  • The most critical problem of MIS evaluation is the lack of the systematic framework to cover various factors and viewpoints. To solve this problem, this study takes the multi-level and contingent approach to performance evaluation, composed of three levels: evaluating the contribution of MIS to an organization [strategy level]; evaluating the activities of MIS department or MIS function as an organizational sub-function through the overall MIS lifecycle [function level]; and evaluating the quality or productivity of the application systems as MIS outputs [system level]. Ideal MIS evaluation should include all three levels of the hierarchy with balanced importance. However, MIS evaluationcanbedividedintothreetypes,suchasstrategy-oriented, function-oriented and system-oriented evaluation, depending on the focus and emphasis of evaluation. The usage pattern of each evaluation type is analyzed according to contingent variables of MIS evaluation such as MIS maturity, information intensity and firm size, and top management's intent. It is also found that the firms of higher MIS maturity and top management's intent use the strategy-oriented evaluation type, and the firms with strategy-oriented evaluation type show a higher MIS performance. Further, MIS maturity and top management's intent show contingent effects between evaluation type and MIS performance. Some managerial implications can be drawn based on the results of the study. First, strategy-oriented evaluation of MIS is more important as many firms more often use information technology as a strategic weapon. Second, MIS performance varies with evaluation type. Therefore, the design of MIS evaluation framework should be done carefully in the strategic and managerial contexts. Third, firms are recommend to use a different evaluation type according to organizational characteristics such as MIS maturity and information intensity.

  • Maturity method is a non-destructive method for estimating in-place concrete strength as a function of time and temperature. The main objective is to use maturity method determining joint sawing and traffic opening time for whitetopping construction in Korea. Another objective is to investigate the influence of air temperature in the correspondence to slab temperature and maturity value. For determining the joint sawing and traffic opening time, thermachron i-button and strain gage were inserted in the fresh concrete in the slab and a maturity value was calculated at desired times. In-place strength was then estimated from a pre-established relationship between maturity values and compressive strength. The results showed that there are significant differences between the estimated strength obtained from maturity curve and in-place concrete strength. The reasons are that the gain of in-place concrete strength was influenced by several factors in the field such as curing conditions, air temperature, and wind speed etc. Also, the results showed that air temperature had significant influence on slab temperature and maturity value The slopes of maturity curves exponentially decrease as air temperature decreases. This means that maturity value sharply dropped as air temperature decreases.

  • Space weathering agents such as micrometeoroids and solar wind particles continuously age the uppermost regolith of the lunar surface by comminuting as well as darkening and reddening. Among several maturity indices, we investigate median grain size () and optical maturity (OMAT) of the crater rim walls. Crater rim wall is the most immature place among the impact crater features because the vertical mixing process by mass-movement can enhance the gardening of regolith and the supply of immature materials in the deeper layer to the surface. More than 140 simple and complex craters were considered. Both and OMAT values of the inner rim wall initially increase as the crater size increases until ~10-20 km, then decrease. This transition crater size happens to correspond to the transition diameter from simple to complex craters. For larger craters, i.e., complex craters, it is clear that the inner rim wall of the craters formed in recent eras tend to remain fresh and become mature along with time. For the simple crater case, smaller craters are more mature, which is opposite to the case of complex craters. This is thought to be because smaller craters become flattened more quickly, thus have smaller vertical mixing in the regolith due to mass-movement. We will also discuss on the maturity indices of the crater rim walls at high latitudes as a function of the position angle to see the latitude dependence of the space weathering process.

  • Prediction of compressive strength of concrete by Maturity Method is applied in construction site. However, due to the use of wired type high-priced equipment, economic efficiency and workability are falling. In this study, a newly developed concrete embedded wireless sensor is used to perform a mock-up test. Next, the concrete compressive strength of the Maturity Method is predicted using Saul and Plowman's function as measured temperature data. The predicted concrete strength at the beginning of the age was the actual strength and stiffness, but the error rate was less than 1% at 28th day.

  • Slipforming is a construction method in which the forms move continuously during the placement of concrete. This paper presents the development of a computer aided program designated as "CADSLIPFORM" for slipforming operations. The program incorporates maturity methods for the prediction of initial setting times of slipform concrete layers using laboratory data (time-temperature histories and setting times of concrete mixtures at different temperatures) and generates slipform mock-up times. The performance of CADSLIPFORM is validated by comparing simulated mock-up times with those estimated in the field through conventional hard front by rod (R) method. Moreover, the program versatility is demonstrated by illustrating mock-up simulations for different cases with variable slipform parameters such as: number and thickness of concrete layers, concrete temperature (simulating variable setting times) and slipform speed. The program also incorporates the choice of Freiesleben Hansen & Pederson (FHP) and Carino & Tank (CT) maturity functions. CADSLIPFORM can assist user to develop reliable schedule of slipforming operation suitable for a specific project by optimizing various slipform parameters.

  • The purpose of this study is to develope the strength prediction model by Maturity Method. A maturity function is a mathematical expression to account for the combined effects of time and temperature on the strength development of a cementious mixture. The method of equivalent ages is to use Arrhenius equation which indicates the influence of curing temperature on the initial hydration ratio of cement. For the experimental factors of this study, we selected the concrete mixing of W/C ratio 45, 50, 55 and 60% and curing temperature 5, 10, 20 and $30^{\circ}C$. And we compare and evaluate with logistic model that is existing strength prediction model, because we have to verify adaption possibility of new strength prediction model which is proposed by maturity method. As the results, it is found that investigation of the activation energy that are used to calculate equivalent age is necessary, and new strength prediction model was proved to be more accurate in the strength prediction than logistic model in the early age. Moreover, the use of new model was more reasonable because it has low SSE and high decisive factor.

  • The strength development of polymer concrete using an unsaturated polyester polymer varies depending on many factors. However, the strength development is mostly dependent upon the age and curing temperature if the mixture ratios are the same. This study conducted to experimentally describe the relationship between the strength development and maturity which is defined as a function of $\Sigma$(time $\times$ temperature). The research result may be applied to predict the compressive, tensile and splitting strengths of the polymer concrete by computing the maturinty of the concrete.
