Haringx의 전단변형 이론을 고려한 부분강절 뼈대구조의 비탄성 좌굴해석 (Inelastic Buckling Analysis of Semi-rigid Frames with Shear Deformations by Haringx's Theories)

  • The generalized tangential stiffness matrix of semi-rigid frame element with shear deformations based on Haringx's shear theory is newly derived and compared with the previous study based on Engesser's shear theory. Also, linearized elastic and geometric stiffness matrices are newly presented from the exact tangential stiffness matrix. In oder to obtain the inelastic system buckling load of shear flexible semi-rigid frame structure, the Ef method by tangential modulus theory is adopted and the FE analysis programs are developed. Finally, the shear and semi-rigid effects of system bucking are investigated by two numerical examples.

Space Deformation of Parametric Surface Based on Extension Function

  • In this paper, a new technique of space deformation for parametric surfaces with so-called extension function (EF) is presented. Firstly, a special extension function is introduced. Then an operator matrix is constructed on the basis of EF. Finally the deformation of a surface is achieved through multiplying the equation of the surface by an operator matrix or adding the multiplication of some vector and the operator matrix to the equation. Interactively modifying control parameters, ideal deformation effect can be got. The implementation shows that the method is simple, intuitive and easy to control. It can be used in such fields as geometric modeling and computer animation.

  • This paper proposes a new model to compensate for errors of a five-axis machine tool. A matrix with error components, that is, an error matrix, is separated from the error synthesis model of a five-axis machine tool. Based on the kinematics and inversion of the error matrix which can be obtained not by using a numerical method, an error compensation model is established and used to calculate compensation values of joint variables. The proposed compensation model does not need numerical methods to find the compensation values from the error compensation model, which includes nonlinear equations. An experiment using a double ball-bar is implemented to verify the proposed model.

  • Low-tension cables have been increasingly used in recent years due to deep-sea developments and the advent of synthetic cables. In the case of low-tension cables, large displacements may happen due to relatively small restoring forces of tension and thus the effects of fluid and geometric non-linearities become predominant. In this study, three-dimensional (3-D) dynamic behavior of a towed low-tension cable with non-uniform characteristics is numerically analyzed by considering fluid and geometric non-linearities and bending stiffness. A Fortran program is developed by employing a finite difference method. In the algorithm, an implicit time integration and Newton-Raphson iteration are adopted. For the calculation of huge size of matrices, block tri-diagonal matrix method is applied, which is much faster than the well-known Gauss-Jordan method in two point boundary value problems. Some case studies are carried out and the results of numerical simulations are compared with a in-house program of WHOI Cable with good agreements.

Analytical study of elastic lateral-torsional buckling of castellated steel beams under combined axial and bending loads

  • This paper presents an analytical solution for correctly predicting the Lateral-Torsional Buckling critical moment of simply supported castellated beams, the solution covers uniformly distributed loads combined with compressive loads. For this purpose, the castellated beam section with hexagonal-type perforation is treated as an arrangement of double "T" sections, composed of an upper T section and a lower T section. The castellated beam with regular openings is considered as a periodic repeating structure of unit cells. According to the kinematic model, the energy principle is applied in the context of geometric nonlinearity and the linear elastic behavior of materials. The differential equilibrium equations are established using Galerkin's method and the tangential stiffness matrix is calculated to determine the critical lateral torsional buckling loads. A Finite Element simulation using ABAQUS software is performed to verify the accuracy of the suggested analytical solution, each castellated beam is modelled with appropriate sizes meshes by thin shell elements S8R, the chosen element has 8 nodes and six degrees of freedom per node, including five integration points through the thickness, the Lanczos eigen-solver of ABAQUS was used to conduct elastic buckling analysis. It has been demonstrated that the proposed analytical solution results are in good agreement with those of the finite element method. A parametric study involving geometric and mechanical parameters is carried out, the intensity of the compressive load is also included. In comparison with the linear solution, it has been found that the linear stability underestimates the lateral buckling resistance. It has been confirmed that when high axial loads are applied, an impressive reduction in critical loads has been observed. It can be concluded that the obtained analytical solution is efficient and simple, and offers a rapid and direct method for estimating the lateral torsional buckling critical moment of simply supported castellated beams.

