research, the reward maximizing algorithm should be tested its validity in a more complex network that mimic the real-life.
