Experimental Verification of Effectiveness of Stabilization Control System for Mobile Surveillance Robot (기동형 경계로봇 안정화 시스템의 실험적 검증)

  • A mobile surveillance robot is defined as a surveillance robot system that is mounted on a mobile platform and is used to protect public areas such as airports or harbors from invaders. The mobile surveillance robot that is mounted on a mobile platform consists of a gun module, a camera system module, an embedded control system, and AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System). It has two axis control systems for controlling its elevation and azimuth. In order to obtain stable images for targeting invaders, this system requires a stabilizer to compensate any disturbance due to vehicle motion. In this study, a virtual model of a mobile surveillance robot has been created and ADAMS/Matlab simulations have been performed to verify the suitability of the proposed stabilization algorithm. Further, the suitability of the stabilization algorithm has also been verified using a mock-up of the mobile surveillance robot and a 6-DOF (Degree Of Freedom) motion simulator.

Design of Levitation Controller with Optimal Fuzzy PID Controller for Magnetic Levitation System (최적 퍼지PID제어기를 이용한 자기부상시스템의 부상제어기 설계)

  • This paper proposes a optimum design method for the Fuzzy PID controller of magnetic levitation-based Rail-Guided Vehicle(RGV). Since an attraction type levitation system is intrinsically unstable, it is difficult to completely satisfy the desired performance through the methods designed by conventional controllers. In the paper, the Fuzzy PID controller with fixed parameters are applied and then the optimum parameters of fuzzy PID controller are selected by genetic algorithm. For the fitness function of genetic algorithm, the performance index of PID controller is used. To verify the performance of the proposed method, we used Matlab/simulink model of Maglev and compared the proposed method with the performance of PID controller. The simulation results show that the proposed method is more effective than conventional PID controller.

A Hardware Implementation of EGML-based Moving Object Detection Algorithm (EGML 기반 이동 객체 검출 알고리듬의 하드웨어 구현)

  • A hardware implementation of MOD(moving object detection) algorithm using EGML(effective Gaussian mixture learning)- based background subtraction to detect moving objects in video is described. Some approximations of EGML calculations are applied to reduce hardware complexity, and pipelining technique is adopted to improve operating speed. The MOD processor designed in Verilog-HDL has been verified by FPGA-in-the-loop verification using MATLAB/Simulink. The MOD processor has 2,218 slices on the Virtex5-XC5VSX95T FPGA device and its throughput is 102 MSamples/s at 102 MHz clock frequency. Evaluation results of the MOD processor for 12 images in the IEEE CDW-2012 dataset show that the average recall value is 0.7631, the average precision value is 0.7778 and the average F-measure value is 0.7535.

  • Reticle systems, which are widely used in infrared (IR) missile seekers, are considered to be the classical approach for estimating the position of a target in the field of view (FOV). This paper presents an effective simulation tool that gives tracking results of the concentric annular ring reticle seeker. We construct the concentric annular ring reticle seeker on Matlab-Simulink for a dynamic simulation. Our simulation model provides tracking results in various cases, and is applicable to the study of the development of the advanced seekers. While false targets such as flares are presented in the FOV, simulation results show that the existing seeker cannot determine a precise target location. In order to decrease the susceptibility to countermeasures such as flares, we propose an efficient counter-countermeasure using the correlated relationship of modulated signals and the references. We have ascertained that the reticle seeker using our technique make more effective target tracking than previous seekers.

Determining the Thickness of a Trilayer Thin-Film Structure by Fourier-Transform Analysis (푸리에 변환을 이용한 3층 구조 박막의 두께 측정)

  • The thickness of each layer in a multilayered system is determined by a Fourier-transform method using spectroscopic reflectance measurements. To verify this method, we first generate theoretical reflectance spectra for three layers, and these are fast-Fourier-transformed using our own Matlab program. Each peak of the Fourier-transformed delta function denotes the optical thickness of each layer, and these are transformed to physical thicknesses. The relative thickness error of the theoretical model is less than 1.0% while a layer's optical thickness is greater than 730 nm. A PI-(thin $SiO_2$)-PImultilayeredstructure produced by the bar-coating method was analyzed, and the thickness errors compared to SEM measurements. Even though this Fourier-transform method requires knowing the film order and the refractive index of each layer prior to analysis, it is a fast and nondestructive method for the analysis of multilayered structures.