자유곡면을 가공하는 공작기계 체적오차의 일반화 해석 (A Generalized Analysis of Volumetric Error of a Machine Tool Machining a Sculpture)

  • This paper suggests generalize mathematica mode for the benefit of volumetric error analysis of a multi-axis machine tool machining a sculptured surfaces. The volumetric error, in this paper, is defined as a three dimensional error at the cutting point, which is caused by the geometric errors and the kinematic errors of each axis and alignment errors of the cutting tool. The actual cutting position is analyzed based on the form shaping model including a geometric error of the moving carriage, where a form shaping model is derived from the homogeneous transformation matrix. Then the volumetric error is obtained by calculating the position difference between the actual cutting position and the ideal one calculated from a Nonuniform Rational B-Spline named as NURES. The simulation study shows the effectiveness for predicting the behavior of machining error and for the method of error compensation.

  • The objective of this study is to propose a new procedure to synthesize the multi-experts priorities in AHP. If multi-experts with different expertise are involved in a AHP decision, we need some way to aggregate their opinions. AHP model used to do numerical aggregation by taking only the geometric mean or the weighting geometric mean in past. To aggregate the multi-experts priorities, In this paper. we suggest a way which Decision Maker can exclude outlier matrix from group using the concept of the Compatibility and we Introduce Delphi method to use Compatibility in AHP. A numerical example is shown to illustrate the procedure.

  • An incremental Total Lagrangian Formulation is implemented for the finite element analysis of laminated composite pressure vessel with consideration of the material and geometric nonlinearities. For large displacements/large rotations due to geometric nonlinearities, the incremental equations are derived using a quadratic approximation for the increment of the reference vectors in terms of the nodal rotation increments. This approach leads to a complete tangent stiffness matrix. For material nonlinearity, the analysis is performed by using the piecewise linear method, taking account of the nonlinear shear stress-strain relation. The results of numerical tests include the large deflection behavior of the selected composite shell problem. When compared with the previous analysis, tile results are in good agreement with them. As a practical example, filament wound pressure vessel is analyzed with consideration of the geometrically and materially nonlinearity. The numerical results agree fairly well with the existing experimental results.

  • Vehicle structures are composed of many substructure connected to one another by various types of mechanical joints. In vehicle engineering it is important to study these connected structures under various dynamic forces for the evaluations of fatigue life and stress concentration exactly. It is difficult to obtain the accurate load history of specified positions because of the errors such as modeling, measurement and etc. In the beginning of design exact load data are actually necessary for the fatigue strength and life analysis to minimize the cost and time of designing. In this paper, the procedure of practical dynamic force determination is developed by the combination of the principal stresses of F. E. Analysis and experiment. Least square pseudo inverse matrix is adopted to obtain in inverse matrix of analyzed stresses matrix. The error minimization method utilizes the inaccurate measured error and the shifting error that the whole data is stiffed over real data. The least square criterion is adopted to avoid these non. Finally, to verify the proposed procedure, a bus is analyzed. This measurement and prediction technology can be extended to the structural modification of any geometric shape in complex structure.

실하중 이력에 의한 조인트의 동적강도해석 (Dynamic Stress Analysis of joint by Practical Dynamic Load History)

  • Most structures of automobile are composed of many substructures connected to one another by various types of mechanical joints. In this paper, the procedure of practical dynamic load determination is developed by the combination of the principal stresses of F.E. analysis and experiment. Inverse problem and least square pseudo inverse matrix are adopted to obtain an inverse matrix of analyzed stresses matrix. Pseudo-Practical dynamic load was calculated for Lab. Test of sub-structure. GUI program(PLODAS) was developed for whole of above procedure. This proposed method could be extended to any geometric shape of structure.