  • Output voltage waves of a DC/AC inverter system are likely to be distorted if variable loads e.g. motors or rectifiers exist in the output terminal. This paper designs a disturbance observer-based PI-controller for a single-phase inverter system that is robust against load changes. In this Paper, we regard the output voltage changes due to various loads as disturbances of the control system. Then we design a disturbance observer for estimation of the disturbances caused by the load current and any other error sources (such as parameter uncertainties and model mismatches etc.). In order to test the performance of the proposed control law, simulation studies are carried out for a single-phase inverter system using SimPowerSystem of Matlab Simuink. Compared to a simple PI-control, the disturbance observer-based controller shows enhanced performance in transient responses for step load changes.

  • This paper investigates the possibility of exploiting haptic force-feedback technology for interacting with Nanta music. We use VR technologies including touch processing technologies and haptic devices to offer touch of cylinder objects and cup object to users. Haptic device is used to implement touch model in VR space. Matlab/Simulink and proSENCE Virtual Touch Toolbox of Handshake Inc. for experiment, are used as programing tools. Function needed to describe the movement of x, y, and z axis respectively are applied to delineate the natural movement of water in cup object modeled with 3D. A certain amount of water in cup object has the difference of sounds. In experiment, to perceive the appearance of 3D object by touch and to feel the tactile by touch are conducted with the effect of sound on Haptic perception. We also verify that it is possible to develop games or contents in VR space by using point.

Analysis of the Effect of Solar Radiation on Internal Temperature Distribution in Concrete Mat Foundation (태양 복사열이 콘크리트 매트기초의 내부 온도분포에 미치는 영향에 관한 해석적 연구)

  • This research investigated the effect of solar radiation on the temperature distribution in concrete mat foundation. Zhang and Huang Model was utilized to estimate solar radiation heat at a given date and time. A one-dimensional finite element formula was derived with the fundamental laws of heat transfer and Galerkin method. Based on the formula, a one dimensional finite element analysis code was developed using MATLAB. Hydration heat analysis of mat foundation were conducted using the developed code. It was found that the solar radiation reduced the maximum temperature difference in mat foundation, and this temperature difference reduction was more prominent in case of summer season cast, a higher initial concrete temperature, and a thicker mat foundation depth. The research recommended that the solar radiation should be considered in hydration heat analysis of concrete mat foundation so as not to overestimate the maximum temperature difference in mat foundation.

The 3-Axis Attitude Stabilization System Design of Picosat Hausat-1 (극소형 위성 HAUSAT-1의 3축 자세 안정화 시스템 설계)

  • The HAUSAT-1(Hankuk Aviation University SATellite-1) will orbit at the altitude of 650km-800 km with 65 or 98 degree inclination angle. The effects of magnetic field and Earth gravity are more predominant than other space disturbances because the HAUSAT-1 will be positioned in LEO(Low Earth Orbit). The HAUSAT-1 design implements a magnetic control system and gravity-stable system which implement the solar panel deployment system. The simulation using MATLAB was performed to make sure the attitude stability of HAUSAT-1, which is based on the 8th order magnetic field model and non-linear equations of disturbances and the HAUSAT-1 attitude. The stability is investigated for two different HAUSAT-1 configurations and attitude which are affected by disturbances through simulation. The results for gravity-gradient stable and non gravity-gradient stable system are compared. Methodology of attitude stabilization was explored to develop an effective attitude control system for the HAUSAT-1 using magnetic torquers.

Response Characteristics of the HIL System for Passenger Diesel Engine (승용 디젤엔진 HIL 시스템의 응답 특성)

  • A HIL(hardware-in-the-loop) system was established and the simulation was carried out to determine whether the system operates normally. The system consists of turbocharger test bench, HIL platform with real time S/W and DAQ, and engine model using Matlab/Simulink. In the simulation the supplied fuel rate is changed step-by-step from 1.8944 kg/h to 4.7360 kg/h. The change of air-fuel ratio is analyzed and observed whether the air-fuel ratio follow the target air-fuel ratio 32. When the supplied fuel rate is changed, the air-fuel ratio is converged to the target air-fuel ratio after about 20 seconds. And the vane duty ratio of turbine and the boost pressure of compressor are also changed properly. Therefore this HIL system can be used to develop the new turbocharger and improve the performance of the modified turbocharger.
